Decent basic 7" frame........2007-04-26

I just recently received this frame for my birthday, and it's decent, works well, and has a nice variety of slideshow playback features. The menus are also easy to read and navagate overall as well. This is a basic 7" 16:9 frame, nothing really fancy about it though. It is 480:234 output for the pictures, decent enough, somewhat grainy at times but average for most frames. I know you could potentially get better frame picture quality, but you will pay for it. Also, this frame does not feature MP3/MPEG technology, so you can't set the slide show to music or play short videos like some other frames, again those features do cost more, and polaroid does make their XSA-0720 that has them. But, for displaying pictures, this works great in for my needs. Check it out.

Excellent photo frame at low cost........2007-06-21

This is a very nice photo frame with standard 480 x 237 resolution on a seven inch screen. The photo contrast and clarity are good, and it does a nice job of presenting them as a slide show, and have a really neat function of Mosaic presentation with up to 3 potos displayed at once. However, only downfall of this unit is that it does not play MP3's for music on a slide show. Others at this price and in it's class do. If you find a really good deal on this, buy it, you will not be dissapointed, but if it is at full price, check and see what else is there, you may be able to get more for the same money. I bought one of these on sale below the comparable competators, and I love it. Would work well in an office where music may be distracting.

Mom Likes It.......2003-01-11

Seems only people that don't like something write a review. Personally, I like the frame. I KNEW it could only be used with an $8 a month service over the Internet BEFORE I bought it. The service is easy to use and so is the frame. My Mother doesn't have to do anything to get 20 pictures a day sent to her. I have uploaded 200+ photos and 20 new ones randomly appear every morning. They can use any picture I send for what ever they want - I don't care! Hell, maybe I'll become so popular that my face will become a commodity and some one will call me for a $$million$$ contract! (yeah-right) There are several other options one the service, like sending photos on a certain day, locking certain photos so they stay on the frame, etc. My mother lives 1,500 miles from me and has no computer or computer knowledge, so this works very nicely. My brother can also send photos, as can anyone else I am willing to give my password to.

ok, so let me get this straight... the Cevia web site is a critical component of this frame functioning, even after paying $$$ for it? Without a guarantee that the Cevia site will be alive in 12 months? And every picture I send, Polaroid gets world-wide rights to without asking my permission?

Tell ya what.. you pay me $5K for the frame and ($price)for each picture, and the requirement that you ask me prior to use of an image and I'll *reconsider* this product. The marketing bozo who whipped this one up should practice this phrase.. "would you like paper or plastic?".

Polaroid Digital Picture Frame.......2001-11-30

I just purchased a Polaroid digital picture frame and even though appears to be well made I am sending it back. I have 2 major problems with this product. First, there is no way to directly connect it to a PC to download pictures without going through the Cevia web site. You must upload your pictures to the web then download them to the picture frame. This means that once your free 3 month trial is up you must pay a monthly fee to Cevia for as long as you want to be able to change pictures in the frame.

My second and even bigger problem with the frame is the terms that you automatically agree to by uploading a picture to the Cevia website. The following is a direct quote from the agreement you are accepting by uploading a picture to the Cevia website...

"Ownership and Rights to Use Content. You will retain ownership of any copyright or license in your submitted content and images, however, you agree to the following: By submitting images or content to this Site, you grant to Polaroid Corporation, its successors, assigns, licensees, and agents, a non-exclusive, irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual, and royalty-free right and license to use, reproduce, display, distribute, modify, adapt, publish, perform, transmit, and prepare derivative works from all images and content on this web site. You represent and warrant that you have full right and authority to grant these rights and no one else's permission is required."

I bought this digital picture frame for my parents (who live 2 hours away) so I could send them digital pictures of my 2 year old and 4 year old daughters. According to the terms of this agreement, Polaroid can legally do ANYTHING they want to with the pictures of my children including turning them into royalty free photo collections on CD or selling them to ad agencies, magazines or anyone else. No Thanks. The pictures of my children are private and I will only share them with the people that I choose to share them with. I will not give Polaroid or Cevia or anyone else unlimited rights to do whatever they want with these pictures.

Epson Powerlite 30c ..Cute little projector.......2003-02-18

Finally there's a projector one can afford. I am quite pleased with the quality of the projection. In addition to 1024x768 VGA, it also handles HDTV 1080i as well as all other current video standards (NTSC-PAL/SECAM). Unfortunately, the image isn't bright enough to see in a well lit room; you'll have to turn out ALL the lights to see the output from this projector.
Great for watching your DVDs, making presentations, or just plain fun (surfing the web on a 200" screen is quite nice :-) .

Cons: The bulb is rated for 1440 hours of use before it supposedly explodes, discharging toxic mercury vapor into your viewing area. I don't like the price tag of the bulb either... for a projector bulb is simply outrageous! And if you use your projector like I do, expect to replace it every year (and you thought ink-jets were expensive to operate). My advice: wait for other companies to release 'consumer-priced' projectors and PRAY that the replacement bulbs will be more economical. *OR* buy yourself a []CRT projector, problem solved! 3-)...

Great projector for fairly little money.......2003-01-04

As long as you're not working in a big theater, this is a terrific projector for everyday presentations. It is one of the least expensive on the market, and easy to use right out of the box. The controls are super-easy and the hook up simple and clear. A nice sharp, bright image in a very small and lightweight package.

Integrated dual NTSC tuners give you picture-in-picture or side-by-side viewing of 2 programs (or 1 program and 1 input) simultaneously, while a rear-panel PC input lets the set double as a computer monitor. The screen boasts a contrast ratio of 3,000:1 for deep, lifelike blacks.

With a plasma screen you get vivid colors like you've never seen before, extremely wide viewing angles (wider, even, than those of most LCD screens), and easy placement due to a plasma monitor's slim profile--the PE4240N is a mere 4.3 inches deep, perfect for desk or wall mounting. Brightness tends to be extremely uniform across plasma screens, which are also impervious to the picture distortion and negative color balances that afflict CRT monitors when placed near lighting or sound systems. You do, however, need to be wary of image burn-in (wherein long-held stationary images leave a permanent impression in the screen).

The PE4240N's image enhancements include DCDi video processing by Faroudja (the acclaimed DCDi algorithm detects low-angle lines and smoothes out staircases and jagged edges, bringing greater realism to sporting events and movies), Fine Detail Enhancement (which identifies a picture's areas of fine detail, such as skin and hair, and enhances them to a more lifelike appearance), and motion-adaptive noise reduction (which enhances the quality of standard-definition and off-air programming). A 3D digital comb filter enhances the color purity of composite-video and S-video input sources, reducing cross-color artifacts like dot crawl.

FilmMode processing with 3:2 and 2:3 pulldown accurately reproduces film-originated content from video sources. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2/2:3 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

Inputs include a DVI-D terminal with HDCP (High-Definition Content Protection), which permits pure digital connections to DTV set-top boxes and DVI-enabled DVD players and PCs. The set also offers 1 HD (480p/720p/1080i) and 1 SD (480i) component-video input, a VGA computer input, an RF antenna/coaxial input, and 2 each composite- and S-video connections for additional component hookups.

A stereo RCA analog audio output lets you feed a surround receiver independently to bypass the set's internal speakers. The TV's onboard rear-firing speakers are driven by 5 watts per channel, and the set also sports clip-type speaker outputs providing 10 watts per channel to a pair of external speakers, either your own or an accessory pair made by HP which affix directly to the sides of the PE4240N (sold separately).

Two user-selectable features enhance the set's sound system, whichever speakers you use. BBE High Definition Audio improves speech intelligibility and musical realism, while SRS WOW processing creates a perceptually larger sound field, enhancing vocals and instilling a sense of deep, rich bass even without the use of a subwoofer.
