The MP2000 is a wonderful addition to your next vacation or business trip. the only drawback is that the music player doesnt have random play for your whole collection it only works by album also you cant make playlists

I'm a technology specialist for the state and I have tried a lot of different items in this area and I can tell you that the Apex EZ-Go is simple to use. I've used Archos and iPods and Creative and it does what they and does it simpler. If you want dazzle and complicated interfaces then go ahead and spend $400 bucks. Treat this thing like a hard drive, create your folders and browse them on the EZ-Go to play them. Video, pictures and music all work well. I did have trouble getting the correct video format to play but that is easily solved because you can plug this thing up to your cable or satellite, dvd player or vcr and record straight onto the EZ-Go with the supplied cable. No huge docking station and proprietary interface like on the $400 Archos. I have owned Apex products in the past and was a little concerned for the quality and longevity of the product so I purchased the two year replacement warranty from Amazon. Since I only payed $110 for the EZ-Go, $21 for the warranty was a no-brainer. I bet all the dead iPod owners wished they'd had enough money left over for a replacement warranty.

Good performance, lots of storage capacity, a large 3.7" screen, and the ability to play both audio and video files -- and for this price, I can live with menus that aren't quite as slick as some competing products. Price versus capability, the Apex is a bargain!

good for a low end media player.......2006-12-15

This is a decent player which plays a lot of different file formats (mp3. mp4, divx, xvid, etc...) but is hampered with (sometimes) choppy video play-back and the screen has a bit of a "screen door" affect when you watch too closely. I /think/ when the video file does not fit the screen perfectly the play-back gets choppy as I have some movies which do work perfect on it.. so YMMV! video recording capability is also decent, and is a nice feature, but the unit lacks a remote to pause and unpause recordings, making it somewhat tough to use it for "pausing" commercials out of TV recording.

The audio playback quality is pretty ok.. I ended up using it to play mp3s mostly.. it's very basic and just "works". You can't make play lists, you have to just search for the file to play.. you can set "random" play or straight-through play... very much no frills. The menuing system is very rudimentary.. there are no updates for it and there will not ever be any. Apex support doesn't know much about this unit, so don't expect much if you contact them for help.

That's about all I can say.. it's a 20gb storage device with audio and video playback capability.. but don't expect to be "wowed" by any of it's ability.. it just works.

LOST THE A/V CABLE NOW IT'S WORTHLESS!!.......2006-10-07

This is a fine unit and does everything advertised EXCEPT:

I have lost the a/v cable and cannot find a replacement. Apex customer service is a joke, so that avenue is out.

It's a 2.5mm to RCA A/V connection (the three rca male connections; red, white & yellow) and I use this for displaying photos & video through a projector... which worked great until I lost the cable!

Now I use the iPod.

I still have this thing and would like to have it as a backup but my inability to locate the proper cable has me shaking my head and looking at the unit on my desk as it keeps papers from blowing off as I sigh.

If any of you millions reading these reviews know where I could find the a/v cable for this, I will paypal you $10. I'm totally serious.

Great camera--and at the price--it better be!.......2003-06-22

I've been coveting one of these cameras for a while, but at close to the $2K mark, it's a little steep, so I settled for a Fuji model GSW690 III, a great camera itself, which I bought used for about half that. Even cooler, the image size is twice that of the Contax, since it's a 6 x 9 cm negative rather than 6 x 4.5. Like the Carl Zeiss lens on the Contax, it also has a very sharp lens. Still, if someone gave me one of these as a gift, I wouldn't complain.

Another reason I like the the medium format in this Contax is that digital won't be able to touch it soon. I've calculated that the typical 35 mm negative has about 20 to 40 million pixels of information. With digital cameras now achieving 10-14 megapixels, they've reached the lower end of the my estimate for film.

However, my Fuji 6 x 9 cm has 8 times the area of a normal 35 mm negative, which translates into about 250 megapixels, which digital cameras are unlikely to achieve soon, at least in the next few years. Maybe 10 years, I'd believe that. In the meantime, I'll stick with a great medium-format film camera like the Contax or my Fuji.

Cheap monitor.......2006-08-13

Some screwdriver assembly required to attach monitor to base. Speakers in the back produce muffled, tinny sound, worse than my $15 cheapo speakers. On-screen menu frustrating and annoying to use. Picture quality not very good - gave me a headache in under an hour. A bit too much afterimage for me, even just scrolling text to read web pages, let alone playing games. Difficult to adjust tilt. Very bright screen, although it can be dimmed.

Overall - might be good for putting in a window for passers-by to see, but I don't want it on my desk. Not recommended.

Glad I got these phones!

After we discovered our son is sensitive to 2.4Ghz or higher frequencies (as most children are), and he was getting headaches from our wireless internet and 2.4Ghz phones we decided to go back to WIRED phones in the home.

These were the obvious choice, and I am happy with our choice! No complaints about this phone at all.

I sent it back. The price was right but the caller ID didn't function. When I got in touch with AT&T, they told me, maybe this phone is not compatible with the other phones in my home. (Stupid Response!) I then asked, why would AT&T put a phone on the market that's not compatible with my other phones, I didn't get a reply!!! They wanted to send me a replacement. I told them there is no point in doing that, if, the replacement phone was not compatible with my other phones! I guess AMAZON will be sending it back to AT&T.

Batteries Not Included.......2007-03-15

The description advertises no power cord required, and the box has large print stating "No AC Power Needed". Smaller print however notes that if you want the caller-id (which isn't back-lit) to function, that you need to provide 3 AA batteries.

The last thing I wanted was one more thing that required batteries.

At Last!!! A New Style Phone That Has Some Weight To It!!!.......2007-01-31

I purchased two of this phone model, tried them out for a spell and like them. I am online RIGHT NOW to buy three more so as to get rid of all the other phones (except the 1960's wall phone still in mint condition).

New phones today are light weighted pieces of plastic that screech instead of ring, and fling around the table that they are set onto because they weigh less then an ounce (joking - I think they weight right at 1.25 ounces) Not this model...not at all...it's a fat pup with some meat on her.

In fact, besides feeling REALLY great in the hand from the stand point of ergonomics, they are smooth, rounded and curvy. Hey, they look sweet no matter what you put them on top of, and they stay put while walking around with my 50-feet cords (Self-purchased. The phone comes with a 6 or 9 foot cord - I am guessing). No sudden slipping to the floor by this phone and this is so because they are well built.

I'd venture to say that they are built to last. And, they are built heavy enough to hug that table top, arm-chair's arm or stack of magazines which is a MAJOR plus in my book. Of course any thing is going to hit the floor if you pull too hard. I miss those phones we used to get directly from the phone company when services were ordered. Man they were good phones.

Would I absolutely recommend this phone to you? As of this date I would have to say that I have found the phone to be the better, by a large margin, of the lot of flimsy, light-weighted, bird-chirping pieces of doo-doo owned as of this point. The caller ID uses three AA batteries and is very clear. It is located at the top of the phone's hand device, so, you may need to turn the phone a little to the side if you are lying down in bed. I really do not feel that having to do this makes the phone a no-go...as did a few others. Man, talk about having to have your cake, and eat-it-too!

The dial pad and Caller ID devices ARE NOT back-lit, which would have been an extra good touch as I hate trying to feel around in the dark for a ringing phone, but then again I have taught my family and friends what the difference is between what they call an emergency, and what I consider an emergency, and thereby good reason for waking me up. Violation of this rule, with those who know me, know is a very big OOPS! So, rarely is this an issue. So, there really isn't a need for a telephone night-light.

So, would I recommend this phone? Yes.
