The Apex PD-660S portable DVD player features a broad, 6.5-inch widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) LCD, whose thin-film-resistor construction renders smooth, vivid images. The player offers built-in stereo speakers for headphones-free listening and compatibility with DVD-Video, VCD/SVCD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3-encoded discs, and JPEG picture CDs. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio output (through a coaxial digital-audio cable, not supplied) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver.

Interlaced S-video and composite-video outputs simplify hookup with your home TV. The composite-video and stereo analog audio outputs are switchable as inputs so you can use the PD-660S as a monitor for a camcorder, VCR, or gaming console if you wish. Headphones are not included.

Not Good.......2006-09-14

I took mine out west on a trip and the battery life was about 15 minutes (fully charged). I ran it off the power adapter and could not get through a full movie.
If your DVD/CD's have ANY imperfections this player won't play them. I finally got a brand new audio cd to play straight from the package, although it still skipped whenever you walked through the room.
Not recommended.

This is a cool little player - I've used it for over a year. My only complaint is that it doesn't actually display native DVD resolution, so on screen text in movies can be difficult to read. This thing will play just about any format of DVD except for DVD-RW (+RW works fine, though). DVD's with MP3's on them play well too.

When you charge the batter, you should not do it while hooked up to the player. If your battery doesn't work, you can calibrate it by hooking a 12 volt vehicle light bulb to the + and - terminals of the battery over night, and then charging it up to full (leave it plugged in for about 12 hours). As I used it my battery life went down, but calibrating it (as I mentioned above) got me back up to about 3 hours of life.

I've also used this attached to a TV using the S-Video, and I have used the option to connect my PS2 to it (very cool!)

Apex makes junk.......2005-03-17

Apex Digital products often fail within the first year. They have horrible customer service, false advertising, and fail to honor their warranties. Please check www.labbb.gov (Better Business Bureau) and search for Apex Digital to see the F rating the better business bureau has given them. Saving 10-15 dollars is not worth the hassle they cause.

Didn't Stand the Endurance Test.......2005-02-28

I have the model before this one - the 650S. Hardly had any use on it before my husband passed away. When the grandchildren came to visit I thought, "Great, they can watch DVDs in this little player in the car on the way back home." WRONG. The battery was DEAD and wouldn't charge. As a matter of fact, the battery light would not come on that it was even trying to charge.

However, the unit still works with AC or with DC in the cigarette lighter. But that was not my intention. I first thought about sending it with one granddaughter who came to visit earlier and who would be flying home. "What a great idea to have her take it on the plane and have her mother mail it back to me." But I'm glad I didn't since it would not have worked for her.

Cute? Yes. Great size? Yes. Great product? No. Sorry, folks, thumbs down on this one if you want portability.

Stay Away.......2005-01-09

I just want to warn you about this companies equipment. They don't stand behind it at all. So far I have owned 2 of their prodects and neither one has lasted 1 year. Unfortunately, their warentee is for 90 days. This Portable DVD players battery never worked (I brought 3 of them back before I got one that worked and that one stopped working after 40 days...and the batteries only warenteed for 30 days). This company does not stand behind their products and their customer service...well I guess they call it that...is useless. Trust me...don't buy anything from them. Save your money!!!

If you're looking for a telephone that does it all for a reasonable price, the AT&T 9370 is tough to top. The 900 MHz cordless device combines a digital answering machine and speakerphone in the base, and has a LCD screen on the handset that displays numbers and caller ID information. It takes a little time to program the handset and learn the handset's many features, but the reward is having a telephone that puts all the features anyone would need in the palm of your hand.

Using a few simple menu buttons on the handset, it's possible to recall a number from the unit's memory, redial a previous number, put callers on hold, and access other features. A dedicated answering-machine button let us retrieve our messages straight from the handset, and there was even a jack on the side where a headset can be attached for hands-free operation. Sound quality isn't stellar, but it's comparable to that of similarly-priced 900 MHz phones, and the handset is light, has a short antenna, and is comfortable during use.

The base unit can be mounted either vertically or horizontally and has a complete numeric keypad to use with the speakerphone. The digital answering machine can be split into two separate mailboxes for use as a basic messaging center. We really liked the talking caller-ID feature that let us record names and assign them to certain numbers, making it possible to know if someone important was calling without having to fumble for the handset. It's also is possible to record different answering-machine greetings and assign them to callers, making this unit a sensible choice for home office users who can keep their business calls separate from personal calls.

The fact that the base unit has no LCD for caller-ID information was about the only fault we could find with this phone. It's a terrific deal for anyone in the market for a telephone and answering machine unit who doesn't need the digital security features that digital 900 MHz handsets provide. --T. Byrl Baker

I really like this phone and actually have two of them. It has some great features and does almost anything you would want a phone to do. They had an earlier model that had a handset that was a bit more comfortable, but so far I have no complaints about this phone.

I've had this phone for about 2 years and I already need a replacement. The reception is to the point where no one can hear me when I speak. I'm constantly being asked "What's wrong with your phone"? If you're going to shell out a decent amount of money for a phone, then it should have a longer shelf life than 2 years. I'm relunctant to ever by a AT & T phone again. Think twice before buying this!!

I have owned this phone for about 14 months. I have had static, inability to leave the immediate vicinity of the base unit, etc. Recently, the battery life has shortened so much that the phone is useless for more than 5 minutes. So, after running to grab my other phone on a conversation tonight, I thought I'd go on line and order a replacement battery. But after laughing to the point of crying over some of these reviews (love those people who are slamming their phones to get them to work) I think I will just get a new phone, before my answering machine starts blurting at me in the middle of the night!

Worst & Most Junk Phone.......2003-11-30

I had this phone from last 1year almost. Poor voice quality & sometimes it refuses to connect to the base. It works only up to 20 meters from base & drops the call. Speaker phone is good and I get the nice quality in voice. I think the problem is only with the 900MHz Air interface. We are getting problem with the battery. Battery is getting last for only 5 minutes & doesn't get charge at all. Memory storage and Base access user interface is not that user friendly.
