The Cobra 4000WX 2-way radios are some of the most powerful radios on the market. With its X3 Power Technology, the radios are able to achieve longer range and stronger penetration of buildings, cars, dense woods and other obstacles. The result is a range up to seven miles. To help save power, you can choose between three power output levels. A digital eight point compass, along with a digital clock/alarm/stopwatch are also included. Other features include: thirty-eight sub-channels, twenty-two total channels, key lock, silent vibration alarm, battery saver circuitry, scan feature, illuminated LCD screen and water resistant packaging. A key feature of the radio are the ten NOAA weather channels. For added security, Cobra has given you access to the NOAA All Hazards Alert system which warns you of weather, chemical and other civilian emergencies. Solid, Consistent Quality & Performance.......2004-08-29

My family have owned four of the PR-4000 radios for almost year, and just purchased a PR-4250. They have consistently outperformed every other radio we have tried in the middle area of the market. The battery life on NiMh batteries is amazing. We have sometimes monitored our usual channel and CTCSS pair sometimes for two to three days at a time, including periodic usage!

As for the range, we get a range consistent with an urban use of a UHF transceiver with 3 watt output, and the receiver sensitivity described int the manual. (The switchable 3,2,.5 power output is much appreciated--especially when communicating with other radios using less power.)

Do not expect the seven or ten miles promised on the package. But this is true for any UHF handheld. I think the only way to get that would be for both parties to be on open water and climb the masts on their sailboats... (I really do wish the manufacturers would stop these milage claims.)

So far, these are the best for the money we have found.

License REQUIRED.......2004-06-09

There is a license required for GMRS radios. It is $75. Funny how the merchants don't tell you that. Perhaps because of the "extra" cost? By the way... the fine for unlicensed operation of these radios is up to $10,000.

Wilderness Experience.......2004-04-14

I've been an advisor for the outing club at my high school for over 15 years. We've used several different makes/models but these are THE BEST!!! We've used the Cobra 4000 for cycling & sea kayaking (enclosed in a dry bag), but the situation where they really shine is during wilderness backpacking trips. We frequently split our large group into 3 smaller units. Each unit(usually 12-15 students + 2 advisors) has two radios; one in the front and one in the back. We keep all 6 radios tuned to the same frequency in case of emergency. It's not unusual for each unit to be 3-5 miles away from each other in the mountainous terrain of New Hampshire. We use the "High" power setting on all units and can speak between units quite well. Sure things get a little scratchy as the distances increase but that's to be expected.

TESTED THE 3 WATT COBRA RADIO.......2004-04-05

PURCHASED A SET TODAY AND PUT THEM THRU THE TEST. MATCHED THEM AGAINST THE SP21 MOTOROLA PRO. TESTED ON GMRS FREQS. FIRST THE 3 WATTS DID NOT MEAN ALOT AS THE DISTANCE WAS ABOUT ALMOST 2 MILES IN THE SUBURBAN AREAS TESTED. I GOT MORE DISTANCE OUT OF THE SP21 AND THATS ONLY 2 WATTS. NEXT THE SOUND QUALITY WAS POOR. THE TRANSMIT VOLUME WAS LOW AND NOT VERY LOUD AS A SP21. THE DISPLAY WINDOW WAS HARD TO READ=TOO SMALL OF LETTERING. VERY POOR BACKLIGHT,COULD NOT REALLY TELL IF IT HAD A LIGHT AT ALL. POORLY CONSTRUCTED,FELT CHEAP IN THE HAND. BUTTONS HARD TO PUSH. I AM TAKEING THEM BACK TO WALLMART FOR A REFUND. NOT WORTH ANY MONEY IN MY OPINION. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL=BIG ZERO. ONE FINAL NOTE. IT HAS A GREAT DIGITAL ELECTRONIC COMPASS SO IF YOU NEED A COMPASS BUT IT BUT IF YOU INTEND ON USEING IT AS A 2 WAY RADIO FORGET IT.

I have no complaints with this power supply, but all i'm am using it to power is an old pentium II machine that doesn't require alot of juice. Overall this product installs easy just like any other power supply and would probably be sufficient for any basic pc. I give this power supply a 5* because it meets all my system requirements and has gave me no trouble.

This is the worst monitor I've bought.

Right out of the box, the screen had a bluish tint at the left corner. It took some time but I finally got the thing to work right.

Avoid your problems and this lemon. Buy CTX or anything else. But never again will I purchase a Viewsonic.

This is one of the worst monitors I've ever encountered. It is very blurry. It turned itself off then reappeared with the most horrible blurry screen I've ever seen! I rebooted my machine and it returned to normal.....only to do it again 20 minutes later!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS MONITOR! I am a computer professional....I have seen many monitors...this is by far the WORST.ALSO take not its not flat at all...Viewsonice put a flat piece of glass in front of the CURVED tube to FOOL you!

Great Monitor FANTASTIC Price.......2003-01-22

Viewsonic has delivered a TOP-Notch 17 inch monitor that blows away the competition in price/performance with it's perfectly flat 17 inch screen!

I was looking high and low for a good addition to the Sony Computer I recently bought and I keep coming back to Viewsonic based on recommendations of my co-workers and friends who have Viewsonics and from recommendations in articles. The 17 inch tube is PERFECTLTY flat which is great for webpages and gaming alike. The picture is crystal clear and the colors are vibrant.

I was considering the 'Multimedia' Viewsonic with built-in speakers but if you have good speakers you might want to save your money and get this non-multimedia version. I have heard the speakers on my friend's Multimedia monitor but I thought my speakers were just as good if not better. It's a personal choice. You can always do better with stand alone speakers and a good sub-woofer (a must for gaming).

Setup was a piece of cake and they delivered this thing FAST.

When you open this box you see the quality. It is built to outlast the computer, that's for sure. And at around 37 or 40 pounds it is EASY to lift. Weight is something I was concerned about too. Also you will find that the depth of the monitor is not much greater than a 15 inch monitor. This 17 inch monitor easily fits on my small work area easily with room to spare!

The 25 mm dot pitch gives me a clear view of my work. I fell in love with Gateways VX series monitors which are great. But this Viewsonic E70f is right up there in quality and performance with high-end monitors. And the warranty tells me Viewsonic believes in this monitor's quality. Viewsonic would not have a 3 year warranty if they were darn sure it would last alot longer than 3 years!

I expected to wait a week or more but they delivered in about 3 days! Buy one you will love it!
