Mouse Trouble.......2004-07-17

This KVM works as expected except for two problems. Sometimes the mouse will stop working for me as if I was to unplug and the replug the mouse from the machine. I guess there is a slight glitch in the electrical connection when the KVM switches between computers. It's really annoying because when this happens you must reboot the computer to get the mouse functionality back. Also, this KVM beeps a couple of times when you switch between computers. I have not been able to turn this feature off and I would rather just have a silent KVM switch. But, it isn't a complete piece of crap. Most of the time it does it's job ok.

Also note that the KVM does not come with a power supply. Theoretically it can draw all of it's power from the PS/2 keyboard connection of the computers. But, in practice I've found that not all computers are able to deliver enough power. You may have to buy a 5V-9V DC power adapter of your own, I did.

Mine crumbled apart after one washing........2007-07-03

I pre-washed my shirt. I tested my art by printing it out on a plain sheet of paper before using the iron-on sheet. The iron-on sheet came out looking great! I followed the instructions to transfer the image, and again, everything went perfect and looked great.

The trouble came when I washed the shirt. The transfer did not survive. It came out of a gentle wash cycle looking VERY crackled and even peeling off a bit. I was crushed. I wear my crackled shirt around the house, but it's not fit for the public. The dark shirt transfers seem to have gotten much better reviews, but I'm scared to try them because of how horrible this one came out.

They have a sticker on the packages saying the colors are brighter and they won't crack. I tried those first and they are beautiful. I bought some more, but they didn't have the sticker on them. Those must be what everyone here is reviewing. The old ones are indeed waxy with okay colors. I hope they don't peel like everyone says. But those improved ones are wonderful - brilliant colors and nice feel, not waxy at all. Trust me, there is a difference. I haven't washed the new improved ones yet, but they do look like they are durable and will withstand the wash. Wish there was a way to tell if the package we are getting from Amazon is new or old. I think the stock number is the same.

I wouldn't waste my money on these again. The transfer ironed on just fine, the paper backing peeled away smoothly, but there was a waxy, plastic like coating on the transfer itself. It felt stiff and unpleasant, but I thought maybe it would be better after washing. No such luck. Now the waxy coating is peeling and flaking off--the front of the T-shirt looks like a giant Frosted Flake.

I'm very disappointed with this product.

These are awful. I've used another brand's iron-on transfers before with no problem. These not only made all the whites in the design yellow-ish, but they fell apart on the first wash - even turning them inside out.

Whether you're already set up with an integrated high-definition television or have yet to hook up a DTV receiver with your HD-ready monitor or TV, the simple fact is you'll still be watching standard-resolution video from any number of sources, including DVD players, cable boxes, VCRs, video-game consoles, camcorders, and satellite receivers. The HDTV Upconverter from ADS Technologies (model HDUP1500) was designed to address these very sources, enhancing not only 480i but 480p (progressive-scan) sources as well.

The device automatically converts your standard- and enhanced-definition (SD and EDTV) video signals to high-definition 720p, 1080i, and other user-selectable resolutions. The Upconverter even includes an analog cable-ready NTSC TV tuner so you can add TV tuning capabilities to plasma, LCD, and projectors that don't include a TV tuner.

Another of the Upconverter's primary functions is audio/video switching. You can connect up to nine AV sources and easily switch from one video source to another while you watch. Inputs consist of three each composite-video, S-video, SD/HD component-video (480i, 480p, 720p, or 1080i), and a single RF input for a cable box or VCR. A single HD component-video cable (Y Pr Pb) connects the UpConverter to your TV.

CinemaView picture enhancements include 3D noise reduction, sharpening, an adaptive four-line comb filter, 9-bit A to D conversion (2x oversampled), 10-bit digital-to-analog progressive or interlaced output, and color space conversion. Programs that was originally shot on film--such as movies, cartoons, and many TV shows--were converted from 24 frame per second to 30 fps video for TV viewing. The HDTV UpConverter utilizes film-mode detection and 2:2 and 3:2 inverse pulldown to restore these programs to their original frame rates, rendering them as seamless, flicker-free progressive-scan images.

The Upconverter adds as many as six times more pixels to normal video signals without incurring artifacts. Understand that this is not the same as displaying actual HDTV-originated content. Only content that was created with HDTV cameras and preserved at HDTV resolutions is true HDTV. The UpConverter enhances the resolution and image quality of non-HD sources and formats the video and aspect ratio (16:9 or 4:3) to match the capabilities of your HDTV display. Some HD reception is broadcast at lower resolutions or resolutions that do not match your display; you can use the HDTV UpConverter to either up-convert or down-convert to the resolution you prefer.

The Upconverter can only display full HD 1080i input signals in Pillar box mode, with black borders on left and right sides of the image. The 1080i signal can be down converted to a different resolution, however, such as 720p, so the image can then fill your screen as desired. The device also offers advanced PIP, POP, or PIP blending with multiple display settings.

Not for Comcast / Motorola DVR users.......2005-09-30

Start off with the bad news. I have a Motorola DVR / Converter box with my Comcast cable service, and the Comcast remote sends the ADS box into gonzo fits. Attempting to use the menu button on the cable remote causes the ADS box to switch inputs. Using the cable DVR fast-forward button cycles the ADS through screen formats with each button push, etc. I contacted ADS tech service and they responded that the only fix was to physically separate the two boxes so the remotes could be aimed at one at a time.

Obviously, this is not acceptable.

Too bad because this box does a much better job than my Philips Cineos at upscaling. Tivo, analog cable, DVD, Laserdisc all look better. The improvement is more than worth the hassle of having another remote to handle, but definitely not worth it if you have a Motorola cable box that will conflict.

5 stars for video quality, 3 stars for user interface (which is not so great), subtract all but 1 star for failure to publicise conflict and for failure to solve conflict.

A Good Line Doubler for the Price.......2005-08-21

For the Price, I doubt you could do better. True, there are higer-end devices out there that will improve your picture to the pinnacle of performance, but if all you're after is a significant improvement in the quality of EVERY channel and DVD you watch, you can't beat the ADS for it's price. The biggest flaw is the device's inability to deal with program material that has excessive light or white backgrounds, where the device either creates artifacts or attempts to correct resolution causing my Philips Plasma set to black-out for moments. This aside, I'm very happy with the ADS, especially it's under $300 price. One day maybe I'll upgrade to a unit by DVDO, but not until they come don to the sub-$500 range.

HDUP1500 HDTV Upconverter.......2005-08-08

This is about the least expensive Scaler you will find, Period. I have a Home Theater system which includes a Front projection system with a D-Theater 40000u JVC VCR and a high end DVD Player. The Projectors native resolution is 1024x768. I set the HD VCR for 1080i and use the HDUP1500 HDTV to downconvert the D-theater to my projectors maximum resolution. The Picture looks great. I also use the Scaler to upscale DVD and it does a good job. When you enlarge a dvd Image without the use of the upconverter on a 100" screen it doesnt stand up too well and Normal Televison fairs even worse. This scaler upconverts both and I cant begin to tell what an improvement this scaler makes on quality. One improvement they should make is to include an rgb connection. My projector does not have a component connection so I use a KDS Transcoder. While there are scalers that do a better job they dont come close to the bang for buck you get out of this unit.

Does its job and then some.......2005-03-05

I still have to review some of the finer functions of the unit, but overall, it does its job. One major bonus that most overlook, it eliminates a ton of wires going to the monitor/tv. That is a huge saving right offthe bat. The native pass-through of 1080i looks good. A 408i Directv/Tivo looks great upconverted too. I found the remote to be a bit clunky when changing inputs and using PIP. It might be just a case of getting used to it. I am looking for a way of hiding select inputs. Overall this product simplifies installation of multiple devices and looks good too.
