Step back.......2007-09-23
I liked the first generation iPod shuffle better. It was small enough and it could be used as USB flash drive without carrying shuffle specific USB cable. I do not see single advantage of second generation iPod shuffle over the first one.
Ipod Shuffle 2nd Genatation.......2007-09-22
I purchased for my wife but I am the one that maintains it since my wife is a technophobe. My wife likes the small size and easy controls because it's great for her to take to the gym and on her walks. It is relatively easy to install but requires you at least have ITunes 7.0. In my opinion loading songs is not very intuitive and I know my wife would not be able to do it. I don't like that you can't tell what song is playing because there is no readout. I don't like that you have to actually copy songs from a cd to your computer to download to the device instead of just being able to load a cd and drag songs from the cd. The songs you add have to remain on your computer or the next time you connect the device to sync the songs you previously loaded will be erased. And the songs have to remain checked in ITunes or they will be erased. You have to buy a separate charger if you don't want to have to use the docking station which has to be connected to your pc therefore using a usb connection. Also, it has no radio tuner. It is for all these reasons I only give it a 2 rating. As I said my wife likes it but I would not recommend it.
Orange shuffle rocks my walks!.......2007-09-22
I absolutely adore my orange shuffle for a number of reasons: its tiny, lightweight size, sturdy metallic encasing, vibrant color, Zen-like simplicity, clear sound quality, generous battery life, and ability to clip anywhere (I clip mine into my jeans pocket). In fact, I love mine so much that I got one for my partner, a painting contractor. In fact, she loves it so much for work that she wants a second one! I just ordered the new Product Red shuffle for her through the Apple Store. One shuffle has her rock, and the other will have all one artist. The 1GB of space is more than enough for a gadget with no screen. Honestly, I don't want a screen when I use my shuffle. That's what my 8GB nano is for. Between my walks with the dogs, watering the yard, and my partner's painting business, we both could not be more elated with our shuffles. Except for the cord on the cradle, this is the PERFECT music machine.
iPod Shuffle is Great.......2007-09-22
The iPod is efficiently designed and easy to use. The thumb control is simple and can be used without looking at it. The manual is written in English by an English-speaking person! This is fairly remarkable, in the technology world. I love my iPod so much, that I bought one for my partner.
I love my new Ipod Shuffle!.......2007-09-22
My new Ipod is great! I loved it! and probably I will keep shopping in amazon.com ;)

Product Description
The super-slim iPod redefines what a digital music player should be. It's lighter than 2 CDs, can hold thousands of songs, and downloads music at blazing speeds. Now you can take your entire music collection with you wherever you go.Smaller than ever, the new iPod fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and slips easily into your pocket - and your life. And yet the iPod gives you a huge hard drive. Do the math: that's space enough to store three weeks of music - played continuously, 24/7 - or one new song a day for the next 20 years.Once again, Apple turns the portable digital music player market on its ear with hassle-free functionality and stunning, well-considered design that place iPod far ahead of the curve and the competition. Building on the success of the touch wheel (which made scrolling through an entire music collection quick and easy), the new iPod has been re-engineered with an all-touch interface for enhanced durability and sensitivity. With an LCD screen and buttons that feature a backlight for clear visibility in low-light conditions, iPod is designed for easy one-handed operation. So the best way to take an entire music collection anywhere is now even better.Designed to give you the best portable digital music experience ever, the iPod delivers the highest sound quality from input to output. iPod supports the most popular audio formats - including MP3, MP3 Variable Bit Rate (VBR) and WAV - giving you access to a wide range of audio file types. And iPod is the only portable digital music player that supports the AAC format (Mac-only), which features CD-quality audio in smaller file sizes than MP3, so that even more songs fit on your iPod.

iPods.......2006-05-08
I would not suggest buying this iPod as it does not come with required accesories and it costs more than a brand new 30GB video iPod. The three stars are just because iPods are excellent and I would reccomend them to anyone.
Off-roading Machine.......2006-02-09
When I first received this Xmas gift from my best friend Morris, I thought.. 'wow, cool. I wonder how long it will last with my crazy lifestyle?' But I am happy to say that 3 years later, this lil iPod machine is still running strong. After 40+ camping trips, plenty of dirt road driving, sandy beaches & hiking, it's very impressive that it works as well as it did the first month. The clear plastic face plate & chrome back are all scratched up & it looks like hell, but it works! IMy iPod has even out-lasted my unbelievable amazing mountain man.
Very expensive paperweight.......2005-11-03
Well I bought my 10 gb iPod July 6 2003, but have been pretty busy so not until October 2005 did I take it out and try it. And found I can't do anything with it. I have a Compaq PC running Windows ME. The iPod User's Guide says it runs on ME. So I charged it up, installed the iPod software, plugged in the iPod to the PC via the extra Dock Connector to USB 2.0 cable, Windows said Installing for new USB storage device, got a brief window saying it was recognized as an Apple iPod, got a display on the iPod saying "Do not disconnect", got the window from iPod installation software saying "Configuring iPod", and then get nothing but a repeated window saying "Please plug in your new iPod so it can be reconfigured". And that's all folks.
So it did kill about 16 hours of time time trying various things (each time restoring my PC back to the point it was before it first saw the iPod), which is a different experience for me. It's good to do different things once in a while.
And I can look on the bright side. Although it's too small for a doorstop, it does make a stylish paperweight. And someday in the next few years I'll probably get a new computer and I can try all over again.
Small but great.......2004-11-29
I have one of these and I listen to it everywhere I go, great sound quality and good battery life. I have run out of space however, so I would recommend a newer one with a larger hard drive.
ayyeee.......2004-09-17
So easy to use, and really cool in the with a tape deck or itrip.
Recommend to anyone.

Amazon.com Product Description
Packing 2,000 songs and a 10-hour battery into a stunning 6.5-ounce package, the Apple iPod is the smallest hard drive-based MP3 player available, about the size of a deck of cards. Just plug it into your Mac and all your iTunes songs and playlists are automatically downloaded into iPod at blazing FireWire speed.
The 10 GB hard drive stores up to 2,000 MP3 song files (at 160 Kbps encoding rate) and also doubles as disk storage for applications and other files. A high-output (60-mW) amplifier provides CD-quality sound with a wide dynamic range, from deep, pulse-pounding bass to sharp, crystal-clear highs.
In addition to its 10 GB hard drive, iPod has a 32 MB memory cache. The cache is made up of solid-state memory, meaning that it has no moving parts, so it's not affected by movement of the device. Skip protection on the iPod works by continually preloading up to 20 minutes of music into the cache.
The iPod has a large, high-quality liquid crystal display (LCD) for viewing up to six lines of text. And the LCD features a white-light-emitting diode (LED) backlight for clear visibility in low-light situations--indoors or outdoors. Pocket-size and just 6.5 ounces, it weighs appreciably less than the stack of CDs it can store music from.
Featuring Apple's award-winning iTunes 2 software, the iPod can synchronize with newly added music files and playlists. Simply plug the iPod back into your Mac and the changes are automatically updated in seconds. And with iTunes 2, you can rip MP3s, create playlists, and burn custom CDs all from one simple interface.
Its rechargeable lithium battery is charged using the FireWire cable when connected to your Mac. You can also recharge the iPod using the included FireWire cable and AC adapter when you're on the go.
The iPod supports MP3 (up to 320 Kbps), MP3 Variable Bit Rate (VBR), WAV, and AIFF files, and is firmware upgradable. To use the iPod with your Mac you'll need a FireWire port and you must be running either Mac OS 9.2.1 (or later) or Mac OS X v10.1 (or later). The iPod is not compatible with Windows operating systems.
It comes with earbud-style headphones, a FireWire cable, power adapter, and CD-ROM with iTunes 2. It's backed by a 90-day limited warranty.

Apple 10 GB Second Generation iPod.......2005-03-19
This is one of the best generation of iPods I have ever seen. It is what people now consider the "old" iPod even though it's really only 2 or 3 years old. 10 gigabytes holds about 2,000 songs at near CD-Quality. At 10 hours of battery life you can enjoy music on the road or on a plane ride. This is pretty thin especially for a 2nd-Generation iPod. It is .78" in depth while the new 4th-Generation is .57. The battery life in the new generation is 12 hours so there is only 2 hours in difference. This iPod has a scroll wheel. It's much better and not mechanical like the first generation. It connects either through FireWire or FireWire 400. It's mostly metal at the top and there is a cover for the connectivity ports, unlike the first-generation. There was a 10GB and 20GB version for Mac or Windows. Now all the iPods can be compatible with Mac and Windows. It comes with MusicMatch Jukebox as it's software which isn't too bad but iTunes is much better. What is included in the package is the iPod, case, remote control, connectivity wires, power adapter, and software. It costed me around $399.99 which is extremely expensive but back then MP3 Players were still pretty new. It's 6.5 ounces which isn't too bad but is still kind of heavy. You should look into the iPod but not this one. Look into the new fourth generation iPod or any kind of iPod you want. But this 2nd Generation iPod is one of the best iPods in the 4th generation collection.
The best there is!.......2003-10-26
This is the best! Superior audio quality. Excellent battery life (8-10 hours). Super fast transfer using Firewire. Very intuitive and easy to use menus. Great feature set including contact lists, calendar, games and more. If you know a music lover, this would make a great gift! I take this thing everywhere. I would recommend the Sennheiser PX 100 headphones (available on Amazon for under 40 dollars) as a must have accessory for this. I also like the ability to use this as a firewire hard drive which allows backup of important files from my hard drive. It costs more than the competition but is worth EVERY bit of it.
Get any other mp3 player and you will regret it.......2003-05-29
I bought mine a little less than a year ago and it has been great since day one. It is compact, can be used as an emergency startup disk for Macintosh computers, and the controls makes navigation a piece of cake. I also have a Nomad Jukebox and a friend at work has the Archos Jukebox...I can't believe how archaic those things are, if you want to navigate to a certain song it will take you minutes. WIth my iPod and the scroll wheel, it takes no time to find what you want. The sound is crystal, the battery usage is amazing, it still cranks out 8-10 hours after all this time. My biggest gripe was that there were no battery replacements offered, but now for $ you can get a new battery...so all in all I have yet to find a flaw on this puppy. The firewire transfer of songs is simply mindblowing. Buy any other mp3 player and you will regret it even more now that you have just read this :)
A Gem of a Product.......2002-11-11
The iPod is a fantastic MP3 player. From a design standpoint, there is no competition - nowhere an MP3 player as cool. I swear, if there is one piece of electronics that will get you girls this is it (seriously).
You can transfer 10 gigs in under 15 minutes (note that 10 gigs with a USB connection will take hours upon hours). I often visit friends and download their entire iTunes music library onto the iPod in minutes. You can't, by the way, copy iPod music to a computer - only computer to an iPod, for copyright reasons of course.
The iPod has a very intuitive and easy-to-use interface - just 5 buttons and a scroll wheel control the whole thing. I happen to really like the new touch-sensitive scroll wheel. The quickest way to get a feel for the interface is to actually go to the Apple site, where they demo the interface very nicely: ...
<
My only complaints with the interface is that long song names will be cutoff (except in play mode, where the song title scrolls across the screen) - this makes it sometimes tricky to view items in the iPod by song title.
In terms of sound-quality, I now import my CDs at 128kbs (to maximize space)... and on the iPod it sounds fine (no hissing, or problems of any kind that I can notice). The iPod will play very loud, which is an improvement over the old model, I have heard.
I listen to my iPod with headphones, in the car (with a audio tape adaptor), and at home connected to our receiver. Again, no complains with volume and sound quality. You might, however, have a number of MP3s that play at different volumes - and this can either startle you or make you think nothing is playing. The "Sound Check" feature of the iPod supposedly addresses this issue - however, it doesn't seem to make to much of a difference in my opinion.
Battery life for me has been at about 5 hours (I think)... but I keep the iPod volume very high on the unit when in the car.
My only real complaint is with how easily the unit scratches, but really, if you take good care of it, scratches will be minimal.

Amazon.com Product Description
The iPod is not just for Macs anymore. Windows users can now join the iPod revolution, and enjoy several exceptional new iPod features as well. The 10 GB Windows model packs 2,000 songs and a 10-hour battery life into a stunning 6.5-ounce package, and Apple ups the ante with new MusicMatch software; a redesigned, touch-sensitive scroll wheel; red-hot FireWire digital file transfers; a wired remote control; and an overhauled calendar/scheduler.
The iPod's setup and interface are simple: just plug it into your PC and all your songs and playlists are automatically downloaded into iPod at blazing FireWire speed--typically 15 seconds or less. (FireWire is also known to PC users as i.Link and IEEE 1394.) Don't forget that the player also doubles as a FireWire drive for applications and other files. This new model also comes with a FireWire port cover to protect the player from dirt and other gunk.
In addition to its 10 GB hard drive, iPod has a 32 MB memory cache. The cache is made of solid-state memory, meaning that it has no moving parts, so it's not affected by movement of the device. Skip protection on the iPod works by continually preloading up to 20 minutes of music into the cache.
The iPod has a large, high-quality LCD (liquid crystal display) for viewing up to six lines of text. And the LCD features an LED (light-emitting diode) backlight for clear visibility in low-light situations--indoors or outdoors. Pocket-size and just 6.5 ounces, it weighs appreciably less than the stack of CDs it can store music from.
Featuring MusicMatch software, the iPod can synchronize with newly added music files and playlists. Simply plug the iPod back into your PC and the changes are automatically updated in seconds. With MusicMatch, you can rip MP3s, create playlists, and burn custom CDs all from one simple interface. And thanks to a cool new partnership with audible.com, you can now download audiobooks to the iPod.
You can also download your calendar and schedule to the iPod from applications like Outlook and Palm Desktop. Plus, the iPod now has a built-in digital clock.
The iPod's rechargeable lithium-polymer battery is charged using the FireWire cable when connected to your PC. You can also recharge the iPod using the included FireWire cable and AC adapter when you're on the go.
The iPod supports MP3 (up to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR (variable bit rate), WAV, and AIFF files, and is firmware upgradeable. To use the iPod with your PC, you'll need a FireWire port and you must be running either Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP Home or Professional.
The unit comes with a wired remote control, revamped earbud-style headphones, a FireWire cable, power adapter, and CD-ROM with MusicMatch. It's backed by a 90-day limited warranty.

Too expensive..........2007-08-30
For those of you retarded enough to buy this... congrats.. but this is a first generation Ipod.. so more than 5yrs old..or just about.. 175 dollars.. is ridiculous.. it should be about 50 bucks.. no more..
Apple's Seeds of Joy.......2004-05-23
I take my iPod everywhere, I have had it since Christmas, it is the single most useful invention I have ever owned, I have my whole Hip-Hop collection on it. But a few weeks ago it said I only had .5 gb left and I only 800 songs on it, but after a quick reset and reload of songs (it took 5 minutes honest!) it was back to new. You should definately get a case for these, I have kept mine in a case for its whole life and it looks as good as new.
Pros: Holds all but the biggest music collections, great quality in sound and product, long battery life, great software
Cons: Occasionally crashes
For all those people that say by a cheaper mp3 player I used to have the iRiver, and I through it out of my window 1 day because it was so terrible, trust me the ipod is the best designed and for the price you are paying you get more songs.
Best There Is!!!.......2004-01-27
Just got the 10-gig I-pod Friday (picked up on sale as Apple is dropping 10-gig in favor of "mini" and "15-gig"). All I can say is awesome. I never had Apple before and was skeptical. But all my fears were erased. I have a 6 month-old Compaq at home and had no problems getting the two to sync up. Literally "plug and play". Bonus is, if your Windows PC has a newer fire-wire port, it will even charge the I-pod while downloading music. I have about 250 songs (20 albums) on it right now, and using just over 2-gig. I read a lot about people having problems sync-ing their window-based PCs to I-pod. Based on my experience, I can only guess they are using older PCs (I have a pentium-4, 2.2, 256). One tip, if you're "ripping" CDs to put on your I-pod, be logged into the web. I-tunes will literally fill out all the song/track information for you (a little tid-bit I found by accident).
Nomad beats the Ipod by a Mile.......2004-01-26
I have recently got an Ipod and I thought is was the best Mp3 player until I did a lot of looking around. The Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra kicks the Ipod so much.
Pros:
1. Eax sound feature which is creatives sound card technoligy so it sounds a lot better
2. The 30gb Nomad cost $300 while the 10gb Ipod cost $400
3. built for windows. No firewire stuff.
4. better features and custmizing
5. no need to use musicmatch or anything just install software and you can put any song on it no matter where the location.
6. big screen with blue backlight.
7. Can replace rechargeable battery
8. Up to 60gb hard drive
Cons:
1. A little bigger than the Ipod
Yuck.......2003-10-26
I bought one of the Windows Ipods when they first came out and have had nothing but trouble with the software for downloading music and books (Audible). Music and books would have gaps or be completly unplayable. I would advise looking at the user comments on Apples own web site before buying one of these.

Good cover, but very cheaply made.......2007-01-21
I bought this to protect my iPod video player and it does the trick. It works well to keep it from being scratched and I can still easily scroll through my menu without problems.
The only thing I don't like about the case is that it's very gummy. It picks up dirt very easily and if it's near anything with fuzz, it'll pick it up. So you spend a lot of time picking things off of the case.
Overall the case is good and it works for the money, but it's nothing that'll make your iPod flash.
Love it!.......2006-12-19
This cover is exactly what I was looking for... and it's so inexpensive! I highly recommend this cover for anyone looking for something for their video iPod. You can't go wrong with the price.
Awesome product!!.......2006-10-16
This is a really nice case, and sooo inexpensive!! I love how the skin covers the scroll wheel! Buy it!!

Customer Reviews:
not exactly what i expected........2007-08-07
i have an older ipod (20gig with clickwheel, pre-color, pre-video). i used to have a clear silicone "skin" case, but over time it ripped and looked very dirty, regardless of cleaning. it's near impossible to find a case in stores now that fits my older model ipod, so i turned to the internet. i was looking for something more streamlined and entirely clear/hard plastic, but the look of this one, as well as the price, won me over.
this case is a bit bigger and clunkier than i expected it to be; no exact dimensions are listed, and i didn't think twice about it. but aside from the size, it looks nice, and i've dropped it several times onto pavement and it doesn't have a scratch on it. the foam/neoprene lining creates a layer between the case and the ipod, resulting in the additional girth. overall i was surprised, even disappointed by the size when i first took it out of the box, but i've been happy with it nonetheless.
