Great TV.......2006-11-21

I got this TV a few months back, when it was priced lower. Would still buy it at the current price.
The TV itself is a great value, ALL METAL construction, everything is cast aluminum and glass. Just the back panel is plastic! Picture is great, though only 420p, and perfect for a bedroom. Only complaint is that my Tivo remote does not work on it, so there are two remotes in my bedroom. So that said, if you are on the fence about this TV, I like it and it is a good buy compared to a lot others.

BEST LARGE FLAT SCREEN MONITOR BAR NONE.......2002-08-31

After looking at all the monitors for high resolution graphics work available on the market and checking their quality and support levels I settled on this monitor and have not been disappointed. This monitor does not have the trinitron screen grid where two horizontal support wires show up on your screen at high resolution settings (very annoying!) that is common in high end monitors. Take this baby to the max resolution of the monitor and you seen nothing but rich unmarred colorful pixels.

Hitachi should get more credit as a company for the quality of their products.

A fantastic bargain: superb, musical, full-range sound.......2003-02-04

These are excellent bookshelf 2-way speakers, there is no question of that. Their fantastic price (even the MSRP is a good deal!) is only a bonus. Magnetically shielded, rear ported and sweet sounding, these Advents make two-year old Polk Audio, Infinity, Klipsch, JBL and Boston Acoustics 2-ways at twice the price quake in their proverbial boots!
Check the measurements of the speaker box carefully: these are somewhat larger and heavier than most 6.5" 2-way speakers, and they sound better for it. Decently deep (appreciable output at 40Hz in my listening room), satisfying bass and the sweet highs I've come to expect from a well-implemented silk dome tweeter.
I and a friend ended up ordering five pairs of these from an auction site to create home theater systems. Since they are magnetically shielded, you can use them as center channel speakers by putting them on their side. They sound better in that capacity than most $150 (each!) center channel speakers.
We were extremely impressed. Add an inexpensive 8-10" powered subwoofer and an inexpensive dolby digital reciever, and off you go!
A great way to introduce a teenager to "real" stereo equipment: buy a cheap stereo reciever, a CD deck and a pair of these. No stereo minisystem will compete.

Made by the Famous Electronic Manufacturer "UNIDEN" makes for its even higher quality and value. Compared to any other scanner in its league it offers more for less. Good bang for only a few bucks.......2005-08-10

Seems like most reviews are either they hate it or they worship it. I'm sort of in the middle. I wasn't looking for an HDTV quality picture when shopping for a 27" TV so I'm not disappointed with this set. The picture quality is average. The color is great, much brighter than a similarly priced 27" Sharp set next to it, and helps the picture look better overall. The sound isn't earth shattering, but this set is for my bedroom so booming speakers aren't a priority. With the size, 3-line digital filter, connection options, and the price ($187) it's a pretty good deal. I haven't seen any other 27" with those features at that price point. The remote is a bit odd in that it uses a Lithium-ion watch battery instead of the usual AA or AAA batteries (read: no rechargeables). I have no plans to replace the original battery but I have a leftover universal remote so it's no big deal. If you're realistic when buying this set, you'll be fine. If you expect an awesome HDTV 27" picture for less than $200, you should shop elsewhere.

Bought it for the features, but..........2005-02-09

I returned a Toshiba 27" Model 27A34 for this one because the Toshiba just didn't have enough features to warrant its $250 price tag (but, it had a great picture with a flatter screen). I just had to have this one because it was so featured-packed. And, I really wanted the front panel lock. This TV has a gorgeous picture, and then, something happens to dark backgrounds. It seems to do something weird to dark colors (black, grey). You kind of see the pixels. I've adjusted everything to no avail. It was so bad that I had to use component jacks to hook up my satellite to the first input jack for a better picture. It only helped a little bit. And, might I add that this is the second one we bought because I thought the first one was defective (yes, am driving the husband crazy-this is the 3rd TV in one week). I am still debating what we will do with this one. I am still trying to find a comparable model with the same features.

Update, 9/20/07: STAY AWAY FROM THIS TELEVISION. The screen is so dark I avoid watching my favorite shows on it. Can't wait to get a new one. Cannot believe such a poor product could come from what I thought was a good name. Am very sorry we chose this television.

I have seen the light, and it is the JVC 27" miracle. I used to pray to a lesser God, a Toshiba 20" something-or-other, but I have been sanctified. God bless JVC, and God bless television.
