This is one of many refurbished items I've bought from Amazon, and if I don't tell someone it's not new, they won't know. Looks new; same packaging as new; manual and all the accessories are there; no scratches. This phone is great for my elderly mother who has a bad knee and can't walk like she used to. I have one handset by the TV and the other one near the couch. All she has to do is reach up and grab it. The service was superb. It didn't take that long to get here at all. Thanks, people.

I don't think you're going to find anything better for under $40. Good quality, easy to use. Styling is a little outdated (compared to today's cell phones), but a good choice for any home or small business.

I purchased a refurbished phone to have one handset in my basement and one on the main floor. The unit works well. All features works as advertised. The intercom feature is handy for reaching someone on another floor using the phone.
Also, the feature that allows you to modify a logged number for correct callback (by taking out the area code or inserting a "1", etc.) is handy and saves much time. A solid unit.

We've had these phones a few months. Overall the call quality is good and the answering machine works well. For the price, it is a very good deal. Our biggest complaint is that the phone's off and on button our positioned such that you may occasionally hit them with your ear as you lean the phone on your shoulder. This has happened several times resulting in cutting people off.

This phone turned out to be just what I wanted, an answering machine with an extension telephone. It works great the handsets and answering machine have great clarity and I really like the intercome, great for my small buisness.

Nice Phone.......2007-09-06
I like this phone a lot. I use it for my business.I use a headset, so there is a jack on both the base and cordless unit. The only thing I DON'T like is the manual doesn't exlain things clearly and getting a tech support person is impossible. Its ALL menu's, NO option for a LIVE person, so if you buy this phone and neec tech support or even to help set it up as I had to, click option 1 then option 2 (to purchase a phone) and ask for a tech support person, you are connected right away.

All keys are totally dysfunctional. I tried plugging into a different location after 5 minute gaps and all other options.
CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE:
They asked me to try plugging the answering machine base into other locations around the house after removing batteries from the cordless units.
Unfortunately I barely ran out of warranty to take advantage of the warranty replacement process.
Please advise if there is a fix for this.
I obviously misspent $199 + $75 for the second cordless unit.

I actually find the sound quality and range pretty good, but I think the system is designed poorly. I can't tell you how many times I have been on the phone and wanted to scroll through my caller ID to get a number for someone I was talking to. No dice, it won't do that. There are a number of issues like that. I can't program it to prefer line 2 to make calls. You may think this is a not a big deal, except I don't like to reveal the line 1 number to my clients via there caller ID. So there went my private line.
Also the belt clip is worthless and after what seemed like hours on the customer support line they want to charge me $5.00 to replace it even though the phone is still under warranty. I'll try a different brand next time.

Sound quality is poor more than about 20' away. I had to the move the base to the center of the house (rather than the kitchen where we wanted it) to get it to work at all. I had to return a unit. Now I'm stuck with it sort of working but with clicky-popy sound. Don't buy this system.

For the price I paid ($145) this phone has a looot of shortcomings. For e.g., if you pick up the receiver, there's no way to press the redial option. The redial option is only available on the screen when the phone is on the hook. Secondly, if line 2 rings and you pick the phone up, it goes into line 1. Instead of line 2 (duh..)
The cordless has a very short battery life has to be constantly recharged!!
Also, if you have a power cut, both phones don't work. I bought this one thinking at least the corded phone would work (GE has a model like that) but unfortunately, I was mistaken.
It's a good phone all-in-all, and serves the purpose of a 2-line corded + cordless set, but it's overpriced. Next time I'm sticking with GE!

Incredible Clarity and Range.......2003-12-11
This phone is amazing! I really didn't need an answering machine, but I picked up this cordless gem for $50 (refurbished), and I'm very happy with it.
I've had the phone for a week now, and I take it with me when I'm walking the dog. The calls are clear with no breakup. I have tested this phone and have talked on it from almost a block away. I experienced problems when the microwave is on and I'm in the same room, but so what? All I had to do was move about 12 feet away to stop the static.
The only reason that I'm not giving it 5 stars is that it's a bit difficult to program the speed dial numbers - mainly because I'm trying to read the instructions while pushing the buttons - after a minute or so, if you don't get the info entered quickly enough, you have to start over again. But that's a small complaint.
I have no comments on the answering machine - I am using the phone over the Internet (Vonage) - so all my unanswered calls go to a voice mailbox.
In short, if you want a great phone and can pick this one up refurbished, I suggest doing so. Obviously, I can't comment yet on durability or long term reliabilty yet, but I felt stongly enough about my initial experience with this phone to write this review.

have had for quite some time. no problems. love the handset. you can actually feel the weight. i'm sick of these phones that the handset feels like you're using a kids toy.
Talk button keeps breaking.......2002-02-24
The phone came with a one year warrenty. At 13 months, the talk button on the handset broke. We could not make a call or answer a call using the handset. Called Uniden, but never could get through to customer service. Finally, we bought a replacement handset through Uniden... The handset had a 3 month warrenty. In the 4th month, the talk button on the new handset broke. We now have a fully functioning base unit and two handsets that don't work. This Uniden is heading toward the trash. My big question now is do I give any more of my $$ to Uniden. The reception on the unit was great. Very clear, but considering the cost of the phone, then adding [the money] for the replacement handset, I spent [a lot of money] to use a phone for 15 months !!
Not happy with this product.......2001-11-20
I purchased this phone/answering machine about 18 months ago. The sound quality is poor on the answering machine. I frequently have to replay messages to understand what the caller is saying. The number keys on the handset are placed in such a way that I often inadvertently hit them with my chin or mouth when talking on the phone. This produces that annoying beep in the ear of the person on the other end of the call. I'm also not impressed by the clarity of the sound on the phone. Recently, the number 7 button is sticking. Our area code begins with a 7, so it's been quite annoying. I called the repair area and it will cost me (dollar amount)to have it repaired. No thanks, I'll take my $(...)and buy a Sony. No more Unidens for me. To get one final complaint in on this product, the customer service reps were not very knowledgeable and not very friendly.

This product is actually pretty good. It is a great alternative to the more expensive adaptors. Great for older cars with cassette decks and its easy to store. I would recommend it.
Great sound quality, if yuo can get over the problems.......2007-09-20
It's a tape adapter with a removable plug which is a nice touch, the only problem is that it suffers the same problems all other tape adapters do, mainly, that in automatically rewinding tape decks, under the right conditions(I've noticed this most in very cold weather), the cassette deck in the car will play no audio, rewind, and then spit it back out. It takes a few minutes of reinserting and playing with it until it finally works some days.
When it does work, it works finely and sound quality far surpasses FM transmitter quality, though its not quite CD quality as expected.

This little thing is such a good price and delivers a constant, reliable and high quality sound-IF you still have a cassette player in your car! My hubby only has a cd player which meant a broadcaster in his car and it works fine, very little interruption but mine is perfect! The only thing it doesn't do is charge your ipod, which isn't a problem for me at all. A have a friend that works for Apple and this is his preferred way to get good music into his (also a few years old) car and now that I've tried it I get why!

The Coby adaptor did a good job of transporting music through my car's FM radio. However, there is some sort of mechanical problem with it that caused it to click every second or two. It wasn't worth having.

Sound quality is as good as any cassette adapter and the coiled cord is flexible enough to offer enough length and not get tangled.
