The AudioSource AST-SUB10 is the perfect anchor for a multichannel speaker system built around the AudioSource AST-series speakers. The size is bigger than I thought. It appears beautiful and match color to my plasma tv bezel, which is piano black. I wish it came with digital audio input though.
In general, sound is pretty good at this price and it offers us many options to connect to. On and off is automatic and it has built in crossover to cut frequency at different level if you have full signal output.

I was very unsure at first about buying this sub but i needed something in my bedroom i could hide easily under a dresser...so i took a chance.
I have fairly high end equipment in my other room and i was unsure about the quality of this sub.To my suprise the sub came in a day later after ordering and the build quality was excellent. The finish on the sub is a dark grey metallic which is really nice, and as far as sound quality,it does its job well. Iam using the sub with 3 monitor audio satellite speakers and people cant believe the sound in the room. Get yourself a sub cable and within 5-10 min you will have this hooked up and ready to go...all you need to do is adjust the volume to you liking..all in all excellent product for the money..

I had previously purchased a different power subwoofer from Amazon and I was totally disappointed. Okay, it sucked! I returned it. Thanks Amazon! Anyway I had very low expectations for this woofer before I received it. I was hoping to just add a little bass to my music. After I hooked it up I was amazed! It actually hits hard. It has a good range of bass. If you want just a little thump for movies or a wall-shaking boom this is the ticket. I have tried several and I'm very pleased with this one. I have limited space and this fit into it perfectly.

This subwoofer is a great buy, reasonably priced and excellent quality. It sounds very good, it's easy to hook up to any system, the low profile allows it to fit in most places a subwoofer would not fit, and the exterior looks nice. I've had it for a month now and it works perfectly with my 5.1 dolby digital system. All in all I give this speaker an 8 out of 10.

Great Camera/Camcorder combiation !!.......2006-01-15
Perhaps not as good as a dedicated Camera or a dedicated Camcorder, but as a combo device that adds very little weight to the AV300 series, it is an must-have option. Pictures are bright and clear. Video is clear sharp and very good frame rates (25 to 30 fps). Don't be misled by the negative reviews here. This is a great optional accessory for AV300 users. Not too mention that it comes with a vey nice travel case that fits the AV300 AND the AVCAM together. Nowadays it is kinda hard to find, but if you get a chance to get one, grab it. Alot of these were sold when they first came out and now very few are put up for sale, which should tell you alot about the quality of this unit.
Poor Image Quality.......2005-04-13
This is like the vanilla webcam on your PC. Not dignified to be called a camcorder. The colour quality is terrible. Doesnt quickly adjust to changes in lighting, very poor image quality and the final file on the Archos is huge. As for the zoom its movements and sound (the microphone captures the loud noise) is so 1920's that people around us were wondering if the camera had broken. Since everything is software driven the limitations are very high. All in all leave camcorder technology to the pros the likes of Sony, Canon, etc.,who know their business.
Not what I expected..........2004-01-13
I have an AV340 and this add-on product was one of the main reasons I purchased the Archos over the RCA Lyra A/V jukebox. Sure it takes ok pictures and videos in good light but...
- It is very slow to start up to take any type of picture. You need to boot the Archos, select camera or camcorder and wait for that function to boot - by then the moment may be gone...
- In the camera mode the annoying digital camera delay from when you press the shutter to when the picture is take is longer than on my 3.5 year old Canon Powershot S20. Shot to shot time is slow as it needs to write data to the drive, not to a solid state memory card like on a regular digital camera.
- In the camcorder mode, there doesn't appear to be a pause so each segment take is a separate file name. Again, if you stop and then want to start recording again right away, there is a major lag as the existing video file is closed before you can start recoring again.
- There is no tripod mount or shoe for a light
- There is no super low light mode
- The lens is directly exposed with no way to attach a filter or lens cap to protect it
- 3X optical zoom is adequate for a digital camera but pretty low compared to most camcorders
- The zoom is amazingly loud and will be recorded on your soundtrack unless you use the supplied external mic
- The combination is very large and cumbersome to hold
I thought this combined with the AV340 would be a great all-in-one device... I ended up buying a Kyocera SL300R Camera which boots in less than 1 second and can shoot 2.5 frames per second to the limits of the SD card (get 256MB) and does video to the limits of the card. Better, smaller, faster and not much more expensive.
All in all the Archos AV340 is a very cool device but the AVCam 300 attachment, while a great concept, leaves much to be desired.
Nice Cam, but does lack in areas.......2003-12-25
The ARCHOS AVCam was a main factor in my purchasing of the base unit the AV340. I just recieved my Cam and I was impressed in some areas and not so impressed in others. First, it is a bit steep in price at around $200.00, but it is a camera and camcorder. I've taken probably 100 pictures already today, and when you hold it steady, and have the right lighting the pictures come out amazingly well. However, you shake the camera little bit or the lighting in the room isn't the greatest the pictures can turn out a little on the mediocre side. I was impressed with the camcorder part of the package though which you can switch to in seconds from the camera. It takes good videos unless it's really dark. You can make it lighter, but for the most part the videos turned out pretty good. A few of the downers besides price are it eats the batteries like crazy. I was actually kinda shocked at how fast the batteries drained. It's not instantaneous but be prepared to recharge the ARCHOS often if your taking alot of pictures or videos. Also, it does make the AV340 heavier, and the whole thing isn't that light anyways. Overall I would reccomend getting this if you have the ARCHOS AV300 series and the money to spend on it. Hopefully with future firmware updates and maybe a battery with a longer life this will become an even better camera than it already is.

I know it's tempting and to be honest it hasn't broken or anything but . . .
Power output is so poor, I can crank to full volume and it really isn't overly loud = no headroom = overburdening the amp = sucky sound quality overall.
Controlls are not well laid out. Adjustments for balance of rears to main for dolby is weird. I always have to get my manual out to figure out how to get to it. Some changes must be made with the remote you can't use the front panel controlls.
Remote is a piece of junk.
All in all, save another $100 bucks and get something else

The power supply died after less than two years of mild use. Now I have to trash it? The sound was so-so, with a high pitch all the time. Good for begginers.

I bought this receiver mainly because of the Super T-Bass System because I didn't have the money for a Subwoofer at the time. Boy was I impressed!!! Not only is the T-Bass awsome but the Dolby Digital, DTS, and DSP surround sound sounds really awsome. The only complaints I have is the unit is supposed to have 5.1 analog inputs like others wrote about but it doesn't. The other complaint is if you turn the volume up past 39 it cuts the bass half way off, since I don't own a sub this is a nusance. But most the time 80watts x5 is enough power for me. I have now had this Receiver for 2 years and have not had any problems with it. For [the money] the Aiwa AV-D58 is a great buy!!!
It's hard for me to let go of money, but.......2003-01-10
I had a couple of '80s model Pioneer components that needed to retire and all I wanted to do was listen to my movies in stereo. I only have 2 Pioneer speakers right now and a pre-digital stereo TV. I also have a DVD, VCR, satellite and Playstation.
I research anything that I have to shell out over 50 bucks for, so this was no different. For the money, this one seems to create some extra salivation that I wasn't used in my non-digital world!
So many settings and jacks for components (even for turntables). The buttons are sooo fun to play with. It can make any stereo TV sound like a theater!! (I do seem to have to crank the volume when running from only the TV, but not from the other components). There are several audio settings for different (and really cool) effects, and a built-in digital EQ for those of us who need to "tweek" our sound. There are RCA jacks in the front so you can plug in that extra toy you only get out every once in a while like the camcorder, or if you want to dub from another component. The radio tunes perfectly, the digital readout is wonderful, and it all runs on a remote (it's good to pamper yourself once in a while).
It takes the "stripped wire" speaker wires and it clips them in place instead of that spring-loaded thing. It looks really bulky, but it's actually real lightweight and easy to move around. I didn't have to buy anything extra to get it to sound good.
If you're still running on that old system, you won't be disappointed! I haven't found anything this doesn't do, it even says "Hello" and "Goodbye". I've had this for at least a year now with no problems (except the sound still gives me goosebumps). And, it's way ahead of me if I ever decide to upgrade my other components.
5.1 Audio Inputs?.......2002-02-05
I actually called the AIWA company asking about this and they told me that it does have the 5.1 audio inputs. It does not have the actual 5 inputs, you have to use the optical input on the receiver to use it. It is the one located at the top left corner on the back of the receiver. I could only give it 4 stars, the remote is extremely pathetic. Other than that, it is a nice inexpensive system that will serve the avg. consumer very well with very good quality for the price.

Let me be clear: I'm giving Videoh!PCI card kit a one star rating because I cannot go below that. Otherwise this product would get a big donut!
I'm trying to replace my 2-year old Nvidia capture card that came with my desktop thinking that there should be superior products in the market today, primarily on the quality of the video. After trying Videoh, I changed my mind. Not only this pruduct is far inferior to my Nvidia producing bad quality highly interlaced MPEG2 video, it is also greatly limited in features. For example, it comes with no universal WDM video capture and A/V crossbar drivers, thus making it impossible to use it with feature rich software such as iuVCR or Windows Media Encoder. It only works with the bundled Sonic MyDVD software it came with which I personally dislike. MyDVD has no scheduler for recording video at predetermined times and even worse you cannot set a time limit once the recording started. Also unlike iuVCR you cannot set video encoding options or even use a software codec like MPEG4 or DivX!
One other annoyance I had with Videoh! was that while capturing with MyDVD there was a one second delay between real time video and captured video. This does not happen with my Nvidia capture card.
After the fiasco of trying Videoh! including some other hardware around the same price range such ConvertXPX-M402U from Plextor®, I thing I will shell some more money and buy a semi-professional video capture card probably by Canopus or Matrox.
Adaptec Video Oh PCI Card Review.......2003-03-06
I have been looking for a consumer grade video capture device with MPEG-II hardware compression for a while. I have tested several and have been disappointed with the results. This case unfortunately has been no different. The VideoOh! product comes primarily in two flavors, the USB 2.0 and the PCI version. Having had bad experiences with other vendors USB products, I decided to give the PCI card a try. I initially tried the card out in a Celeron 500 machine, which does fall under the minimum requirements that Adaptec suggests. I found that the video was blocky and had dropouts when it worked and it was using 100% of the processor. It also had some stability problems in detecting a video signal at times. I then installed the card in an Athlon 2000+ machine with 512M or RAM. On this system the card worked a great deal better, but still not perfectly. I tried it in both the better (5.5Mb/s) and the best (6.5Mb/s) mode and saw in both cases the video was choppy and suffered from a great deal of pixelation that was visible both on a computer or video monitor. The processor utilization in this case was about 40% during best quality capture. The software which is bundled is an older version (3.5.2) of Sonic's MyDVD and ShowBiz. MyDVD seems to have some bugs such as not allowing you to write to another drive once you make a drive change, still reflecting the old location internally. The Showbiz editor actually worked very well and I was able to create video clips very easily. The quality of the video after decode/encode through Showbiz was noticeably worse though. I bought this to convert my Hi-8 and DV tapes to DVD, but see that the consumer products technology for MPEG-II encoding is just not comparable to the software products out there such as tmpgenc. If you want low resolution video for the web etc, this product works very well, but for home video it falls short.

MyDVD seems to have some bugs such as not allowing you to write to another drive once you make a drive change, still reflecting the old location internally. The Showbiz editor actually worked very well and I was able to create video clips very easily. The quality of the video after decode/encode through Showbiz was noticeably worse though. I bought this to convert my Hi-8 and DV tapes to DVD, but see that the consumer products technology for MPEG-II encoding is just not comparable to the software products out there such as tmpgenc. If you want low resolution video for the web etc, this product works very well, but for home video it falls short.
