Within a year, I RMA-ed this monitor twice, having to pay for shipping to get it serviced both times. About two months after the second RMA, the 1-year warranty expired and the monitor died, again. Thanks for nothing, Sceptre. I will never buy from this company again.

I got this monitor for use at work mostly because it was really cheap compared to other 19" LCDs (especially with the rebate) and it seemed to have good specs. To be honest I am really surprised at how good it actually is (again, especially for the price).

I would not get this monitor for my home PC only because it does not have a DVI input, but my work PC does not support DVI anyway so no big deal. Other than that, it is great! No dead pixels and fast delivery through Amazon/Tiger Direct.

Its not hard to find a better bookshelf speaker.......2005-06-23

Summary:

I bought these as a replacement for some Mission bookshelf speakers which I gave to a friend in exchange for a loan he gave me to buy some rare speakers Dick Shahinian designed for Harman Kardon about 35 years ago. I have the ARs hooked up to an old Harman Kardon receiver which I have attached to a computer. In my opinion, they sound awful. They are bright, brittle, have NO bottom end (which is understandable given the size of the drivers) and are not musical in the least. I suspect I'll be happier replacing them with a $79 pair of computer speakers. The only reason I have not is because I don't have any place for the HK receiver and I could not in good conscience give 'em away.

Strengths:
Small size, cheap.

Weaknesses:
Sound awful.

I purchased these after reading about them in Consumer Reports. Sound is very good over the frequency spectrum, with no noticable overenhancement in the spectrum. Bass sound is adequate, not great, although that's expected for a speaker this size.

Don't bother..........2005-12-22

For starters, this thing is a pain to install. I have a Volcano heatsink. After attaching the duct to the heatsink the fan is attached with long screws and tiny nuts. There's litte room to maneuver a tool or even a finger behind the fan on the short side of the duct. Getting a nut threaded onto a screw proved to be a challenge.

They claim this duct reduces noise, I found the opposite to be true. While there may have been less noise caused by turbulence as they claim, the duct seemed to be vibrating, giving a whining sound. After making sure all the mounting screws were tight I tried adjusting the fan's RPM(mine is adjustable) but the vibration never went away. The whining sound was annoying enough that I didn't even take the time to test for any improvement in cooling before I removed it.

Now I'm ergonomically correct.......2007-03-18

I needed a narrower keyboard to bring my mouse back into the correct ergonomic zone. Keyboards with the number pad and arrow keys on the right side would push my mouse too far to the right - causing neck strain. After only 2 days, I can tell a HUGE improvement in my pain, simply because this keyboard allows my mouse to be closer to my body!!!

It does take awhile to get used to the different layout and sizes for some keys. For example, the keys that are larger on a regular keyboard are a little smaller on this one (the Enter key). And the backspace key is in a different location. But these are small prices to pay for being more comfortable with my extended hours at the computer.

I don't use the built-in mouse - so can't rate that aspect.

For the amount of money I paid, I believe the Taiwanese could have supplied a mouse that doesn't constantly get stuck. It's frustrating and annoying to rub the wheel back and forth until I finally manage to fit the cursor into the little square.

Furthermore the receiver doesn't always receive. The range is not what they say, it is much less and it is not reliable, you can be typing away and it all gets lost no matter how precisely you point the lights.

Ok, when I saw this, i was thinking that it would solve my problem with a faulty mouse and a dead keyboard. oh god was i wrong. it uses IR signals, so you cant even type with your knees up! for $75 you would expect at least some RF. go away from this product, leave your money in some other companys claws.
