I purchased this TV 2 weeks ago and the joy hasn't warn off yet. The picture is breathtaking and I think more highly of this TV with every new DVD I watch. The first DVD I watched was the SuperBit version of The Fifth Element. All I can say is that it was money well spent. Truly a videophile's TV. You won't be disappointed.

This was the best bang for my buck value I could find in widescreen HDTVs, without getting the super thin plasma screens. It looks really cool, and the picture is very nice. There's no HDTV in NYC, so I can't attest to how good that looks, but if you're looking for a widescreen TV, you should definitely consider this.
The best tube TV out there!.......2002-03-20
I was going to buy a home theatre, but i didn't have a very big room, so I couldn't fit a projection TV in there without it looking very good since I would be sitting very close to it. I thought my chances of having a home theatre were slim to none, because there arent very many widescreen(16:9) tube TVs out there. So I went into an electronics store that my friend owned, and his brother was the specialist for home theatre-type equipment and installing them. I explained my situation, and he said this is the one of the cheapest widescreen tubes out there, and in his and most everyone's opinion the best picture quality out of all of them(without going into the plasma catagory). And he was right. I was amazed by the picture quality, and it was beyond anything I have ever seen before. And I got a home theatre package from sony which was a progressive scan DVD player and had Dolby Digital/DTS decoders on it, and has 1 optical and digital coaxial inputs on it, which is great for digital cable(for coaxial) and HDTV(for optical). And it has great sound coming out of all 5 speakers and it is amazing when combined with this TV. I have to say this is the best.

I bought the Panasonic CT34WX50. I love it. The wife thinks its a phenominal picture, but that we should have bought a bigger set.
This set makes cable television images look smooth - no lines, DVDs are breathtaking, and Over The Air true HighDef sources are absolutely awesome (with SIR-T150 Digital TV receiver). Wife and I just keep saying "wow...wow...wow" with every scene change.

I was in the store, looking for TVs, and stumbled upon this one. The picture quality was one of the best I've seen--including the Sony's that were on display also. I am going to pick it up this week, I talked to other people about it, and they also loved this television. Basically, for me, the deciding factor was picture quality, and price. This was by far the cheapest (...), and the picture quality was on par with a Sony (...). If you MUST have the widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio), in a non-rear projection package--as I do,--you should check this TV out at a local store... you won't be dissapointed!

Buy Canon Photo Pro Paper Instead.......2007-03-18
I ran out of Canon Photo Pro Paper while printing my vacation pics, and had a 20 piece trial pack of the Kodak Ultima Picture Paper that I broke out to try. I printed the same picture on both papers and the Kodak doesn't even come close to the quality of the Canon! Both papers were supposed to be glossy, but the Kodak is almost matte. The Kodak paper also seemed to be more pixellated looking, while the Canon paper is photo lab quality. I do not recommend Kodak Ultima Picture Paper (unless you are getting it near free, and giving the pictures to someone you don't really like that much).

Ditto the size problem........2005-09-22
I must say, I'm very frustrated with this item, to the point that I, too, am writing this review when I'm not accustomed to doing so on Amazon.com. I bought this to use with my newly purchased EPSON Stylus Photo R300 printer. This is the first printer that I bought that supports borderless printing. Excitedly, I printed out a greeting card that I had prepared yesterday to sends off to friends and relatives; much to my dismay, there was a white strip on one edge of the printout.
Determined that there was something wrong with the printer driver and/or my system (MacOSX 10.4.2 Tiger), I went on a rampant search for a fix. I tried unistalling and reinstalling the driver; tried different versions of the driver (one that came with Tiger, one that I downloaded from the Epson website, one that came with the printer); tried repairing permissions; I was this close to doing a fresh reinstall of the OS . . . at which point I had the sense to measure the paper. Lo-and-behold, the paper is NOT 4"x6" but 4"x6.5". Which explains the 0.5" white band on one edge of the printout.
Unfortunately, my printer doesn't support this paper size, which means in order to get a true borderless printout, I need to manually trim off the 0.5in with an exacto knife -- which is exactly what I could have done without buying new printer.
Kodak, listen to your customers; labeling this as a 4"x6" photo paper is deceiving. Making a 4*6.5 paper when many printers don't support that size is just senseless.
Potential customer: do not buy this if borderless photo printing is what you want to do.
Bizarre.......2005-08-28
I've been involved in photography a long time and even used to have my own darkroom. I have used a lot of paper.
I am moving over to digital, and wanted to give this a try since it is Big Yellow Box and all. On their site they rave about their superior coating technology etc. 9 layers of magic, and so on.
I agree with other comments that on Canons (dye inks) this is not superior to Canon Pro Plus, but I would not say it was awful either. It IS different: dries relatively slowly, image is visible on the surface in a raking light, and so on.
For me, the real frustration is that it says 4 x 6 on the front and it isn't. And so I thought I was buying 4 x 6 paper. The fact that it is NOT 4 x 6 paper is on the package in the finest print on the back at the bottom. Thanks Kodak. And so why the extra half inch?
Their web site FAQ explains that the extra half inch is because "some" printers can't print borderless at 4 x 6. Well, all mine can. Do Kodaks not?
They also spin the issue of bordered prints because here's the real issue: if your printer driver doesn't support 4 x 6 1/2, then you can't get an even border much less a border less print.
But wait! Kodak will provide you with their OWN software for printing which I bet does support 4 x 6 1/2 - But I'm not going to waste the time downloading it and giving them my email address. Rather, I choose to spend that time here warning others off.
And where can I find any boxes or slip covers that support this incredible new form factor? Beats me.
Forget it. Seemingly Kodak has lost what little mind it had left. These goods are misleadingly packaged and of little value as 4 x 6 paper.
Kodak Ultima A4 paper.......2004-02-10
This is excellent paper for colour and b/w photographs on a Canon i560. It is far superior, especially with dark colours, to the equivalent Fuji 270g paper.

This is advertised as a (small) bonus for buying any photo editing software. Expiration of the offer is Jan 31, 2003. System will not honor the promo code because the item is discontinued. What a waste of time.

Ipod breakdown.......2007-05-17
got this ipod and the same day the sad face came up and it stopped working. Maybe its just the fact that im not too familiar with ipod software, or that it was an older generation, either way within two weeks i was sending it away to get repaired. I reccommend getting a newer generation, its worth the money and you'll most likely have less problems.

Even though this guy has been with me for about two years now and have received a lot of use and abuse (several hits included) it is working just fine and has become the partner that put a soundtrack to my cubicle, my car, my commute and my just_before_sleep_time.
The interface is just great, the sound quality is excellent (I use my Sennheiser PX100 headphones most of the time) and the ability to store my photos and show them to the family and friends right on the screen or connected to a TV deserves a big "WOW", not to mention the "Contacts" and "Notes" utilities.
At this moment it's almost full (3.2 Gb free) with:
- 3998 songs, most of them MP3 or AAC at 320Kbps (I prefer to have them a this high quality)
- 5461 5Mp photos
- All of my contacts
- Notes with some "The Art of War" and some Japanese fayry tales.
- Some data files because i use it also as an external drive for copy and back up of files.
What else can be said? I would definately buy it again.
A fine device for its time, and still going strong..........2006-12-01
I got my 40Gb iPod Photo a couple of Christmases ago ... I know its a long time past and this review is very late in coming, but I thought, people can still buy this product on the "used" Ipod market, and I thought that here was a good place to give it its due...
I use iTunes 6.X with it now, and it is still going strong on its original battery! I'm not at "hard music user", so I didn't run it through its courses as much as a "power" user may.
I used it more as a PDA -- loving its calendar, using it as a hard drive -- and with only buying two other items for it (the Contour Design "Showcase 4G" case and the perpetually top-mounted Griffin iTalk) I was as happy as a clam.
I enjoyed being able to view images on its 2-inch screen, but I loved being able to show my friends and family how a simple miniplug-to-RCA cable lets you scroll through your photos on your TV screen. If your creative, you can put visible maps on this thing... truly sweet!
As I owned it for a while, its weight wore on me a bit, and I would have preferred something a little smaller and with a removable battery. The hard drive thing is a bit much, but that's a long time past. If I have now gone with a flash-based MP3 player with capabilities [FM Radio, built in USB-host capabilities, Line in jack]. If I didn't need these functions, I may have gone with the newer Nano line, but that's a different story...
No regrets, it has (and in some cases, still does have) its place in my tech life. I'd still recommend it to anyone.
iPod 40 GIG Photo.......2006-08-26
I just bought a refurb iPod 40 gig photo with firewire from the Apple Store online. It was the best priced model that still works with Firewire. Since I do not own a computer with USB 2, I wanted to stay with Firewire. Regarding malfunctioning iPods, you have a one year hardware warranty. If you choose not to buy AppleCare for the extra year, that is unfortunate, and not Apple's problem, but the users. Guess what? Sony's MP3 players come with a 90 day warranty, and Sony has a reputation for good quality. Point being: not Apple's fault if unit breaks down after one year if you don't purchase extended warranty. All electronics are made in China anyway, so buy the extended warranty. More later after using the iPod for a while.
Beware Apple Quality.......2006-07-26
Apple quality is terrible, and they don't stand behind their products. My iPod Photo started malfunctioning almost immediately after the warranty expired. I have spent more time resetting it and reloading it than listening to it. The battery gives no where near the advertised power. If you don't pay for an Apple Care policy for an extra year, Apple will not provide any service or refer to third party service for an iPod, even if you wish to pay for it.
According to the Apple Store technician, the iPod's hard drive is defective, probably was from the staryt, resulting in intermittent crashes (sad iPod face in display), inability to power on or freezing of device. Another Apple technician told me he believed the logic board is bad. They suggested replacement of the device, which cost $499, at my cost as the one-year manufacturer's warranty expired nine months ago.
