Audio Features

You can use the onscreen controls to adjust the volume of both the set's speakers and external speakers connected for a home theater setup. Other Features
This unit features a two-tuner picture-in-picture with split-screen display, which lets you watch two TV programs simultaneously by dividing the screen in half, down the middle. Audio defaults to the program on the left; to listen to the program on the right, you simply switch the pictures with the SWAP button. Panasonic's Director lighted disc remote, recently redesigned to provide even easier and more accurate control, can control most current audio and video devices, including DVD players, VCRs, cable TV boxes, laser disc players, DBS receivers, stereo receivers, CD players, and cassette tape decks. Excellent Picture, BUT Watch Your Back!.......2007-01-11
I've had this TV for about eight months now and have had no problems with it. The picture is exceptionally crisp and the unit itself is very stylish.
I have the audio ported out to a small stereo so can't comment on the quality of the speakers.
One word of caution though: This sucker is HEAVY! At 165lbs, out of the box, it's out of most people's "I'll move it by myself" range. I moved this up the stairs in the box and it nearly killed me. I didn't know it weighed this much. It's also a bit of a strain on the solid oak shelf it's sitting on in my armoire too, but it seems to be holding.
Overall, it's a nice unit.
Buy something else!!.......2003-07-27
We were happy with this TV at the start. After our warranty ran out--so did the TV. One day the TV just would not turn on even after several attempts to unplug and plug it back in which only resulted in pop, snap. die! We have been waiting almost four weeks for parts to repair it. Panasonic has not sent the parts needed as requested by our repair shop. We have been given several excuses about what had caused the problem and why it hasn't been fixed. From "the power supply" to "acid leaking on the board" to "waiting for parts from Panasonic". From day one this TV had an arch across the bottom of the picture when viewing widescreen. We were willing to put up with this first problem. But after waiting over a month for this major repair we are in the process of now purchasing a different brand of TV. We would highly recommend that you think twice about purchasing this Panasonic lemon.
Service problem.......2003-02-20
The set developed serious color quality problems within the first year. The nearest authorized service is a two hour drive away from my hometown of Sedona, Arizona. That service company declined to drive to Sedona on a service call because of the four-hour round trip. Panasonic has not responded to my e-mail after two weeks, and my attempts to reach the Panasonic service area by phone simply lead to a phone maze without a real person to which I can complain. If you do not live in a city the size of Phoenix, I strongly recommend that you look at another product.
Well worth it in good condition.......2002-04-21
My previous review titled "well worth it" should be updated but my E-mail has changed. This is in fact a great television. When I noticed a slight curve when viewing widescreen movies and I asked a service technition to take a look he noticed the problem after testing it with his equipment. He corrected a slight convergance problem with red that made the picture REALLY SHARP but said that the shadow mask had been damaged during shipping probobly because of bouncing, and that it would not be economic to fix it.The problem was very small but I am very serious when it comes to quality. Now I am trading it back in and upgrading to the 47 inch Panasonic high definition projector tv because it is easier to take care of. When I got this television it had a corner sticking out the hole in the box. My advice is that if you can get one in good condition than by all means do so but be carefull where you buy it because its very sensitive equipment.
Was good while it lasted.......2002-04-04
I am now 5 weeks without my HDTV. Had a few minor glitches early on but they never amounted to much, then about 4 months after purchase the screen began to pop from its normal square display to an oval shape then pop back out. Also had issues of display being almost all red, blue or green. PS2 hooked up with component was great, except that the screen went a bright neon green square a few times to days before it died. The final night it displayed all the above and when it was powered off then back on it went click, click, pop. I have spent the last 5 weeks with we'll need to pick it up and bring it to the shop, parts on order, well that part came in but now we need this part, we needed to get approval from Panasonic to order this part, still waiting. Called Panasonic wondering if they could help they were helpful, said they would call repair shop to see what the holdup was would call me back Monday, on Wednesday still no call, I call back, they NEVER called repair shop. Overall
TV 4 stars, PS2 on TV 5 stars, panasonic service 0 stars, getting this unit repaired 0 stars. My last Panasonic purchase!

Studio Recorded Sound On a Home Recorder Budget.......2007-04-30
This could be one of the most versatile, and under appreciated, microphones in AKG's lineup. This mic was purchased to complement a portable digital audio recorder with the idea of using one setup for both audio interviews and recording spoken word narrations as well as producing on-location recordings of various types. While AKG does not list this particular microphone for use with this type of application, we are finding this an excellent mic for these purposes.
The mic has a solid feel in the hand and very good balance. The last is important if the mic is being used hand held, like a reporter's microphone, for conducting an interview. While lacking the traditional ball head of the reporter's microphone, the C1000's shape lends itself to one-on-one interviews very easily. The sound quality was superior to other hand held microphones we tried.
Being a condenser microphone, some type of phantom power is required. The mic is designed to accept a standard 9V battery when used without another power source available. The mic does feature an LED to let you know if the battery is functioning. The field recorders we are using have phantom power capability, so I can't comment on the battery operation of this mic. With the usual precautions concerning wind, the microphone performs well when outdoors.
In a studio situation, the mic performs excellently. Being a small diameter mic, the sound is crisper than what most studio mics deliver. Listeners to recorded narrations produced with this mic did not find this objectionable. In some cases, the C1000 will make a good alternate studio mic for a speaker with a slightly flat voice. To help with voice characteristics, AKG supplies an accessory, the PB 1000, which boosts the "presence" of the voice. This is a small plastic filter that the user installs by unscrewing the microphone body and snapping the Presence Booster over the capsule. Unscrewing the body also reveals an internal pop filter that is surprisingly effective.
A second snap-on accessory, the PPC 1000 Polar Pattern Converter, converts the pickup pattern from cardiod to hypercardioid. This makes the mic more directional for use in onstage situations or where noise from the peripheral areas may be a problem. This too is an effective accessory.
Properly placed, this microphone is capable of doing a lot. While it may not be suitable as a hand held mic for singing vocals, it would do very well placed off stage for recording a group singing onstage. The response graphs also suggests this mic will do very well for recording acoustic string instruments, cymbal or even higher range brass instruments. As previously mentioned, it also does a very good job for recording voice over type spoken word recordings.
This mic is priced within the range of the home recorder's budget yet it will deliver studio quality recordings in a variety of situations. The AKG C1000 would certainly be a contender if I had to have only one microphone and wanted to be as versatile as possible.

I had this TV for 2 and a half years, and suddenly it turned off, and from then, everytime I turn it on, its green light will come on and then off constantly. The fuse is not damaged, though, rather an internal board part. It has a very low life time for a TV. Also, when it was working it had a long delay for the picture to come, as well as when switching channels. The quality of picture was good though.

Just after one year of buying this piece of PHILIPS junk the sound completely died! The labor costs alone exceed the TV cost. I am throwing it in the dumpster tonight!

I also had the "won't turn on problem". I actually feel a little lucky, considering mine broke after a year and a half. I called phillips and tried to have them cover the labor costs even though the warranty had expired, but they refused. The funny thing is that I thought it was the picture tube, which is covered for 2 years. Phillips never let on that it is actually a fuse that blows in this Tv. When I requested the number for the nearest phillips repair center, I got a business that doesn't even repair tv's. Talk about great customer service. After doing some research online, I found out about the all too common fuse problem. I called phillips and told them I would NEVER buy one of their products again. I also had a phillips dvd player that wouldn't play any dvd's whatsoever. Costumer service told me it was my dvd's and that I should buy a disc cleaner. Needless to say, I returned that and bought a different brand.
Phillips SUCKS!!!!!!
I will never buy or recommend their products ever again.

This TV should not even get 1 star. I bought this TV in September 2005 and it is now May 2006 and the TV will not turn on.
After this happened, I did some research on the internet and have found that this problem has happened to thousands of people. This TV is defective.
Philips will not take responsibility for this problem.

Around 14 months after I purchased this TV the power went off.
When I was buying it I did not do any research, just went to Circuit City and bought it. After it went out I was reading reviews online and found the cause. Blown fuse. DO NOT TAKE IT TO A TV REPAIR PLACE. DO IT YOURSELF. The whole repair takes 5 minutes, excluding a trip to Radioshack, if you have just basic $10 tool set. Remove the rear cover, locate the fuse by the power cord, replace it with the good fuse and put the rear cover back.
If you can lift this TV - you can fix it.
