I've read a lot of the complains on this dvd player but mine works just fine going on two years now. it plays like a dream but because of the dual combo it's very bulky but it fits fine on top of the tv. never had a problem with it not playing store bought dvds or cds however when i try to play dvd-r it might take a minute to load. but when i burned a movie off my computer on a regular blank cd it played like it was store bought quality and much cheaper than purchasing dvd-r

The 1st unit we received was broken on the DVD side. After exchanging hassle and shipping back. The new unit starts breaking after 6 months. The DVD quality sucks, VCR has never worked right....

I got this for my birthday since I wanted a DVD player, but also wanted a VCR for all the VHS tapes I still have. This seemed like it was perfect, but I was proven wrong eventually.
The DVD player: When I first started using this player, I used this and it was fine. I noticed every few minutes, there would be a weird noise on the TV, but after awhile I was able to ignore it. The picture was nice, and it also played VCD's, so I thought everything was set for me. I was wrong...
The VCR: This is the problem here. I never thought to test this out right away, because in this day and age, people should know how to make a VCR. Apex fails at doing this though... I went to watch a tape a few months after I began using the DVD player. The result was in every single tape I played having horrible sound, and the picture bouncing. Because of this, the whole point of owning this player is gone.
I was lucky enough to return it and get a gift card back at the store it came from. I would do yourself a favor and just stay away from Apex products. Sure, some people say good things about them.. however the majority say they make crap products, and they do, I won't bother buying anything else from them again. You can get a DVD/VCR combo player from a better company for about the same price as this, so just get something else instead. It just isn't worth saving 10-20 dollars.

All I Need.......2007-09-15
The tools look alot larger in the picture than they really are. The vinyl case the encompasses them is about the same size as one of my hand spreaded open; it's about the same size as a small chapter book. I use the Belkin 10-piece computer tool kit to build computers out of composite parts available for purchase. The only tool I have actually used (and need) is the #1 Phillips-Head Screwdriver. It's the only tool I've needed so far for working with my chassis.
Pros: Has everything I need to open/insert computer components, cheap price, and they are easy to use due to the handles.
Cons: Could have included the Belkin Anti-Static Wrist Band with Adjustable Grounding, or at least have a proper storage space for one, which I also bought along with this. There's enough space to store my Belkin anti-static wrist band inside the storage case, but there just isn't a proper space for it to be stored neatly.
No need to buy those expensive professional computer tool kits because this is all you will ever need for exchanging parts for your computer unless you decide to tweak your computer components into different shapes for whatever purposes.
*Note: I ordered this Belkin 11-piece computer tool kit, but received the 10 piece Tool Kit instead from [...]. Both tool kits are Mfr. Part #: F8E060, and I believe the 10 piece tool kit is the updated version of the 11-piece tool kit. They both practically have the same tools (other than the demagnetization labeled for the 11-piece tool kit). The 10 piece tool kit is actually also an 11-piece tool kit because it just decided to omit counting the vinyl case, which it also comes with. I prefer the black handles of the 10-piece tool kit over the orange handles of the 11-piece tool kit, so I am not complaining about the 10-piece tool kit I received instead.

Just what I needed. A small screwdriver set to keep handy. This is a great kit for what it's for. This is a 10 piece tool kit, NOT a 11 piece. I had and lost my 11 piece. The only thing missing here is the parts tube to store screws and other things as such. This tool kit has a lifetime warranty. I am very pleased with this kit and the price. You will also need a anti-static wristband belkin and amazon has you covered it's only $5.99

Perfectly good basic computer tool kit. I've been using a Belkin tool kit just like this one for years, then bought a no-name brand one for my girlfriend, only to have one of the screwdrivers break from normal use after like a week of owning it. Then I bought her one of these, and it's worked very well.
Highly recommended. If you're thinking of saving money on a kit that's just a few dollars cheaper, you're much better off paying for the higher quality you'll find in this kit.

The quality of some the tools is poor, in particular the electronics vacuum and the soldering iron. The vacuum is completely ineffective, and the soldering iron does not get hot enough to wick solder. The flash-light is shoddy.
The rest of the stuff is of acceptable quality, although I have seen the rachet on the screw-driver break under heavy usage (a number of people at work own these kits).
You're probably better off just buying pliers, a good screw-driver kit, tweezers, and a flashlight. A lot of the items (the soldering iron, the allen wrenches, the IC extractor) probably won't see much use in general PC repair anyway.

These headphones are amazing, the sound feels like it's being played around you, I can hear everything. When I first saw these headphones, I just wanted to buy them for their looks, they're vary retro. The quality is good as well, the bands around the phones are plastic covered metal, made in Austria, they also are very very comfortable, can wear them for hours, they adjust to any sized head too, have attachable cord, but don't worry, the cord clips and stays on tight, comes with adapter.

High efficiency and wide dynamic range, a good choice for portable use, higher sound pressure levels.

As a transcriber, these were recommended to me to get crisp, clear sound quality. I am disappointed that the quality is no better than the earphones I currently use for transcription.

I have tried many headphones & returned them all . they all lacked one thing "comfort" .Some headphones were just too heavy , you would have to remove them off your head every 5 minutes just to relief the weight on your head . I have tried Ultrasone proline 550 , 650 , Sennheiser hd595 , hd555 .any many more . They don't come close to the AKG K240 . First is "comfort" they are very light in weight , the sound is awesome . I am using creative sound card on my pc , nothing high end . they sound great . By the way the plug in wire on the side is very rugged no worries if you are concerned about that , i think it's better than the screw in type where i have seen people screw them in the wrong way damaging the thread. I recommend 4 hrs of breaking in time just to experience the full spectrum of these headphones .Enjoy

I've had a pair of 240's for the last 8 years. About 2 years ago, I ran over the cable with my office chair, and basically ruined the headphones. I mended the cable, but they never really sounded right again.
So, I got a pair of Shure E40's, and they've been quite good. Yesterday, I finally realized that the jack on the AKG's was broken, not the wire. So, I replaced the jack, and for the first time in about two years, am using the headphones again.
The sound quality is leagues better than anything else I've used in the last two years. Better than the Shures, better than the Sennheisers I got through work. There's a huge amount of detail that I'd been missing with the other headphones. I'm not an audio professional, or even a hardcore audiophile, but I've been a musician since I was young, and have a good ear.
For the price, I haven't heard anything that even comes close to these headphones. Just watch the cord.

I have been using AKG headphones since the mid 70's when I started seeing them on the heads of every entertainer in the recording studio environment in film and television. This said volumes to me about the acceptance by the real professionals. Bought my first pair back then and have had them over the years, occassionally upgrading to newest technology model. I happened to be in the discotheque business back then and I bought AKG's for DJ use in all six of our clubs throughout the country. These are fantastic with full range of natural sound from lows to highs. Does not color the sound and they really kick if you loop them through EQ. Ain't nothin' better. I am so spoiled that sometimes I prefer listening to concert DVD's with these on rather than listening "full room" with my very expensive and well appointed home component audio system. And I occassionally go back to my original set of AKG's purchased in 1976 and they still sound awesome, although the rubber ear pads have become rather hardened and I cant wear them for long. My only complaint about this new pair of "around the ear" phones is that you tend to sweat a bit after wearing them through a movie. I also have a set of fairly recent model 141's that are the "on the ear" smaller pad model with very soft foam pads and I must say that I probably prefer them to the full ear enclosure, for that reason. Other than that, you can't beat the undisputed champ in headphone sound, and at an amazing price point for the quality of the sound.
