Ultraviolet light is invisible to the eye and is strong in mountainous and coastal areas with very clear air. This UV Filter blocks the invisible UV component of light from the sky, which can cause blur and to which many color films react with a blue cast. UV Filters are ideal for photography in high altitudes (in the mountains), by the sea and in regions with very clean air. The pictures gain brilliance and disturbing blue casts are avoided. Because the glass is colorless, color rendition is not altered, aside from the elimination of the unwanted blue cast, and no increase in exposure is required. That makes a UV Filter very suitable as protection of the front element of the taking lens against dust, flying sand, sea water spray and the like, and it can be kept on the lens at all times. It is recommended for analog color and black-and-white as well as digital photography.

Nice but the mount could be more stable.......2006-12-09
I have been trying to use this telescope for shooting photos. The mount is not very stable and it's very difficult to get accurate polar alignment. Tightening the azimuth causes the whole assembly to shift by several degrees. It seems like a nice starter scope though. The moon is very crisp with lots of detail and no color distortions.

This scope gives incredible views. I haven't noticed any extra color, even on bright objects. I have viewed inside and outside the solar system and have been amazed at all the views. This is now my favorite scope that I own. It's ready to go at a moments notice, no collimation, minor setup and you are viewing. Saturn's rings are no problem, Jupiter's moons, easy. The mount is extremely stable. I can't say enough about this scope. At any price, this scope is well worth it, for it to be less than $300 makes it the best bargain out there.

Video Technology
With Digital Velocity Modulated Scan, circuitry along the neck of the CRT senses transitions from black to white in the video signal. The black and white portions of the signal are sped up and slowed down, respectively, resulting in sharp black-to-white transitions. The set's wideband video amplifier expands the video frequency response to more than 10 MHz, allowing for a horizontal resolution capability of more than 800 lines. Also, a three-line digital comb filter prevents any two lines with different colors from being processed simultaneously, minimizing any "hanging dots" in the image, while vertical edge correction works in conjunction with the digital comb filter to sharpen horizontal image edges.
Audio Technology
BBE High-Definition Sound improves speech intelligibility, and restores the dynamic range of musical passages to help provide a more natural sound. Surround Sound simulates stereo sound--even from a monaural source--by delaying the original, two-channel sound to create a "surround" effect. Artificial Intelligence Sound Control (AISC) maintains an even sound level to prevent wide variations in volume among different TV channels and types of programming.
Connections
A suite of inputs accommodates most video sources (from standard composite-video to high-resolution component-video), and front-panel connectors foster easy hookups with camcorders, digital cameras, VCRs, or gaming consoles. You can also label the various inputs for easy selection.
Other Features
A feature called Channel Banner captures information transmitted with each TV program and places it onscreen in a semi-transparent banner. Awesome tv for a budget.......2007-03-09
I bought this tv while serving an overseas tour in Okinawa, Japan. Let me tell you....if you didn't pay attention, you would think that this was an actual HDTV. The picture quality, contrast, vibrance, etc. is by far, the best I have ever seen in a tube tv. You want a great tv for the house? This should be the one you buy. The only problem is that it weighs a good 100lbs but it's still a 5 star item in my book.

I fell in love with this TV from the start. It was between this and the Sony Wega, but the reviews seemed to good to be true for the Panasonic, and oh yes, they are too good to be true. Getting it home and unpacked was a Herculean task. Setting up the colors so that the red didn't fry your eyes was the next obstacle. Finally, I relaxed and enjoyed this TV for the past 14 months. Tonight when I turned it on....poof! The screen painted bands of colors around the outside and the picture's center was black and white. I am disappointed to learn that this thing is made in Mexico, plus the fact that for over $400 you'd expect a TV to last for more than 14 months. That's pathetic. I had an old Signature 2000 Mongomery Ward RCA 27" TV that lasted 7 years even with the cold solder joint problems. Shame on you Panasonic.

Great picture, for a boat anchor.......2003-09-24
I deeply regret buying this cheaply-built excuse for high-end video equipment. I'm not at all surprised it's assembled south of the quality-control line, this thing is the K-Car of TV's. Yes, the picture is amazing...when you're not staring at a blank screen because the thing dive-bombed on Day 95 of ownership...and OH, big surprise, the parts-and-labor warranty expires at 90 days!
I'm an electronics technician, and it was actually cheaper for me to void the warranty by fixing it myself, spending a rather large amount of money on parts, rather than paying someone else a larger sum just for labor with free parts. And it is no joke that this thing weighs a ton--it both feels and performs like a pricey anchor for the USS Arizona. If you live on the second floor and have to take it in for repairs, you will curse Panasonic to your last breath.
I had to buy THREE parts: a new powersource card (ouch), a new video interface (the coax cable jack snapped off like the cheap plastic it is), AND a couple of cables that got fried when the powersource blew...and I had it on a surge protector. This is worse than Army equipment, which is lowest-bidder built. If you could see the insides (your local technician WILL see its insides, trust me), you'd see how poorly constructed it is--cheap shortcuts and flimsy plastic everywhere.
Save your money. You'll love this TV for however long it takes for one of its myriad technical issues to surface, and it will likely happen after the warranty expires. You could very easily spend its purchase price on repairs, and Panasonic will straight tell you, "So sorry! Hope you'll continue to buy our products anyway!" (RIGHT.)
Beware this TV is Made In Mexico!.......2003-06-09
I bought this hunk of junk TV five months ago as a Christmas present to my mom. Yesterday it conked out.
Now I have to go thru the hassle of getting it fixed all because Panasonic wants to boost profits by having it's TV's assembled in Mexico. They only have to pay workers 50 cents an hour there....you get what you pay for. I'll never buy anything with Panasonico's name on it again.
