Avoid this keyboard. While it worked perfectly well for the first 30 days after I purchased it, it worked very inconsistently after that (i.e. pressing keys would not send any data to the computer). I verified this by trying the keyboard on other systems. The internal design is very cheap as I opened it up in a worthless attempt to repair it.

Spend more money and purchase a better keyboard. All of my other keyboards I had in the past lasted for years and I only got rid of them when I sold the computer associated with them.

Not bad for the money........2007-02-20

I needed a cheap keyboard that I could use from my couch. This one feels like it was made out of recycled milk jugs, and has distinctly Fisher-Price key action. But it's inexpensive and seems durable (meaning drop-proof, not spill-proof). The USB cable is about five feet long so I needed an extension cable to reach my HTPC. There's also no channel on the underside of the keyboard to route the cable left or right. I've purchased other Belkin products (ethernet card, noise-canceling headphones) and found them to represent good value. Spend more if you want better key action, but this is a perfectly good second or third keyboard, or one you would give a child if there's a good chance it'll get knocked around a bit.

Good USB Keyboard.......2003-01-17

I own this keyboard, and I only have nice things to say about it. The keys have just the right firmness with that click that veteran computer users will appreciate. I really hate the soft feel that some keyboards (Dell, Compaq/HP) provede. This is keyboard feels like a vintage IBM in the best way. Also all the keys are the right size and in the right place, that means full size backspace key and the \ is right where God and IBM intended to put it. And another thing, this keyboard is USB, so it will work with your PS2 as well, so you can save money by not buying a dedicated PS2 keyboard.

Most TERRIBLE KYBOARD I HAVE EVER USED.......2003-09-17

Terrible, annoying - can't stand it! First of all the PrtScn, ScrollLock, Break buttons are moved where Insert, Home, PageUp are supposed to be . . . The nonsense doesn't stop there. There are Wake, Sleep, Power buttons where PrtScn, ScrollLock, Break are supposed to be. So if you are used to a normal keyboard, when you try to press Home or PageUp you are actually hitting ScrollLock or Break. What's even better is that when you hit the button, supposed to be Pause/Break you are actually hitting a POWER button, which TURNS OFF your computer instantly and you LOSE unsaved data!!! Happened to me twice. Another annoying thing is that if you type too fast this keyboard will sometimes beep and omit a character. It also cannot handle several keys pressed at the same time, which makes it useless for games. If it was not in my office I would have smashed it into little pieces by now.

Ordered two - one arrived broken.......2002-07-10

This keyboard appeared at such a great price (97% off) that I had to get two. For that price, it's difficult to complain at all - but for those of you who weren't able to snatch up that deal, I would still consider this item. The keys are a bit noisy - a bit of clicking - but more silent than the keyboard on my Vaio laptop. I especially like the "Power", "Sleep", and "Wakeup" buttons, however I have yet to get the "Wakeup" button to work properly. The wrist rest is removable, and the black design is classy. The adapter will work on a newer 6-pin or an older 5-pin connection.

There are no instructions included with this keyboard (i.e. explanations of the hotkeys), but the plug and play compatibility was good. There is a help menu once it's working.

My only complaint was that the space bar on one of my two keyboards ordered was stuck - and customer service has not been helpful in replacing the item. Other than that, I would recommend this keyboard.
**UPDATE**

After using this keyboard for a couple of months, I decided to lower my rating. The keys take thought to use, and frequently enters double characters. It's VERY ANNOYING having to backspace constantly to fix the doubles. Even when I adjusted the keyboard speeds on my control panel, it is still a problem. Grrrr.

It is now 2005 and the 1080 is absolutely stunning. There is still not a plasma or LCD that can do better than this picture in my opinion. I read the first reviews and boy did he have it hooked up wrong..anyway...if you want the best, that is what you get with this set. I want a thinner set and have been shopping and checking out the lcd's and plama's, the very expensive one's are close but not there yet. Yeah..this set is my standard of what quality I insist on the next time.Hoped this helped. I am bummed this was before dvi-d...oh well, but the component is still pretty fabulous

Good for what it is, but could be better........2002-12-03

I bought this TV as a replacement for an RCA 36" HDTV that I had had some problems with.... While I don't have the same problems with this TV, I do have some other annoyances....

I have the RCA DTC100 hooked up through a VGA to component video adapter, and two problems appear:
1. The TV always defaults to a 16:9 aspect ratio, even though the TV, picture source (satellite or local broadcast), and satellite box are 4:3. You can manually go into the menu and change this each time you turn the TV on, but it's a mess. Panasonic told me there is nothing they can do to make sure the TV senses the right aspect ratio or that it "remembers" the aspect ratio that you entered when you turn the TV on the next time.

I am thinking about buying a new HDTV box, but I'm not sure that would solve the problem. The output of the DTC100 is a 1080i output, which is inherently 16:9, from my understanding. Some of the other satellite boxes allow you to choose different outputs, such as 720P or 480P, but those should also be a 16:9 aspect ratio inherently as well - causing the TV to still default to the incorrect aspect ratio when watching standard definition TV. The other concern I have with the TV is that I changed the DTC100 to the 16:9 aspect ratio, but the result was a 16:9 within a 16:9 (the resultant picture filled out the width of the TV, but was only 1/4 the height...).

2. The second problem I've had with the DTC100/Panasonic combo is that when viewing a HDTV picture that has a distinct line between a dark part of the picture and a bright part of the picture, such as a landscape/sky picture, the edges of the picture, right around the transition of the light/dark objects, starts waving around and shrinking from both sides of the TV edge by a couple of inches or more. The rest of the picture looks fine, and the center part of the lines that are shrinking looks fine - it's just that one part of the picture that has a problem.

I've made all the recommended adjustments, and nothing has any affect on this wavy edge. I have a service guy coming later this week to look at it, so I'll update this review if I have any luck.

I did a lot of research on these TV's before buying the Panasonic, so it's very frustrating that these minor problems exist. The picture is outstanding, most of the time, but there are times where the wavy lines get really bad, and you can't focus on the story line of what you are watching. And their service number is ridiculously slow - I waited over a month for them to research the issue #1 above, only to have them tell me I was SOL and it was my fault, not theirs...

Great TV - Great Price.......2002-11-15

I did a lot of research before buying this TV, and concluded that this Panasonic is the best 36" HDTV monitor for the money. It has great picture quality, more than enough A/V inputs, and the cosmetics of the cabinet is great too!
I was a little disappointed to find out that they offer a better remote with another similar model, one that operates more devices, but I wouldn't pass this TV up for that minor issue.
I totally recommend this TV to anybody!

Couldn't be better!!.......2002-11-04

After doing MONTHS of research, I went out and bought this unit.

Here are my main impressions:

1. The Picture quality is FANTASTIC. I have played both normal and progressive scan DVD players on this unit, as well as a XBOX, VCR, and Cable Box. The store "floor model" does not do this justice, you have to get it home and run through the "set-up screens". The only downside is if you are in a bright room (lots of windows, etc), as the brightness of the room will kill the picture. As most entertainment rooms are not bright this should not affect most people.

2. The remote needs some work. It does not have "full" control over my Cable Box like it should. It is not able to access the on-screen guide (SA3000 Model). I was told that that HL42 (The one with the sub-woofer) model has a higher grade remote and controls the cable box. Why they did not include this remote in this model TV is just stupid. The remote is also not "feel" friendly. It takes ALOT getting used to certain buttons. That said, get a "all-in-one" like I am going to.

3. As most channels are not in HD yet, don't expect to see that many. My cable company (COX) is coming out with HDTV in mid-Nov...so I should be able to see alot more. But, as the technology moves forward, I see almost ALL channels starting to have a HD option.

Closing....best buy for the money (and HD's are not cheap). But, this unit gives you all you need in a good home TV with HIGH QUALITY results!!

I was quite pleased and proud of my purchase.There was a little confusion about the delivery,at first even after paying the delivery fee to have it delivered properly and because I live on a hill, on the first attempt to my dissapointment the men actually took the tv back,after they asked me if I had anyone to take it up the hill and into the house,one call to Amazon took care of that. For the most part I get a beautiful picture.The surround sound is great,all instructions and help were clear and precise enclosed.The set was setup in the room of my choice and I was given a chance to refuse it or return it. Sometimes I get a sort of fade out , fade in which last about 2 seconds and as yet I have not identified the reason. Over all I really like the set.

I bought this projection TV when it first arrived on the shelves and have absolutly loved it ever since. I would strongly recomend it to anyone who enjoys watching movies. If you want to get the full effect on what this TV has to offer than I would strongly suggest that you buy a surrond sound system to go with it. When having a combo like this it really adds to the effect that you are at movie theater.

I've had my philips big screen tv for about 2 mounths now, and I love it. I shopped around first to check prices and also picture quality and you can't beat the picture quality you get with this tv. If you don't want to spend alot of money and you want the quility of the higher priced tv's than this is the one for you. I promise you won't be disappointed. I have to say it was worth every penny. I have this television and it has a picture that will just blow you away. Philips has really improved their technology in the last several years. This has all the features and more than some of the higher priced brands. Why pay more when you can get a name brand for less.
