VTech's VT 1970ci 900-MHz digital cordless phone offers cordless convenience, clarity, and quality. The unit also contains a full-featured, all-digital answering machine.

We compliment the VTech designers on their intelligent, intuitive product, as we were able to set up and use the phone's features by guesswork alone. You control the phone with the 12 buttons and one switch on the base and with the 11 buttons on the handset (in addition to the usual 0 through 9, #, and *). After plugging in the phone and inserting the rechargeable ni-cad battery pack, we pressed the Menu, Select, and Time/Set buttons to set the date, time, number of rings, announce mode, audible message alert, and the base-ringer mode. The VTech's voice prompts helped enormously during this process. Setting the greeting was harder, taking us about five minutes to discover that pressing the Memo button records the message. However, we easily discovered the handset's caller-ID functions without consulting the instructions.

The answering-machine functions were as intuitive as the phone itself. In our tests, we found that the time limit is 90 seconds for the outgoing message, four minutes for a single memo or incoming message, and just under 16 minutes for total recording time.

In our distance test, the handset provided excellent clarity with no distortion or buzzing to about 250 feet, at which point the signal began to cut in and out. The handset stopped functioning at about 530 feet, which is normal for phones in this class.

Given the easy setup and the great signal quality within reasonable distance limits, we give the VTech VT 1970ci high praise.

ok i got this phone after i saw my brothers, i thought wow that phone is the coolest soo i got it for my birthday ,but the one i got had a stick for a intena, what happened was oveer time the intenna started to bend and on day simply snapped off!! no i have a phone with no intena and can now only go tto the other room. on monday i plann to buy the panasonic 2.4gig for my birthday hpefully this will be a sucses and the intenaa wont be a stick

I purchased this model V tech VT-1970ci Cordless phone for my work desk a while back, and I was very disapointed by it. I bought it because of its wonderful feature set, which is vast, and makes it a very easy phone to use and operate.

Here is the bad news though folks. This phone is just unreliable. Sometimes my calls will fade in and out, and it seems like there is a great distance between me and the person on the other line. If you do adjust the volume the voice just becomes fuzzy and gargled. I suggest you avoid this V Tech phone, spend about ... more and get a digital 900 Mghz phone from Sony. My Sony I have had at home for two years now has been nothing but fantastic.

dont get me wrong, i like this phone a lot. has a nice look, lots of features, good range, and is sturdy. but, like a few other customer reviews, i have to agree that during your phone calls, the call will cut in and out. not too much, but the fact that it happens is quite annoying for the price youre paying. another complaint is that the answering machine is very garbled- not clear sounding at all. some messages i cannot understand the name, number or message.

Not Cool V-Tech.......2000-07-03

This phone constantly cuts out on me, even when I'm within 2 feet of the base. I have a friend with the same phone and it works fine, but somehow mine is bunk. Also the caller ID display is too big and bulky. If you're going to buy one pray it's not [like] the one I'm returning.

Keypad is a problem.......2000-06-28

My V-Tech phone has some good points: great range, excellent clarity, great call waiting (picks up every call quickly), convenient features. However, 3 months after purchase, certain buttons on the keypad would not work. It was hardly the same button twice, and the problem is intermittant, but annoying and inconvenient nonetheless. My friend also has the same phone -- her first, the same keypad problems. Her 2nd V-Tech's keypad was fine, but the call waiting would not register calls consistently. Despite the price and clarity, I would not purchase a V-Tech phone again.

The Best Camera I Ever Owned!.......2007-06-10

I started with the classic Nikon FTN in 1969, and I swear this is absolutely the easiest and best to use camera that I've ever owned. I've abused the stuffings out of it, and it just keeps on ticking! There is an after market flash deflector you can find on ebay that is really handly in using the flash on close up shots without getting flash burn. You can spend $100s more and never be able to tell the difference if you aren't a professional. Love it!

I've had this cam for several months now and I'd buy a Canon power anything again. This cam is great and now its a lot less to buy one. Actually, you can find a better model for less than I paid cause the prices have really come down. Am glad I bought this one and have not even come close to using it to its potential. Go Canon...

Flash stopped working.......2007-01-11

I bought this almost exactly 2 years ago, and I turned it on the other day and went to take a picture indoors that required a flash, and the flash would not work. It was set to automatic flash. Using the auto setting, I thought there used to be 3 flash settings (auto, forced flash and no flash), but now there were only 2. I took it outside on a sunny day and used the auto flash, and the flash went off outside! Something is messed up and it has the light and dark confused.

Thinking I hit something and changed a setting, I reset it to the factory defaults and it still doesn't work. It will probably be too expensive to get it fixed, and it's weird but I just upgraded to a Nikon D50. I must have known this camera was about to die.

Even when it worked, half the time pictures came out blurry. I either got fantastic crystal clear shots or blurry ones as if the auto focus missed. Maybe the camera was defective the entire time I had it. No more Canons for me.

Love this camera.......2007-01-10

I have been using this camera for well over a year and have found no problems with it. I get great pictures either at work or play. I have taken over 1500 pictures. The fold out viewer a great plus.
