I am loving this phone! My friend recommended it to me for home office use--and I, in turn have recommended it to my boss! Sound is clear, handset and backup battery storage are definite bonus! Handset offers flexibility in roaming around while on those LONG phone calls. I don't use the answering device--yet, but I know V-Tech offers simplicity to their great products--I don't think I would purchase another brand.

Great unit but may not last long........2007-07-30

This is a great unit if you have 2 lines at home or office. 2 separate voice mail boxes and good reception at longer distance than most. The intercom works great too to talk or fine a missing handset. You can purchase this base and handheld unit for less than the handheld unit alone (go figure). These units get considerably hot while charging, which must have caused one of my hand units to go bad internally after 2 years of use. Never-the-less, it is a great phone and I purchased a replacement so I can keep it for a few more years.

Great 2-line Answer Machine.......2007-07-16

The best features of this answer machine are: a) the ease of using a headset, b)switching back and forth between speakerphone and headset on the base unit and c) listening, repeating and deleting calls. Also, the fact that you can use the answer machine on line 1 only, line 2 only or
both lines is an added bonus. Great little machine--especially for the price!

Using this product with 2 handsets for about 3 years. This is not a "Mercedez-Benz" phone but certainly an acceptable, reliable product. One handset has developed a problematic dialing button, but you just press it a little harder (smile). Handsets work better if they have fairly fresh batteries. Range is good when battery is strong.

Before buying this subwoofer, make sure that you have the space to accommodate it, and that you absolutely crave deep bass. B&W's ASW 2000 175-watt powered subwoofer weighs in at nearly 100 pounds--a monster of a speaker to move and to configure.

The ASW 2000's bass-beaming prowess is so great that we never nudged the volume knob past 20 percent of its turning radius. Accordingly, this sub gives the best demonstration we've heard (and felt) that barrels of bass aren't always a good thing. Rest assured, however, that in our case--with some fine-tuning of the sub's volume control and crossover frequency (the top end of its range, above which its sound tapers off sharply)--the ASW 2000 successfully blended with our reference speakers to provide a seamless and stunningly firm bottom octave to whatever we threw at it, whether movies or music, romance dramas or altrock grunge.

As with many subwoofers, you can wire the ASW 2000 in line with your regular speakers, relaying the feeds from your amplifier or receiver first to the sub and then on to your speakers. Positioning is often a tricky matter for subwoofers and may be even trickier for the ASW 2000, as the subwoofer's girth permits only a small number of positions in a given listening room. The phase-invert switch proves particularly helpful in this regard; if the ASW 2000 can only fit in a position that puts its output out of phase with that of your main speakers, you can rectify it with a flick of a switch.

If you're patient and have a big room to play in, the ASW 2000 will reward your efforts with oodles of taught, dynamic bass that goes, as they say, all the way down.

I traded in my Velodyne for this..........1999-11-12

I pulled this from a review I wrote on audioreview.com. "Do not listen to this sub unless you want to lose your hearing. I write this as a former Velodyne owner. I had the VA1012 (~$700) for about 3 months. It did fine for movies but was just too sloppy for audio. I wanted something more accurate and more punch. I A-B'd the Velodyne F series 12" servo sub (~$1200). It was definately tight but didn't have the volume for movies. The F series 15 (~$1700) was out of my price range and I wouldn't have been married the next day had I brought that one home. I was getting ready to walk out and be content with my Velo 1012 (that was in the back of Jeep ready to be traded in) when the salesman said, "wait a minute, what about this B&W, we just got it in and I haven't had a chance to listen to it." He turned it on and I noticed my pant legs moving from the air pressure. It turned out to be a B&W ASW 2000 ($1000 retail). Definately in my price range. I traded in my sub and took the ASW home. It's got a 175W amp made by Rotel and weighs ~80lbs. It's big and bad. I took it home and hooked up my Marantz 780, B&W 600 series speakers and Air Force One on DVD. It moves a lot of air and is loud. That was four days ago and my left ear is still sore. I'm going to start listening w/ ear plugs in just so I can have the air movement that I like. :) My coworkers are still talking about the experience. One said they actually felt like they were getting shot in the initial machine gun scene because of all the air pressure. I know that B&W's previous sub attempt at the AS6 was an abysmal failure, but they have pulled themselves out of the mire with this new series. Compared to similar priced Velo subs, I got more volume, precision and air movement for the money. Check it out. I hope my hearing comes back."

An old RCA Engineer... Any APC product has always far exceeded my expectations. I just ordered one of these, and I thought I would pass along that this is the best surge protector APC offers with only 40v "let through" (most "good ones" are rated at 300V), also this one will "kill itself" if necessary to protect your equipment. Other protectors will loose their protection circuitry and keep your equipment connected. I have many stories from personal experience giving kudos to this company's products, but I gotta go.

Quality Filter.......2007-04-09

I'm not going to get into why one would want this specific type of filter - there are books on the subject that will go into a lot more detail - here is one example - there are many: The Photographer's Guide to Filters (Photographers Guide).

What I will review is quality of this product. B+W filters are made in Germany. Germany is consistenly one of the best producers of high end glass and optics. I have been told the reason the quality of these filters is better than most is that they don't make them as separate units, but instead they build a cylinder of glass and cut each filter off of it. Consistent quality. Screw ring is hard metal, so it is very difficult to strip the threads. I have messed up the threads on cheaper brands by accident.

In my experience, buying filters falls into the category of you get what you pay for. Cheaper brands are out there, but if you want a very high quality filter, that is durable and consistent with what you want to achieve with it... you can't go wrong with B+W filters.

Be sure to choose the right size - for example, Nikon prints the size on the back of the lens cap.

Waiting for the price to drop.......2007-07-28

I can't yet afford to buy this camera but, I used it for work when my company provided it while I was in Afghanistan. I used this camera to take shots from a blackhawk and was very impressed with the quality of the pictures. It did get grainy when I used digital zoom but, I have yet to use a camera that doesn't. When the price drops to my price range, I will definately buy one for personal use.

A pleasure to use.......2007-03-07

This is a very nice camera. The battery life on this lasts for several hours. The picture quality is excellent. It is fairly easy to use provided you actually look at the manual. It does take crystal clear, vivid color photos. I had used the one my husband borrowed from work to take pics of our new grand baby. My photos actually came out BETTER than the ones a professional photographer was paid to take the studio!!
It is well worth the list price of around $800. If you can find a deal like I did then I would strongly advise you to grab this beauty!

I have owned this camera for 3 years and am totally impressed with it.
The rechargeable battery is amazing. It holds a charge for a very long time.
I use it for ebay photos and it takes great closeups. My next digital camera will be an SLR and I will definitely consider a Canon. For now this camera still meets my needs.

Very durable camera.......2007-01-11

I bought this camera used in the spring of 2004. Since then, I have taken over 10,000 photos on many backpacking expeditions around the world. If the camera died tomorrow, it would have been well worth the money invested in it - but it still is ticking and takes photos today just as well as it did when I first purchased it. It's sturdy body and ease of use really made this a great camera.

Don't buy this if you have active children.......2005-02-18

This camera does a little of everything, video with sound as well as images. The pictures it takes can be fantastic. Unfortunately the subject has to be pretty still or in very good lighting to get a good shot. I took this camera to a soccer practice of a bunch of 10-year-olds in the daytime with heavy cloud cover and not a single photograph turned out. That included the few I used the built-in flash on (it couldn't focus). I also tried shooting some pictures at an indoor game that were disastrous because of the quick subjects (10-year-olds again) and low lighting.

Even during several outdoor games in bright sunlight it just couldn't hack it. I took several hundred photographs to get 30 or 40 worth keeping. Most of the time I was struggling with the camera trying to get it to focus and snap before the children ran away and out of focus.

I also took this camera to Hawaii for a vacation. It did much better when the subject stood still and smiled, but none of the evening sunset-shots turned out.

The camera also has a flaw in that the lens blocks out part of the viewfinder. This isn't much of an issue once you get used to using the LED to line up your shots.

On the plus side, this camera has a very long battery life and can use the Ultra II compact flash cards. The software was also very easy to use (be sure to read the instructions BEFORE loading it onto your computer, not during).

Overall, my recommendation is to spend a little extra for an SLR camera and leave this one alone.
