With three mailboxes, the VTech VT9151 can record calls for you and two associates or family members. This phone also offers 900 MHz cordless convenience and makes an attractive desktop statement.

To set up the phone, we inserted the battery pack, plugged in the AC power, and connected the RJ-11 telephone-line cord. We recommend that you charge the battery overnight before using the phone for the first time. Voice-guided menus help you set the outgoing message, security code, day and time, audible message alert, announce-only mode, base ringer status, and number of rings (two, four, six, or toll-saver). We followed the menus, and after much trial and error, we were able to set these options without consulting the owner's manual; however, we recommend that you follow the manual for the easiest setup and for a proper introduction to the phone's many features.

In our tests of the VT9151, we placed the base unit in a downstairs area, where walls, floors, and obstructions might interfere with signal quality. We made several calls, and the phone sounded only slightly softer than our corded desk phone, with only occasional, minor static when the handset was close to the base. When the handset was about 50 feet from the base, reception started to get fuzzy. At about 100 feet from the base, interference greatly increased; the handset completely lost contact with the base at about 450 feet.

The VT9151's answering machine can store messages for three people (or for three different purposes) and callers can specify which person they would like to leave their message for. In our tests of the answering system, the sound quality was very good with few compression artifacts. Maximum recording time for one message was exactly four minutes, with a total recording time of 25 minutes and 35 seconds.

Overall, with its 900 MHz operation, three message boxes, more than 25 minutes recording time, voice-guided menu operation, and fun color, the VTech 9151 makes an enjoyable, practical, and flexible telephone system for your desk.

I got this phone when I went away to college. It's fine for a first answering machine and cordless phone on a budget. But every once in a while it would start beeping very loudly and uncontrollably in the middle of the night! I would have to pull the battery out of the handset to get it to stop. The outgoing message is very fuzzy and sometimes the handset wouldn't even turn on. If you are looking for quality, look somewhere else.

I had this phone in my dorm room and it was absolutely horrible! I'm sure some of it was due to every other room having a cordless phone and all the signals intermingling, but this phone was by far the worst cordless phone I have ever used. Even in the silence of the early morning hours (you know how college students are with sleep schedules) there was still staticy shhhuhhhh noises in the phone, making it really hard to have any sort of intelligible conversation. I wish there was a 0 star rating because I would give it that!

I would not recommend this product to anyone who doesn't want to have to buy another phone within 18 months. Less than 4 months after the warranty ran out on my phone, it died and has been unrevivable for the past three weeks.

Please note that I have followed all of the recommendations of the VTech website and telephone support lines. The only thing that I have yet to do is actually request a repair. No doubt repairing this phone will be more arduous and just as expensive as buying a new phone.

I live in a suburban apartment complex, and for me, this phone is phone-omenal. Clear as a bell, can walk to the mailbox with it (500 feet), lasts for 2+ days under light use condition between charges. Answering machine is very functional, I very much enjoy this phone.

I liked a friend of mine's VTECH 900 mhz phone years ago, so I bought one (the 9060i). Problem is: static and chatter sometimes, even when fully charged; even when I push the "channel" button. I live in a dense neighborhood, so maybe that's the problem. Maybe it will work for you if you live on a farm (unless your livestock have cells, so to speak)... You could buy a better phone for less.

I ordered the camera online and the screen didn't dispaly anything. Later I found that my cousin had the same camera and she had to trash it because the battery would die very fast even though she took the pains to buy a new battery for it. I purchased a canon since I thought it was a reputed company and would care about their customer or technical support. But the truth is that they don't even have a technical support number listed anywhere. So thats it with Canon products...

Buy a newer camera.......2006-10-31

I own this camera and while it was very good in 2002-2003 the years have passed it by. There are other cameras with more megapixels, faster response time, better battery life, lighter weight, better lens, etc. Plus they cost the same or less than this camera is advertised for here. I still use it because I bought the waterproof case (up to 100ft depth!) and I use that regularly. You can probably find used s230s for way less than the prices here if you really want it.

The PowerShot S230 Digital Elph camera is truely a usable camera. The instructions are clear and concise. The rechargeable battery and charger are a perfect companion for this camera. All pictures come out great! It makes taking pictures easy, fun, and compact. I recommend buying a case with too, because it is sooo small! pocket size!

I got this camera after looking around and comparing it with others. I'm glad I decided to go with the S230 for many reasons.

Pro's
Small and can fit in your pocket, great quality pictures, excellent movie mode with sound, comes with battery and charger, not complicated to use, all around excellent camera, and again the 3.2MP makes the pictures very pleasing to the eye.

Con's
Zoom isnt the best buts its alright, it takes good pictures when its dark out but you have to edit with a program such as photoshop to make it brighter. These cons should no way bother you much and should not deter you to buy this camera.

I suggest you buy a viking 256MB memory chip because the one that comes with it will leave you able to only take a few pics. With the 256MB chip you take long videos and take well over 1200 pictures. All in all excellent camera and as usual amazons shipped it fast and got the camera in a few days after making the order. I look forward to buy from amazon and cannon again.

compact, strong, and powerful all in one.......2004-02-10

I purchased this powershot s230 from Amazon in Dec 03. Before the ordering I did certain amount of research and had experience with a powershot s200. After 2 months of using, I feel that my decision was definitely right. Because:
1. The 3.2 MP is sufficient for most of daily photo need, either regular 4 by 6 in, or enlargment to 8 by 11 in. I persoanly don't see any necessaty of having a too high MP camera.
2. Extremely compact and strong. This camera has a size smaller than a cigarette pack; and realy stainless steel case. It can be easily put in your pocket and bring anythere, and don't worry about the possible scratches and pressure.
3. Long standing rechargable battery which can at least take 100 flash shots. this is a great advantage over those using AA batteries.
4. Movie with sound, resolution up to 640X480! you check this, Even the s400, s40, s50 don't have such a high movie quality. Plus instant play back on TV, compete with a camcorder.
5. It is peace in mind shopping at Amazon. I enjoyed timely, free shipping, confirmations of every step from order to shipping.
6. the only short coming of the s230 is the software.It seems too complicated.
