Left side of title is thinner than right side.......2007-08-23

This monitor came with the ACER Aspire T180 computer package.
As I look at the blue and gray title bars on top of the page, the bars are slanted up from right to left and is very noticeable. The bars become thinner on the left side. There are no adjustments to fix that.
No matter how good the color is, this is unacceptable.
I'd have to return the whole computer package.

This is an excellent monitor at an excellent price. I needed to buy 37 new flat panel monitors for my library system (thank goodness for grant money!). Amazon's price for this monitor was at least $50 less than state contract price for the same model. What a deal! And the monitors look so good, too. All my librarians are very happy with this purchase.

Excellent monitor for the price!.......2006-11-07

I was a bit nervous about purchasing this monitor sight-unseen, since everyone's idea of what looks 'good' or 'right' is a little different, but I figured for the price it was worth a shot.

I'm thrilled I took a chance!

I use this particular computer mainly for the very visual task of photo editing, and for this purpose, the Acer is an ace. Spectrum and intensity seem true to life, with prints appearing very similar in color and intesity to what I see on the screen.

The only downside is that max brightness is still a bit dark for some gaming applications - not horrible, just wish I could up it a bit more.

Otherwise, I have no complaints about this well-made product. I'm a very happy camper.

NICE!.......2006-10-07

Ordered last Friday, got it Tuesday! This monitor, my first LCD, is SOOOO much brighter than my old 17" CRT that it isn't funny! BTW, don't ever get anything by Envision! They stink to high heaven. My old monitor had to be repaired after only two years of use and was acting like it was going to go on the fritz again, hence.... Of course, the Acer is brighter and prismatically high key off axis, unlike the CRT, but straight on, the colors and images leap out at you like rabbits on caffeine. The on-screen menu takes a little getting used to, but you soon get the hang of it and the whole thing hooks up just like a regular monitor...no drivers needed or anything, in just seconds! Instead of 16", i get a true 17" viewing area and much better defined image edges. If this is the wave of the future, I'm getting a surfboard!

Sharp monitor, you can't shake a stick at the price. .......2006-08-10

As an initial disclaimer, this is the first flat panel monitor I have ever owned, although I have used different models at various institutions of higher learning.

When I first got this monitor at my office, it took a little bit getting used to, but only because I had been using a traditional CRT monitor. If you do a lot of word processing, the text is going to appear quite different.

As far as I can tell, given my limited experience with LCD monitors, this one is well worth the rather low asking price. The resolution is sharp, it displays pictures in bright colors, and the monitor is quick, that is there is little to no "ghosting."

I have not used this monitor for playing video games, so I cannot speak to its suitability for the same. I would, however, strongly recommend this item as a good all around monitor at a spanktastic price.

The best out there.......2007-09-03

I have been using the ACER AL1717 for a few months now and it is absolutely fantastic. Since I don't own a TV I do all my movie watching on my PC and the picture clarity is superb. Mine did not have any dead pixels and it was a great value for the price. The only con I could think of is that the tilt feature feels a little tight, but it is minor. The monitor also comes with a DVI-D port, for high resolution displays but I still have not had the opportunity to try it out. The built in speaker is another plus. All in all, a great monitor at an affordable price.

I am not sure of the proper term for what happens when the laser reads the data CD but whatever...
This player is fantastic in sound quality and portability.
It has a nice hand strap and it's virtually skip-proof.
If I were to rate stars for the above-mentioned factors,it would be a solid *****!
The gripe I have w/ this player is that 2 out of 3 times that it is played,it refuses to "read" the CD. For what seems an eternity,it'll be searching for data and then give up with an "Error" message on the readout.I usually have to try to get it to work 4-5 times before success.
It also devours batteries,but I guess that is not so unusual.
I got so tired of it's problem reading (good,factory manufactured conventional)CDs,I threw in the towel and purchased a Panasonic from Amazon that has not arrived yet.
I'll keep the JVC for bedside use until it dies and use the Panasonic elsewhere;i have had real good luck w/ Panasonic products (all types,from electric shavers to cassette players, to cassette "walkmans",etc.)
So, the JVC has great sound,esp. thru a pair of Sennheisers...but it is frustrating to use.

A solid buy in a quality portable CD player........2007-01-03

The JVC XLPG3B portable CD player is easy to use and gives good quality sound for everything from new age to hard rock.This CD player seems to go through batteries a bit quicker than some other portable CD players that I've had in the past,but battery life is still decent.Overall,this unit sounds good and gives solid value for the money.

I ride a bike to and from work 3 miles a day even in the snow and rain so I used to go through a walkman a year until I bought this one a few years back.It's lasted longer than any walkman I've ever bought(Even SONYs)and there's still great sound in both sides of the headphones.I've dropped it plenty of times in the road and on sidewalks but it's still undamaged so it's definitely strong.My favorite thing about it though is that you can go over bumps or run with it and it never ever skips.I'm no expert on electronics but I think the fact that the music sounds excellant on it and that it can withstand damage makes this CD player a great buy.

Bought this for Christmas for my daughter , what a waste. After putting in new batteries a few times it was useless didn't work. Giving the benefit of the doubt sent back for replacement, to which received promptly but unfortunately just sent the replacement back for a refund this time , not wasting my time on this model . Buyer beware on this portable cd player.
