Great Printer--except for the streaking.......2004-03-03
The first three months with this printer, I loved it--clear photos and crisp quality. But after that, it went downhill, with streaking on the side. I'd seen this in a customer review and thought maybe they had bought a lemon, but the same thing has happened with my printer.
Other than that, I like the individual ink tanks and photo print quality. But nothing looks good when there is a dark streak across your page!
Blurred/Spotty Printing After only 6 months!!!.......2002-11-30
I researched printers and ended up on the Canon S630 as one of the best low budget printers. It installed easily and rinted quite nicely during the first couple of months.
I then started getting blurred text and pictures. I walked through the various troubleshooting suggestions both on the install CD and the Canon web-site to re-align the heads and clean the tanks. I even forked out another $40 for new printer catridges.
I then decided to try and use Canon's email support facility; what a joke. No one ever responded. I called the support number and when I did get through they wanted $10 before they even would talk to me.
If you want a reliable and resilent printer, go elsewhere...Don't waste your time with Canon because if things stop working, you're really on your own.
Best Unit for the Price.......2002-09-01
I do lots of printing and this is my 7th ink jet printer in the last 4 years. Without question, this is the fastest and best photo printer I've had yet. I print mostly photographs from 4x6 to 8X10. You'd be hard pressed to see the difference between these ink-jet photos from a real film one. The first word out of everyone's mouth when they see prints coming out of the printer is "WOW" !
I've had lots of problems in the past with Epson and Canon printers jamming up on thick photo paper, but not with this model. I've printed over 600 photos without a single problem.
As for inks, frankly I have seen as good or better results by using cheaper cartridges like "Print Rite" or ones I bought from "InkSell.com" (... each) than by using the original Canon inks.
With paper, it is no question that the Office Max glossy paper is tops to go with this printer. Surprisingly it is the among the cheapest paper I have found for the best printing results. A pack of 75 8X10 glossy sheets of great paper sells for ...
The claim of 2 minutes for a full 8x10 page high resolution photo is on target for this Canon. My previous Epson took 7 minutes and the results were still terrible. No more Epsons for me.
best bang for the buck and then some..........2002-06-26
i've had this printer for little over 5 months now, and i have to say that you get the best bang for your buck and then some. i looked over printers made by hp, lexmark, etc, even looking at some photo only printers and can't really tell the difference. i printed an 8x10 picture with heavy black ink usage and the print turned out way better than i had expected. further, it's so quiet, i sometimes have to hold my head near the printer to make sure it's running. hands down - a great printer. ...

I've been using this printer for about 3 months, light duty, and am very pleased with it. The quality of black text is very good indeed, and color printing is quite nice. The limited number of photos I've printed look great. And it's fast!
After living for years with the HP 560C's tri-color cartridge, I love the separate ink tanks. I always thought it was really lousy to have to throw out a tank that had ink left in two of the chambers, but was empty in the third. Canon hgas me sold!
One thing - take your time aligning the print heads, and really try to do a precise job. It makes all the difference in the world with your print quality.

A Great Camera.......2002-10-20
I've had my Casio for just over 2 years. It is extremely easy to use and with the hard drive, I mindlessly shoot shots at the highest resolution (2048x1536)knowing that storage is no issue. Having the HD has changed the way I shoot photos since with "no storage issues" I take multiple photos per topic and decide later on my computer which ones I'll use and delete the rest. Accessing photos with the USB port is as simple as plugging in the USB cable and double clicking the "drive E:" icon that appears in My Computer. Although the Casio software is ok it is not as effective as some of the commercial software that is available. After trying a few packages I've settled in on using Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 and Irfanview (which is free) to edit my photos. I've printed 8x10 photos on my Epson ink jet printer with Photo paper and the results are superb. A high resolution, poster size photos can be printed. Since day one, I've been using Kodak rechargeable Ni-MH batteries and battery life has not been an issue at all. The 3x optical zoom I use extensively and I've never used the digital zoom. An excellent camera that I highly recommend.

We have used this camera on several three week or longer trips, carrying extra rechargable batteries and using a bigger storage chip. We get up to 1,000 photos, sometimes things get a little slow after 800, who cares!
Weddings, camping, Grand Canyon, Penobscot River: the camera is flexible from macro flower shots to large vistas.
Easy to use, easy to remove unwanted photos, EASY EASY EASY to upload.

When I went to a football game, I took photos of the game with the flash on. The photos came out too dark when you zoom in. So I decided to take photos WITHOUT the flash. I recognized that the orange button was blinking repeatedly. When I looked in the manual, it said that it was because the camera was shaking, which the camera was still. It said to use a tripod. I got my pictures back, after trying EVERY mode possible without the flash, and almost ALL of them came out blurry. Why make a camera without a flash if all of the pictures are going to come out blurry?? So basically you can only use this camera with a flash or outside or all of the pictures are going to come out blurry?? Canon has been known for making great cameras and scanners/printers. But this camera was just down right horrid when it came to getting a decent picture. It is overpriced garbage and people at Canon should have made a sure shot camera that lived up to its name. The zoom is nice, as it gets good close ups. But when it comes to using this camera without flash, it is impossible without a tripod. I am not about to bring a tripod to a football game. Why have a sports feature on the camera FOR MOVING OBJECTS if the feature is not going to work?? Seems to me, that the folks at Canon are bonafied MORONS!!
A love/hate relationship.......2004-07-30
I bought this camera before reading the reviews, and then was pretty uncomfortable when I saw all the negative comments. That said, I needed a camera for my first trip to Hawaii that was 1)not expensive, 2)light enough to carry around, and 3)uncomplicated. (I am notorious for NOT wanting to read instructions. Some people love to read those fat little manuals from cover to cover. Not me.)
So, I took a roll or two before going on the trip. What I found was not much different than the reviewers before me: the personal setting made horrible, blurry messes, and sometimes the full zoom did the same thing. However, the automatic setting did a great job. So I stuck with that, and almost every photo taken on that setting, out of 11 rolls of film, was beautiful. The camera was ideal for what I needed, especially since I didn't feel moved to go digital just yet, and I'm quite happy with it.
You do have to tell any random person who is taking a photo of you and your friends, to hold the button down FOREVER because it truly does take 4 or 5 seconds sometimes to take the photo.

I purchased this camera to take on a Disney vacation. I decided to use it before the trip to make sure I would be pleased with it. It is complicated to use, even after reading instruction manual. Focusing & centering objects are no easy task; neither is exchanging it for another. Definitly NOT what I had in mind; I wanted a Sure Shot.

This camera take GREAT pictures in the automatic mode, but anytime I try to use the night setting or portrait setting, my pictures don't turn out at all or they are blurred. It's such a shame because the pictures in automatic mode are great.

Overall I'm happy with this camera. I had to replace a point and shoot pentax. I'm pretty happy with the pics I get with this point and shoot. I've gotten a few blurry ones, that I may have moved. Unfortunately the price wasn't as good when I bought it. It has an optional remote control which I was used to on my pentax and the zoom is longer. Overall a good camera.

I was surprised to read all the negative reviews about the canon z155. My own experience with this camera has been basically positive. Since purchasing the camera 7 months ago, the majority of my prints have been sharp, clear, colors bright and true to life. The only drawback i can think of is the pictures do tend to blur when using full zoom without a tripod. I dont think this is specifically Canon's problem, though, because photography books all recommend using a tripod when using a high zoom. At 155mm, one needs a very steady hand or the pictures blur. When I do use a tripod, even my pictures at the highest zoom come out crystal clear. I'd recommend this camera anytime!
Inconsistent.......2004-01-25
Although my canon rebel SLR is incredible and we've had great canon's before, this one is very disappointing and inconsistent. I've had the same problems as others with blurry pictures and delays in taking photos after pushing the button. I'd recommend finding another camera or upgrading to a SLR from Canon (though pricey).
Great Camera - Fun Features - Excellent Pictures.......2003-12-30
Bought this camera in a pinch as our old one broke two days before Christmas. Didn't get a chance to read the reviews here first (and I'm glad I didn't or I probably would not have bought it!). I quickly snapped a roll of 24-exposure film to try the camera out and see if we wanted to keep it.
The pictures came out BEAUTIFULLY! I took some indoors, some out. Some with the fully automatic point-and-shoot, and expermimented with the potrait mode, sports action mode, and night mode. They all came out fantastically!
It's like having two cameras in one - a fully automatic no-brainer point and shoot as well as some features that allow you to be more creative and experimental with photography if you want to. Also a great zoom.
Canon must have corrected the issues that some of the eariler reviewers posted, because I did not experience any of these problems.
Worst camera ever.......2003-10-31
I am so glad after seeing the other reviews to know that I'm not crazy- this camera really is awful! The inconsistent quality of photos is dreadful, with many underlit and blurry for no clear reason. I love my other Cannon and wish they would stay away from making such supposedly "smart" cameras.

This is the OLD product...meaning that there isn't a crease in the back of the protective side of the tape. Therefore, it takes an immense amount of patience, time and fortitude to get your fingenail up under the thin edge somewhere so you can peel if off. Oh, my gawd. Stay away! Or make sure it is the "new" product!
