Customer Reviews:
Works as good as any DialUp!.......2006-10-03
This is a dial up modem people. They are all slow. Faster means you can do one load of laundry while site loads, verses two loads of laundry. Get DSL or cable if you want fast. This modem does exactly what it says and depending on your area and ISP it can go a Tiny bit faster than some modems.
I give it 5 stars because I never had any issues with this modem, just my ISP. I have moved on to cable, because I surf a lot. If you're a surfer, spend the $50 a month and get cable. Otherwise stop whining and go do a load of laundry:)
no speed advantage; uninstalling was a disaster.......2006-06-06
I bought the modem for 2 reasons: everything was supposed to be faster (making the connection, downloading, etc) and the modem-on-hold feature. Comparing it with my 7-year-old generic modem, the connection time with the Blaster modem is only about a second faster. Downloads are definitely not faster, and may be slower; phone line conditions vary, so it's impossible to say for sure. Definitely not enough speed advantage to make it worth the money!
The modem-on-hold feature is interesting; I've not seen any other modem that advertised outgoing modem-on-hold. I had the opportunity to try both the outgoing and incoming only once each. They worked fine, but they're limited by the time limit the ISP imposes; in my case, 3.5 minutes per call. Caller ID worked also, on the incoming call.
Here's the real problem: Because I felt the download speeds were slower than my previous modem, I removed the Blaster and reinstalled my old modem. As soon as I tried to use the old modem, the computer went into reset. Removing the software and the drivers didn't make any difference; the only way to start the computer was with no modem installed. With both modems out, I uninstalled drivers and the MOH software. Ran Norton Systemworks trying to clean up any left over mess. Tried everything I could think of, but as soon as I reinstalled my old modem and the driver for it, the computer went into reset. I finally had to use my backup software to restore the computer to the way it was before I installed the Blaster modem. Everything worked fine then, using my old modem.
Very Slow.......2005-10-18
I bought this modem with the anticipation of a little faster hook up than my original v-90. However, I was very disappointed in the speed and most of the websites I would go to never fully loaded. After running some diagnostics and upgrading whatever software I could, there was still no improvement. I sent it back and bought a cheaper US Robotics which works great
Mixed Results.......2005-09-06
I bought the PCI version, (DI5631) and at first couldn't get it to even load a single page. Then I noticed it was trying to load CREATIVE's own site. The software had changed my home page! I do NOT like that.
In addition, the 'extra' software included on the CD requested a serial number... One I never saw anywhere, nor was there anything telling me where to find it.
Once I changed my home page back to my ISP's proper home page, the modem seemed to work well enough... but seems no faster than the one I had before. I will have to do more checking to see if different times of day have any effect on this.
One last item... The "TAD" cable. There wasn't one.
Overall... I am not at all sure this modem was worth my trouble, given that I had a working V.90 modem already. For someone who is still in the dark ages, (33kbs type or older) this modem MAY be a worthwhile upgrade. For most everyone else, I think it's probably NOT worth the money. (By the wat, Creative DOES offer a full, DSP version for PCI, and that one may be a better choice) The one I bought is HSP, not DSP. (HSP means your computer does a lot of the work, DSP means the modem does most of it)

OKAY.......2005-01-21
I bought a Creative Modem Blaster External Serial a while ago (I don't remember when.) At first I couldn't get the Netwaiting to work right, even though I have call waiting and caller id. But later I reinstalled it and it worked. And for some reson Netwaiting doesn't work again (I've been downloading many things such as a new Opera browser.) But It was great while it lasted. However the faxing software doesn't work when you're using the modem to connect to the internet. This is great if you know how to download it. Also beware when upgrading your computer.

Customer Reviews:
The silent voice modem.......2006-01-21
Sorry, guys, but after about 90 minutes with this thing on a newer XP system... The packaged software would never acknowledge that the modem was on Com 4, but maybe that was because ALL of the Com ports remained grayed out and unavailable during the attempted install. Windows XP modem diagnostics assured me that when seen as a Generic modem it was indeed on Com 4, and was working properly (it would dial with the XP dialer)... Downloaded the newer (?) install file from Creative (you'll need Google to find it, and there's no online manual, no pictures or drawings), still had to refer to the CD during that install for the XP driver. Got the system to see a Creative Labs Modem Blaster and it still wouldn't work... Loooong story, but all I ever accomplished was a system lockup. Actually, SEVERAL system lockups. I never did see the voice software--it never installed. Maybe I should have tried for another hour, done the Com 5 / IRQ / tech support (?) dance, but give me a break.
I need a quality full duplex speakerphone out of this, so I'm going to the Multitech MT5634ZPX-PCI-U which at least has an online manual, drawings, software that looks as if it MAY work, an on board processor, the promise of that speakerphone and real tech support. By the way, if you go looking for a Multitech, "NV" in the item description means "No Voice" (they build with and without), something certain vendors seem to not understand (like, they leave NV off of the otherwise identical item description and ship the wrong modem). Multitech builds a lot of modems, so just be sure of what you're looking at.
It could've been easier.......2005-07-09
If you are replacing an existing modem with the ModemBlaster V.92 PCI Model DI5631, DON'T follow the instructions included in the box!
I'm still a bit dazed and confused from the slugfest I had with this modems installation so I'm not going to recall every detail of it and the various problems I encountered, but I can tell you generally how I'd do it if I had to do it over again.
I read all the previous posts here some of them a couple years old and so I thought surely Creative has gotten the correct driver shipped with their product by now. I thought I'd follow the manufacturers' instructions and be safe right? Wrong!
This modem comes with a Creative CD that should have had the current driver included along with the software...well, the files inside the XP folder on this CD are different than the driver on their website, I believe them to be generic and they won't recognize your card as a ModemBlaster (don't be confused by the date of the driver on their website, even though it's dated as a couple years old that is the current driver).
For replacing an existing modem try this:
Download the correct driver from Creative's site, save it and don't install it yet.
Uninstall your modems drivers and any other traces of it you can find. Check to make sure that no sign of it is found in the device manager or in the control panel under the two icons MODEMS and PHONE AND MODEM OPTIONS. You may want to at this time see if you have anything under your Program Files folder that belongs to your old modem and get rid of it as well.
Shut down PC, unplug, remove modem card.
Restart your PC with NO modem cards in it.
Install the driver file you downloaded from Creative which as of this writing is DI5361WinXPDRV.exe.
Shut off your PC and unplug.
Install ModemBlaster PCI card.
Restart PC, if all goes well, the card will be recognized as a ModemBlaster and not a generic.
Insert Creative CD and install software, you don't need to register when it tries to coerce you to.
It may ask you for your Win XP disc because it needs the file unidrv.dll. If your PC only came with a restore disc like me, you won't be able to find the file in there, so in lieu of that just run a search on your PC and you'll find it in two locations (yes, that's right, it's somewhere already on your PC) then you can direct it to copy it from either of those two locations where the search utility found them.
That's what I should have done. I can't figure out why Creative wouldn't want to eliminate mass confusion by shipping the correct driver and some decent instructions.
I bought this modem for the full duplex SpeakerPhone feature only. I rated it based on its poor installation only, not the card performance which I have yet to evaluate, it's possible the card could've been five stars had Creative been a little more thoughtful.
UPDATE: The Software included for the Speakerphone is named SuperVoice V2.2. Well, its unstable so I go to their website to see if updates are available and find out they're not and it's no longer compatible with the current versions of XP. Thanks Creative.
The speakerphone software was a frustration to me.......2004-08-12
I purchased this modem for the speakerphone feature, but, despite dozens of hours trying to make it work, I have yet to be successful with the speakerphone. I found the software to be incompatible with MS Outlook--and even caused serious corruptions in my XP system.
Does what it's supposed to, but didn't improve my connection.......2004-07-31
I bought this modem to replace my old v90 modem. This modem works fine, but it didn't improve my connection. I still connect at the same 40-43kb/s. I even tried it with two different ISPs, same effect. I even changed the phone line going into the modem and no change. Oh well, it was worth a try anyway, but I didn't expect any miracles.
The installation was easy. Especially since I took another reviewer's advice and downloaded the XP driver from the Creative website before removing my old modem.
Overall, it does what it's suposed to do, but I wouldn't recomend getting it if you want higher connection speed, unless your ISP supports v.92 or you have a modem less than 56k.
Gone, but not forgotten!.......2004-04-24
This modem worked great for us with Win XP, however - after uninstalling this modem and going on to DSL, the darn MODEM ON HOLD UTILITY won't leave me alone. I don't remember ever asking the install to load this. It did, though, and now it won't go away! I would love to know how to uninstall this! I did not ever use it in the first place. It comes up in my system tray over and over and I have to close it down every time I restart my computer and I can't even find it in my system! I HATE programs like this that hide from me and I have no control over them... especially when they are useless! Grrr...

Customer Reviews:
Dislike the New Design.......2007-05-07
I have several of these wallets for my DVDs. The older version has metal three-ring binders. The new design allows quick access, but only to the DVDs in the front. If you want to add any pages, you have to remove the pages in the front; in other words, if you want to add to the back of the book, you have to remove all of the pages! I find this very irritating.
Review of DVB40.......2007-03-10
Its a pretty good product. Although Case Logic changed the format of the sleeves from a three ring to a two strap binder, it does the job. But if you like to keep thinks orderly and have to change or re-arrange sleeves, its a big pain in the neck. I don't know what they were thinking at Case Logic when they made this change.
a disappointment.......2007-03-09
What a disappointment! I ordered this, hoping for the 3-ring binder version in the photo, which has been discontinued and can no longer be found in stores, but instead I received the strap-hinge version. Totally worthless, because the straps become brittle and break within a relatively short period of time.
It would help alot if the picture were changed, so as not to mislead others.
Also, I ordered and paid for two, but received only one. Not good business practice.
Great product, but not like the picture shows.......2007-03-02
Ordered two of these and they are great. The descriptions and many of the reviews are outdated (notice some of them are 3 years old). I had to go to the Case Logic website for a true description and picture. Design changes have been made over the years.
This DVD wallet holds 21 DVDs along with the movie title notes. The "48 disk" description assumes you have two DVD's per title page plus the disks that are slid into the front end-cap. Probably can't fit too much more than this anyway. The zipper is starting to get hard to close on one of ours. (Although a few of our DVDs had thick cardboard title pages and we often stuffed in more than just the DVD front covers. We would have more room if we hadn't done that.)
This product HAS a zipper, but does NOT have the three ring binder system (although the pages are punched for 3-rings). It is Case Logic's new strap system. The wallet is made out of "Koskin" which is a type of synthetic leather. Looks much better (in my opinion) than the fabric wallets you often see.
The other thing I like is that this case is not HUGE. It fits on the same low-height shelf that originally held our DVD cases. If I would have ordered a larger case it wouldn't have fit in the same spot. Also these should be portable enough for the kids to take on long car trips.
I think this is a great product, just like I was expecting after doing my research directly from Case Logic's website. I'm planning on buying a third one.
dvb 40 48 disc DVD Wallet.......2007-01-09
I love this DVD case. All the pages came with two slots for your dvd's making it very easy to organize. It has held up to the constant opening and closing of two kids. The case cleans up very easily and looks nice. We do not transport our DVD's very much and it doesn't get banged around to often, so its difficult to rate its durability. It has minimized our storage significantly and there is much less clutter around the TV and DVD. The system to take out or put in new pages leaves a lot to be desired since it is not a simple three ring open and shut system. This may frustrate people who keep all their DVD's in alphabetical order. With kids I'm just happy to see the DVD back in the slot.
