I have two Creative Zen Nano Plus MP3 Players. One I use just for my metal music and one for old rock and country songs. The player worked for awhile just fine. After a few months, the player turned into crap. Every song on the player was deleted and I tried to turn it on, but it refuses to turn on. I tried to find an answer on Creatives website but I couldnt get an answer and I couldnt email the company. While my other MP3 player works just fine, this player I bought sucks. A waste of money.

I purchased this MP3 player to use while working in the yard and around the house. I love it and am considering upgrading. I find it very easy to use and to organize the contents. Even after sending it through the washer and dryer, it continues to work wonderfully.

I was looking for a small cheap Mp3 player and I didn't care how much memory it had so this seemed perfect for me. I saw that many people had rated this 4 and 5 stars so I decided to buy it. When I got the Creative nano I was really happy with its preformance until I tried to put my subscription music onto it. Thats when I learned that it wouldn't hold any subscription music forcing me to buy my music one by one which is costing a lot of money.
After that I started realising all of its imperfections. You can't use the FM radio in the car without hearing mostly static. You can't search through songs without actually changing the song you are listening to. Don't get me wrong, there are some good sides to this Mp3 player but I still would definately not recommend it.

I did not know enough able this item to have made this purchase. It was a gift and the 13 yr old was thrilled. BUT we had a really hard time setting it up. It still isn't up and going.

I actually have never owned an MP3 player until now, so I don't have much to compare the Creative with. But I can tell you it's great to have a small tool that can do so many things. The radio reception is fuzzy at times and the battery life is pretty bad with the wrong batteries, but overall it has a great set up with helpful file folders to organize, great recording capabilities, plug and play option if you don't want to install the CD on every computer you use it on, and so many ways to connect it to your computer and other hardware.
If you're not looking to break the bank purchasing a quality MP3 player then forget about iPod and go with Creative. (BTW: My player was red not black, but I'm sure the black one's just as high quality)

Every one is right. Good mp3 player, needs better headphones. I bought my first mp3 it is the MuVo, which was bigger but provided a soft belt clip holder that also fitted over th battery cover. It also the main part of the player detached from the battery holder with a bulit in usb adapter, very good, did not have to go through all the cords I have for other stuff. I have been very happy with that one. I bought the creative nano plus form staples for my grandaughter last Christmas they sent me the nano instead of sending it back I decided to keep it and get the correct zen nano plus which could transferr direct from cd player, the main reason I ordered it. Well to cut it short, my grandaughter lost the battery cover so I was going to take the one off mine and I noticed it was really loose, i'm sure it would have lost too. If you really want this player all you need to do is get a holder for it or the cheapest fix is to put a piece of tape on it. The thing is cheap but you get what you pay for. I paid about $70, thats a lot cheaper Than $300 for an IPOD!
on par with sandisk sansa series.......2007-01-12
this player looks cooler than the sansa series, and seems to crash/have errors less, but:
- it lacks a lock button
- the display only shows the song title and track time and battery life (the sansas show much more info)
- the "wheel button" feels cheesy like it could break and doesn't make control any easier
- the headphones are more uncomfortable and fall out for me (i think they are too big, and i have a big head)
overall, i'd say it has a much better value than an ipod, but about the same value as the sansas.
Creative ZEN Nano 'minus'.......2006-12-06
The Creative Nano sucks. 4 hrs and 2 calls to tech suppoert and the unit still will not be recognized by my computer. One of the Tech support help points was to use one of the USB ports on the BACK of the computer rather than the front (not in the instructions). They say that the ports on the back of computers are more capable that those on the front (?). I asked them why they would design a device - with a 6 inch cable - that required you to crawl under your desk to plug it in each time, when there is a perfectly good port (that works for every other plug-in device I have) on the front? All I got was a sheepish, 'yeah, I know' from the techie. Still did not work on the rear port. Then they wanted me to go in and do some monkey work with the computer's register. Forget it. It goes back. It's like buying a radio for your car and then being told you need to work on the transmission to get the radio to turn on. What a piece of crap. Amazon should have an option to rate '0 stars'.
Satisfying for a limited period........2006-12-03
I've been using this product for almost a year untill it broke down.
Once it fell and hit the ground and disintegrated on two pieces,
so I glued them together and then worked fine for couple months
untill sweat penetrated into its guts and made the wire that connects battery with main green plate corosive so it disconnected.
We tried to repair it but no go it's finished.
It's true that I've been using it mostly for running, gym and biking so it
was constantly wet of sweat so probably today would still work if I wouldn't use it for sports but I've bought it for that purpose.
PROS:
- small and quite thin
- one AAA battery lasts for about 18 hours
- simple menu and a lot of functions (FM radio also)
- very good sound for electronic music but not with original headphones
those are crap
- it looks nicer than competition
CONS:
- cheap plastic
- problems with battery cover
- cheap and clumzy scroll wheel
- too short interval of display light
- made in China

NO NECK STRAP in the package.......2006-09-07
Despite Amazon's description, the package contents listing, and Creative's own website description, there is no neck strap in the package of the Zen Nano Plus.
When I contacted them, Creative support stated that "A neck strap is not provided with this product". You can, however, purchase one from them for $10.
This is a pretty shady move on Creative's part, and I am a little wary of purchasing another product from them because of this. If you do not need a neck strap, this will not be an issue for you, but if you want one, or just want the package to contain what it says it contains, you should look elsewhere.

The FRS 250 microTALK 2 is a high-end family radio service (FRS) radio sporting 14 channels, 532 total sub-codes, and voice scrambling. The antenna swings down to facilitate portability, and covered microphone and speaker jacks on the top of the unit make the device compatible with many popular headsets currently on the market.
The voice-scrambling feature functions only when all of the people in your party are using microTALK 2 radios. If they are, then you can select a channel and subcode so that only radios with the proper configuration will be able to decipher your scrambled signal. The FRS 250 can also transmit call tones to other people who are using your channel to alert them that your transmission is about to come through.
An LCD on the front of the unit displays the channel, subcode, battery indicator, and other useful information. An interesting feature of this radio is a button that disables automatic squelch settings and, thus, potentially extends the device's maximum range. Good radio, great price.......2002-01-09
We've been using the FRS250 radio for about three years now with no major complaints.
The radio offers the 14 FRS channels, and can optionally use the 38 "privacy codes" to suppress communications from other radios (assuming that they aren't using the same privacy code as you). By setting the privacy code to 0, you hear everyone's transmissions, regardless of their privacy codes.
Battery life so far has not been an issue. Though we haven't measured how long you can listen or talk on a channel before the batteries die, we have yet to run into a situation where a fully charged set of batteries has run out on us during use. A fresh set has lasted us a week at Disney World, for example, with moderate use (a few minutes of communication about a dozen or so times a day). Still, rechargeable NiMH batteries would be a wise investment.
Some of the more interesting features:
1. This model does voice-inversion scrambling (referred to as "voice privacy"), which reduces the likelihood of eavesdroppers: only other users with a Cobra radio and the "privacy" feature will be able to understand your conversation.
2. There is a "squelch suppress" button that will allow you to hear faint transmissions that would normally be silenced by the radio. Note that you'll hear tons of static too, so only use it when you need to.
3. A lock button, to prevent accidental changes in your radio's configuration. This is more useful than it sounds, particularly in environments where the radio can get bumped around.
Some caveats:
1. Cobra's marketing refers to the privacy codes as "sub-channels", which is a misnomer. The radio only has 14 channels, and these 14 channels are set by the FCC for the Family Radio Service. There is no such thing as a sub-channel. See the FRS FAQ for information on privacy codes and what they do.
2. The voice-inversion scrambling offers privacy only from casual listeners. People with Cobra radios or that have equipment to invert the voce signal will be able to hear you. It is a very nice feature, but it does not offer enough privacy for things that you do not want others to hear (your credit card number, etc.)
Overall, we've been satisfied. It would be nice if the headphone and microphone jacks were combined into a single jack, but this is a minor nit. The unit is less expensive than the equivalent Motorola models, and performs well enough for general use.

An electronics fan from New York State USA They are not good radios! they do not function right and always break. I'm from a company who rates diffrent dadios do not come out on top. Out of 350 radios tested it can out as 310th it is a waste of money!

These radios are the best that I have ever used. They feature 14 channels and 38 sub channels, that makes 532 different channels so even in the most crowded areas there is no problem finding an open channel. In the rare case that someone wanders onto your channel they will not be able to listen in on your conversation because this radio encrypts or scrables your voice. The radios have a tremendous range of two miles considering how small they are. At this price you can't afford not to have one.
