So A few years back I bought a controller like this one by gamester and loved it, then i BOught another one that had an invert switch and then this one over the course of like three years and they all still work perfect, and this one is by far the best, the intergrated communicator works perfect and i love not having to have it sticking out, the grip of this controller is also amazing, and all though I do expect the rubber thumbstick grips to come off they haven't yet but they did on my other gamester controllers, it really isn't that bad, cause you still have a groove to put your thumb in, as well it allows for homemade grips, of course you can also contact gamester and they well at first i sent them my controller and they gave me a new one, and I think they still do that or they send you new grips with the howto put them on or something, but yeah to sum it up this controller is a solid xbox controller that is great for communicating on live

I have had this controller for about 4 months now, and the headset that came with it just broke, i would have liked this controller alot better if it was wireless.
as other reviewers have said it is flimsy and creaks, i have not experienced that and i have thrown it at my wall before ( i was playing halo 2, i was about to beat the game and the power whent out) and it stayed together and i have snapped two ps2 dual shock controllers and 1 xbox controller s controllers clean in half before and i couldn't break this one.

Purchase and shipping took just a week... with GREAT efficiency. The controller itself is slightly smaller than the newest XBOX S-Controller... but not by much. This smaller size adds to the comfort. As for the "invert switch", personal preference is what matters. It inverts the right control stick... not the left (just to be clear). If one is playing a Shooter and decides to switch to a Third Person adventure game for example... instead of going through each game's seperate menus just flip the switch and it's taken care of. I have not yet tested the Live Communicators but for coming with the controllers... there's no harm right? The durability of these controllers is far past that of other "third-party" controllers. Each button has plenty of "action" if you will... I play every day and each button feels perfectly warn in while keeping integrity. Overall... perfect 5. I'll rebuy these if/when the ones I own now wear out (IF they wear out!).

This controller is good if your a communist maybe. The only positive thing I could say about this controller is you can throw it at the wall and it won't break. The sticks are hard to move and don't allow for the pressure sensitivity required for enjoyable gaming. The buttons are stiff. The handles are big and uncomfortable. The included headset is uncomfortable to a grown adult. I didn't use the included headset after the first night. Overall, I would say move on to the next after market controller. I suggest buying the x-box controller type S. Officially licensed stuff always feels better in your hands.

I love this program. I used to work with disabled children and this cd was a very effective teaching tool that the kids enjoyed. The concepts are presented in an entertaining manner so that the children learn while playing. The typewriter game shows the letter in either alphabetical format or true typewriter format, which makes the program also useful for older children. You can select the degree of difficulty making it appropriate for a wide range of ages and IQ levels. I highly recommend it to parents looking for a fun way for their children to learn.

Problems on top of problems.......2006-01-15
The Averatec laptop seems like a great deal - it has a nice design, and lots of neat features, for cheaper than most similar models. But, in my case, problems arose right out of the box. The thing came installed with a faulty CD/DVD drive - it wouldn't even recognize it's own boot-up CDs, much less music or software CDs, and DVDs were also out. So within a month of unwrapping, I was shipping it off to the company again - at my own expense - and immediately victim to the horrid warranty service.
It took a full week to get to the repair service in California. Then, they had it for a full week there. Shipping back was a nightmare - they use a service that does not include pick-up, so, if you're not at home when they come to drop it off (they won't leave a laptop sitting outside), you are screwed. After a week of it shipping back to the East Coast, it took me another full week of trying to catch the delivery person and missing him every day. Finally, I got a notice that there would be one more attempt before its being shipped back to California (!), so I had to take a full day off from work so I could make sure I was home! I finally got my laptop back almost exactly one full month after sending it back.
And the CD/DVD drive is still very picky. 25 percent of the time it won't recognize something in there, and is very finicky about CDs, often developing playback issues (or just complete failure) the longer the time you are accessing the CD.
Now, cut to a year later - conveniently, right at the end of my warranty - and the laptop is randomly shutting down whenever it feels like it (presumably the unit is overheating due to a broken fan or something along those lines). As I don't really travel with my laptop, and it's spend 95 percent of it's life sitting on my desk in the same position, the hardware seems rather fragile. Anyway, to avoid the repair-service debacle all over again, I wanted to have a local computer technician do the job - but Averatec won't sell it's parts. As the customer service rep said over the phone: "You either pay us whatever we charge to fix it, or you have a broken laptop."
I mentioned that, although my warranty was only a year, one month of that year was spent without a laptop because of faulty equipment that came installed on the unit. Technically, I've only had the laptop in my posession for 11 months. That logic didn't work; they didn't really care what problems I had earlier.
So now I'm forced to pay to send this thing off once again. Who knows when I'll get it back. I'll probably have to take another day off from work so I can make sure I get it.
Conclusion: Avoid Averatec, and find a laptop that comes with a sturdier (and, of course, out-of-the-box functional) hardware, and, most importantly, is made by a company that makes fixing and getting your laptop back to you quickly a priority.
Good machine, poor warranty service.......2005-07-26
I've had my Averatec laptop for seven months, it has travelled with me to Australia, South America and twice to Europe, and it's the best match between portability and function one could ask for. However, the DVD+/-RW drive gave up its ghost recently, so it was time for warranty service, and that is where Averatec falls short. You have to ship it to their repair facility in California at your own expense (I chose 2 day FedEx, which cost me about $60, since the cheaper FedEx Ground or regular UPS alternatives would have taken a whole week from the East Coast), then it took them 2 weeks to fix it, then they shipped it back FedEx Ground, which took one week. So, it takes 3-4 weeks to get your machine back from WARRANTY service! In contrast, when my daughter's Sony Vaio laptop died two weeks before the warranty ran out, Sony overnighted her a free shipping box, fixed the thing in two days -- and voila, within a week she had use of it again, at zero expense to her.
A Great Notebook PC.......2005-05-22
I ordered the Averatec AV3250PX from Amazon on Saturday and received it on the following Thursday with free UPS service. I was impressed. As for the machine, it has everything I wanted. I think the display is very clear, the hard drive more than ample at 80 gigs, and with Win XP Pro, the final $876.00 cost after rebates from Amazon and Averatec made the deal unbeatable. The keyboard works fine. There is no serial or parallel port, but the three USB 2.0 ports work well for attaching perhiperals. The built in 802.11g wireless LAN was easy to configure by adding on an access point to my wired router. I used the Microsoft MN-700, which set up in about 10 minutes with 128 bit WEP encryption. The built in DVD RW worked well, especially when I upgraded to SP2 with the MS CD. Adding software such as MS Office was fast and trouble free. The computer comes with sparse software, but who needs all the usual bundled junk anyhow?
I like both the look and feel of the machine. The lights for different functions are colored and well placed. Overall, the machine runs cool and quiet. If there were problems before,they have been corrected. Averatec also offers free 24/7 phone support. The touchpad is very sensitive, but can be adjusted in the Control Panel. No written manual, but it is included in a PDF file of 59 pages.
This is my first notebook or laptop, and from my initial experience, I would not hesitate to get another Averatec down the road.
Great value for a small, powerful laptop.......2005-04-22
I've been shopping around for months for a full-featured compact laptop and it seemed like I was always trading off weight and size for features.
After comparing laptops from the big boys (Dell, Compaq, HP, Sony), I decided on an Averatec laptop because it had the best price for the size and all the features I wanted.
It's so light that it's a breeze to carry around between work, school, home and on the plane. My only wish would be for a better battery life. It lasts for about 2 hours.
Best thin & light laptop for mobile professionals.......2005-03-13
I had never heard of Averatec, and had originally decided to go with a 12.1" Apple ibook for build quality and portability(and feeling hesitant about learning a new OS), but after stopping at Circuit City on the way I saw the Averatec 3250. It sat side-by-side with a Gateway that had all of the same features except for a 15.4" sxga screen and 4+lbs of weight. It also had a $350 higher price sticker.
After comparing the Averatec with the stats for the apple and the Gateway I was sold on the 3250. DVD burner, CD-RW; built in 802.11 'G' and only 4.5lbs. Most features you will find in the sub-$1000 category.
Despite some reviews the keyboard is tactile and solid. The battery performance wasn't quite up to spec, but with the wireless feature turned on and the screen at a nominal brightness level the battery lasted for approx 1 hour 55 min. before placing the computer in stand-by mode. Without the wireless turned on I'm sure this would be signifigantly increased. The included software is minimal, but it does have cyberlink DVD/CD burning software and itunes. It comes with a 3 mo. subscription to Norton Anti-virus 2004 and SP2 pre-installed.
The Only problem I experienced was with the touchpad freezing sometimes. The vertical scroll area on the right side would stop functioning. I downloaded a driver update and it fixed the problem. Also, the 3 usb ports on the side are close together, so either get a hub or get a skinny usb jump drive like the cruzer mini. Most others will take up 2 ports worth of space.
Overall I am very pleased with this product and would upgrade to an Averatec laptop again in the future.
