Aspect ratio: The aspect ratio refers to the shape of the video image. Traditional television has a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is almost square in appearance. Digital television has either a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio. A 16:9 aspect ratio is widescreen and appears rectangular, which looks more like a movie screen, filling more of the viewer's field of vision for a more lifelike viewing experience.

I purchased a FPE3000 Audiovox tv and the ac power is a box separate from the tv. The fans have gone bad and I have been trying for 6 months to order them or buy a new power box. A $2,000 TV THAT I CAN NOT WATCH.

AUDIOVOX WILL NOT HELP YOU, THEY SEND YOU OFF ON THE WILD GOOSE CHASE OF YOUR LIFE. I HAVE FOLLOWED THEIR INSTRUCTIONS OF WHO TO CALL, LEFT EMAIL AND NEVER A RESPONSE. Problems With White Screens: Not Recommended.......2006-02-28

My father bought this TV at Sam's Club and has had trouble with it from the beginning.

Whenever the screen has too much white space, the TV will blank out and go into a blue screen. Sometimes it returns to the program after a couple of seconds, sometimes it doesn't. You can imagine the trouble this caused during the winter Olympic games. It will blank out as often as every 20 seconds, and doesn't stop.

My father took it to the warranty service, and they gave him a new television. He hooked it up to our Comcast Digital Cable and... it did it again. Either the warranty office scammed him, or 2 out of 2 televisions had this problem.

This might be a compatibility problem with our particular cable company, or it could be the TV itself. We don't know. But we certainly would not recommend this television to anyone.

Terrific Value.......2005-03-17

This TV is a great value. It has inputs for everthing, but only two sets of audio inputs, one for regular tv and one for HDTV. I bought a Radio Shack automatic audio switch for under $50 which works great with this TV. I am 100% satisfied, have had it for about two months now. I bought it at BJs for $1,395. One of the best things is that it comes with a wall mount, which I used.

Excellent Value.......2005-01-20

My wife and I saw the Audiovox FPE3000 in a Sam's Club just before Christmas. It was selling for $1,299, far less than on Amazon and anywhere else we looked. We decided to buy it on the spot.

We have been very very pleased with performance and quality of the picture on this LCD TV. We added HDTV to our cable service after getting the TV, and it's an absolute treat to watch HD programming on this screen.

And well-produced DVDs look more brilliant than they ever could on a standard television.

All in all, we think it's well worth the money we paid.

I hope the above product would be great for 98/nt/w2k.
but I have XP and like the same I have scanner Epsom Perfection 660 and it simply doesn't work. I bought one, didn't work, didn't know and replaced for another new one and it again didn't work. I didn't know whether it (the scanner) was compatible in XP.

Best scanner I've ever owned.......2002-02-17

I've had my 636U over a year now and it has never caused me any problems. That is a testament to how well designed this scanner and software are. I've used a lot of scanners from inexpensive parallel port models to a costly SCSI model and the Epson is the one I will choose every time. I've used it with Windows ME and Linux to scan photos, artwork and business materials.

Scanning is fast with the 12mbps USB port although you will notice a slowdown when scanning at higher resolutions because of the large amount of image data generated. That's common to all high resolution scanners and not a problem associated with this particular unit or USB in general.

The scanner works with Windows Imaging, Photoshop 5.5 through 6.0a, MS Photo Edit and other software using the Epson Twain utility. The Epson Twain software has never crashed my computer and its setup was a simple, one-time only affair.

Another big plus is that this scanner works with Linux. I use it most often as my input device for the GIMP program using the Xsane scanner interface. With this OS and app setup, I've never had a problem from this scanner.

Given my good experience with the 636U, I have recommended Epsons to friends and family alike. My next scanner will definitely be another Epson Perfection.

Not Compatible with Windows XP........2001-12-11

Dear Public,
This version of Epson Perfection does not support the new Windows edition of XP, therefore I would upgrade to a newer epson version of the scanner.

Excellent value; good quality, fast scans.......2000-07-15

I've been using this scanner for over a year now, and still like it very much. I bought it to replace a two-year old Umax parallel port scanner that was making me crazy with its glacially slow scans and hard-to-use software. The Epson Perfection 626 USB was much easier to install, does much faster pre-scans and final scans, comes with software that is a joy to use, and does scans that are a very high quality. The only problem I've had with this scanner is that sometimes after using my HP PhotoSmart Photo Scanner, the next time I try to use my Epson document scanner, I can't use it until I reinstall it within Windows (which just takes a few minutes). That may be the HP's fault, though, not Epson's, and it doesn't happen every time I use the HP. Speaking of scanning photos, the Epson does a pretty good job scanning color prints itself, as good as the HP Photo Scanner. It's not designed, however, to scan negatives or slides (unlike the HP), and at this price, it wouldn't do a very good job of that, anyway; the resolution would be too low. But if you're considering replacing an aging parallel port document scanner that you don't like, and you have a reasonably fast Pentium II PC or higher with a USB port, I think you'll find the Epson Perfection 636 USB scanner well worth the money.

Another Great one from Epson.......2000-05-18

This is a great scanner. I bought this scanner for the computer lab for the school I work at. Even with a great number of kids using the scanner everyday it has performed spectacularly even since we purchased it about 8 months ago. It is connected to an Imac at this time but it also worked flawlessly connected to a win 98 box, both of these where via USB. For the price it was much faster than I anticipated. Some of that is the faster connection of the USB. I would recommend this for not only a lab setting but also for home. If this thing works great in a computer lab, then it's certain to work great at home.

Fast scanning and great pictures scanning.......2001-01-13

This was my first major purchase online. I had done quite a bit of research on the scanners, reading reviews, and talking to people at the computer stores. Once I saw the image quality, and the speed that it delivers the images in, I was hooked and stopped my search. I was also pleasantly surprised at the lack of errors when scanning text for OCR. Look for this product online, you will be able to find it MUCH cheaper than you could in a retail store.The only problem I have with it is scanning light remains on while power is on. Everything else is PERFECT! Now I am very happy with the scanner and would have no problem recommending it to anyone.

Quality comparable to commercial, high end, scanners........1999-09-02

I have other scanners that cost under $500, and they do not compare to the Epson Pefrection 636. It is quiet, fast, and provides high quality scanned images. I have invested a lot of money on the commercial scanning of pictures, slides and prints, and I cannot tell the difference between Epson's work and that of a commercial scanner. It is not only easy to use, it is fun. I recommend it over more expensive scanners.

The good, the bad and the bubbly.......2006-04-01

I love compasses. I don't go anywhere without one. In my car, in my backpack, on a plane, If I'm going out...a compasses is going with me.

I bought a Brunton 8099 a while back. I wasn't sure I liked the Brunton's circle in circle idea so I was hesitant to buy one. I finally decided to give it a shot and purchased one. After playing with the compass for an hour I decided I really liked it. I love the design of the compass although the rubber base gets in the way of opening up the entire top. But the 8099 has all the features you could want in a compass and then some. I liked it so much that I decided to buy a 2nd one a month later to have one in my camping stuff and one for local use.

After having these compasses for a while now, I am very sad to say that I will not recommend it to anyone. There are two huge reasons why I cannot.

1st. The circle in circle idea. On the surface it sounds great. And when you see it in action, as a quick once over, it comes across as great an innovation as Brunton pitches it. And there pitch is that it is more accurate then the line compasses. However, if really put to the test it doesn't hold up. Why? This is a bit hard to explain in words but if you go to your local outdoors supplier and check it out, hopefully you can see what I am trying to get at. If you look straight down on the compass and align the circles all is fine and dandy. However, if you view the compass by the mirror or from a large angle (yes I know the center line down the mirror is so you are not looking at it from a left and right angle but bare with me), the accuracy comes into question.

To see this in action, place the compass on the edge of something solid and view the compass through the mirror set at the 45 degree position. Now if you change your view higher or lower you will see the circles start to appear misaligned. So of course your reaction is to turn the compass to align them. But if you were to look straight down at the compass you would see they are in fact not aligned now. And that viewing problem becomes more pronounced the closer to left and right the N and the blue circle are pointing. Just viewing the compass straight down and moving your head around a bit will show the same thing.

When you are out in the field and holding it by hand, you cannot guarantee that you are going to hold the compass at the exact same eye level every single time when viewing through the mirror. So the question becomes how do you really know when the compass is reading true.

So, the circle in circle sounds great, but it is flawed. I would prefer Brunton go back to the standard parallel lines. With the lines, even if you view the compass from an extreme angle, or the mirror isn't in the exact same position, you know when the compass is aligned right. How? Even if the needle doesn't `appear' to be centered with the guide lines, when viewing from an extreme angle, if the needle and the guide lines are parallel with other, then you know your compass is reading true.

2nd. As I stated above I bought two of these. Both formed bubbles in them without going to any extreme temperature or elevation. I sent both back and paid the $5 per compass fee for repair. One of them has once again formed a bubble. I don't even plan to send it back for repair.

I really really want to love these compasses. There is so much to them. But these two huge issues are keeping it down.

Not Worth the Money.......2005-10-23

I was dissapointed. Quality was poor overall. The cover was supposed to lock in various positions, but just flopped around helplessly. The indicator would only float freely when the base was held off-level. Lanyard interferes with cover action. I went out and bought a $15 cheapo that works better.

It does work however and the instructions were OK. I expected a much better quality instrument for the money I paid.
