|
the Zen V Plus holds up to 2,000 songs, and the 1.5-inch OLED screen displays rich and vibrant photos, full-color menus, and album art at any viewing angle. Another great feature built right into the Zen V Plus is the tiny device's ability to support subscription services and pay-per-download music. Plus, you'll never sweat formats--the Zen V Plus plays the broadest selection of MP3 and WMA music. And browsing your music collection has never been easier with Creative's innovative interface that enables effective and intuitive navigation and track selection. The Plus has an extra feature that it's predecessor lacked: the ability to play short video clips. With the Zen V Plus you can watch short clips in transcoded video format and impress your friends with the latest tidbits from the web or a brief glimpse of a home video.
Another great feature is a Direct CD Recording function that allows you to record songs directly from a CD player or other audio source without using a PC as an intermediary. You no longer need to burn CDs to your PC then download to your MP3 player. Just connect an audio device directly to your Zen V Plus, and record your favorite CDs, records, beats and more, direct from the source. Meanwhile, automatic track detection separates each song for you--a handy feature when you're converting analog (records and cassette tapes) to digital. If organization is a high priority, the Zen V Plus's Personal Organizer will help you stay connected and in-sync with your Microsoft Outlook information. Just connect the Zen V Plus to your PC, sync your Outlook information, and you'll be ready to carry around your contacts, calendar, and to-do lists right in your pocket. Plus, the Zen V Plus uses a handy built-in microphone to double as a voice recorder, so you can capture notes, record lectures, and more.
No matter how you hold it, the Zen V Plus is just the right size.

Customer Reviews:
charging from ac or car doesn't work.......2007-09-22
This is a neat little device and i would rate it highly, except I purchased a charger for it and it will not charge except through the USB connection. This is a fatal flaw for me.
Don't waste your money.......2007-09-21
I (sadly) bought 2 of Creative Zen V Plus's as gifts ... and both broke within a week! What good are the cool features (FM radio + voice recorder) if the dang thing isn't reliable? I'm so sorry I bought them. It's worse than if I hadn't gotten these people gifts at all -- it was like giving these people gifts of aggrevation for their birthdays.
Great features, highly recommend .......2007-09-19
This player is great! Excellent features. Easy to read screen. Very bright.
Easy to use menu system. Can customize to put your commonly used commands on the top menu.
Excellent sound quality. Includes equalizer so you can make any set of headphones work well.
Software interface to rip CDs was extremely easy to use.
I have read some complaints in other reviews that the joystick was hard to use if you have 'fat' fingers. I do NOT agree. Both my wife (long fingernails, skinny fingers) and I (short fingernails, 'fat' fingers) had no trouble using the joystick to navigate.
The player is smaller height and width than iPODs, which I liked because they fit places better. Although the iPOD is a bit skinnier than this one.
The player also shows jpegs and video well.
It has frozen up a couple of times since I've had it (about six months), but after hitting the reset button (which you need a small paper clip to engage btw - a pen or pencil don't work) all was fine again.
Overall, highly recommend this player to anyone!!
pay for the 2 year replacement plan -- you'll probably use it.......2007-09-12
After less than a year of , admittedly, frequent use the display of my Zen V Plus dimmed, then became orange only and finally disappeared. Resetting and charging had no effect. After searching the internet I found that others have had the same problem with the Zen V Plus and had to purchase new players. I hadn't purchased the available 2 year replacement plan and so was left with the, then useless, 90-day protection coming with the player. I have since purchased another Zen V Plus but was careful to purchase the replacement plan this time. I would have tried a different company's MP3 player, but compatability with the Overdrive audiobooks available from my public library is important to me and I'm now used to the Zen V Plus's idiosyncracies. The sound quality is fine although there is a slightly tinny undertone. It's possible that the slight tinniness is a function of the original recordings rather than the player. When the player is started after having shutdown, play resumes with the beginning of the track being played when play was stopped -- not at the precise point at which play was stopped. Fast forwarding to the point of the previous stop isn't difficult. However, fast forwarding sometimes makes the player freeze -- at which point the player must be reset. There is a bookmark function which allows resumption of play at the precise point of the previous stop. However, when one uses this function, play stops at the end of the track rather than continuing to the next track. Perhaps one can change settings to avoid this problem; I haven't researched this issue extensively. Other customer reviews have suggested that resetting is difficult. I've found resetting to be easy as long as I use the end of an uncoated paperclip rather than a sharp-ended pin.
Love it!!!.......2007-09-12
I happen to love this mp3 player - it was so easy to use and navigate that my 10 year old figured everything out without even reading the instructions. It DOES NOT take six hours to fully charge, in fact, out of the box it only took about 2 - 2 1/2 hours to charge. It was so easy to transfer songs, pictures and videos..... I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an mp3 player.

Customer Reviews:
Good micro-sized desktop stereo system.......2007-09-23
I'm very satisfied with this purchase - the price was right and it looks right at home on my desk. The squared off angular design looks sleek and professional, and the compact size of the main unit and the speakers don't overwhelm my small desk. I tried the MP3 feature and it works well - displaying the ID3 tags and the disc name perfectly from my CDRW disc. The biggest drawback to the system is that it doesn't really output enough volume to fill a larger room, if that's what you're buying it for. At higher volume levels, you can literally hear the speakers strain and struggle to maintain clarity and fidelity. At lower volumes, it maintains very good sound quality. The controls on the top of the main unit are replicated on the remote, so you can use either and still maintain full control of the stereo. One note - in the product illustrations, the LED display is blue, but in reality, it has a backlit amber display.
Wow, very happy with it!.......2007-09-19
I was a little skeptical at first when I ordered this, but after reading the reviews and the reasonable price of the unit I thought I would give it a try. I am impressed! It has excellent sound and more than loud enough. I bought it for my wife for her studio and she just loves it! The MP3 and CD sound just incredible. It comes with be an FM and AM antenna and it is decent but for me the highlight gain is the CD / MP3 player.
If you want a unit for good tuner reception I am not sure about this one, but then again I live remotely and maybe it is just bad reception due to where I live. If you want a unit with incredible sound with CD's, this one I recommend!
It is also very easy to setup and use. The nice thing is that you do not need the remote to work it as all the controls are on the top of the unit as well!
It was definitely worth the money.
Great little system.......2007-08-20
I really enjoy this system. It is slick looking, easy to set up and has amazing sound quality.
Great Little Stereo!.......2007-06-09
The Sony Micro Component System is perfect for any bedroom. It's small, it sounds great, and it's sold for a reasonable price. My only complaint is that it didn't come with the cable that connects the mp3 player to the stereo. I still highly recommend this stereo system.
Excellent Sound for Classical Music.......2007-06-03
The little stereo has clear sound for acoustically recorded music. It is great for chamber music and opera. The stereo takes very little space and is quite easy to hook up and operate. It is perfect for the night table, and can even be programmed like an alarm clock, to wake one up with music at a certain time.

Customer Reviews:
Not Impressed.......2007-09-23
It's okay, but I didn't like having to record songs for playback. I really wanted to be mobile and still have the live radio.
Review of Nexus 25 XM Ready Radio.......2007-07-18
This is an excellent product and provides perfect receiption.
HOWEVER - I did not learn until I received the product that it required the receiver be placed in a south-facing window in order to pick up the satellite's signal. There is a 25 foot cord provided to reach into another room but that could be very inconveneint.
Annoying automatic cutoff pause between every XM song in playback!.......2007-06-13
The player has what to me is a fatal flaw: when playing back recorded XM content, the player creates an automatic couple of seconds of silence between every song. This break is even more annoying because it seems to not be an inserted space (a couple of seconds of dead air if you will) added between tracks, but rather is done ON TOP of the recording. In other words, the last few notes of every single song and the first few notes of the next song get cut off always. This is more jarring than you would imagine, especially since like most radio stations, XM's songs play back-to-back (ie: the next song is played on the station as the previous song fades away). This is the normal continuous music mix we expect from normal radio listening but the player adds a very noticeable break that cuts off the songs on both ends. This is actually even worse a problem during spoken moments like the station IDs or announcements. In other words, instead of hearing "This is Fred on 44", the player will instead play "is is Fred on fo" cutting off the message. Another example is instead of playing the well-known jingle "American Top 40 with Casey Kasem", you only hear "rican Top 40 with Casey K". It is just ridiculous and ruins the entire listening experience. There seems to be no way around this flaw either. It might be less of a problem for listeners of classical or other programming that normally has silence in between each song, but for those who listen to pop or rock or dance radio, this is really terrible, as bad as if a DJ totally messes up the transition between songs on the dancefloor- what we like to call a "trainwreck" of music.
Samsung YP-X5X NeXus 25 XM Ready Digital Audio Player with 25-hour Playback.......2007-05-13
This portable XM radio/25 hours of saved music, etc. is great.
I listen to 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's music during the day.
My husband listens to his baseball games at night.
If you also get the car kit, you can use it in your car.

Great For XM kinda Okay for MP3.......2007-01-30
When i first got this device it was okay with it i liked that it can record XM which i find really awesome. But if you are a Subscription music fan (napster,Yahoo places like that) then here is the down side to this product. If this product supported subscription based music it would of gotten all 5 stars but it got a 4 but overall Sound Quality is great menues are great battery life is awesome memory is awesome but the MP3 with subscription music *point fingers down* not good. Hopes that Samsung will release a Firmware update to support Subscription music cause i don't wanna wait for a song that i want to listen to play on XM so that i can record it so 4 Stars!

Customer Reviews:
iPod works ok but iTunes is horrible!.......2007-09-08
I've actually liked the iPod, but iTunes doesn't work well on a PC. It freezes up almost daily, crashes in the middle of downloads, gets stuck in iStore and I can't get out... the list goes on. I'm putting mine on eBay and getting something else! I'm sick of constant troubleshooting time wasted with no fix. I'm not exactly a "dummy" I have a masters in computer science!! But I don't have any more time to waste on this.
Ipod Rox.......2007-07-11
I own this Ipod Video and I love it a lot! Good quailty, and very descent, but if you do not put it in a case,it scrachtes a lot
Great Step Up.......2007-07-10
I've rocked out an Apple 2 GB iPod Nano White for a while and loved the mobility and such but figured since I'm heading off to an out of state college next year I'm gonna want more then 2GB storage space...which brought me to this iPod video. The upgrade in space is amazing and you dont lose too much of the great mobility the nano affords you. Costs a bit more then then nano but if you search out for one you can find one at a decent price. I got mine for $120 through an Amazon registered seller and it's been perfect.
I highly reccomend for college kids since you and your room mate may differ on what to watch and you might have some down time between classes but not enough to go back to the dorm or lug out and get all set up with a laptop.
Also highly reccomend for somebody whose nano just doesnt hold enough.
I love my Ipod!.......2007-06-26
I love my Ipod! I can now take everything I might want to occupy myself in the case I have some lag time between appointments, or easily show off my latest photos of my kids. Fits just right inside my purse, and the calendar function comes in handy, especially for birthdays, and other things that occur regularly throughout the year. Between my cell phone and this baby, I really do have everything I need right at my fingertips.
My favorite Toy..........2007-06-09
I am loving this iPod...since getting it, i have over 1300 songs and not once an i having a problem with it. I told all my friends where i got it. Hopefully, they took my advice in buying it here.

Excellent Cd Changer for the Price!!.......2007-08-21
I purchased two of these after reading the reviews. I am totally happy with them. As one of the reviewers said, they are easy to hook up. I wanted to make sure I had a CD player that would read my cd/r's - and they do! No more crazy error messages!! I haven't had the opportunity to check out any MP3 CDs yet. The price makes this cd changer a great value. Would recommend this item to anyone.
A Fine Player.......2007-07-09
I've had this machine for about 2 months with no trouble. Everything works the way it should with no bizzare quirks. This machine is probably one of the best in this price range.
5-CD Carousel Changer.......2007-03-19
I am totally happy with this CD player. I had one before made by Teac that was similar to this one and it lasted 10 years. It's easy to hook up and plays beautifully. I would recommend this product to anyone.

The Dual XDM6820 delivers the goods with pre-amp outputs, a unique "iPlug" adapter for a line-in connection, plus an impressive internal amplifier (50 watts x4, 18 watts RMS) that will put some serious kick in your car audio experience. Add all this to an AM/FM tuner and a CD player with MP3/WMA compatibility and you're all set to roll with great sound.
The XDM6820's large, rotary control knob makes it easy to make quick system adjustments, while an easy-to-read black and white LCD display keeps you informed of levels, CD track info and time of day. The unit's faceplate is also detachable for added security. Five automatic equalizer settings (Pop, Jazz, Classic, Beat, and Rock) make it easy to quickly tailor the unit's sound to match your musical tastes. This unique attachment makes it easy to plug in an iPod or other digital audio player for playback through the car stereo.
Note: Professional installation is recommended for this product.

Disappointing.......2007-09-19
After thirteen months, my display died. Also, the lights on this face plate are wayyy too bright. I've had to cover the blue buttons with electrical tape because they're too bright and there's no way to dim them.
good but not great.......2007-08-26
it is a good cd player works great and sounds good the only downfall of tis produsct it not being able to dim the light on the keys durin noghttime driving it can be annoying and destracting with the keys bein so bright other than that it was a great cd player for the price that was paid
One Hitch.......2007-08-23
The product is a good one with the exception of one hitch. I have a 95 cavalier and the stereo wont completely fit into the spot it's supposed to go. I dont have really any experience installing my own stereos so I was wondering if anybody has any tips.
Very good system........2007-08-09
I really like this system. Took me about 30 mins to install the stero for my 1992 nissan sentra. I did not even need to install the harness. I recommend you get it for the price.
I'm loving it!!.......2007-08-08
I own a Mobile D.J. business in California and am extremely pickey about the music I play/listen too and THIS unit is fantastic!!
The clarity is unbelievable-the bass is thumping in my Ford Explorer (stock speakers, to boot!) and the look is not "busy" as other overly priced stereo units with so many graphic designs and pulsating lights on the screen that you don't know where to find the track number, much less where the "Play" button is located.
And the best part? With rebate, it only cost me $69.00 plus tax! What a bargain.
Installation was a breeze in my vehicle-wires and manual were very easily laid-out/marked and my only fault was that I failed to know that my Explorer has an amplifier installed into the rear side wall and after installing the unit, received NO audio whatsoever-after calling a local installation company (Circuit City) the tech asked me to connect the amp. leads together and this should work-seeing that there is a factory installed amp which, if not connected, will disallow the speaker to produce music. After getting this information, I disassembled my unit, put the two wires together and that was all it took-the sound is extraordinary; especially for such a low cost unit. I recommend this to ANYONE interested in getting a great unit. (Downside? Just one...the Power and Loudness and Audio, etc. buttons are very narrow and go around the edge of the volume button, so if you have large fingers, it's going to be difficult to access these quickly or easily, but if you can work around this, you'll be very satisfied with your purchase.

Small Price for a lot of Sound.......2007-09-19
I was looking for a boombox that would play MP3 formatted CDs as well as regular CDs and have an auxillery input jack for my MP3 player. This RCA boombox has all of these features and it offers great sound. It has predefined playing modes (rock, jazz, classical, pop)and a bass boost feature which adds some depth to the music that plays. Sure you can find something a lot louder that costs a lot more. But for the money this little boombox can hold it's own. I also like that it is light weight, easy to carry around with you, and has a user friendly interface. The only feature that I would like to have had is a remote. But again for the price you can't go wrong.
Bought it for miss Fe, and she Loves it........2007-07-26
This RCA dedicated CD player, no bomb like the units w/ cassette doors on em, this player rocks. It is the only mp3 cd player you can find that is good & reasonably priced too. I think miss Grace is gonna get one soon too. Definitely recommended. Oh, fyi, Thompson Corp. who offers support for these units, is seen all over the web, as probably the worst in the business. But the player should work flawlessly, forever.

XM radio offers an incredible selection of music, sports, talk, and more.
|
Then, listen to your tunes and talk radio while you're on the go. In addition to handling XM content, you can also play songs from your existing library of MP3 and WMA music files (including purchased downloads). Plus, you can mix your recorded XM content with your music files -- create a playlist with XM recordings and your own digital music.
Because the Nexus is an XM ready device, it's designed to interface with the XM Connect-and-Play antenna. Simply plug the home antenna into the Nexus and you're rocking to XM's 150-plus digital channels. No additional accessories or installation are required. In addition to charging the device's battery, the included home docking station lets you use the Nexus as an XM receiver to play live XM content through your home stereo (the dock features stereo RCA outputs).
Featuring a full array of programming -- from talk shows, comedy programs, and live Major League Baseball broadcasts to just about every musical genre from bluegrass to jazz -- XM Radio is the fastest growing satellite radio network in the world. All XM metadata is displayed on the Nexus' front panel display, including full song title and artist name, as well as information extras such as stock and sports score tickers.
At 3.4 x 1.9 x 0.7 inches, the Nexus is pocket friendly and designed to go wherever you go. The embedded 1 GB of internal memory gives you ample space for storing your music -- up to 50 hours of content will fit on the device. Music is transferred between your PC and the Nexus via a high-speed USB 2.0 connection.
Another cool aspect of the Nexus is its support for the XM + Napster music service. If you hear a song you like on XM radio, simply "tag" it and easily purchase and download that artist or song via Napster. It's a great way to discover and own the music you like.

Absolutely love it!.......2007-09-18
As long as you understand that this device is NOT Live XM, then you'll love it. I'm using for my long commute, and some of the areas do not get good XM coverage. So having 'recorded' content is actually a plus. I just record new sessions overnight, and grab it to go the next morning. Another plus, it the tiny size (much smaller than the ones that have the transmitter on board). It is so small, that I don't even realize it is in my pocket.
A few other reviewers mentioned a 'break' or 'gap' between songs. I have NOT heard this at all. Listening to recorded content is identical to live content on my device.
And the recording sessions are nicely organized so you can listen by Channel, by recording session, by playlist, by artist, or by individual track.
It was super easy to install and activate too.
I would buy this again in a heartbeat!!
Another discontinued XM radio for too much money.......2007-09-07
Once again, Amazon demonstrates its inability to offer competitive prices for contemporary, non-discontinued products.
This radio will not function as a satellite radio without using the docking stations. While portable it only plays recordings on the internal memory.
The radio does come with a home docking station but you will have a hard time finding the car kit because all Samsung XM hardware has been discontinued as of early 2007. Not only that but the car kit is large and awkward for use in a car. Part of the reason is the sheer bulky awkardness of the docking kits, which not only require you to plug in the NeXus unit but also require you to plug in a little 1"x1" cartridge in order to receive satellite radio. Carrying around two units, one of which is the cartridge, makes this a really bad design for people who are comfortable with carrying their satellite radio from place to place--all the other XM radios are better at this, which is ironic since this is supposed to be a portable unit.
Interesting concept but poor execution and it's too bad Amazon.com is still only a bookstore web site. It's still selling this thing nearly full price even though we are over 8 months from its being discontinued.
Meets Limited Expectations Nicely, Constrained by the XM Format.......2007-08-28
First XM offers superior music to Sirius, sounding better, stronger stereo signal. Unless you absolutely must hear Howard Stern, XM is the better choice for music fans.
Second, this package from Samsung is well-designed with all the features you need to get on XM from your home. Remember the unit cannot tune in live XM while you walk around, only when it is docked. This is fine, as efforts so far to provide true mobile access from XM and Sirius have both been pretty miserable, with portable shoulder mounted antennas and large uncomfortable oversize headphones that sound rotten, and barely functional signal tuning even with the stupid devices. Live personal non-car based mobile access is neither feasible nor desirable with current tech. Instead the Samsung records up to 25 or 50 hours of XM broadcasts and then plays them back later as you walk around. A good compromise, and you can get live tuning when the unit is docked. You can connect the dock to your home stereo, but the kit does not include an FM transmitter so you must use a wire connection. This kit is all you need to get up and running, and is a lot cheaper than other options from XM or Sirius. If you want cheap satellite radio, this is it.
The Samsung Nexus is a decent player. Controls are easy to figure out, and the screen though tiny has all you may need on it. The player feels a bit lightweight and plastic, and the MP3 function is an afterthought as the memory is small and devotes half of the space to XM files, even if you don't need or want that much space. As a result, you can only have half a gig of your own MP3s on the Nexus. (512 MB of MP3 files? Why bother?).
The real issues with the Nexus are really issues with XM. I think it's fair to link XM service to this product in the review, as the Nexus is pretty much useless without an XM subscription. XM service to me is a big "maybe" as there are three major issues with the existing service.
First, you may not be able to tune anything in. Land based transmitters are only available in several big cities, and the satellite system is dependent on your location to the southwest sky and the signal interference in your area. I work in downtown Manhattan and have a clear view of the Southern sky but despite this I could not tune in a usable signal from either terrestrial or satellite based broadcasts. I could tune XM in fine from home, but as I explain below, I have no real need for XM at home. Before you activate your account, make sure you can tune in the XM Sample channel One, which you should be able to do without subscribing. If you can't tune in the sample channel, don't bother activating the unit, send it back and spare yourself the heartache of dealing with XM subscription service.
Second point, XMs efforts to keep subscribers at any cost make AOL look like amateurs. It is literally impossible to unsubscribe from XM. I tried for three months in a row on a prior subscription, and could not get the account closed. I was promised they would close the account, credit my card back etc, and even after half a dozen phone calls to different agents and even supervisors, the account was never closed and no credits were issued. XM Staff gave me a few months for free when I tried to close the first time, and I got the impression they would have given me some more free time when I tried to close the account again, so if you like calling up and threatening to cancel periodically and getting some free extra months out of the deal, this may be for you. But if you think you may ever want to close the account and walk away, you are in for an ordeal. I finally called my credit card company, and they cancelled future payments to XM and refunded me my last month of unwanted charges. The credit card customer service dept said this was a common problem with XM Radio accounts. Unless you are certain you know you want XM service indefinitely or forever, think carefully before subscribing.
Final point: who needs XM? If you have a computer with internet access, you can get dozens of free internet radio stations with similar quality and variety to what XM offers. If you drive and want XM, this may be a good fit if you don't mind choppy reception and sudden drop-outs on occasion. But if you are at home, you can do as good or better than XM for free on your PC, and by using various wires or wireless gadgets you can broadcast the signal from your PC to your home stereo. Yes, the gadgets cost a bit, but this is a one time charge, not the endless $13 a month that XM charges you till the end of time. My employer blocks streaming internet radio on our corporate firewall so I thought I would get XM so I could listen to the service at work, but as I said above, I could not tune it in. I don't need XM at home, and don't want it in my car, so I sent the Samsung back to Amazon for a full refund.
Moral of the story: if you are sure you like XM and want to subscribe for the indefinite future, if you can tune the broadcast in, and if you are really sure you can't meet your radio diversity needs in any other way than XM, the Samsung Nexus is an excellent and inexpensive way to experience the medium.
XM Satellite billing issues.......2007-07-14
XM Satellite billing issues
I had read this earlier on posts regarding XM's billing practices but thought it was just that person's problem or misunderstanding. Unfortunatley, I was wrong.
When you sign up for XM online you give over your credit card # which is then in their greedy little paws. After trying one of their radios for a few weeks I decided there were some good features but nothing worth keeping. I returned the radio to an area big box store w/o any issues.
I had only paid for a 30 day subscription with my credit card but they continued to bill me.
Links on the web site for unsubscribing lead to another page of links w/o telling you how to unsubscribe! When I called to find out why they were continuing to bill me one representative gave me a runaround saying that even though they could cease billing me they had to bill me as the radio had still been running (this is well over a month after returning it)!. Eventually they agreed to a partial refund even though I do not trust them to not bill again.
For those who might say this is not about the equipment listed on Amazon, I believe it's impossible with satellite radio to unlink the radio programming or the billing issues from the equipment. This is not Amazon's fault, but I think consumers need to be warned.
If you must try XM, I would highly recommend using a credit card that you add money to for any individual purchases not your usual purchases. I do not, however, think they're a very honest company.
I'm ordering this radio to use along with my Nexus 25.......2007-07-10
I have a Roady XT as well. but it isn't portable. I took my Nexus 25 to a dental appointment today and listened to my favorite show while having treatment.
As James explained in his review, you are paying the subscription for the passport mini tuner, and can use as many radios as you like with it. Only radio one at a time can be live. And each radio must be connected live at least 8 hours a month.
This is a good value. The passport mini tuner alone is retailing for $30 at my local Best Buy. If you're interested, Google XM Passport and see what they have planned for it.

Sony ICDSX46 - 128MB Digital Voice Recorder.......2007-07-25
So far so good. I haven't used to the maximum extent. I still have to explore all the features and the audio capabilities in a large crowd.
Still No Vista Drivers.......2007-07-14
It works, but just no excuse for not having Vista drivers out. It's 8 months since Vista came out, and the only drivers out there are in Japanese. For the last 7 months, I called their tech support and got nowhere, then finally found info on their web site. Then they pushed their release back from June until the end of July
A little & nice-looking device .......2007-07-13
This digital recorder is very convenient for me to bring it all day , and with easy operation. I really like this a lot and now I suggest you to buy one, then you'll find out that the recorder is very useful.
Good recorder... if you get it to work with your PC........2007-06-28
This recorder is a sleek little device and has good features that I won't bother repeating here.
What is *very annoying* is the Digital Voice Editor software and the USB connectivity. I've re-installed the software numerous times without getting it to work. The recorder shows PC Link, the DVE software shows my recordings, but as 0.00.00 length! Clicking on a recording just gives an error.
Sony has a Windows Media Player plug-in, but WMP fails to recognize the recorder.
Dragon Naturally Pro 9 fails to recognize the recorder too. (This same model is sold with this software as ICD-SX46VTP)
USB connections (under Device Manager) shows the recorder but it doesn't show up anywhere else??
Sony support for this model is non-existent. Not even drivers in its support section.
After my frustrations with this recorder (and googling for answers), I've read that pretty much all the Sony Digital Recorders use the crappy DVE software. I would recommend that everyone stay away from Sony recorders just because of this DVE software.
Imagine the silliness of spending a big chunk of money on "digital" recorder, that will not even connect successfully to your PC?! I'd
Love the recorder, hate the software.......2007-06-03
I love this recorder and never leave home without it: use it for interviews (excellent sound quality) and to listen to podcasts and so far, it's been very reliable. The only big problem is the software Digital Voice Editor 2. It's crappy, buggy, crashes all the time. It refuses to import certain types of podcasts (MP3 of 44 Mhz or more if I remember well.) The fact that Sony doesn't provide patches and updates for this awful software is pretty infuriating. I don't even know if it's Vista-compatible!
