It's an ok center channel.......2007-05-15

i have owned this center channel for almost 2 years now. It took me almost a year to finally get it to where it sounded good, as others have stated it was very quiet and nobody could really hear any of the dialogue. I recently purchased a new amplifier as this speaker is 4-8ohms and most amps are 6-16ohms. having an amplifier with a lower ohm rating will push more power per channel which will in turn make the speaker sound better, i also used 12 guage wire which may be a little bit big but it made the speaker sound 100% better i can now hear everything in movies with no distortion at all

Sound is a bit muddy .......2007-02-18

I've had this as my center channel speaker for a couple of years now. My previous center channel was a Yamaha model and I was quite pleased with it, but at some point I needed to get something with a smaller footprint and I chose this Bose.

The big draw of the Bose for me was the shorter height, but I'm not completely satisfied with the sound quality. The sound is a bit "muddy". Dialog doesn't seem as clear as it could be, and I sometimes feel like I'm missing part of what is being said. I even had my hearing checked to see if I had a problem. I didn't thank goodness, but even so I decided to temporarily go back to using the Yamaha center channel.

To my surprise, the Yamaha center channel no longer sounded good. It sounded tinny and cheap compared to the sound from the Bose. So while I can't give the Bose high marks, it's not the worst speaker out there. I'm now using the Bose again, but due to it's relatively high selling price, I can't fully recommend it.

Compare for yourself.......2006-07-05

I own a Bose VCS-10 center channel. I would say that it is a good speaker for certain applications. You will find worst and your will find better. A few thoughts.

1) Many indicate that the speaker will sound better by adjusting your receiver. True. And that holds true for any speaker.

2) It is a slim design. True. At the same time, you can find a few others that are just as small or smaller. I would say that it is a matter of personal preference of style. What I find is that the Bose VCS-10 works out great with my old Sony 36" WEGA from 5 years ago. About the right size. But switching to a 55" widescreen...it doesn't look right and not integrated.

The best advice I can give is to go listen to the speaker for yourself and inspect the construction...and how does it fit in your entertainment center. Compare to other speakers for sound and appearance.

The biggest advice is in a home theatre...make sure to get an excellent center channel. That is where most of the action is and which will make a difference.

Bose is good, but I have moved on.

I don't see whatis wrong with the unhit like some people are saying. It is great and really locks in the dialog. It is low so it does not block the tv screen. Maybe it is like the other guy said and you have to balance out your system. I used the Avia dvd and now all the speakers sound great

I have no axe to grind with Bose. I originally bought this speaker for a custom cabinet with almost no room for a center channel set up. This speaker has an incredibly small footprint. If space is limited, this is not a bad option.

However, being honest, this is not a great center channel speaker. Choosing speakers is like the addage "certain horses for certain courses." Your budget, your room, your components - all play a part.

I have two home theater setups. One is a daily gathering area with basic in wall treatments from Polk Audio. The other is a dedicated theater utilizing Definitive Technologies with B&K Reference 7.1 Processing. Clearly the Bose VCS-10 can not hold its own with my larger setup. However, I have run it with my Polk Audio's and it was workable. The timbre match was slightly off and the vocals were not as sharp as they are with my Polk CSi3 but it was not awful.

My bottom line - you can certainly buy a better center channel speaker. Can you buy a better one in this price range. I think so - if you are only focused on the quality of this one speaker and not the blended sound of your system. You should always buy the best components within your budget - but remember you are building a system - it's not just about one speaker. If this speaker fits your space and (more importantly) matches your other speakers, then it may be the right speaker for you.

The Go-Video DDV9700Z Dual-Deck VCR provides two hi-fi stereo four-head VCRs in one convenient package. This compact unit allows you to conveniently copy a tape or record a TV show while watching a second tape. Despite having the equivalent of two VCRs inside, the Go-Video DDV9700Z is easy to set up, compact, attractive, and has intuitive controls.

It's easy to tape a TV show while watching a tape. However, because the two decks share one TV tuner, you can not tape two different TV shows at the same time. Copying tapes is surprisingly simple: You just pop in the tape you want to watch (as you would on a conventional VCR), insert your blank cassette into the second tape slot, and press record.

If you want to make more customized copies, the DDV9700Z features multi-scene editing functions. You can select up to eight scenes anywhere on your original tape and copy them to another tape using only the buttons on the remote control. With appropriate multimedia software, you can even control editing and scene cataloging from your PC through the VCR's external PC control port.

With its enormous list of features, two fully functional four-head hi-fi stereo decks, sophisticated editing capabilities, and nearly perfect copying, the Go-Video DDV9700Z makes a great addition to your video setup.

Good VCR, but has problems.......2000-05-27

I have to admit that this is a very good VCR in the case of dupilicating tapes. However, this VCR comes with WAY too many features that makes the operations relatively (actually, unneccessarily) difficult. Taping from tape to tape is very easy and the result is very sharp, however, taping from TV doesn't seem that well. The picture sometimes shakes even I tape on a brand new tape (I know it is not tracking problem). However, it is not a bad VCR at all, especially a Dual Deck Super VHS at this value.

Absolutely fabulous! As a former retail electronics manager I can't say enough about the value this product provides at such a low cost. Disney films for the kids, recent releases, and old favorites can all be copied with fantastic quality of picture and ease of use. This is the greatest VCR value online or anywhere else for that matter.

For starters, the Go-video has enough surface area to support alarge TV directly on top of it. The value of having two decks goesway beyond bootlegging, and promulgating your edited camcorder masterpiece. Its the luxury of putting in two different movies, and deciding which one to watch at the last minute. Or rent Braveheart, put 1 and 2 in at the same time- no need to mess around at halftime. With The Godfather, you'll have two switch once. The 4 head action allows for clean slow-motion and visual fast forwarding, and it goes from "stop" to "play" in under two seconds. When copying a tape, don't be afraid to hit slo-mo for your favorite scenes (this goes especially for home videos) It will be a good laugh the second time around. The Go-video is pure horsepower under the hood. In an era where DVD's will inevitably put VHS to rest, it's one of the few VCRs out there that you will get compliments on. It may be excessive for some people, for others its really functional and HiFi, justifying the cost premium over the single-shooters.

The Best VCR available.......2000-02-02

Simply the best VCR available. My old VCR recentlyperished,and I looked to Reports for some guidance on purchasing a newone. I bought the top rated one, the Panasonic, and was immediately disappointed. The picture quality wasn't as good as my old one, nor was the quality of the copies it made. I returned it on the premise that it was defective and was given a replacement. Same problems. I talked to a technician and was told, "they don't make them as good as they used to" -- implying that I would have to settle for less. Wrong! On the advice of a friend I then purchased the Go-Video. The best VCR I ever owned. The picture quality is even better than my old VCR! The copies I make of shows are outstanding, and I can make perfect copies of these tapes to give to friends or family. Certain shows I keep but want to edit out commercials. With the Go-Video I get a copy as good as the original, but with no commercials! (editing out commercials is not automatice, but easy). You can probably tell that I really like this machine, and I think everyone should have one. Superb quality and versatility. A must buy!

Some shortcomings of the GO-Video DDV.......1999-12-04

Don't misunderstand. This is a great machine and concept; I own two. However, the product can be improved with two features: (1) commercial advance (both decks), and the ability to record two incoming TV shows on different channels at the same time.
