AWESOME.......2007-03-11
It's cheap, it's portable, and the output is great. You can take it with you when you travel, when you get back to the hotel, print a postcard from a picture you took that day! My wife and I really like it.
The Excellent Canon Selphy CP400.......2007-03-02
For a photo printer with dye sublimation so that your pictures are non-water soluable and come out crisp and clean the Canon Selphy CP400 is amazing. I have used it for very high volume printing and it is reliable and perfect every time. The packs of postcard paper come with their own ink catridges for the exact amount of ink for the paper used so you never end up with paper and no ink. The price for these paper/ink combos is totally reasonable although I do recommend purchasing the 108 sheet packs for super economy. There are certainly lots of different kinds of photo printers out there that have more features but because of the simplicity of the CP400 you know there won't be much that can go wrong. This is a wonderful item and I really do intend to purchase another one to keep on hand for double printing or in the event something happens to the first one. Excellent purchase, come highly recommended!!!

I was very pleased with this product. Packaging was great, product in new conditions. And I recieved printer earlier than expected. Truly deserves more than five stars.
thumbs up.......2006-10-21
this is a great little printer especially for its size and price ($40)
prints a little dark often, but that can be adjusted on the software side
it has never jammed or otherwise messed up a pic
The little printer that could.......2005-12-24
I wanted a simple printer so I could print a few prints from time to time to hand out. On sale for $50, this seemed like the right one.
I already had the included Zoombrowser and Photo Stitch software installed from my prior purchase of a Canon A95 camera, so I just needed to install the driver. Note this requires a USB cable (not included) to the printer.
As is human nature, I tried to print without reading the Zoombrowser instructions, and got a lovely plain sky-blue print with the words "My Album" on it - but no photo :-) Then, out came a stunning second print which was totally blank but with some faint horizontal lines - this was from a residual click from my first attempt. Ok, Ok, so I looked at the PDF printing guide for about 15 seconds, and followed the instructions.
Got a beautiful first print of the Queen Mary ship. Got a gorgeous second print of flags (red/white/blue, and green) againt a clear blue sky, and the third print was very nice of a field of flowers near Mt Lassen (ironically the original proof print of this from 20 years ago was scanned onto my computer just today to get rid of paper prints...)
So, I've blown through the provided "trial" 5 sheets of paper and film cartridge, and have 3 very nice prints (with postcard address lines, stamp area and Canon logo on the back - the paper comes that way.) The ends of the paper remain white but have perforations about 1/2 inch from the end so you can remove them after printing.
I can't compare the printing software to any other brand, but setting up a plain photo-only print takes about 10 seconds of menu choices. If you want to add backgounds, titles/text, etc, that is available as well. (Got another pack of paper/film, and put humorous captions on kind of funny-bad office Christmas pix...)
Printing directly from my A95 takes about the same time as from the computer - about 1 min 45 sec.
The actual operation involves the paper being passed in and out of the printer 4 times (3 color passes and a protective layer) so it is important the back of the printer is not obstructed, particularly by the power cord which hangs down near the edge of the slot. The finished print is deposited on top of the paper cassette in front.
The unit looks and feels substantial for its small size, comes well packed (survived NY to CA shipping), has decent documentation, and a 1-year warranty.

Easy to use.......2006-11-19
I love this camera. I bought it for my trip to Paris. I found it very easy to use. One feature i didn't realize it had was video with sound. I found that very useful. I bought a 2GB memory card to go with the camera. The one it comes with doesn't hold that many pictures. The software was easy to install and use. Not really small enough for a pocket but still a great camera on a budget.
Some Important CONS you must be aware of.......2006-08-15
First off, let me make it clear that I am satisfied with this camera. I have had it for 8 months now and I have put it through its paces and its held up fine.
But there are few things you must know:
The camera has no zoom. I mean, practically no zoom. 2.2x may look decent but its pointless in any real-life situation. You WILL find yourself moving a lot with your camera to get a better shot, not standing in one place and using the zoom feature. You can never get a close wide shot - its just not possible with this camera. This camera is great for average stills but that's about it.
You have to click twice to take a picture or "press halfway and then fully" according to the manual. This is a major pain. Sometimes when the battery is weak, it may take a lot of time to take a picture (and a lot of frustration), so this is not a cam to capture any special pictures or "kodak moments".
Apart from these cons, the camera is great value for money and offers video and all kinds of stuff. If you're looking mostly looking to take landscape or portrait stills, this camera will do a good job!
Best camera for the price.......2006-01-07
I bought this camera six months ago for my 12 year old daughter. It was her (and ours) first digital camera. I read so many reviews prior to selecting this model. The reviews for this camera were so helpful. This camera has been so easy to use and it takes excellent pictures. Rechargeable batteries are definitely a must! This camera is the best camera for this price, no doubt about it. We have taken still shots and videos. It is so fun to have the option to take a video. We have some great clips. All I can say is we are so happy with the camera. We would definitely choose it again.
Good deal.......2005-12-21
Good camera for the $129 I paid. Does everything pretty well, and your picture modes are pretty customizable. Only qualm is it takes a second or two longer than I wish when the camera saves/loads pictures to the memory card. Might be a problem when trying to shoot consecutive pictures-- but probably wouldn't be doing it with this type of camera anyways.
Great camera - especially at this price.......2005-12-19
This is my 3rd digital camera and I bought this one to supplement my larger 10X zoom camera. This one fits nicely into a pocket or small camera bag to easily take it to all events or for travel. I've found that it takes nice photos indoors when the flash is used....Even when the cats or dogs I'm shooting are moving around. I've felt the life of a battery set is pretty good, but I've been using nice rechargeable ones. Definitely get a set of 4, then you have 2 to use and 2 as a backup set. The settings are pretty easy to figure out and change and 99% of my photos were taken on the "auto" setting and came out pretty good. As others have indicated, indoors - without flash - can produce blurry photos, but that's the nature of almost all cameras, not unique to this model. Glad I bought it and would highly recommend it.

Customer Reviews:
Low price for a reason.......2007-08-05
If you have a limited budget this is a good camera, the batteries run out fast and if you don't mind pressing the shutter button and the picture finally snaps which seems like 2 seconds later-this is for you. I thought this lag time wouldn't be a big deal until I used it, it became a huge annoyance and a big drawback for enjoying using this camera.
OK camera.......2007-07-07
The pictures it takes are fine; my main complaints are that this camera has a slow shutter speed, it takes a long time to reset itself when I'm trying to shoot a number of pictures at once AND this camera uses up a lot of battery power (especially when transferring over photos). I wish it came with a rechargeable battery instead of requiring AA batteries.
Not Great.......2007-05-19
A few years ago this camera was great. Now it is horrible. As with many older digital cameras shots in direct sunlight cannot be taken without significant washout of colors. Hence, this isn't a good camera for your trip to disney land.
Secondly, I discovered that this camera cannot take shots in less than bright shade, unfortunately I discovered this on a trip to Europe. Basically, it is impossible to take pictures in the Louvre or any other great site because the light levels are too low. Kodak didn't even design the camera to have manual picture taking, hence the camera cannot be "forced" to take pictures.
Lastly, after about 3 years of limited use, the camera went kaputs. I haven't contacted kodak about it yet but since a new one is only worth $79 I'm betting it would be more worth my while to buy a new camera.
Good camera.......2007-05-08
After more than a couple of years of use and a few drops and dings this camera still works and produces good quality pictures.
I had to replace the rechargeable NiCad battery pack a few months ago. I was expecting a little more mileage out of the batteries since I am very good are keeping the camera in the dock for recharging.
Camera is easy to use and with enough memory you can capture several short video clips. That feature is also easy to figure out. I have 512 MB of memory which allowed me at last count to store nearly 400 pictures and 2 video clips about 30 seconds long.
I wish I could say my next camera would be another Kodak, were is not for the fact I had a very dissapointing experience with the Printer Dock hardware and software.
On the plus side, this camera is detected properly on SuSE Linux Desktop 10 and works well with F-Spot and digiKam when connected through USB port.
Overall it is a good buy and you will not be dissapointed.
Great Camera.......2007-04-02
I love this camera! It is so easy to use and easy to learn the features of it.
