The NetVanta 4305 is an access router designed for cost-effective Internet access, corporate Frame Relay, point-to-point connectivity, and Virtual Private Networking (VPN) for large-bandwidth applications supporting up to eight T1s. Residing in a 1U high, 19" rackmountable metal enclosure, the NetVanta 4305 is a single platform that offers one Wide Module slot, two Network Interface Module (NIM) slots and dual 10/100Base-T Ethernet LAN ports for true LAN segmentation or DMZ applications.The single Wide Module slot within the NetVanta 4305 will house the Octal T1 Wide Module, while the NIM slots will support a variety of the NetVanta NIMs and DIMs: 56/64K, T1/FT1, T1/FT1 with DSX-1, Dual T1, E1/FE1, E1/FE1 with G.703, and Serial interfaces. For dial-backup an Analog Modem or ISDN BRI DIM are available for preventing downtime by dialing around a failed circuit to any PPP compliant device. Setting up the 1760 was easier than any other caller ID/tapeless answering device (TAD) we've reviewed. We just plugged in the AC adapter and the phone cord, pressed the Options buttons, and followed the on-screen menus. The clock was easy to set and the menus are so straightforward that we set up the home and local area codes for caller ID and got the TAD features working in less than five minutes.

The menus inform you, for example, that you can set the TAD to answer on one to seven rings or on two different toll-saver ringing options. We had to consult the manual only once, to verify that we had correctly reset the factory-prerecorded outgoing message.

In our tests, removing the AC power stopped the clock but did not erase our messages even after several hours; AT&T's Message Guard protects messages from power failures. The sound quality of our recorded messages was good but not perfect. All messages were clear but had "artifacts," apparently from data compression, just as we would expect for a TAD in this class. The 1760 can record up to 45 calls using data compression techniques.

If you want a simple answering device with caller ID/call waiting that offers the convenience of a tapeless design and easy setup, then we highly recommend the AT&T 1760.

Used for 5 years just having trouble now.......2005-12-12

After using this machine for about 5 years, I must say I am NOT disappointed. Yes, the display could be lit, but I have not had trouble seeing it. We get many calls each day and use the caller id to screen them, so messages are recorded frequently.

Just missed our first message this week. Display said message, we heard someone recording a message, went to retrieve it and although the display said "msg" and the light was on, nothing was there. Have only lost 1 message by deleting the call history before hearing the message. However, a simple call to that person solved the problem.

Now am worried that we will miss more messages. But,hey, it lasted this long for us. After reading other reviews, perhaps we were just lucky? Just not sure whether to replace with same one or go to different brand.

I was scared to order this answering machine because of the other reviews. After using the machine for a couple of weeks, I understand the problems, but do not find them to be of much concern. This machine is not as intuitive as some AT&T products I've used before, but unless you do something wrong, it is very dependable. I would echo the complaint that the LCD is not backlit, and as I said it is less than intuitive, but overall, it's a great deal.

I suffered with this machine for 30 days before returning it to the store. When you read the package it sounds like a great machine with many useful features. And it would be, if the features worked. The whole machine was unreliable - messages got cut off, sound quality was mixed, I had difficulty reading the display, and the controls were a bit too difficult to use.

I switched to a Casio and am much happier. That's after having owned AT&T answering machines for over 10 years. Please, learn from my mistake.

Not Worth It.......2000-05-03

I had an answering machine for years and decided to update to a newer model and bought this one because it was closest to the one Consumer Reports recommended - big mistake! Three months later it's broken and going thru AT&T's help line was a big pain. After going thru a bunch of prompts, a tape recording told me to "replace the batteries and the tape." This unit has neither one.

Set-up is very easy. The machine does not offer what the editorial review says it does in terms of number of messages and length of total messages. Sound is clear enough. In two months, it appears to be working well enough for just receiving calls and deleting them. ( )

Good design but durability lacks.......2007-04-03

Some of the reviews I read sounded like they were written by people who had little real wilderness experience. A compass like this one is exactly what Boy Scouts learn to navigate with. Contrary to one review, this compass does have a declination adjustment. It is a bottom plate with an alignment arrow that turns independent of the top. So, in my case, I set the alignment arrow so that it is +19 degrees off of of zero (N). Now all I have to do is align the magnetic needle with the off set arrow and the compass readings all read true. There are several types of compasses. This is what I call "Type A". A magnetic needle operates independently of the compass card. It is the most popular type. You should read a book or on line to figure out how to do a few simple things like orienting the compass and taking a bearing, and understanding declination. My only complaint on this compass is that after rattling around in my pack for a few years the letters and numbers on the base plate almost wore off. Perhaps you should purchase a case for your compass. I helped teach a mountaineering class yesterday and this is the type of compass is what everybody used. 4 teams bushwhacked through steep terrain following a compass heading for over a mile and all (independently) came out within 100 to 150 feet of their destination. Conclusion: this type compass is good for woods navigation, a site mirror or a lensatic type is not needed.
I gave it only 3 stars because there are so many brands that are similar I can't say it is better than average, except it looks pretty cool with the colored base, and is easy to read.

Confusing but it works........2007-02-18

I really thought that a compass would point at the letter representing the direction that I was facing. I was mistaken. It's a little more complicated than that. I called the company and a very nice guy named Mark carefully explained how to use this compass. It was not as I had imagined. But it does indeed work. Just yesterday I needed to find my way home from Long Beach. I remembered my tutoring from Mark and figured out which direction I needed to go. But I wish I had the simpler kind that just automatically points to the direction on the compass that I am headed in. Ignore this evaluation if you already know how to use a compass. The problem must surely exist between the hand and the user.

It works great and fits well under the camera body. It took few adjustments on to strap to get the right fit and feel, i would like it tight on my hand, but it would be hard to turn the camera sideway to take vertical shots.

Pro: You can still mount it on a tripod.

Cons: You have to loosen the screw and and turn it sideway in order to take the battery out.

Good buy. I am happy with it. The only thing is that it tends to want to loosen up a bit if it doesn't have my hand in it. So i find myself tightening it to my hand sometimes. But at least when your hand is in it i trust it to hold together. Other than that its just fine.

Very unconfortable.......2007-06-25

I photography wedding in my free time, and have been doing event photography for over a year. I bought this strap thinking it would be large, soft, and fit well; I was wrong. Small, cheaply made better describe it. The tripod mounting hole is off axis and it feels like it was designed for a 3 year olds hands. I carry my 20D with a flash bracket around for a 8 hour wedding and something of this poor support quality will just not do. Heres a tip, buy a foam grip and make sure its a large one, your hands will thank you.

super hand strap and a possible fix for strap length.......2007-06-19

I am happy with the Satechi Grip/Strap. I use it on my Nikon D80. The bottom plate fits well (once I reversed the side to which the strap was attached, a brief, easy task). I attached my large Bogen tripod adapter to the strap's base yet the whole is still thin enough to fit everywhere I place the camera.

Satechi had the strap in my hands before I expected it and shipping was reasonable.

The strap is padded just the right amount to be comfortable but not bulky. The strap itself could have been an inch longer (large hands). Dennis Weiskircher's review scared me (his strap worked its way loose) so I tucked a cut-off small nail through a loop in the strap at the buckle and touched it with a dab of Shoe Goo to keep it there (but still be removable).

It is a great strap and the price is just right.

Extremely Pleased With This Item.......2007-04-11

I received the product much sooner than expected, thanks to the extremely fast shipping. It looks great on my camera, a Nikon D70s, and fits my hand beautifully. The only drawback would be if you had extra large hands. If the strap is loosened too close to the end of the strap, it can work it's way loose, as I found out while wearing gloves. I didn't drop my camera, but it was close. This was remedied by tightening the strap another 1/4", and it's been great ever since. I give it my highest recommendation.
