The MasterSwitch Series provides solutions for a variety of applications in the technology industry. While every product in the series has the base functionality to allow for remote rebooting or power control of attached equipment, each product in the series provides added features targeted to specific markets and needs. APC's MasterSwitch is a power distribution unit (PDU) that allows users to control power to connected devices. The on/off/reboot capability of this unit is ideal for any situation where simply rebooting or power cycling is required of equipment or "locked-up" servers. MasterSwitch plus allows users to control power to individually connected devices and gracefully shutdown or reboot up to eight connected servers running different operating systems. Let's see, there are too many cool things about this display. It costs about the same as any of the other premium LCD panels at this size (you can get a cheaper one, but you usually give up contrast, viewing angle, or speed). You get a single cable attachment to your Power Mac (carries video, power, and USB) which saves a lot of clutter. You get a pair of USB ports on the monitor which most others don't offer, despite it's convenience. And it just looks too darn cool on the desk next to the Power Mac.

I just bought this flat-panel at the recently reduced price, and I'm totally happy with it. It's got a much smaller footprint than my old 17" monitor, it's bright, easy on the eyes, and a total breeze to set up.

I was a little leary of ordering such a "delicate" item online, but then realized Apple would have to ship it to me, just the same. It arrived fine, and without any dead pixels.

At the new, lower price, you really can't go wrong.

The best flat panel monitor........2002-09-22

Flat panel momitors have two major advantages: the entire surface of the display is usable (thus a 17" flat panel monitor gives as large a working surface as a 19" CRT monitor) and they don't take up a lot of desk space as CRT monitors do. But most flat panel monitors have the disadvantage that their image is not quite as sharp as the best CRT monitors. This Apple monitor gives you the best of both types. It has the size advantages typical of flat panel monitors and it has the crisp, sharp image quality of the best CRT monitors. Yes, it's more expensive than the average flat panel monitor; but if you want CRT image quality with the size advantages of a flat panel monitor this is the one to get.

I have one of these displays that I use at work, and think that it is the best thing since sliced bread! Apple has done an amazing job. The brightness and clarity are absolutely brilliant. I love that it has only the one cable, which carries power, video, and USB signal all in one. It makes for a nice clean work area, without all those ugly cords for power, video, and USB. But then again, that is no surprise, because you can tell that Apple truly cares about beauty, as well as performance. My hats off to Apple!!

I was initially unsettled about the thought of buying a flat panel display because of the nature of the color critical work I am required to do; especially after seeing other flat panels in action at CompUSA, Circuit City, ect. Also, a flat panel seems more of a luxury than a need to get work finished. But, post-purchase, I could not be more satisfied with this display. Now, when I use any CRT display, it appears fuzzy and out of focus. I love my new display and it is well worth the cost!

Does not work sufficiently with Mac OS X.......2003-10-15

I've had this printer for a year. I have both a Mac running OS X and a PC running Windows XP. This printer is flawless with Windows XP, but doesn't even work sufficiently with Mac OS X. If I attempt to print from Adobe on my Mac, the printer takes 30 minutes for a single page. If I try to print a web page it will take 15 minutes per page and sometimes print screen shots rather than the web page. The Mac works fine with other HP printers, but the 1200 SE is a complete bust. No matter what software or solutions I try, the HP 1200 SE will not work properly with the Mac running OS X. I'm very dissappointed with this product. HP promised a solution 12 months ago. Apparently, that was a lie by HP and now I have a printer that can't be returned. I will never buy another HP printer as a result of this experience.

Needs work.......2003-04-22

I recently purchased this printer after having problems with the samsung ML1450. I now realize that the Samsung was the superior product, doh.

Out of the box this printer has only 8MB of RAM, the Samsung only has 4MB, but guess which one chokes on large documents. When printing 20 page plus documents it would stop after printing a page. This was solved with a cheap 64MB memory upgrade, no problem.

Then there is the issue of the paper tray, it's way too small. It won't even hold one stack of new paper. I think this was a compromise on their part in an attempt to reduce the overall physical size of the printer. Sad part is, it doesn't make a bit of difference because the paper tray sticks out so far. You may save some vertical space, but horizontal space is bigger.

Also, the thing won't print manual duplex jobs correctly. This is one aspect where the HP and the Samsung fail miserably. Don't implement the feature in the driver if you can't get it to work right.

On a bright note, if you want something to print out nice looking text documents without any fancy features, this does a decent job. The problem is that there are printers that will do the same thing for a lot less.

Don't waste your money and go with something cheaper than HP.

Works great with Macs.......2003-04-21

I'm not sure why the "PC Hardware Fan" reviewer is writing about Mac compatibility with the HP 1200. He is way off the mark. We've been using the 1200's at our school for the last 18 months with great success. Macs running system 8.6 on up to OS X all have no problems. The printer drivers work just fine. The printers start up quickly, print high quality copies, and work great on our network with the optional network adapter. I'm considering buying one for home use, especially since new ones can be found for well under $... as HP closes out this model in preparation for its replacement, the 1300 series.

Best Printer Ever!!!.......2003-01-27

I've come a long way from the free printer that was given to me when I got my Compaq in the mid 90's. The HP 1200 is definitely one of the best printers I have ever seen and cheap to maintain since cartridges last forever (one and a half years so far). It is definitely worth buying and should last a long time.
I have a few complaints about it though:
1) It overheated after my first use (printed 50 pages at once)-But that's ok
2) It does curl pages a bit -That's ok too

Ultimately, this printer is a life-saver for people who have things to do or need that mid-term paper printed quickly. I saved all of 12th grade to buy a printer like this (and a computer) and it's worth it. Just look around for a good deal.

The Audiovox 1222CH 2-way radio is solid 2-way radio that won't set you back a month's pay. It also comes with a dual desktop charger and AC wall charger: an essential option for those who use their radios often. The radios have the key features you expect in a GMRS 2- way: a five mile range, hands free capability, twenty-two channels (each with thirty-eight privacy sub-channels), a detachable swivel carry clip, a backlit LCD screen, scan button, and full electronic channel and volume controls. You receive two radios so you and your communicating partner are ready to go. This package comes with eight AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries. If you run on normal alkaline batteries you can expect a run time of fourteen to thirty hours; these numbers are a little less with the NiMH. This is a simple, but useful 2-way radio package. Note: as with most five mile range GMRS radios, this one requires a FCC license.

These radios have excellent range, good battery life and included the charger. I paid over TWICE as much for just the radios themselves WITHOUT batteries or the charger at a retail store one year ago.

Fairly dissapointed on the quality of these radios.......2005-05-23

I bought these radios intending to use them only occasionally and in an urban setting. Here is how it went:
The units themselves are very nice looking and have many useful features such as voice activated transmission, a backlit display and roger beep tone. You get 8 rechargeable batteries and swivel-belt clips along with the radios themselves and the dual desk-top charger. The range is about 2 miles although the manufacturer claims 5 miles. But most companies make these claims based on the range you might get under absolutely perfect conditions.
I was very happy with these radios but after only 2 months of very light use one of the radios failed. One of the radios is stuck in "busy" mode and thus it is basically useless (these units are manufactured in China).
My experience with Audiovox in the past has been good so I thought I was just unlucky so I went ahead and bought the "Audiovox GMRS6000-2PK 6-Mile GMRS 2-Way Radio Twin Pack with Bonus Package" which I have also reviewed so head over to that review to read the conclusion of my ordeal.
