Great WAP for the price........2007-07-31
This was so easy to set up. I like the management software. I use MAC address filtering and it works great. I liked it so much I got one for my neighbor and would recommend it to others. I have used it with both cable and DSL. I have mine hooked up to a Cisco switch which is attached to a Trendnet router which is attached to my cable modem. I am very pleased with this product.
Broke within two weeks.......2005-12-11
It worked wonderfully for two weeks using it to browse the web and moderate downloading, but when I tried to transfer a 1GB file over my network, it developed a 23% packet loss that has persisted since. Presumably it overheated, but what a waste of $20 if I can't use my device without it breaking.

Works great out of the box. Problem is you can't configure it using the web based interface. You need the wizard...that's a problem the manual is worthless. Everyone withing a 500 radius of you will enjoy their "free connection and bandwidth" and that sucks.
Works great, but make sure what you need it for........2005-05-25
I was trying to use it as a range extender, but it seems to be uncompatible with my SMC7004AWBR router. I was able to set it up fast as an Access Point, it immeadiately signed me up and started to exchange packets, but I wasn't able to reach my router so I had to take it off the network.
I also tried to make it work with my xbox to put my console online but wasn't able to do so either. So, if you are trying to use it to turn a wired network into wireless this is it, this is what you need, otherwise I hope you can succeed in what I couldn't.

The guy who said "Not comaptible with dynamic IP address modems" is wrong. I spoke with a tech who told me that it will work fine as long as you disable the DHCP on it's setup page.

Worth the price twice over.......2007-09-16
After doing a lot of research on which scanner would be the best for our photo-archiving project, I settled on the 4990 because of the great feature set and the consistently high reviews. After playing with my machine for about a month now, I believe that not only is the 4990 a great tool on its own, but the software that accompanies it is, alone, well worth the price that I paid for both hardware and software. The only downside is that the edition of Photoshop Elements is 2.0 instead of one of the more recent releases. Still more than powerful and useful enough for the amateur photo-archivist.
excellent large format film scanner.......2007-09-14
I purchased the Epson 4990 after reading good comments about the quality of film scanning. My primary purpose was scanning 5x7 and 4x5 B+W film and it has been great. Very impressed with the dust remoavl feature and when unsharp mask is applied in photoshop the sharpness is great. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this scanner for medium to large format film scanning.
beware the blue haze!.......2007-06-20
Great scanner except for a haze which forms on bottom of scanner bed glass. It does effect scan quality but many might not notice either the haze or it's effects on the scan. Some may not experience this but many do. Can see the haze while looking at the glass from @45 degree angle with the scanner light on. If you see the haze you can investigate it's effects on imaging: scan empty surface with lid up at low resolution (60-120 dpi)--then view image, zooming in if need. Epson does honor the warranty on it, but if you're one like me who didn't use it much the 1st year then ...
What bugs me is that Epson doesn't seem to acknowledge this problem (which some say comes for gases released by scanner components).
Excellant Scanner.......2007-05-19
I have have had other scanners in the past, however this scanner is excellent. It is easy to use. You can scan 35mm slides, negatives from 35mm to 4x5's. You can also scan text or almost anything and get great results.The price is good. In all the reviews that I read before buying this scanner are accurate. It is a good scanner and when one compares a more expensive scanner (side by side) with the Epson 4990 there is no difference that anyone can really notice at all.

The best binoculars I've ever used........2007-09-27
A friend of mine showed me his 8X25 Canon IS binoculars and I was extremely impressed with how well I could see with them. So I ordered the 10X30 and have found them to be oustanding. Being an eyeglass wearer it's always been difficult to find any binocs that would work for me. The canon is the first pair that allows me to see clearly and the IS is a real plus as it holds stable anything you're looking at. They're the best by far!!!
Great Binoculars.......2007-08-18
I have owned a pair of these for six years now and have had them work flawlessly for me. I work on tug boats and use them to see the names on ships day/night, as well as other navigational markers. Because of the vibration in the tug boat, ordinary binoculars are tricky at best. Every person who looks through them instantly wants a pair.
I found that focusing while holding the stabilization button down at the same time feels natural. Compared to other binoculars of any price they measure up in clarity.
The only reason I gave them a four star is that I wish they had come with lens caps. And that a HARD case was at least an option.

I couldn't be more pleased with this pair of binoculars. The stabilizer button works really well and even when not depressed the binoculars are never shakey like others we have tried. At dusk (and night) the objects you are viewing actually appear brighter than the available light. Focusing is easy and quick. I definitely recommend this pair - now my husband wants a pair like mine!

The good:
. The IS works amazingly well.
. The The battery life is good. Pair of alkaline batteries outlived 4 days of yellowstone national park(probably >10 hrs total?).
. The visibility is sharp, crisp and bright. (daylight)
. 30 mm is optimum. Never felt light deprived.
. Animal and bird watching (300 to 400 feet max?)
. The build quality feels good.
The bad:
. I would have liked some more magnification. maybe 20x ,but then its not the fault of the binoculars.
. If you want to see celestial bodies then this is not for you. No astronomy. You will see moon and its craters clearly and thats about it. I would have loved to see a bigger moon, but then its just a 10x.
. Pricey. You will feel the pain. But after using it for a while you will know its worth it.If I had the money I would go with canon 18 X 50 IS. Go for extended warranty IS might give future problems.
