With its stylish curved aluminum extruded case, available in either black or white finish, the Contour is a handsome addition to any installation. Seven veneer finishes for the front cover of the screen case create a warm and elegant look or choose the optional speaker system, unique to the Contour, that flank the ends of the case. Perfect for bedroom use!.......2004-07-28

As the name suggests, this phone is perfect for bedroom use; we purchased it when we bought our home 5 years ago and have been very pleased. The phone's sleek white design with the light gray face fits in easily with almost any bedroom decor. The phone itself provides clear service with little static and includes a handy volume control.

With respect to the clock functions, this product couldn't be easier to use. The clock numbers are large, lighted, and easily readible. Setting the clock is simple, as the buttons go both forward and back (no more scrolling through 24 hours if you miss the time!). The clock comes with two separate alarms (great for couples or for doing a separate weekday/weekend alarm) which are set the same way as the clock. However, the clock and alarm settings are completely separate, so there's no risk of accidentally changing the wrong one. For the alarm, you have the option of a non-obnoxious, non-shrieking repeating beep tone or waking up to the radio (I should note that the FM radio reception is sometimes difficult to tune in). There is also a snooze feature. The function buttons are small, and I've occasionally hit the radio button in the morning by accident when trying to turn off the alarm, but this is rare.

Overall, this is a great product to fill two needs at once (or three, if you use the radio), and I highly recommend it.

Was OK for a while.......2003-08-18

While initially happy with this product, after about 18 months, the illuminated display became dim, making it very hard to see at night (which was the point of buying this). The LCD worked OK. Warranty is only for a year, so I'm out of luck. When I find something else with similar capabilities, I'll be buying that and putting this in my growing collection of old phones.

Not a reliable alarm clock.......2003-07-11

I agree with the other reviewer who said the time "gets stuck". In one night, the clock became 45 mintues slow, causing me to wake up too late to catch my train. The time was accurate when I went to bed 7 hours earlier. While it is stuck, I noticed the colon in the time display blinks extremely slowly, and none of the buttons would respond. That is, I could not set an alarm, view the calls on the ID, or fix the time. I had to unplug it and quickly plug it back in to get it "unstuck". This has happened to me on several occasions while I've owned this phone this past year, but never has it caused me to be this late before. I'm going to write to GE to see if I can get some compensation.

I also agree about the flashing caller ID light. It is very bright. I saw the reflection of it on my ceiling, and I kept trying to close my blinds. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from! It was so annoying!

As a phone with caller ID, it works just as it should. Just don't count on this to wake you up or display accurate time.

could be better.......2003-03-01

I've had this phone/clock for about a year. While I like the compact design, the actual performance left something to be desired. The clock sometimes "gets stuck" after the alarm goes off and then the clock time is off by several minutes. I had to double check the time every night before I went to bed to make sure the time was correct. The display is too bright for a night stand, even on the low light setting. The caller id indicator flashes if you don't review the new calls. It is very annoying to have a light flashing when you are tryijng to go to sleep. I had to put tape over it... Last but not least, the alarm sound was not pleasant to wake up to. I bought a new cd/clock radio that I am very happy with and I am going to get simple phone with no flahing lights. I would not recommend this product if you like to sleep in a dark room.

GE Model 29292.......2003-01-21

There's really only one problem with this phone but it is a big one. When you set the alarm time it is very easy to mess up the current time. Every other time I set up a new alarm time the current time messes up and the alarm ends up going off an hour early or an hour later than I expect it to (this occurs despite the fact that I am aware of the problem and very careful when I set the times). The phone does have 2 alarms and if you are going to set the alarms once and then never adjust them it would be a fine phone. For me, this is not the case and I am in the proceess of finding a replacement for it.

This phone has it all........2002-09-07

I purchased this telephone because I wanted a caller id phone with a backlit display. This phone has this option and much more. The clock/caller id display is large. One has the option of turning the backlit display (the actual lighting up) on or off. The contrast can be easily adjusted. It's not a difficult phone to set up. The caller id displays the name above the time and the phone number below the time. The date the caller called is diplayed to the right of the time. There is a flashing light for new calls. If you want to call someone on your caller id list you bring up the number from the review option and press the "dial" button.

The time display is easy to read and the current date displays always to the right of the time. It has the dual alarm feature.

The handset has an adjustable volume control. The ringer also has high/low/off options.

The alarm has a music or buzzer option. The music option is very amusing. Neither option is irritating.

I would recommend this phone to not only those who want an alarm clock/phone but also to those who want a nice caller id phone (the clock is a nice extra)!
