Customer Reviews:
This is a piece of junk!.......2006-12-08
The second time I used it, two different pieces of the battery section, including the cover, broke: the metal sprial thing for one end of the battery just fell out when I opened the battery section; and the cover prong just broke off. Man, what a waste of $[...] plus dollars, and what a dissapointment.
I bought it to look at birds. Well, unless the bird is five feet in front of you, you can forget about it.
one flaw.......2006-07-25
I used the image view to take 17 really good pictures. However, holding the binoculars in my hand as I walked to the beach, somewhere along the way the on/off switch simply fell out! I returned it for full credit but I would rather have had another pair. They were not in stock.
Cash for Trash.......2005-05-26
The optics used in these binoculars are semi-sharp in the middle and blurry around the edges, the quality of the images lack contrast and the life of the camera can be measured in weeks. Avoid Bushnell products in general. The optical quality has been horrible in every pair of binocs I've ever purchased (though I did like one of their easy focusing systems). On one pair, the images didn't even line up and it's not worth the postage to have them returned.
Great Fun, Great Pix, some limitations.......2005-04-27
I was SURE I "invented" Bushnell ImageView in my mind (but didn't have the foresight to go patent the idea, alas!) Every time I'd look in my birding binox, I would think, DARN! Why can't I snap that picture RIGHT NOW? Well, Bushnell, who is the maker of my birding binoculars, certainly was channeling my thoughts, and they came out with the ImageView, which is a pair of 8X30 binoculars with a built-in digital camera. So, how does it work and will this hybrid binox-camera combo work for you? Let's discuss...
1. Specs and Features
Bushnell 8x30 binoculars
Built-in 1.3MP digital camera
8MB internal memory
Hi-res (default mode) stores about 45 pix, low-res maybe 55-85 pix
AVI movie mode
Photo Suite 5 software
USB cable
neck strap and case strap
soft case with zipper and pocket inside
Requires 2 AAA batteries
Computer with USB port that can support USB devices like camera; XP is recommended but you can use other Windows that support USB. You may require internet access to download different drivers to download your pictures to your computer if you don't have XP.
2. Using the ImageView
The out-of-box experience with the ImageView is excellent; all the user has to do (assuming he or she has an XP operating system on their PC) is to do the following:
a. Open box
b. pop open the battery port
c. Install the 2 triple-A batteries.
d. Hold down the MODE button (one of two on the top of the center-mounted camera module)
e. Snap a shot
f. plug in the USB cable
g. Put the cable on the computer and download the pictures.
DONE....easy as pie.
3. Quality, Usability and Pros & Cons
The binoculars are clear and free of most distortion. But..here's the rub; if your eyes are very close-set (mine are) you will NOT, repeat NOT be able to use the CaptureView. I have extremely deepset and close-set eyes and normally, on binoculars, I move the eyepieces in to the most narrow setting possible. On the ImageView, due to the camera taking up space in the middle of the two scope sections, the narrowest setting is not narrow enough to suit my eyes. Boo. In fact, Boo HOO! I was quite dismayed. The man of the house tried them. He too has close-set eyes but a far bigger head (hahah!) than mine and he put the ImageView down to the narrowest setting. He can see fine out of the binox. Lucky guy, he just got a pair of binox AND a digicam. I can barely see out of them if I hold it JUST so. So if you are a small woman or a narrow-headed kind of person like me, you must try these before buying or plan to possibly have to return them. And if you intended this for your child or grandchild, it probably won't work. So beware. This is a serious issue with the ImageView--I am sure there were arguments about the average distance between pupils on people's eyes, and they hit the sweet spot of the happy average, but I was NOT happy to find out I'm not able to use them. *IMPORTANT* TRY BEFORE YOU BUY or check out the return policy.
The camera is 1.3MP. This is NOT a high res, but it keeps the price down to something reasonable and not outrageously expensive per pair. This is because 1.3MP cameras are not state of the art any more and are being used for toys, phones and other "and it has a camera, too!" electronics. In other words, if you expect high-quality pictures you can enlarge greatly, this isn't for you. BUT...the opticals are good enough to get a reasonably nice picture from the camera, one that is bright and clear enough for most amateur work. For blowing up a picture of a rare warbler hiding in a pine tree? No. For sporting events? Yes. As to the low resolution setting (which Bushnell wisely decided NOT to make default), you can use it to get many more shots, but you won't be happy with the quality. I found I needed to stick with the high resolution to get a good picture I could use.
The focus for the camera is MANUAL. It's a knob on the top of the camera mount and easy to use but in this day of autofocus, it will fox a few point-and-shoot folks. Just focus as you home in on your subject in the binox and all is well.
AND there is NO flash. But these aren't night binox and you won't need one anyway. But be aware, low light is not the time to be using the ImageView.
The movie feature allows you to take a short movie clip. I love this! Soccer moms, take note; you can get a short (30-70 second) clip of your home-grown athlete when you are sitting cheering in the stands. But the 8MB memory onboard means that you will max out the storage and will have to download that AVI to a waiting laptop or computer. I have done digital photography in Asia back in the days of low memory storage by keeping a laptop near me for downloading shots and then clearing the storage on the camera. With the arrival of larger memory cards for newer digicams, I don't have to do this anymore, but if taking small shots and many of them is your thing, and you like the CaptureView, you will want to think about taking a laptop with you to do this.
The case is well-thought-out and good quality. Easy to access the binoculars, and sturdy enough to keep it clean. It's soft-sided, though. Not a hardshell. The straps are flimsy--this is not surprising, so if you don't like the strap, buy one of your own. I found it adequate, however. And it fits into the case when on the binoculars.
Summary
The ImageView is a reasonably priced pair of binoculars with the added kick of a great little camera. It's something you can keep in your briefcase or handbag for snagging fun shots of sports events or nature scenes. Or just for fun around town. The quality is what you'd expect from a 1.3MP camera, and there are some limitations, like limited picture storage (8MB) and the width of the oculars is liable to be TOO NARROW for kids and some smaller women and men. So try before you buy.
Don't Buy This.......2004-12-10
I bought this as a gift for a friend. It worked great the first time he used it. The second time it started malfunctioning a little. The third time he couldn't even get it to turn on (and yes, he made sure it wasn't a battery issue).
I think it's a great concept but it needs a lot of work.
I'm going to send it back to Bushnell and see if they will let me exchange it for a good pair of regular binoculars.
I don't suggest buying it until they have an opportunity to take care of all the problems.

Customer Reviews:
Won't stand the test of Time........2007-07-31
I purchased my Brother MFC 3420c 3 years ago. First let me say that I'm not a heavy user I run about 5000 pages through the machine per year and for the first year or 2 ; I was pleased with its ease of setup and its functions. Initially I had very few problems not with standing the occasional pager jam. . After this initial break in period my 3420C found it way to the shop, fortunately Brother had extended the warranty for the parts that were broken until the 3420C hit its 3 year. When Error 41 appeared on the screen (unplug and call Brother). From my understanding from the repair shop, Error 41 means the printer head needs to be replaced, which now is NOT under warranty. Labor $60.00, part $69.00 plus tax. I suspect some will feel 3 years for a reality inexpensive multifunction machine is okay but not me I expected to get a lot more use from this machine. I didn't purchase another Brother to replace it.
An ink sucking piece of junk.......2007-07-25
This printer uses more ink cleaning itself... at all hours of day and night ... than I use printing documents. If one cartridge goes empty, the machine shuts down and won't do ANYTHING! Won't even SCAN!
Had an error code xxxx??? that required a factory phone call. Ended up driving forty miles each way to a hole-in-the-wall "dealer" who had stacks of them in his "showroom" waiting for new print-heads. Had to go back in a week to pick it up. Right.... 40 miles each way.
By the way, the Smart UI OCR is almost impossible to disable and it takes a lifetime to load into background on each startup. Ditto for the image manipulator, which is otherwise pretty handy.
I figure it will be cheaper to junk this thing and buy a new HP or something ....right....LASER !!!!...
I don't care how much the machine costs, I'll never have another ink-jet or Brother.
It's a piece of junk.......2007-07-07
paper jams every min, error 41 everytime, must be unplugged, eats lots of ink, i print about 50 pages and need new expensive ink. It's not worth a penny/ Had it replaced 2 times and serviced twice, but still garbage.
Don't expect it to last.......2007-03-07
Brother has a serious defect in their print heads. Bought this printer, fed it a lot of ink (for not very much printing - not sure where its going). After barely 3 years, get Error 41 - which means the print head is dieing. Google the problem - its happening all over. Print quality, particularly copy quality was great. But expect it to eat a lot of ink even if not getting used and be prepared to scrap the thing in a couple of years - factor that into whatever price you pay.
Huge disappointment.......2006-09-05
I own(ed) this printer, and have had problems from the beginning. I wish that I had taken it back right after I brought it home. The paper jams regularly. It sucks up ink, which is very very expensive to replace. It beeps around giving me commands to open and close the cover for no apparent reason. Most recently, it gave me the fatal error 41. Other than the fact that I just replenished it's ink supply, I am more than happy to replace it. My advice...don't buy Brother.

Customer Reviews:
Do NOT Purchase!!.......2005-05-06
Pros: Good scanner---no problems with at least that function!!
Cons: DO NOT PURCHASE! Poor graphics--poor ink use--NOT user friendly--and requires service within 2 years!
My parents purchased me and my brothers each one of the MFC 3420C Inkjet Multifunction Printers---what a waste of time and money!
First off--the self cleaning function literally drains your ink supply. The print quality is less than standard, and you need to keep the manual at the ready because you're going to need it! Then in at LEAST a year---be prepared for a trip to the shop! We own 3 of these---and all THREE DIED WITHIN FIVE MONTHS OF EACH OTHER!! Mine was the last to go...I did what it said and after alot of frustration now have a large paperweight!! Best printer I ever owned was an HP Photosmart. Going to get another asap---right after we three contact Brother about a few problems!
Good at First, BROTHER Customer Service Disappointment.......2004-12-31
I was initially very pleased with the machine. It was easy to set-up, hook-up, and start using. A little on the noisey side, but still more quiet than a lot of other machines I used. Doing double-sided output was tedious, and it had some trouble handling cheaper grades of paper, but I was more pleased with it than my friends who bought comparable HP, Epson, Cannon, and Lexmark machines. I especially liked the four individual ink cartridges, and it appeared to be more economical than single or dual cartridge machines. Then an original misfed and jammed the document feeder, and I almost destroyed the paper trying to free it. The machine wouldn't reset, and I had to call Brother customer service. They had no record of the warranty registration, I faxed on the first day I had it. After over an hour of repeating all the trouble shooting steps that I had already gone through, they agreed to replace it for me, but were having trouble entering my information into their computer. At the end, I was assured that I would have a newly refurbished replacement in two business days, and given an activity number. At the end of the third day, I called again, and they could find no record of the activity number, nor any of my previous information. So I had to go through the process again. It will be nine days from failure to replacement, and then they tried to tell me that I have to postpone a trip in order to be present to receive the replacement and immediately send back the defective machine, or they will charge me full retail price for the replacement. Needless to say, I will certainly think twice before I buy another Brother.
Product Description
For nearly 20 years the Canon Persoal Copier series has been serving Home and Small Business users with the need for a simple copier that requires virtually no maintenance - and is affordable. The PC150 is an example of this situation. While multifunction inkjet printers or fax machines may have copy modes, nothing comes close to the sharpness and detail of the Canon personal copier.

canon pc150 copier.......2007-06-15
had one already wanted another for a different site no longer available at staples where I purchased first one found on line it was still cheaper than original one even after shipping charge
coper that doesn't copy.......2007-05-24
This copier showed a lot of promise when I ordered it. When it arrived, I was impressed by its small, efficient looking, size and was very eager to test it. Unfortunately, I received an error message that paper was stuck before it accepted any paper. Upon opening the cartridge chamber, I discovered a small plastic piece that was dislodged. I placed it in its container. The error message went off and I again attempted to test it. The piece dislodged again and the cycle was repeated. So, the copy machine, purchased new, may be a good one for my purposes, but I won't find that out till I repair it, since the seller ignores everything.
Misleading advertisement.......2007-04-11
This copier DOES NOT weigh 2 pounds! Its about 20 pounds! I ordered and expected a light weight product - it is large and heavy. It is good as far as a well priced, personal copier, but I wanted one based on a mobile need, and this is NOT it!!!
Great Pick Up.......2007-04-11
Copier works great as a mobile copier or even at home if you don't make many copies. You would not want to use it as an everyday copier because the toner costs more than the copier.
great copier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2007-03-28
Got this copier for the in-laws to copier medical bills for medicare. They hate computers. So spending a 1000 dollars on system they won't use didn't make sense. It's simple to use and have only the basic functions. The ink cartidge is good for 2000 pages which will last longer than my in-laws will live. The cartidge cost almost as much as the copier itself.
All in all a good basic copier for people who are computer haters.
