Do not buy this printer!!!! This printer will not accept ANY generic ink, it will only accept ORIGINAL EPSON INK. This refers to the Model Epson Stylus Photo R260 made after May of 2007. How low can a company go by doing this? Oh i forgot, it's Epson. I have researched this & thousands have had the same complaint. This printer eats up ink like crazy also!! Any chance it gets to clean it self, initialize etc it will do & in doing so it eats up the ink like crazy. When i purchased this brand new printer (approx 2 weeks ago) i installed all new FULL ink cartridges (not the free ones you get in the box) & the ink is already gone, i have not printed any big projects or such, just regular use & this is how i am repaid for putting faith in Epson. NEVER will i buy ANYTHING Epson again & i will make sure i tell the world about this through my 20 year entertainment magazine. In the past Epson has had law suits for scamming customers & have lost their court cases due to ink scams & such & you would think they would learn. Epson is the worst company i have EVER had the displeasure of dealing with. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER OR ANY OTHER EPSON PRODUCTS!!!!!!! If you do, then don't say i didn't tell you so.

A great printer and easy to fix errors/clogs.......2007-08-23

I have owned the Epson R300 and the R320. I have printed large volumes with both of them over the past few years ranging from basic home office docs to photographs. They are very well made, and worth every penny.

For those who complain about all of the ink usage and clogging: It is a PHOTOGRAPHIC printer. It uses very very tiny micro head technology and lays down a lot of ink to give that beautiful flawless photographic finish. And yes, the heads clog ESPECIALLY if you don't use the printer often. Keep this in mind when changing cartridges...you want to do it quickly so that the heads are exposed to air as briefly as possible.

Clogged Print Heads: (always run a nozzle check before starting a print job, especially if it's been a while since you've printed. It saves a lot of ink/paper and frustration).
Here are my tried and true methods of cleaning the print heads. If it's really bad (even after running the cleaning cycle), then turn it off then on, and pull the plug when the head moves over. Now you can slide it freely. Move it out of the way and lay a double layer of paper towel under the spot where the head sits when you change the ink cartridges. Move the head back over the paper towel into the ink changing station. Open the lid and remove the ink cartridges and look inside. The little prongs are what need careful cleaning. Heat up a little glass cleaner in the micro, and spray it gently and slowly over each head with a syringe.

Each cleaning cycle uses the INK to clean the heads. This does 2 things:
-it uses a lot of expensive ink
-it flows down into the waste ink pads, which will eventually give you an error message.

There are fixes for both of these problems:
I have been using a CIS (Continuous Ink System) from a company called InkJetFly (.com) for over a year. The setup was about $50, and is easy to install. The refill cartridges cost $5 each and hold FIVE times what a normal ink cartridge holds. INCREDIBLE photographic results with no clogging. I love it!

The waste ink pads are also an easy fix. Check out Ebay for a waste ink container for your model. They are a cheap and easy to install. There is a trap door on the back of your printer, and the waste ink pad is right inside (white when new, black when you've done a lot of printing/cleaning). The tube that dumps the ink is right under it. You just hook an extension tube up to the waste ink tube and it dumps it into a bottle. Done.

Last but not least: If you get a General Error, then another ink pad might be full. Look inside your printer lid. See the foam track that runs under the print head? On the FAR LEFT there is a little square of foam that gets soaked with ink when the head moves over it at the end of every printed row. Take it out gently and rinse and dry it thorougly. Put it back in and turn the printer off. Now press the stop, maintenance and Power buttons all at once until a message pops up that the error is cleared. IF THE INK PAD IS STILL WET, the error WON'T clear!

Hope this helps. I have learned all of these 'tricks' from trial and error, and it has saved me a lot of money and frustration.

After 2 months, I have to agree with the naysayers.......2007-07-02

At first this bugger printed great. I was happy. I bought six new cartridges for it around May 5th, 2007. I printed 6 CD/DVD's and maybe 10-15 pages (usually on economy or draft settings to save ink) and then it sat from about May 10th until about June 12th. When I tried to use it, The status monitor reported all cartridges approximately 2/3 full. When I tried to print, I got tons of drop outs in the printing so I tried cleaning the cartridges. The first cleaning helped a tiny bit, so I cleaned them again. Well, after about 6 cleanings it was beginning to look much better and I thought I was ready to go...but wait...it then reported that I was completely out of ink on ALL cartridges ???!! What the ???? That's right, I went from 2/3 full to empty after 6 head cleanings. Kinda expensive wouldn't ya say Epson? I'm taking the cartridges back to see if I can exchange them...this seems like a scam to me.

Great when it works..........2007-05-01

It is great when the heads are not clogged, but heads clog all the time and to clean them takes 2 sets of ink cartridges, even with an aftermarket solvent. It used ink so fast, it is cheaper to just buy a new one. I wish I had instead of all the money on ink.

There are MUCH better choices.......2007-01-20

This printer was a gift(and I am grateful for the thoughtfulness), but darn it, if you're looking for a great deal, this one isn't it.
1. every time it prints, it cleans the printer heads, wasting ink.
2. it goes through ink quickly and you can't just keep on printing if one it out. Nope, it has to be replaced.
3. You can't op NOT to print in color on the printers menu.
4. Replacing 6 cartridges costs more that the printer did.

I wasn't very impressed with the quality of the images it produced. I still love my Deskjet, and we've been using that instead.

The one thing I do like about it, is that it feeds small items better.

For the most part the ink cartriges are of good quality. Out of 2 batches from this company I have only had one leak which is not good. Luckily I caught it in time before it had a chance to damage my printer. I would certainly be very careful especially if you have a high end printer. Other than that if you are looking for a cheaper alternative feel comfortable about these products.

Well worth the price.......2007-04-16

The order was processed quickly and the product performs as expected. The cartridges differed slightly from the original Epson ones but they fit. You get a message on the printer warning that it is NOT a genuine Epson cartridge but go ahead and complete the installation. The printer will show a new full tank for all the replaced cartridges when done. I've printed about 5 5x7 prints so far and all came out with no noticeable difference from original Epson cartridges. Of course, the test will be how long these last, but for the price that's less then a third, it's a good bargain.

I have not yet tried to use these inks printing high quality photos on glossy paper, but for everything else these have worked just as well as the expensive "official" inks from Epson. It even looks great on printable DVDs.

Ink seems fine and fits perfectly in our printer, an Epson Stylus Photo R340. The only drawback is the printer asks you if you want to proceed, as it is not Epson ink. For what you save, it is worth pressing the button and moving on.

Im more than happy with my purchase. I mainly only print web pages and the occasional picture so I really dont want to spend $100's on replacement ink for my Epson printer. I was relieved to find generic ink for a fraction of the cost of the Epson premium ink. The cartridges installed easily and was recognized by my printer. The quality is fine for me, my only issue is on every printed page I get an ink smudge on the lower right hand corner of the page. I tried cleaning the printer heads but to no avail. I dont recall that happening with my last cartridges but its a minor issue and may correct itself in time. Other than that im veryy happy with my purchase and the seller Abacus24-7 couldnt have been any better.

Printer ink clogs.......2007-09-07

This ink clogged my new Epson printer, to the point where I had to clean the print heads between 6-10 times every time I wanted to print. It wouldn't even print 3 continuous pages before clogging up again. (It was not a printer problem, Epson ink unclogged the heads, and it works great now.) In addition, I contacted the seller about the issue, and got no response.

Want to like these cartridges, but not sure about the ink quality.......2007-09-14

The good: the colors seem to closely match genuine Epson ink colors, the ink dries quickly, and the photos look terrific. This bundle includes five complete sets of six cartridges, for less than the price of one complete set of genuine Epson cartridges.

The bad: There have been several instances of clogged nozzles recently, and I don't know whether they're due to the ink in these cartridges or to something else. The printer's 3 years old, and before starting to use these cartridges, there were only a couple of instances of clogging, and those were in just one cartridge at a time, and easily cleaned. For the past year, I've been using a different brand of 3rd-party cartridges, and there was no more clogging with them than with original Epson cartridges.

On the other hand, the printer isn't being used as much as before, so maybe some of the printheads just dried out, and would have done the same with genuine Epson. No easy way to tell, and the printer had not been powered off when not in use.

If the clogging is NOT related to the ink in these cartridges, then they should get a five-star rating. The vendor shipped quickly and the price is great.

HEAD-CLEANING: the printer's "Clean" utility didn't accomplish much, except to use up almost half the ink in all of the cartridges ("only" three printheads were clogged). After some web searches, I sprayed some Windex onto the protective foam pads that lie below the cartridges when the carriage is in the "home" position, then turned the printer power off (with its own power switch) for about an hour. When "off", the printheads press against the pads to protect them from drying out, and in this case, the Windex is supposed to soften the dried ink. After turning the printer back on, I ran the "Clean" utility again, then did another nozzle check. That did the trick, and the heads no longer were clogged. For the past two weeks, I've been keeping the printer powered off when not in use, and there have been no further instances of clogged heads.

Note: one dealer website specifically warns against using Windex, and recommends the special cleaning fluid he sells. Most websites just recommend using Windex.

Works fine.......2007-07-19

I ordered this ink for my Epson Stylus Photo R320. I just couldn't resist the price--about 1/10th of the OEM cartridge! This cartridge looks a little different but it snapped into the ink slot just fine, and seems to be working fine so far. The print is maybe just a teensy bit fuzzier than with the OEM cartridge, but when I'm printing plain black text it's really for my own unfancy home use so it doesn't matter to me. I probably wouldn't order this ink if I were printing business materials, but it works fine for casual home use.
