It did work for awhile. Now it doesn't even power on.
I expect a product less than 3 years old to last quite
a bit onger before it completely dies. Into the trash it
goes. I'm not going to waste my time trying to fix it.

Does anyone know what company made "Go Video."?

I'm sure the pice of junk came from China or somewhere

Very poor product.......2007-07-22

I'm looking for a new unit because this Go Video product is worthless. Even if you try tech support you are not going to get any response. All the functions relating to programming a recording on the VCR side do not work. I don't even bother with the DVD recording side. As as simple player it is ok. But, who knows, tomorrow that function may disappear. I don't recommend buying any Go Video product

Go Video Does to Better.......2007-04-20

This is just a great piece of equipment. I currently own (2) VR2940 and looking at purchasing the third unit. It does a fantastic job recording the home movies to DVD and makes a great play back unit. I don't understand some of the previous reviews. You must be able to read the manual and follow directions. The manual is very detailed so normal adults will have an easy time understanding its functionality. You can not just start pressing buttons and expect the equipment to work. Lets face it, it is not brain surgery. It's a VRC comb unit. Buy it, look at the manual, you will love it. The best part is the cover you print for the DVD case, now this is the fantastic part.

Go Video Combo Unit.......2007-01-16

I am sorry so many of you have had problems with your go video recorders. I have a couple vr5940s and have had very little trouble with them. I bought one from Sharper Image, and bought the extended warranty. I had to return the first unit, but the second one has been fine. I also bought one at Cosco on sale. Most DVDs I've used are major brands, and they record fine. I have made 4 hour recordings sucessfully. I have copied many VCR tapes. Some old tapes have dirtied my vcr section heads, but a head cleaner has fixed the problem. Rarely have I come across a DVD that won't read. Once in a while it occurs. I try it in my Sony player or my computer to see if it's a bad disc. So, I am surprised to see so many failures of the 2940. Maybe the 5940 is a better machine. I have 3 or 4 of the earlier VCR to VCR Go Video recorders, and they have always worked fine. So I am amazed at so many failures. I did have a DVD that would not read or eject, and I did have to unplug it to shut it off. And when I plugged it back in I could eject the disk. So I guess I have been very lucky. Truly a piece of junk!.......2006-12-30

I had miltple problems with this one, almost from the day I bought it! The YES video quit working within the first week. I was not able to get any help from customer service so I decided to deal with that and just make dvd's without using the YES video feature. In addition to that after finalizing the dvd's I did make...there were compatability issues with other players as well as the Go-Video player itself. I can honestly say I have never owned any player or recorder that is as unreliable as this one. To top it off the last dvd I made is locked in the recorder and the record light is still on...even if you turn it off and back on again the record light does not go off and I am unable to retrieve my dvd.

Want to like these cartridges, but not sure about the ink quality.......2007-09-14

The good: the colors seem to closely match genuine Epson ink colors, the ink dries quickly, and the photos look terrific. This bundle includes five complete sets of six cartridges, for less than the price of one complete set of genuine Epson cartridges.

The bad: There have been several instances of clogged nozzles recently, and I don't know whether they're due to the ink in these cartridges or to something else. The printer's 3 years old, and before starting to use these cartridges, there were only a couple of instances of clogging, and those were in just one cartridge at a time, and easily cleaned. For the past year, I've been using a different brand of 3rd-party cartridges, and there was no more clogging with them than with original Epson cartridges.

On the other hand, the printer isn't being used as much as before, so maybe some of the printheads just dried out, and would have done the same with genuine Epson. No easy way to tell, and the printer had not been powered off when not in use.

If the clogging is NOT related to the ink in these cartridges, then they should get a five-star rating. The vendor shipped quickly and the price is great.

HEAD-CLEANING: the printer's "Clean" utility didn't accomplish much, except to use up almost half the ink in all of the cartridges ("only" three printheads were clogged). After some web searches, I sprayed some Windex onto the protective foam pads that lie below the cartridges when the carriage is in the "home" position, then turned the printer power off (with its own power switch) for about an hour. When "off", the printheads press against the pads to protect them from drying out, and in this case, the Windex is supposed to soften the dried ink. After turning the printer back on, I ran the "Clean" utility again, then did another nozzle check. That did the trick, and the heads no longer were clogged. For the past two weeks, I've been keeping the printer powered off when not in use, and there have been no further instances of clogged heads.

Note: one dealer website specifically warns against using Windex, and recommends the special cleaning fluid he sells. Most websites just recommend using Windex.

Pleasantly Suprised With The Quality & Features.......2006-04-14

Having owned and been very satisfied with a Siemens cordless phone system in Europe, I was dissapointed to see that Siemens appear to be withdrawing from the market in the US. I required a 5.8GHz system, and therefore Siemens was not an option.

I looked at most of the brands on the market including Motorola (large chunky phones), Uniden, Panasonic (both seemingly having poor build quality), VTech and AT&T.

I settled on the AT&T E5640 with two additional handsets and even though I have only had the system a few weeks, I am very pleased with the build quality and functionality of the phones, as well as the price. It is a modern design, smaller form phone with no exposed aerials, which I always fear, can easily be broken off.

We all know that products are built much more cheaply today and build quality is frequently an issue, but the phone has a good weight and feel to it, is formed well and the buttons feel as if they will not fail after only a few presses.

Incidentally, VTech now manufacture AT&T phones, but the quality of the AT&T models still seems to surpass that of the VTech models I viewed.

Having looked long and hard, and held many display model phones, I can say you will not be dissapointed choosing this feature rich, well built and good value for money system.

weak phone/answerer.......2006-01-16

We purchased this phone/answerer and an expansion handset and returned them because it did not work well and we were disappointed. The answering machine sounded very poor with a tinny sound that distorted the voices. The speaker on the base is small and the voices sound un-natural. Our recorded outgoing announcement sounded weak and cheap. The phone had an echo periodically which the callers on the other end of the line did not hear but was annoying to us using the phone. The only positive was the speaker phone on the handset which did sound good. I would not recommend this phone/answerer to anyone.

For a small business, this not your phone to use. The ring types are aweful!!! Too loud and piercing for an office. When you are on line 1, you must hang up the phone to pick up line 2. Who does that nowadays! My old corded 2-line phone is better than this!! At least, the voice mail works!

Uneducated consumer.......2006-02-05

I wish I had done my research on this phone and read all these reviews. We bought the phone about 8 months ago. Within 6 weeks, we had static on the line almost every time we used the phone. Sometimes the static begins immediately and other times you have a 10 minute grace period to talk before it begins. Also, this static often occurs when people are leaving messages on the answering machine. This causes us to lose half the message as it is not understandable. This phone SUCKS. Do NOT buy it!

Great phone..great quality.......2006-01-13

I have owned the AT&T2462 for over three years and have been very impressed with all of the features. I expanded the system to three handsets. Clarity and range have been very good. I have not had any problems with answering machine as reported in several of the other reviews. I have dropped the handsets many times on tile surfaces and they have never stopped working nor has the quality degraded. Conference call and the ability to drop either party is plus. I would recommend for any home or home office.

Poor Quality.......2005-12-31

It sounded great but after few days of usage, I hate it.
1. the number pad buttons on the base are hard to push.
2. receiver on the base comes off hook too easily.
3. often there are statics and echos while speaking.
4. battery on the cordless handset doesn't last very long. A day if I use it total of an hour talk time. 2 or 3 if I don't use it at all.
5. speaker functions well most of the time. But it sometimes gives echos to the person on the other end.

Answering machine not functional.......2005-08-09

I bought this phone even after reading all the reviews about the bad answering system. I should have paid attention. I have had this phone for less than six months (but more than the 90 days to return it). The answering system simply doesn't work. It doesn't even play all of my message, much less take any messages. I believe that this model is being phased out, but considering that AT&T has been so unhelpful, I certainly wouldn't buy the newer model. Other things are a bit "off" too, but they might be overlooked if the answering system worked.
