Amazon.com Product Description

GoVideo's DVR4200 brings the convenience of VHS recording with the simplicity and quality of DVD, from front-panel AV inputs to high-resolution component-video outputs and even MP3-CD playback. The DVR4200 allows you to conveniently record TV programs while watching a DVD or listening to a CD. If it's the DVD you want to record, the unit offers one-touch copy. The hi-fi VCR's four-head design gives the player superior slow motion and stop-action control, while Complete Program Record actually adjusts the VCR's speed to make sure it records programmed recordings in their entirety. Its component-video output is ideal for use with the latest high-resolution televisions, and standard composite-video and S-video outputs work with most older TVs.

The DVR4200 is compatible with standard CDs, audio CD-Rs and CD-RWs, and discs encoded with MP3 audio files. Using its coaxial digital-audio output, Dolby Digital 5.1-channel signals are rerouted to a Dolby-decoding AV receiver to enjoy stunning surround sound from movies. When used with a compatible receiver and a six-channel speaker system (left, center, right, left/right surround, and subwoofer), the player puts you in the middle of the action. The unit's Virtual 3D surround sound can also simulate surround effects through an existing pair of speakers.

The DVD player offers standard composite-video outputs (two), S-video (one), and premium component-video outputs (one set, three RCA jacks). The VCR section offers two sets of composite-video inputs, one composite-video output, and one RF (cable-type) input and output. For audio, two sets of stereo, analog-audio RCA outputs are for the DVD player (one of which doubles as a VCR output), while the VCR accepts two stereo analog-audio inputs. A coaxial digital-audio output routes DVD audio signals to an AV receiver. A convenient child lock protects the front panel from fingers, toast, and other nonmedia, while the included remote control operates both the DVD and VCR features. Auto clock set and channel search simplify VCR setup (no more flashing 12:00!). The DVR4200 comes with two AAA batteries, a user's manual, and a stereo analog-audio interconnect.

1 out of 5 stars Do NOT buy a Go Video.......2007-06-05

At first I thought I had a winner, but guess what happened; I copied about 150 DVDs (legally). They played beautifully when I first made them. I put them in cases, set them in a room out of the sun, happy that I had a great DVD library. My mistake, I just tried to play one and it rejected the CD. So, I tried several more. None of the DVDs I made work. It isn't the machine, it plays professional DVDs, but not all of them. Sometimes I have to go to my other DVD in another room and play the DVD there.

I have no idea what the problem is, but it may be cheap materials used to make the recording, and these materials fade quickly.

The people at go video make it almost impossible to talk to them, and there is NO customer support, at all. Don't think those of us who are trying to warn you just got a "lemon". That isn't the case. Purchasing a Go Video is a huge mistake. Don't do it.

This vcr/dvd player is the only one that has lasted this long. I have 4 boys under 10 and they are a little rough on things. Ours finally died when three dvd's were put in at once. This is after several "repairs" by mom. It has been great and put up with loads of abuse. We tried two other players and neither would work with our television. So we are going to order this same exact one. Why mess with what works! I am just really impressed with this player. Also, when our remote was lost, we contacted the company to get a new one and they were very promt in getting back to us on how to re-order it. I would definatly recomend this player. It's easy to set up and work, works with older t.v.'s, put's up with ton's of abuse and can be easily connected to a sound system.

1 out of 5 stars Junk.......2005-01-26

My wife bought this for me a couple of years ago. The first one failed as a DVD player basically out of the box and the store replaced it. The 2nd unit took somewhat longer to fail. Shipped it off to Go-Video and they "repaired" it. It worked for a brief period before it quit. I gave up and quit even trying to use it as anything more than a VCR.

5 out of 5 stars GoVideo DVD/VCR player.......2003-12-06

We have had this player for a year now, and are very satisfied with it's performance. it's is VERY easy to use and we especially like the "lock" feature to keep the kids from messing with it.

I'd buy another one as a gift.

2 out of 5 stars No go video.......2003-08-28

I just recently bought this DVD/VCR player. It was very easy to set up and play, but right from the get-go I noticed that the dvd picture looked a bit stretched(elongated). I'm a huge fan of widescreen dvds and didn't like the look of the picture. The reason I noticed it was that I also have a SONY dvd player and compared the pictures. The bars of the GV player are thinner than the bars of the SONY showing that the picture is indeed elongated. The picture and people just looked more natural with the SONY player, but those without comparison might not notice the difference. It depends on what you are used to.

Also another thing I REALLY, REALLY don't like about the machine is the remote control. The search and skip button are the exact same button!! So if I want to fast forward/scan a little bit I accidentally skip to the next scene instead. It's very frustrating.

And for those that are planning to record DVDs to VHS, don't hold your breath. You can only record DVDs that don't have Macrovision(some type of anti-recording protection) and most original DVDs will have it. I've also tried a CD-R and it didn't recognize it even though GV says it will play CD-Rs.

I have no complaints about the VCR. It works great.

Basically, you get what you pay for. This is a low price machine and you can't expect it to be exceptional. If you just want to watch a movie and don't care about the look or anything else and want to save space, go ahead and buy it. Otherwise, I would recommend just buying separate players.

p.s. I am not endorsing the SONY player. DO NOT buy SONY DVD players. They have different sets of problems all their own plus a court case against them. Check the web for those reviews
if you don't believe me. Just don't do it.

5 out of 5 stars Remarkably Good System for the Price.......2007-09-04

When they first came out, audio magazines compared the Ensemble speakers from Kloss to systems costing over $1,500. (And that was the stereo version of Ensemble II, not the 5.1 surround version that includes extra satellites and a center speaker). Simply put, it's an excellent sounding system with deep (but not boomy fake) lows and excellent highs that never sound shrill. String instruments and orchestras sound great on these. The subwoofer has what it takes to make home theatre exciting (or make the canons really roar in the 1812 overture). They're among the best you can find at this price point.

        2 out of 5 stars Not a good camera for a child.......2000-12-09

I bought this camera for my 7 year old and was really disapppoined with it. It was really light plastic and seemed like it could get broken quickly. The piece that holds the batteries in the bottom comes completely off and was rather hard to replace after loading them, also it could be easily lost. You also need to manually advance the film after each picture and the winder is not at the top of the camera so that is also hard to do. I would not recommend this camera for kids.

2 out of 5 stars Overpriced for an e-book with major flaws.......2006-04-02

This book is full of a lot of really good information. It is actually more like a digital photography encyclopedia. It is both a primer on digital photography and on processing digital images. I really like it except for these significant flaws:

            1. The images used for the examples in Photoshop are not available for download. I've bought many books on Photoshop, but they have always included image files, either by download or on a CD, so you could work through the examples.

            2. The information appears in a 600x800 resolution window. There's no way to resize it, making it difficult to read on a high resolution monitor.

            3. Although Photoshop Elements 4.0 has been out for a while, this product only goes as far as version 3.

            4. Fifty bucks, I think, is way high for an e-book.

As a source of good information on digital imaging and processing, this product is top notch. If they were to lower the price to $30, provide support for higher resolution monitors, update it to the current Photoshop software, and include images for the tutorials, I would give it a 5 star rating without hesitation. Until that happens, it only deserves 2 stars.

              5 out of 5 stars Works with Linux...simple fix.......2004-01-03

I'd been using one of these for two years on a laptop with Win2K, and was perfectly happy with it; over Christmas I installed Red Hat 9, which did not recognize it. Poking with google, I found that all I had to do was to add four lines to the file /etc/pcmcia/config.opts, namely an empty line followed by

              card "Belkin-5020"
              version "Belkin", "F5D5020-PCMCIA-Network-Card"
              bind "pcnet_cs"

(The second and third lines should be indented by two spaces each.) It now seems as trouble-free on Linux as on Win2K.

4 out of 5 stars Not very friendly to Linux.......2003-10-05

Although this card works very well with Windows products, getting it to work with Linux is not for the beginning or even intermediate user. It is a complicated and tricky process.

Of course, with plug and play, installing the cards is just a matter of plugging them in and letting the installation wizard guide you through a few clicks, but as always with Networks, the two computers, running two different operating systems, have to be configured before they can talk to one another. And while the documentation of the PCI card was totally useless in that regard, I found the documentation of the Belkin F5D5020 very well designed, informative and most useful. A good read through it later, my two computers were sharing files and printers, and I was happy I'd bought the right product.

              Amazon.com Review

Clear away some clutter on your desk or nightstand with the all-in-one clock, radio, telephone, and caller-ID system from AT&T. You can wake up to music, news, or a forceful alarm and place nighttime calls with the lighted handset.

Setting up the 360 was easy--we just plugged in the AC adapter and telephone cord. The backlit LCD display prompted us to set the clock, which we were able to do without the manual. We did glance at the manual before entering the caller ID settings, but the instructions were straightforward.

Programming the memory dialing was almost intuitive. The process was a slight variation of AT&T's usual method of pressing the Prog button, dialing the number, pressing the Mem button, and then pressing one of the buttons to store the number. This time we had to press Prog again instead of the Mem button.

Setting the clock-radio alarm was a little unusual. On the LCD screen, the radio is called Alarm A, and the buzzer is called Alarm B. (Why not Radio and Buzzer?) In our test, the telephone sounded clear and bright; the lighted handset worked on ordinary line voltage, requiring neither the AC adapter nor the battery; and even without the 9-volt battery, all settings were preserved without AC power for a few minutes. The caller-ID/call-waiting feature includes a bright indicator to let you know you have new caller ID entries in the history list or that a new call is coming in (if you're already on the phone).

Phone receiver volume and clarity was poor. Display screen died after 1 year.

1 out of 5 stars Good Idea, bad product.......2003-01-06

I purchased this item about 18 months ago and I'm not particularly satisfied with it. It's a great idea - a phone and clock radio all in one - a great space saver. Unfortunately, this is not the model to buy. The display screen is at a difficult angle to see unless you raise your head. The controls are not particularly intuitive to use. The worst aspect of the unit, however, is the volume control. It is very imprecise and the volume can't be set low enough without cutting out completely. Don't waste your money....

1 out of 5 stars Very poor design.......2001-12-05

Buttons too small, difficult to set, poor sound quality, not user friendly.

1 out of 5 stars Radio & display died after only 18 months.......2001-06-05

I have not liked this unit since I bought it 18 months ago. The programming is not intuitive at all. Secondly, the snooze and alarm buttons are difficult to find if the unit is on the left side of the bed. Also, by the size of the display you'd think it would be easy to read. However I cannot see it from my bed--a foot away--let alone across the room. A black display with lighted letters/numerals would be better. Then yesterday I unplugged the phone as instructed to replace the 9V backup battery. When I plugged it back in, the light came on but there is no display. The radio won't work and neither will the alarm. All I have left is a phone. I bought this unit for the combination of features/price but I guess you get what you pay for!

1 out of 5 stars Why Would Anyone Buy This?.......2000-02-20

Based upon other customers reviews, I bought this product because I wanted a digital radio that would reliably wake me up in the morning. The radio quality is the only redeeming feature I can see in this product. It is worthless as a clock - the face is angled so one must be above it and within 2 feet to read the pale display of the time. The illuminated display area is too bright making sleep all but impossible while the readout is practically invisible. Contrary to the advice of AT&T tech support, the alarm MUST be activited each night even when the word ALARM remains in the display area. The volume control is poor, but that seems the least of this products problems. Too much technology and too little common sense!
