If i breathe it skips, and i cannot even get a hold of Gpx to complain. It does not move from song to song easily, causing me to "play" with it to much even in the car. The price is nice, but i would never buy another GPX item again!!!

Powerful amp & eq, best sound.......2001-07-27

For amptone.com/audio, I've been comparing and collecting portable CD players, MiniDisc players, and cassette players, together with portable headphones and studio headphones.

I'm an EQ fanatic, and this player confirmed why. With any earbuds or headphones, especially good ones, you can dial in better sound with the help of an EQ.

The EQ sliders are always right there within reach. The EQ is paired with a strong amplifier. The documentation has no specs, surprisingly, but my guess is that this has at least a 15 mW per channel capacity, if not more. Some MiniDisc players put out as little as 5 mW per channel.

With this player and decent headphones or Sony's new $10 silver earbuds, you can dial in better sound than with players that only have bass boost. My Rio Volt MP3 CD player has EQ, but the EQ is removed as you turn the volume up to above 30 out of 40, and the EQ starts becoming very unpredictable and uncontrollable, as well as difficult to navigate to. This GPX C3935, however, offers immediate access to the Bass Boost switch, an instant-response traditional potentiometer, and direct access to the 3 EQ sliders (100 Hz, 1KHz, 10KHz) -- with no overintelligent compression or other funny business to reduce bass when you turn the volume up.

This CD player gives you more flexible and direct control over the sound shaping than players that lack EQ or have overly fancy programmable EQ. For example, when listening to a custom mix CD-R, each song may call for a slight adjustment of EQ, and this player makes such adjustments easy.

With my $100 JVC headphones, I'm in awe at the great, controllable results using nothing more than this CD player and the headphones. In some ways, the player looks cheap, but it also looks cool with the EQ and the spinning CD visible -- and its great sound more than compensates.

The EQ controls are small and recessed -- a little delicate to operate, but mostly immune to accidental adjustment inside a backpack.

It only claims 10 seconds of anti-skip buffering; however, the anti-roll feature seems effective and I can move the player vigorously without skipping.

This player doesn't have Resume, but it has the other standard features such as program play, repeat, and random.

The EQ even allows getting fair sound out of the included headphones. The included headphones are light gray - cheap looking.

The cassette adapter worked great, with high fidelity, in my home mini-stereo, but my stock car deck ejected it. I'll have to just use regular or custom CD-Rs in the car deck, rather than using this cassette adapter to feed a MiniDisc or MP3 source.

Soundwise, this player runs circles around the $160 Rio Volt, and I expect to listen to this GPX more often than the Rio Volt, at least until I receive a Red Sound Micro Amp battery-powered amp with treble and bass controls.

Also, because this is a wonderfully straightforward traditional CD player, it does not insert an audible gap between two standard audio tracks that run together on an album -- unlike the Rio Volt when playing a standard audio CD.

I love this player like I loved my cassette player with 4-band EQ before it was stolen. I'm continuing research on all portable players that have separate bass and treble, or ideally, 3+ band EQ with physical sliders.

It is nice that this unit comes with an AC-to-DC adapter and a car cigarette power adapter -- these extras helped me decide to buy this player.

This player was a "score" and confirms I'm on the right track, searching for portable players with custom EQ such as separately adjustable treble and bass, at least.

For example, the new Sony 900 MiniDisc portable recorder can produce much better sound with various headphones than its siblings, because it has separately controllable bass and treble -- however, it takes too many button-presses and 2-second wait periods to change those settings.

I was recently looking to buy a cheap new portable cd player. After listining to the obvious brands(Sony, Panasonic ext.) But after listing to everyone under ($0.00) I came to the conclusion that this it the best cd player for its price.

Cambridge Sound Works - Listen before you buy..........2005-12-10

I spent a lot of time researching these speakers (MC50 & MC100) to create a 6.1 surround system. I bought six speakers direct from the manufacturer for $305 shipped. I was disappointed first off by the cheap quality and weight of the smaller satellites. The larger ones had a nicer look and feel but were much more money, $79 versus $55. Another thing I noticed right away was the sticker "made in china', ugh. I decided to give them a chance anyway. Mind you I was going from Polk Audio LS50s to these small satellites. The sound for playing music was awful, no feeling to it whatsoever. I hoped that it would at least give me some decent sound for movies but I never gave it a second chance. I ended up purchasing separate components from Polk Audio (6751 satellites and 6752 center channel). Wow, now that is the sound I was looking for. I did spend an additional $75 but am now pleased to no end.

Buyer beware, sample them for yourself before you purchase these speakers online.

Great Surround Speakers.......2005-04-16

I was looking for some small wall-mountable speakers to use in my 6.1 setup and did not want to spend the money for Bose. These speakers sound great, especially for their small size. They seem perfectly capable of handling high volumes levels without much distortion. Also, Cambridge has the best warranty out there. Very pleased.

great sound in a small package.......2003-12-11

i just bought a pair of these to complete my digital home theater, and they're great! they produce great sound. i even have a lot of power pumping through them and it doesn't phase 'em. if you're looking for some really great surround, or even center or front, speakers and you don't want to spend that much cash, get these. you don't have to buy expensive bose speakers to have a great home theater. these are well worth the money.

These are phenomenal speakers. Maybe the best I've heard. Impressive by itself, but I'm blown away by how they sound when you have 3 play in unison. This audiophile will definitely consider more Cambridge Soundworks product.

Blown away by performance.......2002-11-08

This speaker is ultra-compact, but it sure does offer big performance. I used the keyhole slots on the back to mount them in my family room wall, and you'd never even realize they were there. Friends and family are blown away by the performance.

Good space saver, but lacks features.......2002-04-15

I bought this cartridge for two reasons: it's convienence and because it is a sheet-fed scanner. The printer/scanner combonation saves a lot of space on your desk. Switching the ink cartridge with the IS-22 cartridge is very simple & easy. However, I had trouble installing the software driver and then got a error telling me that this driver didn't support the hardware! All this was easily fixed by downloading the newest driver from Canon's website. I have not had any problems since installing the updated driver.

I also wanted a sheet-fed scanner so that I could image a multi-page document easily. That is, I wanted to be able to put in, say, a 15 page document, hit scan, and have all 15 pages scanned automatically (as opposed to having to scan each page individually, as with all flatbed scanners). Alas, this will allow you to scan and save only one page at a time. This is a pity since this is the strength that sheet-fed scanners have over flatbeds. So, if you do not have much space on your desk and you need a scan just an occasional few pages, this will be a great option for you! A flatbed will generally give you better quality images, but takes up lots of space. If you're doing lots of pages at once, then seek out another scanner.

A great idea that needs tweaking.......2001-02-01

The ability to use an optional scanner cartridge with you printer is a wonderful idea. Number one, it saves a lot of deskspace. Second, it is cheaper than most flat bed scanners. And you get technical support from the same company, if needed.

You won't get high quality scans with this product though. There are noticeable vertical or horizontal lines that show up in the scanned image (depending whether you were scanning portrait or landscape) even when scanned in the highest possible resolution. Most of the lines can be retouched with good photo editing software like Photoshop 4.0 or above, but are still noticeable after printing.

In conclusion; buy this for the convenience and space saving benefits. If you are planning on getting proffesional results, use a flatbed scanner. If you're just scanning snapshots to send via email to relatives and friends, than this is probably the most economical choice for you.

Worst backpack ever.......2004-09-06

I bought one of these for use at school. I used it to carry my laptop, a Dell Inspiron 8000, and some books around campus. The thing started falling apart within two days. The fabric around the pockets, inside near the main ziper, and the lining of the padded laptop case were the first to go. I brought it back and exchanged it for a new one, but a few days later that one started falling apart too. This was the poorest quality product I have ever bought. Belkin should stick to hardware and periferals.

Exactly what I needed and at the right price. Was shipped and arrived much sooner than I anticipated.

Generic battery.......2004-06-15

The battery won't fully charge even after following the manufacturer's battery recalibration guidelines on their website (Battery Technology). Only four out of the five LED lights on the side of the battery indicate that its roughly 80% charged (88% according to the power meter in Windows). It still lasts around 2 to 3 hours using typical office apps which for me is acceptable.
