Compact surge protector provides AC and telephone surge protection for notebook PC
Customer Reviews:
Works Well.......2007-05-13
I bought this surge protector because I bought a similar surge protector for my previous laptop and it worked well. The Pro has a better connected equipment warranty, which I think is worth paying a little bit more for.
The only downside is that Dell changed the shape and design of the power brick on their new laptops, so this surge protector does not strap on to the power brick as nicely as the old surge protector I have attaches to the power brick for my old laptop, but that's not APC's fault.
A Winner One.......2007-01-20
For those of you concerned about your laptop power protection, this is the right product, lightweight and backed up APC warranty.
APC notebook power surge.......2006-11-03
This surge protector is really small and handy. . . it even fits the casing for the power supply in my notebook bag. i take it with me everywhere i go and it has worked well for me. it has given me a sense of security that my vaio is protected for electrical surges at all times.
Notebook Protection is a must have!.......2006-08-20
Having endured a recent lengthy notebook repair for my daughter I began looking for phoneline and power protection. She was home for the summer and plugged into a bedroom phone line and the storm did the rest. This product is a MUST have for the mobile notebook user. It is easy to insert into your notebook power adapter and it protects the phone modem also(after 3 good storms no problems). The price makes it even more attractive. Notebook owners should GET ONE!

Out of date product.......2007-02-12
I had this surger protector for 10 years.
It does give me a piece of mind when I use my Laptop.
However, this protector is out of date with only 120 Joules of Surge Energy rating.
I recently replaced this protector with Belkin, with equal size but has 850 Joules of Surge Rating. 10 years ago I would give this a 4 stars. Today (Feb 2, 2007), 1 star-->it is an out of date product.

it works but is bulkier.......2004-04-29
Bought one few months back...n i guess it is a gud investment for costly equipments...as other reviewers pointed out...it is quite bulky....the prongs always stick out,i am not able to carry it around in my laptop bag.....moreover for those of u, who travel a lot....NOTE: this things works only at 120V that means it will simply blow out when u will use it in countries which have higher voltage ratings.....APC do have other products which work at higher ratings too
Very nice though a little bulky in size.......2001-04-07
The notebook surge arrest protector is obviously useful because it protects your expensive laptop from electrical damage. This protector allows for one laptop plug and also one phone connection for the modem. It is also very light weight which is important in laptop devices. My only complaint is that it is a little bulkier in size than I would like. The prongs that connect into the wall socket is on the backside of what you see in the picture and stick out straight which adds to its bulkiness. I feel like I have to make more space than I would like in my laptop case for this. I wish they would have made the prongs like the way Kodak does for their battery chargers where the prongs fold in when unused.
Very Satisfied APC Customer.......2000-03-17
This is perfect for anyone who travels with a laptop. It's small and fits nicely next to the ac adapter in my laptop case. It protects my laptop from surges through the AC outlet and phone jacks. I have been pleased with APC products for about six years. They provide excellent customer support. I highly recommend their products.

Product stopped working.......2006-04-26
I have had this product for several years but it stopped allowing current flowing to my laptop. Avoid it like the plague!!
Don't buy it for the damaged equipment warrantee.......2004-08-27
I don't own this specific APC product, but I do own other APC products.
My home was hit by lightning on July 2, 2004 during a severe lightning storm. Both of my garage door openers were destroyed during the strike and they were on separate NET3 power line surge protectors made by APC.
NET3 surge protectors offer the best ($50,000) damaged equipment warranty that APC offers. APC refuses to pay for replacement garage door openers since in their determination, the surge protectors are functioning properly (I had to send the surge protectors at my expense for analysis at their labs).
I will never contend that a surge protector can protect any device from a direct lightning strike, but the APC warranty contends that they will replace your equipment in the event this unfortunate event occurs.
I now do not recommend APC equipment, since their warranty is worthless.

Great unless you have DSL............2006-06-12
We bought this system for our small office and loved it for about a year until we got DSL and then the entire system went haywire. Apparently, the system uses the same frequency as DSL and you have to order a special splitter and have your phone company install it for you to correct the problem. Well I spent 2 hours on the phone with At&t arguing with them before they would even agree to send me a splitter and then an hour on the phone with Bellsouth explaining what I needed them to do. Repairman came out, crawled the house, etc and apparently it's not going to work any way we do it. So we wasted our money on this system and now have to replace it. So be careful...
Great Phone.......2005-02-14
I bought this phone mainly because I wanted a model that had numerous speed-dialing buttons and a decent speakerphone. Thus far, I am very pleased with the model. The 945 is a 4-line phone designed for office use, but it works great as a home phone. It has 16 speed dial buttons located on the right side of the phone. This makes it a snap to call family and friends by just pushing two buttons - one for speakerphone and one for the number. The speakerphone seems to work well and I also like the green backlit lcd display, which generally looks cool but also makes the phone easy to use in the dark. It also displays the date, time, number dialed, and phone call length, useful for keeping track of how long an interesting (or not) conversation has been going on for. Phone preferences can be set by an easy to use on-screen menu system and there are also a bunch of ring tones to choose from, which I appreciate because I have chosen a lower frequency tone that is so much more pleasant than the typical high-pitched annoying telephone ring my last phone had. Be aware, though, that Caller ID isn't supported on this phone.

Product Description
Extremely compact, the 410 offers geared movement in three directions, pan, tilt and side to side tilt. A unique feature is the ability to disengage the gear movements temporarily to rapidly set the camera in the general position required and then engage the geared movements for fine adjustment. Final adjustment is also made by simply rotating the control knobs. The head incorporates a quick-release camera plate system and is suitable for 35mm SLR and medium format cameras. 3/8" screw camera attachment included.
Customer Reviews:
Great tool for PST.......2007-09-27
I purchased this tripod head to use with my PST solar telescope. I found this a big improvement over the Manfroto pan head that I previously purchased for this application. It makes aiming at the sun for visual or photographic purposes quick and precise. This would be a great choice for any target that is stationary or moves slowly and predictably.
Precise control for panorama shots.......2007-02-21
I bought the Manfrotto Compact Geared Head to help in leveling my camera for shooting 360 stitched panorama shots. It works well. These shots require a perfectly level setup, which is aided by the bubble level that is part of the head. Adjustments are a pleasure as you can "dial in" the exact setting, without having to worry about locking mechanisms. I use the quick release because I often shoot the same setup once with a digital camera and again with a film camera. I gave it 4 stars because of the quick release, which is not intuitive. More than once I have come away with a bloody knuckle. Still, there is no satisfaction like knowing you have the best tool for the job, and the Manfrotto Compact Geared Head is it.
The Perfect Tripod Head.......2007-02-21
I knew what I wanted, so I went looking through all tripod heads I could find. The Bogen - Manfrotto 3275 / 410 Compact Geared Head fit my needs perfectly. The quick release made attaching and detaching a snap. The adjustment knobs worked very intuitively. Gross movements with a quick twist of one of three release levers. Very fine tuned adjustments with one of three knobs positioned next to the levers. And a bubble level. And black. And very sturdy. And machined well. And there's a matching black Bogen - Manfrotto tripod available for under $200 to go with it. Perfect, and I don't often say that.
Does all I wanted it to do, is solid with precise, no hassle adjustments.......2006-11-21
A couple of weeks ago I was trying to compose a shot using a run of the mill tripod with friction locked adjustments for side to side and vertical positioning. I was using a Canon 70-200 f2.8 with a 2x multiplier and a Rebel XTi. The object was small and rectangular and I wanted the sides and top of the photo to exactly align with the sides, top and bottom. Every attempt to rotate the lense in it's collar, or use the tripod's elevation clamp to set the top and bottom of the object resulted in overshoots or undershoots. Finally I gave up in frustration.
I envisioned some WWII artilleryman madly cranking his gun into position using hand wheels for traverse and elevation. That's what I need! Without knowing what to call it, I began looking for a photographic equivalent. Eventually, I found the Bogen-Manfrotto Geared Head and ordered one. It arrived just hours ago and I couldn't be happier! I took that 400mm shot without any trouble composing it. No more pushing, loosening, tightening, cussing. It's pure pleasure, especially if you've gotten as frustrated as I have with friction adjusted tripods. I don't know why anybody would buy a ball head for a tripod when they can buy this instead.
So, how does it work? The Bogen-Manfrotto 3275/410 mounts to the tripod plate using a standard 3/8 threaded hole. Once screwed down on the tripod mounting plate, the gear release knobs just behind the fine adjustment knobs allow large adjustments of side to side, up and down, and tilt. The fine adjustment knobs are sensitive enough to easily position the image in the frame without frustrating twisting and pushing of the tripod, lens or camera. Once in position, everything is so tight and solid that you can click the shutter button without a remote release and the picture still comes out great!
The quick release mounting plate is a little tricky. It has a lever with a button. To release the plate, pull the lever to the side, then push the button to let the lever go to the end of its full travel. The lever will lock into position and the plate will lift right off. When you go to remount the plate, just push down. It trips the lock on the release lever and it snaps into the the clamped position.
The mounting plate comes with both 1/4 and 3/8 studs to use either for the lens/camera or more equipment. A plastic/rubber insert prevents the studs from falling out, but allows the user to remove the stud they don't want to use. The studs have a slot large enough for a large coin or deadbolt house key, but are also knurled. I found finger tight was good enough for my initial trials.
So, there you have it. I'm grinning from ear to ear. AND, it was dirt cheap compared to some ball heads I've seen. You could buy this gear head, wear it out, and buy another for the price of some ball heads, and never have to deal with friction clamps ever again.
Why not 5 stars instead of 4? The gear release knobs have strong springs, and on my tripod head, one of them managed to catch my finger between it and the tripod head. This means I have a clearance problem between the lower gear knobs and my tripod head which limits the rotation to 350 degrees or so without tilting the head forward a little. If the base of the Bogen-Manfrotto 3275/410 were a 1/2 inch taller, I wouldn't have the clearance issue. The finish on the underside of the mounting plate looks a little crude, and gears need grease, I guess, and it gets on your hands. I would have given it four and a half stars, but Amazon's select list only allows 4 or 5, not something in between.
But it works like a champ! Buy it! Just keep a rag handy for wiping your hands.
Stout and Precise.......2004-12-07
Large and sturdy, but consequently heavy. May make your tripod too long for its case. Great for exact framing of stationary subjects. Is quickly adjustable once you learn which knob to turn. Use this and your long telephoto will never flop over and whack into a tripod leg again.

The JVC HR-S3900 offers high-resolution recordings with Super VHS and 19 Micron Heads. "ET" mode lets you make S-VHS recordings with economical VHS tape. Easy operation is assured with Plug n' Play setup. VCR Plus offers simple timer recording. A/V Compu Link provides one-touch operation with matching JVC components.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent Picture, Provided You Use S-VHS Tapes.......2001-12-27
Just got one for Christmas. I like it. Picture quality in EP mode, using S-VHS tape, is better than SP mode in regular VHS machines using regular tape. That means you can get 6 hours of very good resolution on a single tape, making it very good for timer recordings. S-VHS in SP mode is near DVD quality, if source is, for example, a DVD. But you only get two hours in SP mode.
My only gripe is that the much touted S-VHS-ET is a joke. With regular tape, I get better quality using the regular VHS setting . In fact, the picture is quite good in regular VHS mode, though nowhere near S-VHS quality. So just plan on investing in S-VHS tape (about $5, nowadays) if you want to get a genuine improvement over regular VHS. And it really is an improvement.
good value if you know how S-Video works.......2001-11-19
Great playback and better than average recording if you know how to set-up the unit. Read the manual!... is important to know that the SVHS benefit only comes from recording(s) in SVHS if you are using a S-Video CABLE AND a S-Video output SIGNAL like another VCR w/SVHS, a camcorder w/ S-Video, or cable box w/ S-Video. NOTE: the signal from the outputting device to the SVHS VCR must remain S-Video -- no where can the signal be converted to `Composite video' [RCA style jack] or the "Super" quality will be lost.
Well worth the (dollar amount).......2001-11-13
I've had excellent results from the s3900 over the year or so I've had it. I bought the unit to dub what I'd shot using my Panasonic PV-DV900 MiniDV and have found it to deliver consistently good results at a price in line with non-SVHS units.
Make no mistake, this is no professional deck, however. The s3900 is lighter than most I've used (perhaps due to a lack of internal shielding) and the jog/shuttle control is frustrating in it's "springiness" ... I've had it slip in my fingers at particularly inopportune moments.
On the plus side, the pause control is lightning-quick (the editing method most home movie editors will employ), the sound quality very good, unit seems durable, good tuner, etc...
When compared to Panasonic's PV-S9670 at (dollar amount), you can buy two S3900's and dub between them, or keep an extra around as a spare.
entry-level SVHS deck = entry-level quality.......2001-10-12
I bought this as an upgrade to my old Panasonic VHS Hifi VCR ($500 when I bought it back in the early 90's.) I assumed an SVHS deck would easily outperform any VHS VCR, not so as I discovered!
In VHS mode, at EP (slowest speed), the JVC SVHS VCR has mediocre picture quality, slightly worse than my old VHS VCR! In SP, the two are about equal, with the Panasonic exhibiting less noise.
In "SVHS ET" mode (using regular VHS tape), the JVC SVHS VCR again has mediocre picture quality, but with slightly higher resolution. In SP, the picture is slightly better than the old Panasonic. SVHS-ET depends on tape-quality a lot, and I was using 'mid-grade' TDK VHS tape (E-HG) Seems like this is more a marketing gimmick than a useful feature.
In SVHS mode (using SVHS tape), the picture is a lot better, and the VCR starts to earn its 'SVHS' label. Even in EP (slowest speed), the image detail is noticeably better than VHS or the fake 'SVHS ET' mode. Using SP speed, image detail is roughly the same, but less picture noise. All in all, the picture is almost indistinguishable from a live TV broadcast.
Playback of prerecorded (store-bought) VHS movies was very medicore...more picture noise than my 8 year old Panasonic VHS.
As long as you use real SVHS tapes with this machine, you'll be ok. Otherwise, look elsewhere! A less-expensive regular VHS VCR will give you better picture-quality (for VHS tapes)!
Skip it.......2001-05-14
I would like to know who design this VCR. Even though it is a Super VHS machine, it does not live up to the super part. The channel, FW, REW and pause all use the same control, which is a rotary knob and very confusing to use. Push the knob and rotate to select channels. Push and rotate for FW or REW. Push to pause. Why would anyone try to use one knob for five different functions? The remote must have been designed by the same person. Once you program the remote to communicate with your TV or cable box you must hold the TV or cable button while pressing the function button that you want to use. To raise the volume press and hold the TV button and while holding the TV button you then push the volume up button, this is dumb. Setting a timer program you use the remote which has buttons for the start, end, date and on and on why so many buttons. The record quality is not very good at all. I have a Panasonic that records a much better picture and another thing JVC only records in SP or EP while the panasonic records in SP,SLP and EP.
