All I wanted was a simple plain paper fax machine to handle basic fax and copy functions for medical records, insurance papers etc. Instead, what I got was the most primitive, frustrating piece of technology ever developed by man. It is as if the designers purposefully built this machine to drive people mad? Is it possible that Brother designed this machine to exact revenge against America for WWII?

Have any of you ever seen the movie Office Space? There is a scene where the disgruntled workers kidnap the office fax machine, take it to a deserted field and give it the beat down with their feet and baseball bats. That is what is going to happen to this fax machine. It is the most frustrating POS I have ever seen. If you have a nemesis and/or mortal enemy, give them this fax machine as a gift, it is guaranteed to drive the recipient insane.

It is not as if I am some sort of Luddite, I have worked for many years in the high-tech arena but this thing always pulls the paper through sideways and it is virtually impossible to replace the "cartridge." In fact, the cartridge is actually some sort of scroll device that appears to have been developed in the Middle Ages.

Want to fax more than one page at a time--forget it. This machine is designed to eat your documents, that's right, it lives by gorging itself on your precious papers.

As for the copy function, well, if you baby-sit EVERY piece of paper that goes through the feeder you might get some crappy quality copies IF the feeder doesn't ingest your entire document.

I guess you get what you pay for and if you love frustration, hassle and poor quality then you will love this POS.

Machine is easy to set up; limited options but sufficient for my needs. However, though resolution can be adjusted for outgoing faxes (standard/fine/extra-fine), this is not possible for incoming faxes, and I find the 400x400 dot-matrix printout unreadable in many cases for work purposes (eg, trying to decipher phone numbers). Probably good if details are not essential, but if they are, get a machine with better print resolution.

I am really happy with this little fax machine, perfect for what I needed. I read other reviews before buying and was a little concerned about quality - not anymore. If you are looking for a high-volume fax then you should be looking at higher priced faxes. If you are looking for a home fax this is PERFECT. It is a wonderful size, easy to use, set up was so easy I thought I must have missed something. I think this is a real good buy!

This model is pretty old and uncomfortable for use. However, it can make copies and send and receive faxes.Caller ID screen changes every second and makes it hard to see the number.I have Panasonic phone and use fax for its direct work only. It does it.

Not that great..........2007-09-13

We bought one of these for my daughter and within a month the thing would freeze up. She sent it back for repairs and left the battery in. They fixed it and sent it back without the battery and told her it would cost $40 dollars for a new battery. I was mad and wrote the head of their public relations department a letter and Creative called me the next morning and had a battery overnighted to my daughter. (hint: go to the public relations for fastest results). Then it happened again and they would send a new one (didn't have to call their PR after the first one). This happend 3 more times till my daughter quit using her sony sport headphones. Then after about 3 months the headphone jack started having problems, so she brought it to me and I fixed it. And it has worked fine since then. The same thing happened to my video zen:m using the sony headphones. Evidently there something with sony headphones and creatives MP3 players. Now my daughter has a ipod nano and seems really happy with it.

Good until..........2007-03-16

I bought my Zen Micro about a year ago. I loved it because it had great features at a great price. The music is pretty good and it holds a lot. The radio is good once you get it to tune. The way it is designed is great and the voice recording is useful.

A few weeks ago though, my problems with it started. If you charge the battery when it is half-way, it makes the battery last a LOT less. It started dieing very soon. I tried to charge it, but when you take out the battery and turn it on it goes to a recovery screen. You can't get out of it easily. It is helpful but never delete the firmware. It says you can reload it onto the player through a USB plug, but you can't easily at least. Since it was more than 60 days old, they wouldn't let me talk to them over the phone. Also, it was more than a year ago so they wouldn't even help me by e-mail. They left me with a small "knoledge database" that didn't help at all. They did say though that for $12.99 you could get a 30 minute session with a "Creative tutor." I took a search to finally find the phone number. Finally I got in contact with a person and told him my problem. He told me that I could send it in and get it repaired for $60 to $100 plus $12.99 for shipping back and whatever I pay for shipping to get there. Disgusted, I decided not to pay, and just got a new player.

So I am here to tell you that while the Zen Micro might be good, the service is absolutely terrible. Even Apple which I heard doesn't have great service has better service than Creative.

Don't buy! Fine product with bad hardware problems........2007-01-20

I got this when it first came out and like everyone else, I had the headphone jack problem. Creative wanted me to pay 90 some dollars to get it fixed. Yeah ight, for a major defect that was THEIR problem and if you weren't under warrent then too bad?!?! Not only that but the software wouldn't let me well do anything. I had to go install a new media center just to sync music. This would have been the Ipod killer if it didn't have crap service and hardware problems. Don't waste your money on Creative.

Good Initially but Won't Work Now.......2007-01-18

I loved this little guy when I first bought it (about 18 months ago). Now, it won't connect via USB (maybe one time out of 10) and it freezes up when playing. I've tried everything to clean it up and correct the problem, but it still freezes. Sadly, I'll be buying a replacement from somebody else because I liked the software and easy of use.

As with everyone else, I have to wiggle and jiggle my headphone jack to get it even remotely close to working. This makes it not only impossible to use when running, but even when just walking or moving at all. For the same price you could get an iPod or better.

In addition, Cobra's microTALK two-way radios are a reliable and affordable method of communicating in warehouses, construction sites, convention centers and other workplace situations. Cobra's new microTALK FRS line provides clear, two-way communications for up to two miles and access to all 14 communications channels. In addition, they feature a backlit LCD display for easy viewing at night or in dark conditions. The new line also offers incoming "call alert", enabling one microTALK unit to ring another simply by pushing the "call" button and a "roger beep" that indicates the completion of one user's transmission and signals the other user to talk. The microTALK FRS-115 includes the first and only AM/FM digital radio with sport headphones. Users can listen to the AM/FM digital radio and if a call comes through, the FRS overrides the stereo enabling users to clearly hear the message being sent. Along with the AM/FM stereo and headphones, the microTALK FRS-115 features Cobra's comfortable SoftGrip cabinet for easy handling. You'd be hard-pressed to find an FRS radio that packs as many features into such a compact and attractive package as Cobra's FRS115 Microtalk. In addition to having a multitude of advanced communications features, the Microtalk is the only radio in Cobra's line capable of picking up AM and FM signals. This allows you to listen to stereo broadcasts via headphones attached to the integrated headphone jack. Incoming FRS broadcasts temporarily disrupted the AM or FM reception, which enabled us to listen to our favorite tunes and talk radio programs without missing an important transmission from a member of our group.

The product's design is as sensible as it is colorful, incorporating a flexible rubber antenna instead of hard plastic. The unit's many buttons are easily accessible yet difficult to push by accident, and there's a channel-lock feature that comes in handy when inquisitive kids (or clumsy friends) are entrusted with the radio.

A call button can be pushed to make other FRS radios tuned to your frequency "ring," alerting others in your party that you are about to make a transmission. There are independent buttons for adjusting the unit's volume and selecting channels, along with a microphone jack that can be used with a separately available headset to allow for true hands-free operation.

The Microtalk did a great job in our tests, with a range comparable to that of other FRS units and decent audio quality from the built-in speaker. We ditched the included headphones, as their hard plastic design made them uncomfortable, and used a pair of compact earbuds instead. We expected AM and FM reception to be limited, but it was pulling in signals in a basement office that even standalone portable radios we've tested couldn't tune. A handy seek feature simplifies tuning, and memory presets keep our favorite stations within easy reach.

If the included headphones were only better, this would be a near-perfect FRS radio. But even with that slight oversight, the Microtalk is a true standout in a crowded market. --Tracy Baker

Frs/fm convenience but low quality.......2004-03-06

I use the Frs 115 in a high noise enviroment. I bought it specifically for the radio function. I was forced to use a mono earpiece with it, as the internal speaker was totally inadequate. With earpiece it is decent. When my supervisor told me to quit using an earpiece, I purchased a handheld speaker/mic unit. I have tried two spkr/mic units with this radio and the output of the radio is totally unacceptable. The amp for the jacks seems to incompatible with Radioshack and Icom brands of spkr/mic. I want to try a Cobra spkr/mic. Also, my units couldn't pick up radio signals very well at all, even when outside of the house. Volume control only has 8 steps and will not turn unit all the way down. Auto interrupt for calls is a nice feature. I got my units refurbished , so that may be one reason I have had problems with them. The radios have also just stopped working a couple of times, and I had to let them sit for a minute before turning them back on. The fragile belt holster included with unit btoke while I was sitting in a Ferris Wheel.

It's nice to have a built in AM/FM radio in this FRS 2-way Cobra radio. While waiting for your party to call in, you can listen to your favorite stations and it 'cuts' in when they try to reach you.

The unit can be hard to 'program' but not any more than other devices like it, that have multiple uses. I didn't find the range to be any worse than my Motorola FRS radios. I like the beep that it provides when you stop talking, so the other party knows you are done.

The potential downside for some users is the 4 AAA batteries that it uses, but I use rechargables that I find last long enough for my useage, and helps cut down the cost as compared to alkaline batteries. See my review of the duracell rechargeables.

Good for the kids.......2002-04-18

This radio is good for the kids. The am/fm provides options not available on all other such devices. It has a flexible antenna and includes a belt clip. I found the buttons somewhat difficult to push and the case a bit slippery. The serious user will want rubberized grips. Overall a good value.

I liked the product itself, works ok for the price. My complaint is that I purchased these for the "mail in rebate" which i filed but never received. Was deceived.

If you are looking for FRS 2-way radio, consider models with 14x38 channels as air is saturated with users in areas where you gonna use it -- ski slops, ships, parks etc. 14 channels doesn't give enough options, so with this radio you will listen to conversations of others!

To consider: 1) audiovox (model with 14x38 channels) 2) higher end Cobra with 14x38
