The Kodak EasyShare DX7630 is made with a Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon 3x optical zoom lens and features multizone autofocus.
Optics and Resolution
The DX7630 has a 6-megapixel resolution for 2856 x 2142 images and photo enlargements up to 30 x 40 inches. Other resolution modes include 2856 x 1904 (5.4 MP, 3:2 aspect ratio), 2304 x 1728 (4 MP), 2048 x 1536 (3 MP), and 1496 x 1122 (1.7MP). The Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon 3x optical zoom lens is also supplemented by a 4x digital zoom, for a 12x total. Working with renowned German professional optics designer Schneider-Kreuznach, Kodak equipped the camera with an f2.8 to f8.0 aspheric lens to provide striking edge-to-edge brightness and sharpness across the frame.

Movie Mode
The DX7630 can capture full-motion video (20 frames per second at 320 x 240 pixels) with capacity dependent on available memory (32 MB internal memory included; additional memory may be added via the SD/MMC expansion slot). The DX7630's 32 MB memory will capture approximately 3.5 minutes of video.

The DX7630 camera's precision low-light auto-focus system combines rapid phase detection with highly accurate through the lens (TTL) contrast detection to sharply define a subject, even in almost complete darkness. Okay Camera.......2007-06-27

It takes great pictures, and has very easy controls, we have this camera for a few years and are pretty satisfied. however the lens often gets out of position, and has to be repositioned (a little scary to do as you're constantly afraid you'll break it) in order for the camera to shut. We even had to send it in to replace the lens after it got totaly bent. Lately the speaker broke, but the microphone still works wonderfully, so it isn't much of a problem. All in all its a pretty good camera, as its been taking good pictures steadily. One negative though is that although you can set it to take multiples of the same image, you have to pause a little before you can take another shot. Also there is no in camera editing.

i bought this camera when it first came out 3 years ago and have not been dissapointed. This camera has gotten a workout over the past 3 years, iwth four kids lots of travel and picture taking. .I am an avid scrapbooker and this camera never let me down. Unlike others, i have overused this camerea, and have never ever had aproblem with the battery latch. Still has the original, and have never had to send it back for any type of repair til now....I dropped it in hawaii and now it turns itself on and off at will. I figured instead of paying for repair,i'd just buy a new one.... cant find one anywhere... The best feature with this camera is the rapid shutter. I never missed a smile or a special momemt due to the delay that so many digital cameras have. It's the best i have found so far. I have tried out all the new cameras and even the newer kodaks are not as fast as this one. I found this site after doing an online search to see if i could buy this camerea anywhere. I dont think you will be dissapointted with this camera. Goodluck!

poor quality.......2006-12-04

I also had the battery latch break within the first month. I returned the camera for a new one, and the latch broke several weeks later. I decided to keep the camera anyway, but after a year and a half, the flash quit working. I was offered the $135 repair or a refurbished Z650 for $199. I can get the Z650 new for $210 at Circuit City. I also have to wonder, why are so many refurbished cameras available? Stay away from Kodak, even thought it took nice pics.

DX 7630.......2006-12-01

I like the camera. Has a nice size lcd screen to preview pictures taken and the battery life is great. Also very easy to use. Like at least one other user review stated my battery latch broke also but still works fine it just doesnt hold it in there. It's kinda bulky also in comparison to the newest skinnier cameras. My pictures all turn out 10 times better then my previous digital camera with this one but still not film camera quality. Close but not quite there yet. I don't know maybe it's my shaky hands. Maybe I'll try a tripod and then wright another review.
I bought a cheap one before and paid for it. Lost a couple of years of my families pictures because of that. On the other though with this camera they hardly ever turn out bad.

This camera is extremely easy to use. To the layman, the photo quality is superb and better than most comparable cameras I've seen. We've taken thousands of photos with it over the last two years. The battery latch is plastic and may break if you remove the battery for charging on a routine basis. However, the cover that slides over the battery compartment will hold the battery in place, and our camera still functions just as well. A good camera if you can find one for a good price.

This is the best monitor there is at this size, with these amazing response times, for this price. Benq is known for its superior monitors. Set up is easy and fast, works right out of the box. Excellent quality. Great for gaming. No lag. Clear, sharp picture, gorgeous colors. I have never been disappointed with this, or any other Benq monitor.

Intro: I was looking for a low-priced camera with a color LCD, decent megapixels and a reasonable price, and I found one.

Hookups: The computer reads the camera as a USB mass-storage device, not a digital camera. This makes it possible that you don't have to load any drivers if you have Windows XP or ME. You will have to load the camera drivers for previous versions of Windows. You just drag and drop the pictures with practically no waiting, even for videos. You can also hook this camera straight-up to your TV via the camera's "Video Out" and the supplied video cable to view your pictures and videos.

Memory: Camera includes 7 MB integrated memory. Also accepts Secure Digital cards to store pictures and movies on from 8 to 512 MB.

Display: The smoothness of the 1.6" color TFT LCD really surprised me, 27 fps to be exact. I expected it to be choppy, not the case. Very smooth video feed. The only way it can be choppy is if you move the camera very fast. You can view your pictures and videos as thumbnails on the display if you want. The display tells you, when it's on, is: the camera mode, flash and white balance settings, battery level, image quality and resolution, self-timer (if on), memory card (if inserted), and frame counter (how many pictures you have taken and how many you have left).

Interface: You can switch between taking pictures and reviewing taken pictures on-the-fly via a switch on the back. You have to go through the menu to delete pictures and videos though, no delete button.

Settings: "White Balance" and "Exposure Value" can be adjusted to your liking. The brightness of the display can also be changed. Auto-shutoff time can be off, 15, 30, 60, or 90 seconds. You can also change the picture resolution and quality as stated in the next section. Flash can be set to "On", "Off", or "Auto". White Balnce can be set to "Auto", "Sunny", "Flourescent", and "Tungsten".

Picture Capacity: The manual says you can take only 7 pictures at the highest quality, but the camera can handle 9. You can go all the way up to 205 pictures at the lowest quality using the included 7 MB integrated memory.

Picture Quality: Pictures are taken in the JPEG format. Picture quality is determined by the combination of picture resolution and quality. The resolutions available are 1600x1200 (2.0 MP), 1280x960 (1.2 MP), and 640x480. The picture quality can be "Fine", "Normal", or "Economy". At the "Fine" quality and at 1600x1200 (the highest possible quality), you can manage 9 pictures. At the same resolution and "Normal" quality, you can get 21 pictures at almost the same quality. I couldn't tell the difference. I can easily compare the highest picture quality of this camera to a one-time-use camera. Pictures can be better quality if you hold the camera still for about a second when you snap a picture. Action shots are nearly impossible due to the slow shutter speed. The color balance is pretty good. The sky sometimes looks aqua if you don't have it on the right "White Balance". If you have it on "Sunny", that should take care of that problem.

Flash: The flash really surprised me and others. In a completely dark room, I can take great pictures. I showed some pictures to my parents and they were very impressed when I told them the room was completely dark. You just have to make sure you are a few feet away from the subject to get a good picture or it'll be whited out.

Videos: Videos are taken in the AVI format. This camera cannot act as a webcam, you take pictures and movies with it. This model can take 34 second videos at highest quality with the included 7 MB integrated memory. The videos are quite smooth, better than I expected, 15 fps to be exact.

No Macro Mode: There is no macro mode with this camera, making all close-ups a little blurry. The focal range on this camera claims to be 1.2 meters to infinity. So to get good shots, you have to be that far away.

Zoom: Wasn't a big deal to me, but the included 4x digital zoom is a nice touch.

Out In The Field Before I found out what macro mode was, I tried helping my dad get pictures of his old radios he wanted to sell on ebay. He took those pictures from about a foot away. They were too blurry to make out the details on the radio. For example, you couldn't tell what the numbers were on the tuner and the grill was a blurred together.

I took this camera on its first trip. I took a picture a funny sign in Hondo, the first picture I took on the trip. That picture was very clear. The final destination was the Frio River. Don't worry, if you're not from Texas, you won't know where it is. The couple pictures from about 8-10 feet away were great. The picture of a small waterfall was amazingly crisp and clear. The ones after that were landscape pictures and I could tell they were a little blurry. The plastic over the lens got messed up a little from getting wet and me wiping it off. That might have been a factor. The landscape pictures were decent enough that anyone not looking too close wouldn't tell that they were blurry. Mainly, the leaves in the trees and bushes were blurry. The rocks and the river were clearer. I took a couple more pictures downstream of some tall trees and their reflections on the river. Those pictures were dark due to the height of the trees. They were blocking the light from getting to river. The second one of those trees were a bit brighter and I could really tell the details of the reflections.

Overall: I am glad I purchased this camera. If you want an awesome low-end camera, this one is for you.
