its good for psp.......2005-06-17

i used this one for the psp, and it works fine, however, if you don't know about media, you get less storage than it is labeled as, you actually get 227mb of storage instead of 256. anyway, the adapter works fine, and will works with my vaio PC, however, some say the new memory stick pro does not work with the slot on the vaio, just simply download a driver off the sony site to read the MS pro. great product except it is black not white (i think the white is more stylish).

How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The Lexar Media 256MB Memory Stick Duo Pro MSDP256-331, like most 256MB cards, will store on average 284 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 213 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 128 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 102 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 80 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.

Best bet for older Sony devices.......2004-09-15

Though the oldest review here claims misleading labeling, and rates the product poorly based on that, older Sony devices can only use the original Memory Stick format, and not the "Pro" format that the reviewer recommends.

The largest size available is 128mb. When Sony developed these tandem units - two 128mb Memory Sticks in one, each individually selectable with a miniscule toggle on the stick, they helped stave off technological obsolescence for early adopters of Memory Stick using devices. Having 256mb in a single stick offers greater convenience for owners of these older devices, and is more cost effective than buying two 128mb Memory Sticks.

I have used this stick in a Sony Clié handheld, which for the last two years was running with a 128mb Sony brand stick. Performance has been absolutely identical, and I now have double the capacity for less than half the price I paid originally for the Sony stick. I have also used it in a new laptop and digital video camera, both of which accept the newer "Pro" model sticks. Again, performance is perfect, including capturing video at a high image size for several minutes without any frame loss.

The stick itself has the requisite two toggles: one for switching between the two 128mb storage areas, and another for erasure protection. My stubby "guy" fingernails have no difficulty moving these controls. Also, the stick has a nice feature that my Sony one does not: A built-in indicator light on the exposed edge that flickers when the stick is being accessed by the device.

If you have a device that uses only the original Memory Stick, this is the best value I've found, offering the maximum possible memory in a single stick, and is upwardly compatible with newer devices. Highly recommended.

As correctly described in another review, this is 2x128M (together 256Mb) memory stick. You have a little jumper on the back to switch between the banks. For reference, there is no such thing as 256 Mb memory stick, that's a limitation of memory stick technology. To overcome this limitation, Sony came up with the Memory Stick Pro standard, which can be 256 Mb, 512 Mb, and even 1Gb+, but Memory Stick Pro is not compatible with many older devices.

So if you camera takes Memory Stick, this is an absolutely best value you can find. I have 256 Mb memory stick from Lexar and very happy about it -- actually I came here to buy another one.

This is really a 128MB x 2 memory stick.......2004-07-15

Don't be fooled by the picture. Even though the "128x2" logo is not shown, this is really a Memory Stick that has 2 partitions of 128MB. You have to flip a little switch to go between the 2 partitions. To get a true 256MB Memory Stick with contiguous memory, you'll need to look at the "Memory Stick Pro" models.

Video Card Shares with Physical RAM; USB Ports Tightly Spaced.......2005-12-18

The only significant problem with this computer was that the video card was sharing memory with the physical memory (RAM). This meant that the notebook actually had only 192 MB RAM of the original 256 MB RAM remaining for physical memory use.

The only minor problem I found in this computer was that the USB ports were spaced too closely to the round AC power jack. This would be important if you were trying to plug in a wide USB device, such as the iPod Shuffle or a variety of other MP3 stick players.

Besides these two issues, the HP Pavilion ze4805us is a very quiet, reliable, and decent-performing computer with excellent value.

Upgrade the ram. If you add a 256 stick, it will allow you to allocate 128 megs to video, and it actually runs cs well :)

Not bad for games,but slow speed for all else.......2004-10-09

I have this same laptop i got at wal-mart although it only has a 30gb hard drive(yet another draw back).When you actually go into the system settings it only has 192mb of onboard RAM to run windows with,64mb of it going to the powerful graphics card that it has. So yes unless your an avid gamer pass this one up,but if so then you can play any of the latest PC games out there with no trouble.Even though its clocked at 2.1ghz(processor) it still doesnt help when opening regular programs in windows because it has a bit of lag to it.Although this can be rectified with a good 256 stick of extra RAM,if your willing to do it,then its a pretty nice little machine.And btw shoppers beware of the Averatec at the wal-marts its nice,fast,and a good looking computer but the DVD/Burner CD-RW's are horrible for going bad.
