It's still "working" after 2 years but..........2006-10-29

I bought this 2 years ago as I needed a replacement for my 10 year old Mitsubishi VCR that decided it was no longer going to work. I had the money and since the VCR/DVD combo was only 100 dollars I thought the idea of a combo would be neat. I really didnt need a dvd player as my PS2 as well as my computer did DVD's. I could also just hook my computer up to the VCR using the S-video plug on the back of the Video card but thats all beside the point. Anyway, I bought this because I needed something new and since it was cheap I thought it was a good deal. I was wrong. It lasted me for about 2 years without a problem. If you can believe it when one thing acts up another has to act up with it. What I mean is the first problem I noticed is how when I would eject tapes it wouldnt eject properly. It would still slightly hold on to the tape reel and if you didn't notice and pulled it out without caution the tape would get damaged. Not a huge huge problem because that is fixable. What really bugs me is how the DVD player had to act up as well. Any DVD that I put in my DVD player, at random times while watching, will freeze up and you will see the numbers on the display jump around. After about a min of freezing it will begin playing again 20 seconds ahead of where it last was. The DVD player will continue to this throughout the DVD at random times. It's pretty annoying. Other than that I have yet to notice anything new. The VCR is only a minor problem but the DVD player is a big problem as I do not know how to fix that. I have a feeling the DVD player broke because of how hot that thing got when disks were in there. It would just spin so fast and get so hot even when nothing was playing and the disk was just sitting in there. Well, at least it gave me two years of use and the VCR still records fine which is all I really need it for. The DVD player issue is just annoying. If I were you I would steer clear of anything cheap like this and go for a much more trusted brand such as Panasonic, Mitsubishi, or Sony. They just have a much longer lifespan and are a much better investment.

Big disappointment.......2005-12-12

I got this unit at Target after my old DVD player conked out. I was just looking for a replacement DVD player, and then this unit caught my eye. My VCR was also getting old, and I thought it would be a good idea to replace both in one shot. After all, it would be cheaper than getting seperate units, and there would be way less wiring involved, one less remote, etc.

Well, the VCR worked great, and I was pleasantly surprised at the sound quality (I have a pretty good sound system). However, the DVD section had a distinct high pitched whining noise that came through my speakers, like a motor running, which was noticeable even at moderate volume levels when playing DVD's. No good! I picked up a good DVD player and set the Daewoo aside. I never got around to returning it, and ended up giving it to a friend who needed a VCR and only played DVD's through her TV set's small speakers. Everybody is happy now, right? Wrong! One week later, DVD's started to freeze, at first for a split second, then longer and longer until they are now unwatchable. What a dud this thing is!

Disposable VCR/DVD.......2005-10-07

I purchased this vcr/dvd 6 months ago and the vcr no longer works. Any button I push on the console or the remote activates rewind. There are no service centers in Washington State - although it is sold by Costco. Labor is not covered after 3 months. I certainly would not recommend the product - but even more than that, I would not recommend the company. They do not stand behind their products.

Gonna wanna stay away.......2005-09-29

I had previously sold my old Zenith Allegro VCR for $30 because it was time for an upgrade- the ol' Allegro had mono audio!! So I got this at Target on Clearance for $72. I hooked it up to component video (which I recommend for any television that will accept the red, green, and blue rca cables for video; best picture possible!) and the DVD looked pretty good, not as good as my Panasonic DVD player bought in fall 2001 which is still running perfectly! But as I was watching Season One of Scrubs, I rewind it quite frequently because Dr. Cox and the Janitor are freakin hilarious, the DVD starts freezing and then going to a spot a minute later, freezing, then going to a spot a minute later, etc. Not cool, breeze. I also noticed the audio is a 1/4 to 1/2 second late when playing DVD, also not cool. VCR works phenomenally, recorded my favorite shows without a problem. Easy menu and timer program setup with a bright colorful picture. The remote gets a little tricky in the dark while watching a movie- small buttons. If it was just a VCR which I was looking for first priority, I'd go ahead and praise this Daewoo puppy with the big 5 stars. But the DVD portion just wasn't up to my Panasonic expectations. It went back to Target and now i have a Panasonic V4523S VCR which impresses me yet again. I love you guys, Panasonic.

Over Priced VCR........2005-09-17

I bought this back in FEB (7 months ago) and liked it since it was a spacesaver/combo. I mostly used it for the DVD player since I have been burning my own, but do believe that it is a good VCR also. It has worked great until recently when it started having a problem reading the DVDs. It starts reading a DVD normally but within a minute starts to hesitate and after about another minute 'jumps' to a new area a minute or so further into the DVD. I can rewind back to almost the point where it jumped, to see what was missed but this happens somewhat frequently and is not a solution. I cleaned the DVD player but this didn't change anything. I haven't had much cooperation from Daewoo support either... even though I only had 3 months labor on the combo there is a 1 year warrentee on parts, and after speaking to someone about this I understand that Daewoo will replace the unit if they can't fix it. Only problem is I have been unable to speak with a tech except for the 1st call - I've called back 3 times to the support center and they say someone will call me within 48 hours... but don't. Good luck.

Don't buy it, you will regret it!.......2007-09-12

Bought for our business that relies completely on our phone systems. Happy at first, seemed to work pretty good but was disappointed there are no belt clips. Lasted 2-3 weeks and then we noticed the answer machine was very distorted and would not shut off. We lost several messages. Ok can live with this....things happen. Called them and they told me I would have to ship to Texas at my expense. Also told me there were no loaners I would have to live without until it was returned. 3 weeks later it arrived back. During this time we used a one line phone and am sure we missed some calls due to it being busy. Used the phone for 3 more weeks and noticed we were missing some more calls. We then realized the remote handsets were not ringing, in fact they no longer beeped when buttons were pushed. So I contacted them again and after trying to troubleshoot they asked it be sent back. I made a stink and they offered a loaner for a non refundable fee of $49.95. Are you kidding, as much as this breaks they could get rich off me. Remember this is all under warrantee. Don't say I didn't warn you

This is one of the best cordless phone sets I have ever owned and I have had three. It is very powerful and I have had no problems.

The best part about this phone is that individual units dont need a phone line and you can have them in any part of the house. I only gave it four stars because the voice quality is not the greatest. Overall it is a good choice.

You would think that, with the increasing number of home-based businesses and home offices, one of the telephone manufacturers would come out with a top quality phone system that hit every item on a business user's wishlist. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case. We did a lot of research before we purchased this Panasonic two-line cordless phone, and it's surprising how few options there are. And, of those options, most seem to get dreadful reviews.

We've had this phone for about a year. I think it's okay -- but given the alternatives, "okay" may be the best one can hope for.

Note that I haven't used the built-in answering machine (I find the phone company's service to be easier for my purposes) so I can't give you advice about that function.

Also, it was important to me to choose a 5.8GHz system. I have a computer network that runs primarily on wireless, and I wanted to ensure there was no conflict between the computers and the phone.

The plusses:

* Audio quality is fine. Nothing to shout about, but I can hear the other person and he can hear me. I keep wishing the volume would go higher.
* The wireless range is fine. We haven't tried to stretch it at all, but one of the cordless units is at the other end of the house, probably 100 feet from the base station (which is in my office), and I haven't had any cut-outs.
* The unique ring is a feature I'd never have sought out, but I appreciate; this way, I can tell when the home line is ringing verus the business line.

The minuses:
* It can be hard to read the screens; that can be a problem when you're trying to read the caller-ID information. I wish there were a backlight.
* The base unit doesn't have caller ID displayed; you have to pick up the handheld unit to see it or, for that matter, to scroll through the calls that were missed. The only display on the base unit is for the answering machine.
* Speaking of missed calls: oddly, the "missed call list" is separate for each handset. If I answer a call in my office, the other three handsets list the number as though nobody picked up the phone. It's a minor annoyance to have to clear these individually.
* The speakerphone is borderline. It works, but -- perhaps because there are three computers on my desk -- I have the impression that the audio quality on my correspondent's side isn't that great. I usually wind up picking up the handset to talk; my husband uses a earbud plugged into his handset.
* The handset user interface takes a bit of getting used to. Even after a year, I have to search for the hold button.

The products that you grow to love always offer a little more than you expected. The Panasonic doesn't. It does the job. It's been reliable (which is more than I could say about the 5-year-old Siemens system it replaced) and it fulfills the basic phone requirements. But I wouldn't go out of my way to say "Buy this one" -- except that I've never seen a system that I thought would be better.

Personally (in case any of the manufacturers are listening) I wouldn't mind spending MORE for a two-line phone system if it was truly professional grade. Alas, nobody seems to give me that opportunity.

Decent phone.......2006-11-10

Bought this phone to replace another Panasonic (900mhz) unit that somehow got "fried". The old unit tended to get static after a short distance from the base unit, but the new unit is much more clearer. The 5.8GHz unit has a speaker phone, but it's somewhat difficult to listen too (I guess that should be expected when so much is packed into the unit). Still, I like this unit and would recommend it as a nice 2 line unit.

This is great Surveillance Equipment!This infrared B/W digital surveillance camera will take pictures automatically whenever someone moves in front of it and then digitally store the pictures within the micro-camera. This allows you to retrieve them later just by plugging the camera into your TV/VCR. This camera is great for catching someone sneaking around your house or you can put it in your car and aim it out the window. Since it works by changes in the picture and not motion, you can take pictures through glass and it will still work beautifully. You can set the pictures to be taken at 1-60 second intervals. (UP TO 42 FRAMES) The unit will automatically add a time and date stamp to each picture. Captures images at night using Infra Red LEDs. After you return to the site, you can view the saved images by disarming it with the remote and connecting it to the RCA video input jack of a TV or VCR using the included cable. It's that easy! The camera can also take pictures on command by pressing the EMERGENCY button on the remote. Use the 3-button remote to navigate your way through the images, or erase them if desired. Images are stored in non-volatile memory, so you won't accidentally lose them during a power outage or when you unplug the unit. You can then view the images back by turning the camera off with one of 2 key fobs provided. They will also allow you to press the emergency button on them, thus turning on the camera to take pictures at that moment. After viewing the pics you may erase them or copy them to a VCR tape. The camera also has a 8mm lens, and built-in infrared allowing the capture of images of people in the dark (up to 10 feet away). This camera includes with 2 remote controls, a power adapter, and a video cable. This camera can also be used with a 9V Battery Pack
