Product Description
Satellite Radio is becoming increasingly popular. For one thing, you can listen to the same radio station from Maine to Califirnia - with no static or interference. For another, XM offers over 130 channels of mostly commercial-free programming. XM was first introduced to drivers, then made its way to homes, with MyFi you can take it with you everywhere, anywhere (in the USA), and anytime.
The Delphi XM MyFi comes with all of the accessories needed to enjoy XM at home, at work, in any vehicle or on the go. As the most advanced satellite radio available, the MyFi offers everything you need to enjoy XM anywhere: Hand-held MYFi receiver; Rechargeable, integrated battery; Complete home accessory kit; Complete vehicle accessory kit; First-ever built-in XM antenna; Headphones; Remote control; Belt clip/stand; Carrying case. XM Radio service requires a monthly subscription fee. Without it, this radio is inoperative.
Amazon.com Review
The biggest boost yet for satellite radio has to be Delphi's radiant MyFi XM2GO portable satellite radio receiver and digital music player. The MyFi can record and play back up to 5 hours of XM's digital programming whenever and wherever you choose. It requires a subscription to XM satellite radio ($12.95/month), but just
Compact and easy, to use the MyFi offers 150 XM satellite channels. |
about everything else you could want for home, outdoor, or car listening comes in the box. XM's 150 channels include 67 commercial-free music channels as well as premier news, sports, talk, traffic, and weather listings.
The MyFi comes with a densely packed carton of accessories, including everything from headphones and antennas to a remote control, belt clips, and separate docking apparatus for integrating the receiver with your home and car stereos.
Smaller than a PDA, the receiver exudes greatness even before you hear it: it's just heavy enough to seem solidly built yet light enough to merit the term "portable." The receiver even comes with world-class manuals, from its tips sheet to the longer quick-start guide to the 42-page user's manual (separate English and Spanish editions of each are provided).
An illuminated six-line LCD is your gateway to browsing XM's programming. You can browse by station, by category, or (our favorite) by currently playing artist. Thirty channel presets simplify access to your favorites, and a handy memo button stores artist and song data for up to 20 performances you'd like to look into later (or find again on XM).
Any satellite radio system requires a fairly heavy-duty antenna. Accordingly, the MyFi comes with four: one for the home (place it in a south-facing window), one for the car (mount it on the roof or trunk), a clip-on antenna for when you're hoofing it, and a built-in antenna. Our home reception was perfect--we never experienced a single drop out. Car reception was spottier, though still excellent. You just have to get used to the fact that where analog radio gets noisier in areas with poor reception, satellite radio drops out altogether; it's either all there, crystal clear, or all absent. And that's where My XM, MyFi's recording feature, comes in handy.
The MyFi mounts easily in most vehicles. |
My XM lets you record XM programming to MyFi's onboard memory--perfect for time shifting your listening (as with a news program or a scheduled performance on XM Live) or for tuning in when you'll be someplace lacking XM reception (in a canyon, on a subway, in a windowless cubicle, etc.). You can schedule a recording or start and stop recording at any time you wish, and new recordings pick up where you last stopped. But you can't erase anything unless you clear the memory--which means you can't whittle away songs you don't like to retain your favorites. It's also important to remember that when you've filled the unit's memory (128 MB, or 5+ hours of full bitrate XM radio), it'll record over earlier material, starting from the top. During playback, however, My XM lets you skip easily from track to track and even pick from a list of all tracks.
You can configure the MyFi's LCD to scroll stock and sports-score tickers, a great way to keep an eye on important stats. The receiver also features a built-in sleep timer (15 minutes to 1 hour) and an alarm clock (wake to a beep or to XM programming).
What's in the Box
For car use, you have a choice of mounting options for the vehicle cradle: flush mount, vent mount, or swivel mount. The cradle houses a power jack for a DC vehicle power adapter (included), an antenna input, and an audio output for use with the provided cassette-shell audio adapter. You can use the cassette adapter or the MyFi's built-in wireless FM transmitter, which turns any FM radio into an XM radio. (Audio quality is better using the supplied cassette audio adapter, however. You may also purchase a wired FM adapter, though XM asserts that the cassette adapter sounds better than that, too.)
The Delphi XM MyFi comes complete with all of the accessories needed to enjoy XM anywhere. |
Positioning the car antenna can be inelegant, despite its heavy-duty magnet. You can have it professionally installed or live with an exposed antenna cord, though XM recommends using "existing holes, body grommets, and other wiring channels" rather than closing a door over the cord on a daily basis. The receiver's battery pack proved good for about five hours between charges. The included earbud headphones are neither comfortable nor particularly well made; a nicer set would represent XM's strong sound quality. --Michael Mikesell

hard to read.......2007-09-19
I have owned this item for 2 years and have always found it difficult to read especially on a sunny day. Not a terrible thing. I just switched to sirius and I do find there music much more to my liking. (classic rock, hard ,alternative). Howard Stern seems much more enjoyable being I have not heard him in 2 yrs. It does have a stock ticker which sirius does not offer on any model that I know of.
Some bugs, but overall very good.......2007-09-16
I've had this unit for about 2 years. I use it in the car, at the office, and at home. Some tips: when hooking up to a stereo receiver, use the "tape" jacks, I found this works best. In the car: best to hardwire into the radio via the car stereo "aux input." Have never got it to work well as a Walkman, the little antenna just doesn't work (get signal when jogging one way down a street, no signal jogging back). Overall, very versatile (lots of after-market stuff, ie: desktop cradle with speakers, battery-powered cradle with speakers, both from Altec Lansing, both work great) and has given me good service. I recommend it.
XM portable satelite radio.......2007-06-08
I love this radio! I dropped & broke the first one...my bad. I only wanted this same one. Well worth the money.
This radio is superb!.......2007-05-24
I had this Hard-wired in my car until recently - (for a year and one half)and still use this unit for walking.
It works great with the car radio - but the frequencies in my area are becoming crowded, so I opted to go with an all-in-one radio with HD in my car so I did not have to run through the FM stations.
Also - it is important to purchase the Belkin Satellite headphones in order to get any reception outside - i.e. when walking. With these, the radio works great as a portable unit. This unit is going into my husband's car now and it works great using the cigarette lighter and the antenna through the FM. We probably will not hardwire it into his car because there is no need to. It has great reception!
I did purchase the extended warranty and have not had to use it. I like this radio ad the battery life much better than my Pioneer Inno.
Great until it needs repair.......2007-05-10
Greatly enjoyed my Delphi XM2go portable for 15 months until the earphone recepticle in the radio became intermittent. Spent lots of time searching, and I have yet to find someone who will repair it. I give Delphi an "A" for design and functionality, and an "F" for customer support. Never again will I buy a Delphi product.

MyFi Forever........2007-04-15
I've been recording up to 9.5hrs of music with this thing and I also have been using this to record over 12hrs of music at home while I'm on the night shift at work by using the Radio Shark. Most of the time the best styles of music is played while I'm at work so now I'll be prepared when my Uncle Sam sends me overseas. Try this or the other styles of SAT Radios, you might just like it. Product Description
Panasonic KX-TC1723B digital cordless telephone operates on the 900MHz frequency for extended range and clarity and more secure conversations. The fact that this model is digital, helps to secure phone calls from potential eavesdropping. This phone is also Caller ID compatible. When used in conjunction with Call Waiting Caller ID, the Call Waiting Caller ID feature will display the caller's information on the multifunction, backlit, three-line LCD display located on the handset - even if the user is currently on another call when the second call comes in. A Caller ID memory with dialer for later review and instant callback capability of received calls is also viewable via the handset display. A Direct Dialer button provides "one-touch" access to an emergency or often-used phone number.KX-TC1723B includes a "message waiting" lamp for use with phone company subscribed voice mail, which will light when a message has been recorded in the service's voice mailbox. Other features include positive-charge, self-clean battery contacts, and hold/flash/redial.

A three-line LCD panel displays entries in the 50-number phone directory and in the 50-entry call-waiting/caller ID history. Also included are handy volume controls for both ringer and handset, flash and redial buttons, and instant call return for numbers listed on the caller ID. Panasonic provides one year of warranty coverage for parts and 90 days' coverage for service.

Don't Buy it!.......2003-01-28
I purchased this phone and it has been a headache ever since I got it charged up. It has horrible static and clicks when in use. Those that I am talking with complain that they cannot understand me because it constantly cuts out. I have sent it back to the customer service to get it fixed, but who know what will happen with it. I'd recommend passing up this phone and going with a different one. Saving the lower price for a two line phone wasn't worth it.
Very good phone.......2002-08-26
OK, I like cordless phones. Always have. When they work well they duplicate the functions of wired phones with freedom to move around the home or office. The problems with them can be: poor range resulting in static or dropped calls, short battery life requiring lots of time on the cradle, poor fidelity, interference with other devices (which I have experienced with some 2.4 Ghz models- so I came back to 900 Mhz). This Panasonic 2-line unit suffers from none of those shortcomings. In addition, the phone features are genuinely useful and work flawlessly. Line 1 and Line 2 indicators tell me which line is ringing, and when another extension is using a line elsewhere in the house (the Panasonic will automatically choose the free line for your outgoing call). Unlike other phones I have had, I can be on the Panasonic and my wife can join in the conversation from another extension (wired or cordless), just like picking up 2 wired extension phones. Caller ID features work well and quick saves from the Caller ID list to the Panasonic's internal phonebook are simple and intuitive. Even the speakerphone works well, so nice when multiple family members want to chime in all together from the patio when the grandparents call. The Amazon price beat everyone else when I bought this phone, but the price went up a little when I went back to buy a second one - I like it that much. It would be nice if Panasonic offered:
a) second battery to stay charged in the phone base to keep the unit operational during power failures. b) Speakerphone at the base station. c) microphone mute- conspicuously absent here. d) More range - they offer SST models they claim to quadruple the range at substantially more money - I may try one to see.
Bottom line- If... you have Caller ID service from the phone copmpany, this is the phone to buy.
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!.......2002-08-11
This is my third Panasonic 900Mhz cordless phone and I have to say that I am sorely disappointed in it. I purchased this phone about 4 months ago. It seemed to have all the features I wanted in a phone; Two lines so I could answer both my home and office numbers, speakerphone in the hand unit for those times I have to call my DSL provider for support and get put on hold for a 1/2 hour... That stuff is real cool, except the phone itself is useless.
If I go further than 5 feet from the base station, the unit will emit loud pops and clicks. People are constantly asking my to speak up because they can't hear me. It is the most frustrating thing on earth to try speaking with someone while the phone is popping clicking and they can barely hear you.
I returned the phone in exchange for a new unit - I figured I may have received a bad one and it was past the 14 days I had for a full refund. The new unit had the same problem. I thought that maybe my other cordless phones were causing interference, so I unplugged all of them and even turned off all of my computer equipment - everything remotely electrical in the house had been turned off - even my cell phone. The KXTC1723 STILL has the same problem!!!
My other two Panasonic 900Mhz cordless phones are outstanding performers. I have had them for a few years now. I am very severely disappointed in the KXTC1723 model phone and will never purchase another Panasonic item again (so much for that HDTV I had my eye on).
This phone finally pushed me over the edge:
I was on a call earlier this morning with my mortgage agent and again had to play the repeat-myself game over the pops and clicks (as if refinancing isn't stressful enough). Mid sentence, I just could not take it anymore. I snapped off the antenna and threw the phone against the wall hard enough to send the battery into low-earth-orbit. I then courteously escorted the KXTC1723 unit to the garage where I introduced it to the business end of my Stanley 20oz Claw Hammer.
Problem Solved.

Excellent 2-line Cordless Phone, especially Caller ID.......2002-05-26
I have owned this phone for about 2 months. When I bought it, I was concerned that a second 900 MHz cordless phone might interfere with the Sony SPP-M937 that I already use. I have not had any interference, possibly because of the Panasonic's Auto-scan feature. The clarity is good, even across the house, and it uses a standard replaceable NiCad battery which recharges in the base. I was especially pleased with the search button in the center of the keypad, which accesses many menu functions with one or two pushes. It works well with Caller ID; all messages are logged, and can be added to the 50 number directory with a single button push. The size of the handset, weight and durability are also good. Two small criticisms: the 50 number directory may be small for some, and I would like a way to switch off the Caller ID log, which logs each call that comes in. For the price, this is a great phone.
