Product Description
The FinePix 2650 Zoom camera, with 2.0 million effective pixels, produces image with 1600 x 1200 recorded pixels. It is provided with a simple user-friendly control and an easy USB computer connection. A sliding lens cover protects the lens during storage. The FinePix 2650 Zoom features a Fujinon 3X optical / 2.5X digital zoom, video recording, and PC-cam Internet mode. The camera comes with a 16MB XD-Picture Card, 2 AA batteries, FinePix software and a USB cable.
Amazon.com Review
The FinePix 2650 proves that entry-level digital cameras don't necessarily have to take mediocre pictures or skimp on the features. Unlike many other cameras at this price, this model offers a limited amount of manual control, with six white balance modes and four different flash modes. Of course, everything can be set to automatic as well, and that's where this camera is in its element.
Offering only 2 megapixels, the FinePix 2650 isn't going to stun you with finely detailed images, but it is perfectly adequate for creating small prints or snapping photos you plan to e-mail or use on a Web site. Its color reproduction is impressive, as the camera doesn't suffer from the supersaturation problems that plague lesser products in this price range. Colors are bright but accurate, and don't "bleed" very much due to compression.
Unfortunately the viewfinder cuts off a surprisingly large part of the final image, making it difficult to frame shots. The excellent LCD on the back of the camera compensates, of course, and for the types of pictures most people will use this camera for it's a minor problem.
Of greater concern is the long interval of image processing after a shot is snapped. The camera churns away compressing and storing an image for up to 8 seconds after each picture, eliminating the possibility of taking shots in quick succession.
Otherwise, the included 16 MB xD-Picture Card is fast during transfers and when images are erased, although users may want to upgrade to a larger card if they plan to stick with high-quality images of 1,600 x 1,200. Despite its few problems, the FinePix 2650 remains an excellent light-duty snapshot camera. --T. Byrl Baker
Pros:
- Bright, fast LCD
- 3x optical zoom
- Easy to operate
Cons:
- Slow recovery time after each shot
- Needs a larger memory card
Amazon.com Product Description
The FinePix 2650 reaffirms Fuji's reputation for producing high-quality, affordable digital point-and-shoot cameras. Like its predecessor, the popular 2600, the FinePix 2650 is compact, lightweight, fast, and fun to use. It's also one of the first digital cameras to utilize the tiny XD memory card.
Featuring a CCD sensor with 2 million effective pixels, the FinePix 2650 delivers a wide range of detail and color (with images up to 1,600 x 1,200 pixels) and prints up to 8 by 10 inches. It also features a 3x optical zoom and two modes of digital zoom: 2.5x (at 640 x 480 mode) and 1.25x (at 1,280 x 960 mode). For photographers who want more control over their photos, there are several options: the flash has five modes, the white balance can be adjusted to optimize colors under various lighting conditions, and exposure compensation can be set to lighten or darken your shots.
In addition to taking still photos, the FinePix 2650 can also record silent movie clips of up to 94 seconds in 320 x 240 pixel mode. What's more, the camera can be connected directly to your computer's USB port for use as a Webcam.
The camera is powered by two AA batteries (alkalines are provided), but we recommend that you buy a set of rechargeable batteries, as they last longer on a single charge and quickly pay for themselves. Images are stored on XD memory cards, and a 16 MB card is included, which stores approximately 25 images at fine mode and 39 images at normal mode.
This package includes the FinePix 2650 digital camera, 16 MB XD memory card, two AA alkaline batteries, USB cable, hand strap, and CD-ROM with software and USB drivers for Windows and Mac.

The Gift that never was.......2007-05-17
I purchased this item as a Christmas gift and never received it. The seller claims he sent it, but the item never got to the birthday person leaving me in an embarrassing situation.
Don't waste your money.......2006-11-29
This was the first digital camera that I owned and I got it for Christmas a couple of years ago and at first it was nice because I didn't know any better.
The camera is very wide. I personally like the slim cameras. The time it takes between pictures is WAY too long! Then the screen turns black if you wait too long to take the picture so you have to hit a button to turn the screen back on and that takes another 3 seconds. The zoom feature sometimes doesn't want to close. Also the batteries come out easily because they aren't very secure. I've taken very good care of this camera. I only dropped the camera one time and now I hear a noice when I shake the camera like something is lose inside. The screen now turns black and won't take any pictures.
There are better options out there.
Great Little Camera...........2006-07-09
I had this camera back in 2003, it takes great photos. I dropped it into the sand, and we all know what sand does to cameras. I now have an Olympus E-300 dSLR, and a film SLR, but I wanted a small, but not too expensive, camera for my purse. I bought just bought another 2650 for a few bucks, refurbished by Fuji, which shows you how much I think of the image quality. For those people who are saying the image quality is not good, you really don't know what you are doing. The image quality produced a perfect 5x7 and a good 8x10. It is sharp, colors a fuji fine and at these prices now, why not get a cheapy and carry it around with you. If it gets stolen, you will not worry too much about it. Again I will say, this is a great little camera.
OK for what it is.......2006-02-14
This was my first digital camera. I won't describe the pros and cons of this model as other reviewers have covered this ground already. I used it for over 2 years with no problems, then the front lens became loose. The reason for the failure was evident upon disassembly. The outer barrel (the part that protrudes from the camera body) is held by three metal pins mounted on plastic tabs that are part of the lens barrel. One side of one tab broke, releasing the pin holding that side of the barrel in place. I suspect that the inner zoom lens barrel may have caught on the inside of the outer barrel, straining the tab and breaking it. Ordinarily it would be a simple fix to switch the lens to a new outer barrel, but if the entire lens assembly is sold as a unit, the repair would probably cost more than a new camera.
If all the moving parts were metal rather than plastic, the camera would probably last forever. Then again, others have commented on the limited life of the viewscreen, so my suspicion is that the entire unit is only intended to last a short period (by which time it would be obsolete anyway). Digital camera design is progressing so rapidly that no one should buy one without the intention of replacing it in a few years. If you want a camera you can pass down to your grandchildren, film is still the way to go.
I do need to comment on some of the other reviewers' observations:
1. The camera stops working - permanently - if you drop it or knock it off a table: This issue isn't limited to this model - virtually every electronic device will break if dropped or handled roughly. Many cell phones will take an incredible amount of abuse - if you want an indestructible camera, get a cell phone with a camera built-in.
2. The camera is too thick: It's about the same size and shape as a 35 mm snapshot camera. I suspect this is a problem only because much thinner digital cameras are now available - no one ever complained about this with the older film cameras.
3. The image in the viewfinder doesn't correspond exactly to the captured image: Again, just like a film camera with a viewfinder. Unless one is looking through the lens, parallax wil ensure that the viewed image differs from the final photograph. Even SLR film cameras only show 90-95% of what the film sees in the viewfinder.
Overall this camera was a great introduction to digital photography.
great starter camera.......2005-11-09
I loved this camera so much. It was a present, but they did a good job choosing it. I had it for a year and a half. It was very durable because I had dropped it once or twice on wood and it worked fine, then it got dropped a final time bouncing off a metal chair to concrete and the zoom lens broke, but it still works, just all the pictures are blurry. So I'm saying good-bye and getting another fujifilm because I invested in a larger xdcard and because I really liked the quality of these pictures. They were very crisp and clear even when printed-and lots of my friends cameras produced grainy shots with only 2.0 megapixels. I took some really nice yearbook photos for friends with it that came out really nice. So overall it's an excellent camera that I would tell anyone to buy if they didn't want to spend too much money on one.

Amazon.com Product Description
The FinePix 2600 reaffirms Fuji's reputation for producing high-quality, affordable digital point-and-shoot cameras. Like its predecessors, the 2600 is compact, lightweight, fast, and fun to use.
The 2600 is competing in one of the most crowded segments in the digital camera market. Virtually every manufacturer is now (as of November 2001) producing a 2-megapixel point-and-shoot with a 3x optical zoom lens, and it's no surprise: these cameras closely resemble their film counterparts in size, shape, and function, and the 1,600 by 1,200 images they capture contain enough detail for 8-by-10-inch prints, more or less matching the quality of most film point-and-shoot cameras.
With so many models to choose from, why pick the 2600? For one thing, Fuji was unusually generous with the accessories. The camera comes with a 16 MB memory card (big enough for 39 pictures at default resolution), plus a set of rechargeable batteries and a charger. In addition, this camera is quicker than most of its competitors. When you turn it on, it's ready to use very quickly, and shutter lag and shot-to-shot performance are also surprising for a camera in its class. Battery life is also good, especially for a camera that uses only two AA batteries.
Of course, not everything about the 2600 is perfect. Its body is made of plastic, and some of the buttons don't feel quite as durable as those on other cameras, though we had no problems with reliability during testing. The sliding clamshell lens cover is a nice touch, but, unlike other cameras, sliding the cover open and closed does not turn the camera on and off--there's a power switch on top for this purpose. As a result, we sometimes found ourselves closing the lens cover and forgetting to turn the camera off. In addition, the camera offers relatively few manual controls: white balance is adjustable, as is exposure compensation, and the flash has five modes, but shutter speed and aperture are both set automatically. The camera also includes a 20-second movie mode, but the movies lack audio. If you're the type of photographer who simply likes to turn the camera on, aim, zoom, and shoot, you'll be thrilled with the simplicity of the design, but if you want more control, this probably isn't the best choice for you.
The FinePix 2600 Zoom is a great value, especially for photographers who love point-and-shoot simplicity. It's affordably priced, simple, and fun to use, includes rechargeable batteries and a charger, and produces crisp images. --Shane Burnett
Pros:
- Compact, lightweight, fast, and affordable
- Sliding cover protects lens
- Package includes batteries, charger, 16 MB card
- Movie mode captures silent 20-second clips
- Speedy USB image transfers
Cons:
- Few settings can be adjusted by user
- Two-step on-off procedure seems unnecessarily complicated
- No video-out connection for TV image viewing

DECENT ENTRY LEVEL CAMERA.......2006-03-13
I HAVE OWNED THIS CAMERA FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW I BOUGHT IT WHEN DIGITAL CAMERAS WERE STILL PRICEY PAID ABOUT $225.00 I HAVE BEEN SHOPPING FOR A NEW CAMERA AND HAVE DECIDED TO BUY THE KODAK Z740
THIS WAS MY FIRST DIGITAL CAMERA THE REVIEWS AT THE TIME I BOUGHT IT WERE VERY GOOD FOR THE MONEY BUT THAT WAS THEN AND THIS IS NOW AND NOW YOU CAN GET MORE CAMERA FOR YOUR MONEY!
THIS CAMERA HAS ONE MAJOR FLAW YOU NEED TO BE AWARE OF THE BATTERY DOOR I DON'T KNOW IF FUJI HAS FIXED THE ISSUE ON NEWER VERSIONS OF THIS OR NOT BUT ALOT OF THE REVIEWS I READ WHEN I BOUGHT MINE MENTIONED THIS THE DOOR POPS OPEN VERY EASY IF YOU HAPPEN TO BUMP IT AND OUT COMES YOUR BATTERYS ON THE GROUND IF YOU GET ONE OPEN THE DOOR AND CAREFULLY BEND THE METAL TAB LATCH OUT A LITTLE THIS SEEMS TO HELP HOLD A BIT BETTER
ALSO A SMALLER FLAW IS THE SLIDEING LENS COVER DOOR IT HAS TO "CLICKED" ALL THE WAY OPEN FOR THE CAMERA TO WORK
AS FAR AS PICTURES IT TOOK PRETTY GOOD PICTURES AT FIRST BUT OVER TIME THE IMAGE QUALITY DOSEN'T SEEM AS GOOD AS IT WAS
THIS IS A VERY BASIC CAMERA WITH VERY BASIC FEATURES EASY TO OPERATE
GIVEN THE CURRENT PRICE AND FEATURES OF DIGITAL CAMERAS I THINK I WOULD LOOK ELSEWHERE
Wonderful for 3 years and then quit working.......2005-12-29
I have enjoyed this camera for about three years now. The picture quality is good and it is easy to use. BUT, just a few days ago while taking Christmas pictures it just died! The lens is stuck in an open position and the power will not come on. I have since learned that this camera is famous for working a year or so, and then the motor quits working. I would recommend a more reliable digital camera.
WORST camera there ever was! Get a Kodak (Z760 is awesome!) instead!.......2005-12-02
I used this fuji camera for about 4 or 5 years! I hated it from day one!! It is a pain in the rear.... and you don't get to change very many settings. The picture results most of the time are not even worth putting in the trash! This camera is garbage! Get a Kodak Z760.... you will be much happier!
My Very First Digital Camera Ever!.......2005-03-19
This fat little camera always had something "special" about it. Not only because it was the very first digital camera I ever owned and bought, but because of the great quality pictures it always rendered. I didn't know that, however, until I stupidly gave the camera away to a friend. I automatically believed any future camera I were to buy would give the same outstanding results, and indeed, most of the many cameras that were to follow that one did give me outstanding results. However, like I said, there was something "unique" in the pics this one captured. It always produced the brightest and richest colors and details. Nothing ever seemed to be "off" in the pics. Its macro capability always impressed me as well. I feel its macro capability was always underrated. Of course, this camera 'is' limited in that it is only a meager 2 megapixels and has no real manual capabilities to speak of, but you don't really need them if you are satisfied to take pictures in good lighting. Personally, I have taken really good pics indoors in dim situations using the flash and have been satisfied. Each photographic situation may vary of course. Outdoors though, on any bright sunny day is when this camera really shines with the pics it renders. I know that this camera is almost impossible to find now, but if you happen upon one (used or otherwise) and you can trust the seller you definitely should buy it.
By the way, my friend would not give back the camera even when I offered to pay him a good amount. I guess he also saw the "specialness" in the pics it captured. However, I 'was' able to find another one (refurbished at overstock.com) that is to this day every bit as good as the original one I bought. It gives the same awesome quality pics.
Great for beginners!.......2004-12-22
I bought this camera a few years ago, I was looking for a camera that was easy to handle, small in size, and was for beginners...well, I found this camera, and I got what I was looking for--a great, compact camera with excellent handling for beginners.
This camera uses a SmartMedia card, which is really convenient since you can find SmartMedia cards just about everywhere for a bargain price.
What was the deciding factor for me to buy this camera, was the amount of batteries it used. I was surprised to learn that it only uses two AA batteries, it has so many features for a beginner that you would think it would use more batteries. The life of the battery is fairly long, about 100 minutes, which is always nice. Some people may complain that it uses AA batteries, and that they would prefer to use a lithium battery, but I always find myself asking--why? It is so much more convenient to use AA batteries because you can pick them up anywhere.
The only thing about this camera that I can complain about is that there is no way to attach any additional lenses or filters, you can't even attach an adapter to add on any thing to the lens. For a beginner photographer, though, that is probably okay since beginners are not really using the lens or filters yet.
Also, this camera is a little bulkier than I had originally thought. It is small in length and height, but it is surprisingly thick.
Other than that, though, I thoroughly enjoyed this camera during the time I had it, and the only reason I sold it was because I was ready for an upgrade. But I loved this camera to bits while I had it--it really prepared me for the more advanced cameras, and it taught me all of my basic photography skills. Excellent, excellent camera for beginners.

Product Description
Samsung is well aware of the fact that a company's future lies in the hands of the customer, thus customer satisfaction is considered in all matters. Samsung Electronics' business philosophy stresses providing the products that customer needs, judging them from the customers' point of view, and satisfying customers with advanced technology and services. Under the corporate motto "creating new lifestyles for the world", Samsung Electronics strives to create a brighter future for people.
Amazon.com Product Description
While not known for making camcorders, Samsung has released a highly capable model in the SCD67. The digital model has a potent 22x optical zoom paired with a digital image stabilization system. Toss in a 2.5-inch LCD and assorted other features, and you have a winner.
The 22x optical zoom of the SCD67 is much more than adequate--many cameras top out at 10x--and enables the videographer to shoot footage from just about any vantage point. The lens is paired with digital image stabilization. This technology essentially reduces the amount of information used by the image sensor, effectively creating a buffer zone that removes the minimal shaking that is associated with high zoom levels.
Aside from the 2.5-inch LCD, the SCD67 also includes intelligent backlight compensation, which means the camcorder will adjust if you're shooting subjects with a light source shining behind them. It's not a cure-all--it's never a good idea to shoot into the sun--but it'll help when filming stage performances and similar situations. The kit contains a lithium-ion battery, AC adapter-charger, AV cable, and instructions.
Customer Reviews:
Samsung is a dishonor to Korea.......2005-08-21
I thought they made great products but this one breaks the mold!! I bought it on 2002 and it worked fine until the warranty ended. The video is worse than my old VHS cam (there are blocks in the picture). Yes, I've cleaned the heads! The sound is non-existent. Yes, I've checked the connections. Then, he mummbled something in Korean, laughing something in Korean. (This American probably forgot to plug in the power cord.) Suprise!! I understand it. I hanged up on him and bought myself a Canon.
Awful camera, awful customer service.......2004-12-17
This embarassment of a camera is the worst mistake of my consumer-life. It was broken out of the box. Ok, that I can understand.. happens to every manufacturer. So I took it to a so-called Samsung Certified Service Center who kept it for THREE MONTHS before giving me a new one. The new camera's picture quality quickly deteriorated until the images became unwatchable. Samsung's customer service amounted to, "You're lying and it's not my problem." Horrible, awful camera. Stay away at all costs from any Samsung product. If you've had luck with them in the past, pray you stay lucky because if something ever goes wrong they will burn you every chance they get.
ADDENDUM TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW.......2004-02-04
I have to say my Samsung SCD-67 Mini DV camcorder DOES WORK WITH FIREWIRE AND MAC. I've been editing my tapes on Mac from day one and haven't had a problem. "Blue Dalmation" iMac 500mhz/20Gig HD, OS 9.1 & iMovie 2.
The Lowest Priced Mini DV Camcorder Ain't Half Bad!.......2004-02-04
I produced a local cable access TV show and was looking for the lowest priced Mini-DV camcorder possible. I was lucky enough to be able to borrow a Canon GL-1 from the TV station but I wanted my own camera. So, I looked and looked and finally found the best quality camera, with the best features at the best price (sub $300) right here on Amazon! It's been a year since I bought it and I STILL haven't fully utilized all it's capabilities. Partially because I can edit tape on my firewire equipped Mac w/iMovie 2 and thus don't need any of the in-camera editing features. The other reason I haven't used all the SCD-67's features is because it's SO CONVENIENT to simply point and shoot and ALWAYS record pretty decent images. My images will get even better once I start using the camera's features! It's not a sophisticated 3 ccd camera, but it's easy to use, you can grow with it, it's very reliable if you don't abuse it, and unlike some much more expensive cameras, the tape eject opens from the top THE WAY IT SHOULD! Oh, and what other camcorder offers a 22X OPTICAL ZOOM??? I drool over the GL-2, XL-1s and the others, but my Samsung SCD-67 is gonna be with me for a long time, I'm happy to say. The MAJOR drawback is the lack of a headphone jack, which means your audio quality will remain a question mark until you get back to the editing bay. One way around that is an add on Beachtech adaptor or the use of an audio mixer which has a headphone jack. Great little cam!
do not buy this camera.......2003-10-08
this camera is not compatible with a mac. it says it is on their website and in their owner's manual, but once it is at home, it won't work. i have contacted samsung three times, and have had little or no help. a manager was supposed to call me back (this after I had sent the camera off to be worked on) but i still have not heard from anyone. and that's been over two months. i am tired of trying. this camera is ok at filming, but does not work when trying to edit on a mac. save your money and buy another brand!!
