Buyer Beware.......2007-04-20
I purchased this item a couple of years ago. Worked great out of the box. Today I went to record a dvd. It no longer works. I called the customer service number for "White Glove" service as noted on the unit. Number has been disconnected. I went to the website and looked through their FAQ - no answer to my problem. I clicked on their email address - it came back undeliverable. I clicked on "Contact Us" and all that was there was an address. So, do not look for any type of customer support or service when purchasing any GoVideo product.

Easy to use and just as easy on your pocketbook, GoVideo's affordable VR3930 dual-deck DVD player/DVD recorder and 4-head, hi-fi VCR lets you record your favorite television shows and treasured home videos not merely to VHS videocassette, but to high-quality, long-lasting, write-once and rewriteable DVDs, too: both DVD-R and DVD-RW, the most widely playable of the recordable DVD formats.
For camcorder owners, transferring home movies to DVD has never been easier. A convenient front-panel IEEE 1394 DV input accepts feeds from digital camcorders for easy recording to DVD and for playback on your TV. You can choose whether to record programs to tape or disc, and the recorder's built-in NTSC TV tuner and onscreen user interface permits up to 8 timer recordings over a single month, with 4 recording speeds providing between 1 and 4 hours of content on each DVD disc.
When recording, the unit automatically creates a new disc title every time you start a new recording. You can then add chapters to these recordings manually or have them automatically inserted at five-minute intervals. You can program up to 8 timer recordings up to 1 month in advance, on either VHS tape or DVD.
The VR3930's versatile playback features include progressive-scan DVD video outputs and support MP3, JPEG, and Kodak Picture CDs. A variety of video and audio inputs--including front-panel connections for fast, temporary hookups--grant connection to virtually all televisions and home theater components. Further simplifying your connections, the unit will pass both DVD and VHS signals from any of its video outputs (composite-, component-, and S-video) so you don't have to maintain multiple video feeds between the device and your television unless you're taking advantage of progressive-scanning.
The VR3930 comes with GoVideo's innovative EZ Play feature, designed to skips DVD ads, trailers, and menus, jumping right to the start of your movie. My Go Video Dvd Recorder.......2007-09-06
I had this dvd recorder now for about 3 yrs i think & i never had a problem yet as far as recording anyhting. That is recording dvd to vhs & vhs to dvd it works well actually great. Any movie that i burn from my computer the dvd player always plays it. When useing the dvd recorder especially when its vhs to dvd you must finalize it in order to get the disc to play in any other dvd player. As far as the options that i use from this dvd recoreder it has it works awesome & im completely happy with this product. The only reason i didn't give 5 stars cause i haven use every option yet. When i 1st got it i call customer service they were great they showed me the 1 touch quick operation as far as recording & i never had a problem since then
Are they still in business??.......2007-04-08
Recorder will now not reconize any disc-even ones it recorded. Sent e-mail to customer service listed on their web site. It was returned as a non valid address. Called 1-800 number listed on thier web page. No longer in service. It worked fine for awhile-bought at Radio Shack. Radio Shack has no answers and no support from what might be a dead or should be company. Rated Company one star because there was no option for minus stars
RIPPED OFF.......2006-12-15
I tried copying home videos from my Sharp Digital Viewcam. The GoVideo DVD recorder + VCR won't eject my DVD & none of the options from the DVD recorder + VCR or my television will work since I began the copying process! The front panel display reads "Write File" & the T.V. displays "Recording file information. Please wait a moment." Well, that moment has been 1 week now! I called technical support 4 times & emailed them with NO RESPONSE! They use the term "White Glove Customer Care." Maybe they use their "white gloves" to @#$!#@$ their customers! Looks like I've been ripped off!!
Save your money. .......2006-10-17
I bought this unit about a year ago and have gotten about 4 DVDs recorded. Even those don't play sometimes. This machine will give you messages that, "this video is copy protected and cannot be duplicated", even though it may be a VHS tape that I recorded from my video camera 30 minutes prior. The "copy protected" seems to be a favorite excuse for not working. It also indicates everything is working fine; shows the titles, etc., but then gives a message when you attempt to replay that nothing is on the DVD, or it needs to be finalized, or some other reason, however, nothing you do regarding finalization or any other remedies make a difference. Save your money, time, and frustration. Wish there was a zero minus catagory for this useless component. My sister-in-law bought the same unit and has exactly the same problems. Also forget tech support.
HOW TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS.......2006-06-13
My GO VIDEO DVD/VCR Recorder has worked fine, with only a few minor issues. Recently it stopped recognizing DVD+R discs, but worked fine with DVD-R discs. I bought a DVD HEAD CLEANER for less than $10 (available everywhere for as little as $3+ship or as much as $20). Now it works great for all discs again. When I FINALIZE DISCS so that I can play them on other DVD players, if I play it on my widescreen 32" LCD HDTV, I see faint lines that look like a giant fingerprint. I haven't tried this after I cleaned the head, so it might be better now. This isn't the highest quality equipment in the world but it's one of the best that I have ever owned.
