The SR325 incorporates all of the design features of the lesser models, combined with UHPLC wire in both the voice coil and connecting cord. Non-resonant Aluminum alloy is used in the make up of the metal driver housings. Grado also embarked on a complex treatment in order to increase the materials porosity. This ensures that the earphone chamber has no "ringing" which may obscure detail or add coloration. The resulting headphone combines clean open highs, well defined mid range and vocal bass.

Previously used headphones: Sennheiser HD570, Sennheiser HD580, Sennheiser HD600. Used friend's Sennheiser HD650 for 2 weeks.

After three pairs of Sennheiser products, I wanted to try Grado's headphones because I'd only heard good things about them. I originally thinking about getting SR225 but deceided to invest another $100 and got the SR325i.
I thought HD580 was amazing while HD600 being slightly better than HD580 despite of the huge difference in price. Comparing those two pairs to this Grado SR325i is a CRIME. They do not even come close! SR325i privdes amazing details and clarity. Loud but not noisy. I didn't expect excellent bass sound from Grado but it is far better than HD580/600's bass.
Now, Sennheiser HD650 is at a different class if you go by price. Call me crazy but SR325i provides better sound than HD650 does.

For your reference, I listen to pretty much all genres of music. Rock, alternative, classical, jazz, metal, pop, punk, trance, hardcore, and even some hiphop. (I mostly enjoy music in FLAC format)
SR325i has not failed me in any genres so far.

I really can't explain it. It is just something that you have to experience yourself. Put them on, start playing your favorite tunes. close your eyes, and you'll find yourself with the artist in the same room. I've only had 20 hours of burn-in so far, and I expect the sound to get better as they get some more burn-in. Heck, they're forcing me to get an amp now. I'm gonna go broke soon. =)

The SR 325i beat any headphones I owned or listened too.
Defiantly a step up from the 125 series. Natural sound with great vitality, Bach never sounded better.

So my (past) company owned top 10 global hi-fi companies (e.g. Audiolab)- personally listened to $500k home hi-fi.

Then to Grados, initially too obvious of stuff (bad recordings), take 50 hours whitenoise to sort ($1 itunes download, repeat)).

Grado SR 80s great, 125s better (best iPod-ers), 325s better than $3k speaker set ups. Why?- bass, musicality, in-face (rather than asleep in row 50), detail, separation, easy drivability, musicality again. Tears happen- they are so good. Bose (Puke- 5% of quality), Senns maybe 60% at best. Ignore the looks, listen to sound...

Btw try with valve amp Dott 11+ from china- WOW!!!!

Regrettable purchase........2006-09-29

Purchased the SR325I here and was impressed with the sound. Then they stopped working after about 2hrs use. Returned them for repairs. Repairs lasted only about an hour then left can stopped working. Returned and asked for them to replace with new set. These lasted 15 minutes before they again quit working. Returned these to Grado and asked for a full refund and as of yet have not heard from them or received my money. Nor have they responded to the complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau.
The headphones sounded good when they did work, the problem is probably an assembly issue and most defintely an issue of attitude with these people. BEWARE buying these! If you have problems with them you may be out $300 like I am.

Sound very good, but not comfortable at first.......2006-01-01

I recently picked up a pair of these. The sound quality is excellent. However, these headphones will not show their full potential unless you give them time to burn in. Let them play continuously for about three days before you make any impressions.

Also, many people find them to be uncomfortable when they get them. I had this problem too, but you can make the pads softer (and more comfortable) by squeezing them around in water with fabric softener. Let them air dry for a while, then wash them out with water again to remove any fabric softener. After they have dried, they should be much comfier.

Does the job when nothing else will.......2007-08-24

The Boom headset is expensive but worth every penny. I have tried many headsets and this one's way ahead of it's competitors for killing background noise. No other headset microphone is even close. This thing is easily heard by people I am talking to on my cell from very noisy locations - family, friends and associates can't believe I am on the cell phone. Talk in a low whisper in a loud environment. Like having your own mobile "quiet room" in busy crowds, noisy restaurants, on the open road, in loud conferences.

Just got the new v4 Boom, and its lighter and more comfy than the prior model which I constantly used for over two years. But I miss the convenient 2-piece magnetic connector boom.

I'm a long-time user of Dragon NaturallySpeaking and this is by far the best microphone I have used. With standard computer microphones you have to be in a completely quiet room. I've been able to use the boom in a noisy Starbucks with music playing loudly and lots of ambient noise. The microphone requires no external power and therefore very useful on the road, highly recommended.

Processor
At the heart of any computer lies the CPU (or processor), a massive collection of miniature transistors that governs the speed and power of the entire unit. For the Media Center m1070n, HP has turned to Intel and its new Pentium 4 520 CPU. This is an upgraded version (nicknamed "Prescott") of the venerable Pentium 4 chip, featuring one full MB of Level 2 cache and a more generous data "pipeline" than prior models. Operating at 2.8 GHz and of course sporting Intel's Hyper-Threading technology (Hyper-Threading allows a single CPU system to behave at times as a dual CPU system, thus adding substantially more speed to some high-end applications), this is a fast CPU and a strong centerpiece to a midlevel system.

Memory
Computers typically store information on their hard drive, but they keep frequently and recently accessed data in Random Access Memory (RAM) for faster retrieval. More RAM means more efficient computing, superior multitasking and less strain on your hard drive. The Media Center m1070n features 512 GB of fast PC3200 DDR SDRAM main memory. This is an average allotment for a computer of this caliber, but its rated speed is comparatively quick. As such, it is more than enough for most multitasking situations and complex applications. Moreover, the system is constructed to support RAM upgrades to a stunning total of 4 GB.

Video
CPU's are usually so busy doing basic calculations that they need help translating visual output to the viewing screen. This is the duty of the graphics card (or graphics controller). The Media Center m1070n features a strong graphics card, an ATI Radeon X300 SE PCI-E with 128 dedicated MB of video memory. A video card with dedicated memory is far preferable to cards that share the system's memory, and this card is capable of accurately displaying virtually any 2D application and delivering smooth frame rates and immersive, lifelike visuals to the 3D animations found in most computer games and 3D animation packages. HP has not included a display screen, thus allowing you to continue using your current monitor or select from today's many alternatives.

Sound
The Media Center m1070n produces stereo and surround sound via an Intel High Definition Audio chipset with support for seven distinct audio channels and one subwoofer. The two more costly computers in this series (the m1090n and m1080n) also feature a three-piece Altec Lansing speaker system, whereas this system does not.

Hard Drive
At 160 GB, the unit's internal hard drive is spacious enough for a massive allotment of files and applications and a comprehensive music, video/photo and multimedia library too. Further storage possibilities are offered in the form of the convenient HP Personal Media Drive, a docking slot located on the front of the computer tower that accepts portable hard drives.

Optical Drive
An optical drive is essential in today's computing environment. A "CD-ROM" drive allows you to install CD-based applications and play music CDs. A "CD-RW" drive adds CD "burning", so you can also backup your important files to long-lasting discs and create personalized music CDs. With a DVD-ROM drive you can enjoy all of the above plus watch the same big budget DVD movies you watch on your home entertainment system. And with a DVD-RW drive, you can also "write" home movies to durable discs and archive files to DVD (DVDs boast more than seven times the storage capacity of a CD).

This system features two optical drives -- a DVD-ROM drive for playing music and data CDs and DVD movies, and a DVD+R/RW drive through which you can burn music and data CDs, play DVD movies, and record home videos to long-lasting DVD media. Moreover, the unit's two drives allow you to make extremely quick copies of any CD or DVD.

With no less than six high-speed USB 2.0 ports -- two of which are conveniently located on the front of the unit -- you'll have plenty of room for plug and play gadgets such as digital cameras and printers. HP has also included two IEEE 1394 "FireWire" ports (commonly used for fast data transfer from digital camcorders) and a versatile 9-in-1 card reader for reading memory cards from devices such as digital cameras, PDAs and more. Communication options include an integrated 10/100Base-T networking interface for fast Internet and network communication and a V.92 data/fax modem for low-speed dial-up connections. The system's single open PCI slot may be used for add-on audio cards, video cards, and the like.

Operating System and Software
The Media Center m1070n features an extremely comprehensive software package headed by Microsoft's beefy Windows XP Media Center Edition operating system. HP will also pre-install the Microsoft Money Standard 2004 and Quicken New User Edition 2004 financial suites, Microsoft's Works 7.0 productivity package, HP Image Zone Plus photo and imaging software, and an impressive assortment of multimedia utilities. Last but certainly not least is HP's own Personal Video Recorder for recording and archiving up to 200 hours of video from sources such as cable and satellite TV.

Control
To help free your workspace of cumbersome cables, HP will provide an HP Media Center keyboard with convenient one-touch hotkeys and a corded optical mouse. To help you relax when you're watching movies, playing games or listening to music, the system also features a handy wireless infrared remote control.

i jus bought this comp and i love everything about it. i can burn dvd and play games at the same time with no lag. i have it hooked up to a projector and my tv and my monitor and theres still room for more. this comp takes everything i give it and still wants more. hands down i would put this comp up against any other one out there aside from its bigger brothers the 1080 and 1090 and blow them outta the water. the best damn comp out there by far!!!

If you are looking for a computer that will be reliable and good for music, video, photos, and games...this is the one. We've had this computer for 4-5 months now and it's been great. First of all the media card slots are great. We own about 3 different digital cameras, all with different types of memory, making this feature great. I love the Microsoft Windows XP Media Center operating system. The Media is a great place to store all of my music (which i ripped onto the computer), videos, and photos. The Media Center also allows you to watch TV. And, if you don't feel like investing in TiVo, or DVR, this will do it for you. You simply go to the guide and chose the show that you want to record. If I was a some loaded celebrity and could buy anything I wanted, this would be a computer I would consider. I LOVE IT!!!

Either broken or too noisy to stand........2004-09-27

My husband and I bought this computer yesterday. We hooked up everything, turned it on, and it came on with a grind. The grinding stopped somewhat after the computer booted up, but there is still a very loud buzzing sound. I always hear some fan sound when a computer is on. I have never, however, heard anything like this. There is either something wrong with the fans or this is the noisiest computer on earth. We will have time to return it to BestBuy, where we bought it tomorrow. And we certainly will.
