My poor little printer gave up the ghost and because my entire system is old I was looking for something to tied me over until I upgrade my computer system. This was a god send. The seller was honest in the description and it works as good if not better than my first. Actually this model the hp psc 750xi is quieter.

I know that there are much newer gadgets out there but sometimes less is more.

Tendency to break.......2006-03-18

We use our printer for customers who occasionally come by to print. Everytime we turned it on, it kept on giving some error about replacing the ink. We bought brand new ink and it would still give us the error. We tried restarting it and we used its self-clean feature, and every once in a while it would work and then it would pop back up with the error message. I am so tired of trying to figure out what is wrong with it.

What surprised me was that this product was easy to use. The software took a while to install and to make it work. When I got it working, it prints real smoothly and the quality is great! It is definitely worth the money.

I have had this all-in-one for about two years. it was tricky to install at first b/c I use OS X, but its been very reliable since. Sometimes it seems like the printer has suddenly been uninstalled butall you have to do is run the set-up wizard again. its not hard. I think its a wonderful little machine. i like to make personalized cards and special wrapping paper with all of its functions, as well as printing out reports.

MAXIMUM RELIABILITY.......2003-04-09

I am very impressed with the negative reviews!....this printer is awesome, it does everything, and does it well...even the hp image editor is simple for day by day use. I own it for more than a year and and a half and it works 100%, without a single flaw. Here in Venezuela the cartridges are VERY expensive, and now under currency exchange control it gets even worse, so i have always used it with "refilled" (maybe so-so quality ink) cartridges, and it still performs beatifully.
You can buy this multifunction with your eyes closed.

As others have seen, this and some other HP products has that "scan failure" problem that can appear almost any time, with a new unit or right after the warranty ends. Despite its otherwise nice features I would never buy this again, and this makes me to consider that the replacement will not be HP.

"Scanner Failure".......2006-07-01

As you have likely read in many other posts... This is a great all around printer for a while. I have had mine for about 4 years and it worked like a dream, but now I frequently get the "scanner failure" message. One reviewer mentioned wanting to throw it out the window... I wholly agree. I have felt that way many, many times. I don't care how cheap you can get this, if you want it to last for a long time, look for something else.

There is an annoying problem with this machine, the error message that hundreds of people seem to have a problem with "Scanner Failure" and no-one can seem to find a fix for. Just when you need to copy or scan something urgently, you feel like throwing the machine out of the window. I would say look at another brand!!!!

Loved it at first, but problems develop.......2005-05-04

I bought this printer a little over 2 years ago. At first I loved it, especially having a flatbed scanner on top. Now it has developed a problem where every time I try to scan or copy it has a "scanner failure". I usually can get it to work after unplugging it and then doing a scan without anything actually on the glass. Unfortunately I have found this is a common problem (try typing - hp psc scanner failure - into a search engine and see what comes up!). For this reason my next all-in-one will not be HP. Check out the reviews for the Canon multifunciton machines, they look much better!

Great for B&W, Subpar for color.......2005-01-25

This printer/scanner works great for B&W and greyscale images. But when printing or scanning color images the colors are off. I've tried replacing the ink cartridges to no avail.

I used the printers test page to print out a test image. I then used the copy feature to copy this test page and the copy's color did not match the original's colors. When scanning images, the color hues are become much darker (blue becomes dark blue, maroon becomes purple) or just plain incorrect (yellow becomes orange).

Printing is slightly better, but the colors are still off.

I'll recommend this printer if you do mostly black and white printing, scanning and copying or if you don't care if your colors match exactly. Otherwise look elsewhere.

Save Your Money.......2007-09-17

I hate writing bad reviews. Something has to be really, really wrong for me to publicly slam a product.

Well, unfortunately, I've got four "really wrongs" here at my house that I bought as part of a six handset VTech system back just slightly over a year ago (and, please note, the warrantee just expired - literally.)

I loved the phone a lot - back when it was working. But one day the trouble started. First it was the "Unable to Connect" message that appeared on the handsets when trying to answer a call. Now, three of my handsets won't connect the base, ever. All have the same infuriating message "Unable to Connect." Three dead, three to go.

Then came the spontaneous rebooting. One of the last working phones just reboots - over and over and over. So, it's out.

Now I've got 50% of my system that I spent a LOT of money on not that long ago.

I'm pretty unhappy about it and I'll never buy another VTech product. I suggest you don't as well.

Seriously, how does a cordless phone, with no moving parts, suddenly stop working? FOUR of them?

Terrible. Horrible . Where do I start? The bad sound quality, the slowness of the dialing (you have to dial the number first then press go, like a cellphone. Otherwise you have to wait 1.5 seconds for the dialtone. If you dont, redial).
Other problems - phone looses base for no reason. Some messages are very quiet, almost impossible to hear. Resets day of the week for no reason. Lots of messages where the person has hung up, and you hear the recorded message saying "if you would like to make a call.. This phone looks good but really s BAD.

We purchased this phone about 18 months ago along with two matching additional phones to put in basement and bedroom. The basement phone started acting up about eight months ago and no longer holds a charge at all. Now the other two are not working right. They constantly say "searching for base" when you try and answer them and we lose calls all the time. We need to replace all three phones and they were not cheap. We are very disappointed and will never purchase vtech phones again. We've never had cordless phones fail after this short of a time and these are the most expensive ones we've ever purchased.

A real heartbreaker.......2007-08-18

It's sad to say it, but for almost two years I've overlooked this phone's many performance weaknesses because of its remarkable appearance. That's why this phone is such a heartbreaker: something that looks this smart and competent shouldn't function as miserably as this phone does.

Like others will tell you, the receiver constantly loses the base and drops calls, the base regularly sets its own day and time, and the answering machine randomly cuts off messages after just a few seconds of recording.

I'd never been excited about a house phone until I get this one, and I'll be sad to see it replaced. But it just doesn't do its job, and its cool, retro-futuristic look can't compensate for that.

Aesthetically one of the nicest I've ever seen... But it only works 20% of the time. It's constantly searching for base, and dropping calls.. very disappointed.
