Garmin GPS 18 Deluxe USB GPS Sensor with nRoute and City Select Navigation Software
This is by far the best GPS that I've used on a road trip. I've had portable systems in the past (eMap, marine charting systems) and previously the Delorme Earthmate.
This is by far the best. With the waterproof antenna I can mount the magnetic base on my roof and run the cable through the weatherstripping on my door. Then weather isn't an issue and I get the best reception possible.
The inclueded winshield mount does work well, but having this outside your vehicle works the best.
The software is easy to install and use and the routing system works great. Recalculation is SUPER FAST and most of the time I had a new route, or restored route, within half a block.
The WAAS system really keeps you well connected where a lot of other systems would loose reception.
Plus, since I already had a 17" notebook, the cost of this item and a computer stand for the vehicle was less than most compact all-in-one units. It is SO nice to have such a large display.
The software even adjust the color settings depending on the time of day so you can still see well at night.
This is what I'll be using from now on. Anyone looking for a GPS navigation system should really consider this sytem.

I purchased this unit to use on a trip to Nova Scotia. I own a standalone GPS unit but it does not have Canada in its database. Thanks to the weather and the airline, we arrived in Halifax at 3:00 AM in a heavy rainstorm. The airport was 30 miles from downtown and our B&B. The unit worked perfectly, acquiring the satellites within a minute or so. It took us straight to the B&B without any problem. Because it tells you exactly when to turn, you don't have to worry about reading street name signs which is difficult at night or in the rain. If you mess up and make the wrong turn, it senses it almost immediately and reroutes you accordingly.
Back home, I built a little platform for the laptop to sit over the console. That makes it as convenient as a built in unit and keeps the laptop from overheating my wife's "laptop".
I only have two complaints: It sometimes takes some weird shortcuts, especially on secondary roads and it will sometimes take a very different route to a destination than it does returning from that destination.

Works as advertised. When I travel, I take my laptop anyway. Why put up with a 2" or 3" screen handheld GPS for 4 or 5 times the money. I like it!

The Garmin GPS 18 USB that I received several weeks ago turned out to be a dud. My main complaint is that the Garmin GPS antenna cannot hold a clear signal. I have the antenna mounted on my windshield with a clear view of the sky. The unit always takes between 5 to 10 minutes in a wide open area before it can acquire a signal. It cannot lock onto a signal inside my house or on neighborhood streets. Even when the signal is acquired, it constantly loses the signal every couple of minutes or more. Whenever I am driving on the I-495 in Washington DC area, it loses signal whenever the road is not straight or if it briefly goes under a 50 or 100 ft wide bridge. It is significantly worse when driving through residential streets. It often loses it signal completely for minutes at a time on fairly open residential streets. In addition, the included routing software makes it very difficult to find addresses. One often needs a complete address to find a location. In addition, when searching for a particular street name it will often not have the desired street name available in the form that one expects it. Many roads have North, South, or East, West attached to their name so that you have to guess which one it is before you can successfully find the desired location. Given the cost of this system, the quality of the software is to be expected. However, my friends have GPS antennas that cost $30 dollars and work much better than this one.

Easy to set up on PC and the software is fairly intuitive. Turn-by-turn directions are superb, don't pay attention and it is like having a professional nag. Great product for guys who won't ask for directions.
Large display of upcoming streets is nicer than trying to find streets signs, especially at night.
Most users with newer laptops should order the USB version. Most new computers don't have serial interfaces.

More than what I was looking for!.......2007-09-01
I bought these recently, after my three year old Panasonic died. We use Vonage, and I answer customer service calls from my home, so I needed multiple handsets with good sound quality. We got so much more! We love having one on each of our floors. The base is in the basement, the third handset in the bedroom on the top floor, and there are no dead spots or sound fading, like we had with the old one. I love that the phones are intercoms--works wonderfully with my kids in the basement instead of them yelling up the stairs. I can also listen in on what they are doing, two floors up, so I know they aren't getting into trouble. The handsets are small, but fit nicely into my hand and aren't a problem. I use my headset with them for work and have had no trouble. The batteries came partly charged and charged easily, and seem to hold a charge pretty well. I also love the unique ring feature--now I know without checking caller id if its an important call (meaning a family member) or one I can get to later. Really a great phone set for the price!
Reliable.......2007-08-16
We switched to VOIP almost a year ago, and, as per the reviews we could find, this seemed like the most reliable phone system. We've had no problems so far, and the price, though not the lowest, is very reasonable.
One caveat--if there's a way to access the answering machine from any location, we haven't figured it out yet. And if not, that can be one of the next things Uniden works on.

This is the worst set of phones I ever owned. I had to ship three phones back to the warranty repair (at my cost). The phones will soon be out of warranty. I suppose that is why they give you a set of 4 phones. By the end of the year, you might have one left working. So, if you are interested in having 4 working phones, you better buy 12 of them!! Save your money. Buy Vtech instead.
Feature Rich!!.......2007-07-06
I bought this set for two friends over the holidays and they love them! I've used theirs many times and was impressed so I bought a set for myself. I have recommended it to many other friends since then. The amount of features in this set go on and on. Besides being a cordless phone it can also be used as a Room/Baby monitor as well as two-way radios away from home. You can also use the handsets as an intercom system in your home or to transfer the phone call between handsets. Most options are programable from any handset and you can listen/clear your messages from any handset. You can also copy your phonebook between handsets. And a handy little feature when you want to be left alone... one touch "Do Not Disturb" that will prevent any handset from ringing with an incoming call. This is just a few of the things that impressed me. The only thing that I noticed that may be a problem is that sometimes the caller sounds a little muffled. I'm not sure if that is a problem with this phone system or not tho.

Solved A Problem.......2007-06-15
I needed to work on computers in my basement. This card allows me to plug it into the computer I'm working on and access the internet through my wireless router. It works great and solves my problem. My router is about 60 feet from my work bench in the basement and I get good transfers.
Are you running Vista?.......2007-04-22
I'll bet you aren't if you are using this card.
The reason I gave this ** rather than * is that it works great on XP and ME. But try using it with Vista running on a Core 2 Duo system, and the system freezes on bootup. My workaround is to disable the card, start up the system, then re-enable it. Then, it works fine. But one has to remember to disable it every time they intend to shutdown or restart their system. The D-Link website says there is a beta Vista driver, but I downloaded it and there was no change.
And speaking of D-Link support, three years ago, when I purchased my first D-Link product, it was great. Now, they have apparently oursourced to Asia somewhere, and it absolutely sucks. The support rep had me trying to fix the problem by troubleshooting it as a generic network problem--which it obviously isn't. It is a Vista/D-Link driver problem. He (or she) simply wouldn't accept the fact that there was no problem on my network.
What was my final solution? I drove two miles to my local Best Buy store and purchased a Belkin/USB wireless card for $17.95 plus tax. It works fine on my new Vista system.
So much better than the Netgear one.......2007-04-12
Okay, so everyone has their own experience with this stuff. Maybe it's because we have the D-link wireless router that the Netgear card was a horror: constantly having to repair the network connection, having to reboot, dealing with weak signals, etc.
So I replaced my Netgear card with this D-link one and the problems completely disappeared. What else can I say - other than say I have:
- Windows XP (patched to the latest)
- a circa 2006 Dell XPS 400 with 2 gig of memory and a Pentium D CPU, running at 3.00GHz

Works great, connection is good through a wall. One thing is I am not sure why i need to repair my conncetion sometimes but once it's repaired it works great.

I have read the other reviews for this xbox cable and most of them act like this is a rip off, and you should just buy a 50foot "cross-over" cable. THIS CABLE IS MADE FOR LINKING TWO XBOX'S TOGETHER! NOT FOR ANY OTHER USES! And using a "50 foot crossed over cable" doesn't work anyways. I bought one myself tried using it and no, it didn't work. That is because it was not specifically designed for the xbox. This cable however is made for xboxes, and will connect 2 xbox systems together so you can play certain games with up to 8 players on two different TV's, but still be fighting each other. But the ultimate recommendation would be to just get x-box live, that way there's no complaining about a system link that will only do what the package says it does(link 2 xbox systems together) and you can play more than 8 people whenever you want.

If you don't like Microsoft or you think you can find a better deal on a different brand, look for "Cross-over" ethernet cables! "Patch" ethernet cables are the more common type, but they do not work for the Xbox.

This cable is used ONLY for a hookup between 2 xboxes. This means that if you want to play Halo 4 vs 4 with 2 tvs, a regular ethernet cable will not work. Only the Xbox System Link cable will work between two xboxes directly connected. However, if you hook up four xboxes, you have to use regular RJ-45 ethernet cable with a hub. That is why this cable is necessary.
