a waste of money.......2006-10-21

I purchased the monitor twice. I had to return the first one because it was not working properly. The second monitor worked great for about 3 months. At the 3 month mark, I started seeing grey lines going horizontally across the screen. If there are effective adjustments to fix this problem, I have not come across it. The manual mentions several adjustments to try but none seem to work. With the multiple horizontal grey lines going across my screen, I find the monitor to be almost useless. I have model 9410e.

Update - 15 months later 8/19/07 - no problems - well worth the investment.

Great color, great contrast, not a single dead pixel.

The plastic base was difficult to mount. I ended up breaking 1 of the plastic clips when I disassembled it to move it to a different location. The base still connects well enough to the screen but I will not chance taking it apart again.

Bought mine at Fry's and have been pleasantly surprised. Using it with a mac mini, not a gamer.

This is an excellent monitor and worked perfectly right out of the box. XP Pro installed it without any problems and I didn't have to do anything in the way of adjustments. I can't think of anything about this monitor that needs improvement. It is a great buy at an attractive price. The picture is spectacular. I am not a gamer.

Very Good, excelent price........2007-05-29

After comparing several models I decided on this display for several reasons. Nec has a solid reputation on products so I went for it (most user reviews are possitive).
First, I needed digital connection: Display features VGA and DVI-D digital connectors (NOTE: check specs. on what you need, there are several versions of DVI; cables and connectors are different, make sure it works for your system).
Second is price, for display size it is a pretty good bargain. And most of all I liked the color, silver bezel in front, all plastic in white, even power cord. It pairs nicely with Apple products and is a good alternative if you don't want to spend a buck on Apple displays (although Apple displays are very superior, I know).
I plugged this display on a Mac G5, no problem what so ever. I've also plugged it on a G4 Quicksilver with an ATI Radeon 9600 card, great combo with no compatability problem.
Overall its pretty good. I had to adjust and calibrate color since factory configuration had white with a shade of blue, but after this minor correction, its beautiful.
It is not a widescreen display, but I really only use it for work, I don't watch movies on my system, and all that thing about widescreen format making you work better, I don't know.
So I would highly recommend it. I'm thinking of getting another for a double display configuration!

I got this awhile ago and it just doesn't work now. It scans, but there is a blackbar on the side. So, I am looking for a new one. It's ok for the price that it's at.

I got this awhile ago for around and it is ok for the price. Unfortunately mine just broke down. I keep scanning and there is a black bar on the side. So, I am trying to find a replacement one. I guess this is an ok scanner if you don't want to pay alot for one.

I have had a 5300 for some time now and am buying one as a birthdaygift for my nephew. It isn't the best scanner on the market, but for the $ it's not bad. Picture resolution is good if you use the included software with the correct settings.

DON'T BUY.......2000-03-18

This is one of the wost scanner i have ever had. Picturequality is very low. From a scale from one to ten i rate this a-1. This is so horible of a scanner it is off the charts.

This scanner is a good scanner. If it was WinXP compatible, I wouldn't sell it. It has great resolution as well as quick functions, such as copying. It is a great buy for anyone looking for a scanner

Driver Problems.......2002-11-22

Worked fine for about a year so it gets a star for that, and then there were all these problems with the drivers and the bundled software. The fixes have never been clear cut, and as a result I plan on staying away from HP scanning products. I dont know if there is a problem with the USB interface or what, but I saw numerous posts on various sites expressing the same problem, and there was never a cut a dried answer.
