A fairly simple device, plugged right in and worked immediately - I'm using this on a Mac G4 Cube running Leopard.
I did have to get a powered USB hub but that was more because the Cube only has 2 USB ports and both were taken up my third party keyboard and mouse (fault with the Cube, not this product).
Didn't try the included software as most people said its really bad.
WON'T work with VISTA!.......2007-09-23
NOwhere does it say anything about the fact this WILL NOT work with Vista. After buying it and then trying to run it, I discovered it will only see the mic input and not the line-in input (which was the whole point of buying it!). Searching Griffin Technology's web-site, the second item listed in the FAQ is "My iMic will not work with Vista". Upon following the link for this item, they list the following statement, "The iMic hardware is not compatible with the Microsoft Vista software." There is no offer of a solution OR any indication that there ever WILL be... Why don't they make this clear in the product description on Amazon?? It would have saved me about $35 as well as much time and frustration. ALSO, I then tried to use this on my I-Mac and the Final Vinyl software choked and wouldn't work either...! There may be some upgrades to the FV S/W, but, I have been so frustrated trying to get this d@mn thing to work I finally gave up. It may work for you as touted by many who have reviewed it here, BUT, IT WILL NOT WORK WITH VISTA....
A Very Useful Product .......2007-09-03
We bought this so we could digitize our old cassette tape collection. It works well. It plugs in to the boombox cassette player, and into our iMac.
We record the cassettes through a program called Sound Studio, then put them into iTunes, and burn them onto disks.
This item has been really helpful in saving our music and other recordings from 30-40 years ago.

Great interface for recording LPs to CD-R.......2007-08-17
I used this to interface my analog LP/preamp rig to my computer in order to record and burn LPs to CDs. Using the iMic to connect my preamp outs to the USB port, and recording the LP using the supplied Audacity software provided excellent results. The resulting recordings were excellent, I didn't do much comaparison (CD-R vs. LP) on my reference rig, but in the car and on headphones, the CD-Rs sounded great. I highly recommend this inexpensive device, it's cheaper than a component CD recorder, plus you can digitally manipulate the files, or use one of the click-removal software packages to clean up recordings from LPs in poor shape. I wish I had this way back when I bought duplicate CDs of LPs I already had, just to listen in the car. Buy it with confidence!

I have successfully used this product to digitize a number of vinyl LP's and am quite pleased with the results. I connected the iMic to the "tape out" jacks on my old stereo receiver (which fortunately still has the "phono" inputs for connecting a turntable) and to a USB port on my G5 iMac. The Final Vinyl software packaged with this product worked fine, although the documentation could be better. The software includes a number of equalization settings if you wish to modify the original sound, however if your vinyl LPs are badly scratched, you'll need to use some other software besides Final Vinyl to filter out the noise. For vinyl LP albums in reasonably good shape, the iMic/Final Vinyl combination works very nicely. Note: This happy ending only occurred after considerable frustration caused by my attempt to directly connect the iMic to my G5 iMac using a separate "Griffin Turntable Connection Cable with Grounding". The results from this setup were not satisfactory in any way--very weak signal, and lots of background noise. The signal coming directly out of the turntable is not strong enough to make satisfactory recordings without an amplifier in the setup. Connecting the iMic to my old stereo receiver fixed these issues. A separate phonograph turntable preamplifier would probably also give good results if you don't have an old receiver or amp with the phono inputs.

The input can be a problem:
Line level - gain not very adjustable, many sources will over or under drive it
Mic level - not compatible with anything but cheap plug-N-power mics. If your mic has a battery in it (like the Sony ECM-MS957), it won't work.
For cheapie electret mics or adjustable-line-level sources (a walkman, radio, or voice recorder) this should be all you need. And, anything better is ridiculously expensive.

Works pretty good.......2005-11-06
At first, i was angry because my computer would not read the dang thing. Then i did quite a bit of delving into my computer and looked at the ports and figured it out. U need to use the cd to install it. The things on the cd were pretty useful. There we no instructions on how to do it though. I dont know if they just failed to put it in or they think u can do it on ur own. Once i got it working things were fine, except it takes forever to burn stuff. One really good thing is that it is so quiet even when burning that i cant hear it and thats really nice.

False Advertising.......2005-02-25
I bought this drive from my local CompUSA for two reasons: I needed to backup my files, and I thought it would be cool to watch DVD movies on my Mac. The software for the DVD player was supposed to be included, right?? Wrong. Iomega does not offer software for the DVD player, but they didn't bother to say this on the box.
Here is the software compatibility list that I found in the user manual:

Sonic CinePlayer (PC only)
MusicMatch® Jukebox (PC/Mac)

I'm giving this drive a 3-star rating because my experience with the CD-burner was great. The software installation was a snap, and it took about a minute to burn 350MB on a CD.
Even though I accomplished my original goal, I would not recommend this product to Mac users. In fact, I wish I had checked on Amazon before I did.
DVD support on Macintosh less than sterling.......2004-11-17
For a product that is supposed to support PCs and Macintosh you would think that hardware limitation for DVD would be spelled out but no such luck. While the CD-RW works reasonablly well it does take a little getting use to. However the DVD part is where this drive has the biggest problems.
The packaging says G3 or better but the fact of the matter is
Apple's DVD Player does not work on external drives on the older G3s and while the box said it supports MacOS X there is no alterernative DVD player provided for the Mac, so you have to find one.
Then there are performance issues. Even with a USB 2.0 PCI card in my G3/430 512 MB B&W Mac DVD audio and video were ridiculously choppy and when I compred performance to the built in USB 1.1 ports I found the drive performing exactly the same way and a little research showed the bottle neck to be in the video card not the port! When I upgraded to a G4 macmini the DVD performance improved dramatically indicating that the G3 requirement was more for the CD-RW fuctions than the DVD.
So if you want a good CD-RW drive this drive is great but if you want it as an external DVD you will definitely need either a powerful video card or perferably a G4 Mac.

I have had this cd/dvd player for about a month and it has worked exactly as advertised since it arrived. The cine player and hotburn pro software have worked, again, just as advertised.
I have never used a cd burner before so I can't really compare, but it burns fast for me and I still haven't upgraded my usb to 2.0.
I am very pleased.

I thought this was a great item! It is really low priced, and it does exactly what I need it to. I bought this shredder from mmoreforless on Amazon and they did not say it was refurbished. It arrived wrapped in dirty paper towels (to soak up the leaking oil) and in a torn Little Debbie Snack Cakes box. Maybe okay from ebay, but not from Amazon.
But the shredder works fine. It is permanently stained from the oil, but is useable.

I often rely on these reviews so I want to let you know how much I LOVE this little shredder!
It IS small...that is the beauty of it...it is small, but powerful! It shreds credit cards. I like that.
It takes up a very small space and is not tall, so you can easily put it on a desk surface and use it as you open all of the pieces of junk mail!
Of course, it isn't practical if you have huge bundles of papers to shred...you'd need a larger machine. But for the everyday mail and paper shredding that I do, it is really great. You do have to fold the full sized papers, but when I get mail, I just put the pre-folded junk into the shredder. For the convenience of this machine, I don't mind having to fold the paper on those few times that it is necessary.
I used to have one of those larger shredders that fit over a waste basket, but it was too big, kept tipping over, and was noisy.
I'm telling you...I really love this little shredder and I am very happy that I found it.

Yes, this shredder is quite small, but for personal use it works quite well. It's ideal for putting it on a desk so it doesn't take up much room but you can still use it to shred receipts and such. It shreds everything into nice tiny pieces and is easy to dump out into the trash.

Recently returned this item due to the fact it would not meet our needs. Item was smaller than I thought although if I had read the entire description, I would have known and not purchased it. Total size is about as big as a large coffe can and the opening is very small. To shred a regular size paper, you would have to fold it in half the long way and insert it. I guess it would work if you wanted a small shredder on your desk and only shredded credit card receipts and such. Picture was a little misleading on size.

When I first opened the package, I said to myself "Wait a min....is this what I paid for?" Because it was tiny~!!!! LOL I was like "You got to be kidding...~!! The smallest shredder I have ever seen in my life~!!" I bought it for my home office use, and spent hrs researching for the best kind to buy, reading review, and etc. I finally got my "well researched" item in hand,....and and...~!!! Well, I guess I will have to stay with this for a while. It is UGLY design and color to go with it. Besides its Made in USA. SIGH...........SUCK. Will see how I will get used to this tiny machine sitting in my home office.....may be I will spray paint it, since its so ugly. As far as Size, I can not help it.....I can not imagine anyone would make such small paper shredder~! What were they thinking?
