The Konica Minolta Magicolor 2400W Color Laser Printer is a super product for the price. I have been using this printer on a low to medium-low scale for about a year and a half. The toner is pricey, but it lasts a fairly long time. I've never really compared the amount spent on toner verses ink on other printers, but even if this comes out as a little more, it is worth it due to the color laser quality. Only gripes I have are with the occasional paper jam and the size - it's too large for the average desk, right now I have it on my floor.

Magicolor 2400W - Disaster.......2007-06-26

Having owned and operated a Konica-Minolta Magicolor 2400W for the last year and a half I am not surprised this item has been discontinued by the manufacturer. I purchased a brand new unit which promptly broke down in days of installation. Minolta did replace it with a REFURBISHED unit. Strange, I bought new and they replaced it with a used unit.
The printer is incredibly noisy and dirty - it spills a lot of toner inside the printer so you get to clean it frequently if you want clean printing. The toner is outrageously expensive. Replacing all four toner cartridges is more expensive than buying a new printer.
Break downs and error messages are a fact of life with this printer. Konica Minolta's web page help site is of no help what so ever. Unless you somehow forgot to remove the packing tape when you first installed the unit, all help does in recommend you call customer service.
After 18 months of repeated frustration I pulled the plug and went with HP color laser printer.

Bought 2, both failed.......2007-06-03

Very good picture quality for a color laser unit but mechanically very cheap. First page printout is slow but speeds up for multiple copies. I bought 2 to use in my home office and both failed mechanically within 6 months. I would not consider Konica Minolta again due to the cheap quality.

I use this every day in my advertising business. I wouldn't print with anything else. Fantastic print quality. Looks like it came right from a professional photographer on all the colors. True color throughout.

My first post and I just felt that I had to write a positive review after seeing all the negatives. I got a refurbished one at a discounted rate (less than $150) a couple days ago. B/W text printing is amazing as usual for lasers; colour printing isn't bad at all (under 2400x600 dpi). Unless you look at it up close, you won't notice the pixels.

I don't have the printer long enough to really comment on it's build quality... however, I just want to point out that if you want to print on thick stock (anything > 24lb) you have to go into Printer Preferences and choose "thick stock" under the Paper tab. I just printed using a 32lb stock and it works fine! I noticed that under the "thick stock" setting, the paper feeds slower; presumably to prevent jamming.

Noise level is acceptable to me. The other laser printer I used was one from Samsung and they don't sound any different.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with it for the price I paid.

Noisy, slow to feed paper (the printer seems to have difficulty finding each sheet), slow to print. Poor quality printing in Black and White.

Can't be connected as a 'bluetooth' networked printer.

Only advantage - the colour is excellent. I use this printer only when I want to print in colour.

Avoid this printer.......2007-01-02

I have used mine for about 18 months. I would not buy another one because of poorly made plastic parts. first a plastic guide broke internally during a paper jam, then the plastic paper support broke off, and now the final guide roll shaft broke so the paper does not come all the way out causing an error. You have to turn the printer off, then on again to clear the error (after each page) I saw HP's low end color laser for 299 and free shipping, I think I might go for that!

Item was shipped promptly packed in the factory carton, arrived in top condition and has performed as advertised. The instruction book is better than most and factory support is excellant when questions arise.

A 64 bit driver from Minolta is on the way--maybe........2006-04-27

There have been several unexplained delays in the production of a 64 bit driver for this otherwise excellent printer. It seems the latest hold up is a "shortage" at Research and Development. I have been waiting for this driver since January, 2006 when they initially told me it would be ready. Frankly, I am sick and tired of waiting. Because of their lackadaisical attitude toward publishing this driver, I would not consider Konica Minolta again. There are many other printers out there that are just as good or better than Minolta for about the same money.

Minolta sent me an Excel file with the following information:
KM magicolor 2400W GDI Full BT TBD Mar-06 DELAY YES BT-051205: Due to shortage at R&D / Evaluation resources, delayed until Feb-06. EN maybe possible to release in Jan-06. (*3)

It is unclear to me just what is meant by "Due to shortage at R&D".

Prints better than my HP 3550N!.......2006-03-15

I recently bought two color laser printers: the Konica Minolta 2400W and a HP 3550N. The quality was better from the Konica machine on photos and large solid areas. The Konica Minolta machine makes flesh tones look better also, very important in my business. A great buy for a third of the cost.

Lucky me I guess.......2006-10-08

I have had this monitor for 4 years now and it is doing great (well the best a "old" monitor can do). I would have to say it is on 16+ hours day for the time I have had it. Sorry to hear everyone else are having problems, maybe I got lucky before the bad one came out. I was coming here to get the specs on it and took a look at the reviews. Just gave it 4 stars because of what everyone has said here, I would had given it 5 if I didn't see all the bad ones talked about.

PEICE OF TRASH.......2006-02-01

I work in a Chicago Children's Hospital and we purchased 5 of these pieces of garbage to have 3 of them all have the same problem shortly after the warranty expired. Screen powers up for a split second then goes black. I swapped oout the power supplies to rule that out. It is definately the monitor. I would not recommend these to anybody unless they like to pay $300 for a doorstop NO MORE NEC's FROM NOW ON

Same problems as described below. Screen goes black and never returns. Cost over $500 three years ago. NEC sold a lemon model that breaks withen one month of warrenty expiring.

Good for 3 years - Is this acceptable????.......2005-11-29

I've had my 1700V for 3 years now and was perfectly fine until recently I got the same error many others seem to have had. The screen goes black and if you power off and on it bursts into life for just a second. This is clearly a common fault with these monitors - but is that acceptable??? Not in my books. If this is a known fault and the life expectancy is only a couple of years then surely NEC should replace the units....Of course this is the REAL world and that just isn't going to happen...is it? No more NEC for me............

NEC Multisync LCD 1700V - good while it lasted!.......2005-11-03

I purchased this monitor almost as new, and it worked great for about a year, then it just went black. If I turned it off and repowered it would come on for about one second, but then go black again. Power lite stays on. I hooked it up to two other computers and the problem followed the monitor. It was not my computer, but it was the monitor.

I contacted NEC, no luck, out of warranty.
